Mickey Spagnola having problems with his headset and that means it's time for another edition of Mick Shots. Bill Jones with Everson Walls and Everson
We've got football players on the football field outside. They look good, man, they look good. They all padded up and everything, aren't they A right? Well, they're not well there to me, that's padded for them. I mean even their pads on pads. Producer Supreme, Chris Beam to the rest. You've got you've got field goal kicker pads. That's yeah.
So then there might have. You might have just segued into one of the stories of the week here at the Star in Frisco, which we will get into unless you want to talk in sixty two first, yes, you want to talk sixty two. First, was it fun? It was all right? It was all right. Yeah, well I sent you the video I had was sitting in the presspot, was sitting on the moon. Yes, you caught my subcasm. Right, guys used to sit in those suits of that was they have a new ballpark, Mickey, they're a new ballpark.
They used to sit in left field the Sweet section. There is no section ballpark, although there is a a sweet souvenir out in left field last night. Yes, they're a very lucky fan who is positioned uh and not related to Kyle Yeoman's by the way, Corey Yeoman's. I think it's his name. Yeah, I said, did you send your dad to the game or big brother? Yeah? Ed, he said my phone. I was at dinner with my fiance and my phone blew up and I said, oh, he must have hit the home run. He goes, No.
Everybody wanted to know if I knew the guy, because they were looking for his phone number. I thought about it, and then I'd realize he didn't say anything about a brother or someone. Yeah, Corey. So anyway, yep, sixty two and the Rangers got number sixty seven. That's right, their sixty seventh win. So what do you do? Do you cheer for him. If you're a ranger, oh heck, kiss you do you cheer for him? Even if you're a player I think I mean a player, Yes, I mean
a player. Yeah? Absolutely, So do you go out there and celebrate with him? Well they didn't, but everybody else did. Yeah, I mean that's what I'm saying. You know, if I might be a fan, I mean I just thought playing I might be Basan and this guy hits one. I can't be a Ranger going out there. Hey, that's great, right. I was wondering if the Rangers are going to stream out of their day whether you don't, correct you? Where do congratulate? The pictures grow and meet up there? Well?
He went six games trying to hit number six. I know, I know, I don't have them out. What do you want? What do you want? Right? It was a slider that didn't slide. Yeah, right, I got it? Was it was what it was? It was a gift from Jesus. There you go? Well what was that was? Hey, Susian may sus Yes, hey, hey Susco to watch it live? Um, you know, can't watch it on MLBUM because it's blacked out here. But I discovered that TBS had a Tuesday
night baseball game. Oh I didn't know that, And I said, I bet they cut in and they did so well. ESPN was cutting into every college football game whenever plate over the weekend. Well, and they did so all college football fans are rejoicing. He finally got the home run, and they had programming going on, like a special show or something, so they weren't going to cut into it, right,
They weren't going live. So yeah, but I got to watch it, and boy, when I saw that swing happening and he made contact, I was like, whoa, that's it. You can tell that was gone. Yeah, it was pretty cool. And then you know what the neat thing was it when he went around the bases like home run number two. You know, there was no big silly celebration, touched home plate. And then I thought the commercials he does the same thing in the right and then yeah, persona, that's his thing.
And then and then it was almost like going to the reception line at a wedding. He hugged everybody that was there and ones that didn't come out on the field. He went through the dugout one by one and hugged him all. That was pretty cool. Now, that he deserves that, he deserves it. He is a big man. What position would he play in the National Football tight end? Can run ends and defensive end? Yeah yeah, yeah, that would
be some kind of defensive end. He probably wouldn't even need to use a swim movie fall yeah six seven something like that. Yeah, at least he is larger than life. Um, this this is an aside, but you know who he reminds me of. Do you ever watch The Munsters? Yeah, you remember the Butler. Remember when some baseball guy I can't remember who it was made of guest appearance on
The Monsters. And so Herman went to a baseball park and they threw pitches to him and he like hit what it like skyrock Earth went through the through the outfield fence. You know the ball there's a line drive that just burned a hole all the way through the outfield fence is always from the ball. He looks like just how his physical uh, just how large he is.
That's I wonder how much uh the guy that caught the ball paid for his ticket because they were because I know for a fact you actually you actually had to pay to get into this game. The Rangers have been giving out free tickets. I know because I personally benefited from that. For all fourteen people in my family for a game of a couple of Fridays ago, they said,
yeah you can. Uh. They offered me tickets just to go. Okay, and because they wanted me to spend for dinner for fourteen people there at the ballpark U and any game in September. Then I looked at the schedule, Well, what about the Yankee Series? No, no, no, And that was the largest paid crowd on the history of the ballpark, thirty eight thousand. I had read it. They were going for forty eight hundred dollars, so he did have to pay for it. But I don't know. Yeah, I mean
especially be on the front row. And you saw the other guy that went over the railing, right, okay, they're about drivers. Yeah, he jumped over the railing and it was banking out at not making that. It was a shrewd move. Yea. I was thinking that, Okay, if he drops it, I'm gonna I'm in this little space between the outfield wall and the seats where I can get
the ball. It was shrewd until he was escorted off and we went underneath because we were going to find the guy who caught the ball, So we camped out by the Yankees clubhouse, knowing that they would take him down there, or assuming they would. Well, no, they took the guy that they that they well, I mean we didn't watch him. For that guy, it was all or nothing. I mean, you know he wasn't gonna catch Yeah, he
didn't care about the game. Catch it. Yeah, He's like, okay, yeah, this is my best move that I'm gonna make because if it went down, if it went down there and he caught it or got it when he got taking the ball away, No, you ain't getting my ball. We're gonna fight this ball. No, brother's a two million dollars balls. Yeah, you are not gonna get me for this. Did anybody get to interview the guy? Uh? They just asked him a quick question. Yeah yeah, but he uh no that
he hasn't that I know of. He hasn't done any and like said, I'm keeping it, I'm giving it, not tell anything he knows he's gonna do. I mean he's an investment banker, Okay, I read in the paper. Not only an investment banker, he's the vice president too. He knows so you had to pay extra then to be in that part of the stadium because everybody knows it's gonna be Those were the most coveted seats, so they had to pay extra right to get to see Oh yeah,
especially on the first row there. Yeah, that was a that's a hell of a catch though. By the way, No, it was nice right he went up in master dude, he went in moston because another guy wanted that. He came up at the top that wasn't getting It's pretty cool to see. It was also cool to see the Rangers tweeted out a picture of three cowboys in Rangers jackets. I saw that game, and that would be Dak Prescott,
Michael Parsons and Michael Gallup were all there. And again, yeah, nice as we bring it back to cowboys, bring it back, bring it back, baby, and to they're practicing right now behind us, not it lead behind us, but across the God that guy with his hand right, yeah, he caught it left hand right, Um, all right, and there's no more suspense there, right. He's not playing. He never was gonna. Jerry stopped playing with people. Stop stop fooling around, Jerry.
He's just being up to be also keeps it, keeps it the talk of the town. Right now, what what did my dad say? He's just being a hal all right, So, uh, who's your long snapper of choice this week? We don't know. They're having a snap off. Um, they brought in four guys yesterday. When we finished, we saw those guys on the field and I saw a guy with a weird number, like forty something and he had the ball in his hands.
I said, oh, they're they're working out a deep snapper. Well, they were working out four of them, uh, and they chose two and have signed them to the practice squad. Matt Overton last on the Rams practice squad and Tucker Addington played with the Houston Gamblers this spring in the USFL. Sam Houston state. They still have the Houston name. Wow, okay, that was Jim Kelly. That's right right, my wide receiver played for the Houston Gambles. Well that's that's like Turpin
played for the New Jersey Generals. Yeah. Yeah, so they kept the name. So anyway, those two guys will work this week, and I'm sure on Saturday they'll make a decision on which one's gonna be. My ignorance, I didn't know that we had a snap no one, and no one knew until yesterday afternoon. What happened Jake McQuaid. Okay, he tore his triceps muscle on the last punt of
the game sapping the ball. No, he was blocking, and it was weird because he was blocking and I saw him kind of grab the guy with his right arm and kind of slung him to the ground. And I said, oh, he did it in his right arm. But then he started running down field and he was holding his arm close to his his left arm close to his body, and I said, oh, no, he was running down to cover. Oh, he wasn't gonna tackle anybody. But uh yeah, it was okay. So the snatch came back to be too vigorous here
on field goal protection, right. Uh, it was punt two minute, not trying to do this that. So this happened during the game at that point, two minutes left, and this happened, No, two minutes to go in the game. Okay, bad, And uh yeah, so he's out for the year, probably has to have surgery. Wow. And he had played every game for eleven seasons when he first got in the league in two uh twenty eleven. Wow, and that's the first time he's gonna miss the game. This still playing for
the Giants. Yeah, I was wondering where an l Latticewer was. He's not, No, he's not there any he said, he said, come in, come on, Steve's son in here, man, come on. So yeah, and you know it's not just you know that that's a kind of disrupt the operation. You saw what happened with Cincinnati and the season opener against the Steelers,
but that was the emergency guy. Yeah, they didn't but the importance of a yeah, quality snap and they immediately hired, I mean signed a deep snapper for real for the Cowboys game. And right now, see what he can do. Yeah, see if he can get his son here. I should have asked Drew. Drew was up in the lobby, Drew, can you deep snap as you like? Do you like get up in the morning and where that jacket or what's going on? I got all the fame jacket everywhere
you go. He's got an appearance. I told him. If he gets bored, you know we got a podcast going on just downstairs. You can join us. He goes, you got any money, I said, I gotta open mic. He tells me, I cry and pray and I'll be there, right, So I'm crying pray for Everson. Zach Diosse's last year with the Giants was two thousand nineteen. Okay, it's a deep snapper. Well that was only because of COVID, so he should be healthy, right, So we'll see how this
one works out. Because you know, it was just uh Monday, Um, John Fossil was crediting their operation on the field goals that and and Brett Maher's same thing. He was crediting the operation that you know, everybody's got confidence and everybody and we're, uh, you know, we're working really well together. Now you gotta change. Well, And that was on Monday, and you know, Fossil already knew that he had an issue, right,
and he probably I don't know if he knew. He and mcquoi is a guy that he's had for years,
right because he was in with the Rams. Right. So this is the second time only since two thousand and five that the Cowboys have changed deep snappers in the middle of the season, because in two thousand and five, Bill Parcels ran out of patience with rookie John Condo after the first I don't know, it was four or five games, and it was between the Cowboys were playing San Francisco and Oakland back to back, and we stayed
out on the West coast and we were practiced. The Cowboys were practicing at San Jose State and they brought in some guy that's deep snap for cal because he was right down the road and he drives in, has a workout and they signed one LP Latissour on the spot and he never missed the game for the next sixteen years. I told I said, the Cowboy wasn't need a long snapper. I say, I'm on a podcast. He goes, my stuff is still nice. I said, not use that.
Oh you mean my son? Yeah, my stuff? And whatever happened to that John Condo character, that Bill Parcels ran out of patients. We got picked up and he did, he got, he got. He had a fifteen year career in the NFL and he was a two time Pro bowler as well. Yep so, but yeah, he had a couple of bad snaps and the last ones were in that game against the forty nine ers and he's, no, I can't do this anymore. And for the next twelve years he was the Oakland Raiders. H Deep snapp Deep Snapper.
Steve says he's better, but he's except he can't hardly bent over. That's a problem. All right, then, we're just getting started on this edition of Mick Shots Back in a moment. We were talking USFL in the first segment, and I got a response from a listener viewer Nate in Frisco says that Nate Newton played for the Tampa Bay Bandits no, no,
Nathaniel from Frisco. Oh not than or is it Nathaniel down the hallway? Well, he sent it in third person, Nate, and so I assumed it must not be the same
fund like a ego problem. And oh, by the way, so they didn't have to make a roster move on the practice squad to put those two guys on there because they elevated Will greer um or assigned him to the fifty three man roster when they headed up the spot because they had to because he already used these three elevations and they already had an open spot on the sixteen man practice squad, So no one had to get cut to put those two guys down there to practice this week with him. All right, So what do
we need to know from Mike McCarthy's Wednesday press conference today. Well, off the top of my head, I saw him from the restaurant across the street. I couldn't hear him, but I saw him. Oh, you were watching, were good? So Um, Donovan Lewis and Donovan Wilson. Um, Jordan Lewis got my Donovan too soon local radio personality. They were they were listed as limited. They were going to work with the re have guys. They were going to see how Lewis did. And as for Wilson, they just kind of looked at
his workload. The last I think three games in a row, he's he played every snap in the game, and so they were gonna let him just, you know, have a day. And he's had He's had some days, Yes he has. He's had some Sundays and a Monday, Yeah exactly. So, Uh, it looks like Curse was slated to practice fully today, so he should be out there and problem how that goes. He had a sprain knee and he's missed three games. This is four weeks now. Uh. And the good news
is they're starting the clock on Damane Clark. Uh. He'd been on non football injury NFI, and they can practice him three weeks before having to make some sort of decision on him. That is very interesting and a course.
Damon Clark is the fifth round draft pick out of LSU, number one seventy six overall, and at the time that the Cowboys drafted him, because of his injury issue, it was suspected that, ah, this might be a red shirt year, or at best it maybe it'll be December before he'll be able to play, And for them to already start the clock in early October is really surging. Maybe by the beginning of November. Somebody asked me today, like, well,
where do you play him? And I said, well, I said, have you seen this guy what he looks like as a linebacker? I said, special teams for sure, once he's ready to go. And he's been here, Mike McCarthy pointed out, he's here seven days a week rehabbing running. You know, when you can do all the running. It was a neck surgery. He had to fuse the discs in his neck. So we're still we're still red shirting professionals redchard. I'm just sort of unofficially, Yeah, I didn't know how big
using that term. So, I mean, this guy was pretty darn good at lsuin. Well, here's the other thing, just to picture him. Okay, what is Micah Parsons listed at Parsons is probably listened at six four two sixty five six five, he's listed at six three two forty five to forty five. WA's demon Clark listed at six three two forty five. So I mean you're getting a player
of that same build, right uh. And you know the other thing with line, but he's more defined like this guy's stout really, so he's more he's not all two forty five the same like for instance myself, I'm not He's probably got one arm lineup. Which one did this to you? It was a bad guy. You could put Tom Brady at the cabin. You could put two of Bill's arms into one of his. Guy's got some arms, let me tell you. So Yeah, that's it. That's encouraging to hear. And and for his case too, I've not
been hearing much from Sam Williams. He's been out there, he hadn't had a sack, but he's been showing up. He made progress this week. There was no penalty this week. Yeah, there you go, yeah or dumb call Okay, Yeah, quarterbacks in the air, he's free game. To me, I was like, okay, yeah on the sideline. Yeah, when they got called for the lad he had done. Hey, it's a quarterback. Yeah, you know he's a running back running now. Yes, And
he's still in bounds. Care if he's in the air sliding, No, and he's holding that You can hold the ball out when you're in the air, right, And quarterbacks have been warned if you're gonna try to tip be toed down that sideline and try to gain extra yards, you are fair game. Oh and I know I saw when I told you, I saw some guy struggling to get off the field, and then they called too many, too many guys on the field on him. It was the tight
end from Tampa Bay. Great. Yes, yes, he's in bad shape. Yeah, yeah, and and and they called it, and it's like, let the guy get off. You can see he's struggling, he's trying to get off. He's not in the game. God, these guys could be so anal about things. I swear to God, is it time you have anything else for us? I do you can't give me time for Mike Shin God, I want to ask you guys a question, what is the fastest you will go on sam Rayburn Tollway? Like
even if you're in a hurry, depends on the car. Man. If sam Rayburn Tollway would be one twenty one, yes, North Dallas Man, if I mean comfortably comfortably? Yeah, you could. You could push ninety five comfortably on one. Well, that must have been him that because I know what I do. I said with the I said it on seventy, okay, and I go seventy and the way stay to the right, staying that stay to the right, that left lane. No, you can't be there. You're the guy that causes all
the fables. I was going eighty and some guy came by me like I was standing still. He had to be going ninety. Maybe it was it was a dark car with one of those phony muffler things that make a lot of noise that you pay extra four and it doesn't and it doesn't do anything to make the car go faster. Right when was this guy blew by me this morning? Chris needs no time morning? It was probably around do you have two kids in the car with eight or eight fifteen? You have two kids in
the car with him going to school? Now? He was by himself. I mean he flew by me and I'm going, how fast will you go? Man? What time did the players have to be here today? Yeah, that's funny. You said it might have been getting closed, and yeah, it might have been getting closed. That's why back when they were at the ranch and guys would show up late, Yeah, don't don't be in their way because they were flying, especially to make sure that they got there for Joe
Amazonal Special Teams meeting. That if you weren't there ten minutes ahead, you were late, and he locked the door on you. Traffic is not your friend when you're trying to make it to practice or to a podcast. So anyway, there you go. All right. I like that. Um see those mix shots they come in all shapes. Oh, yes they do. Yeah. I like that. That wasn't a query. I like that A query A query? Huh all right, So I'm trying to think anything else that Mike gave
us some updates that he normally doesn't. Uh No, I think that was good. Uh. He gave the team the speech this morning about their assessment of the first month of the season four games. What was good or through the first quarter of the season, even though it's a seventeen game schedule, that quarter in the third right or so. Yeah, I don't know how you whatever put it, but anyway, he gave them a list of things, and a couple
of things is, uh, the pre snap penalties have to improve. Uh. And then the other one was basically got to do better on first and second down so they don't struggle as much on third down because their third down conversion rate is probably not what they wanted. When we when we're not running the ball, well, ye, first and second down, then you know what we're stuck with and not third down?
Is it could be better? You look at the n Nate any stuff, Nate stop bro Okay, come on, so they well, I didn't answer yesterday, so now he's on news. There are sixteen of fifty three on third down. That's thirty point two percent. You want to be thirty five to forty percent. That's again, a good defense, A good defense will cover all of that up right. As long as your defense is stopping them on third downs, then that that thirty something percent, that's not a big factor. Nate.
Nate's out working. Our producer Nate Newton has sent a message saying bill break time. Thank you, We're back with another mix shot in just a moment. We paid how much for those lessons? How's that for doubling up? All right? I love it? Okay, do you have anything else that you want to get
into something? If you don't, Okay, I just saw on Twitter that Colts running back Jonathan Taylor has been ruled out of the Thursday night game against Denver with a high ankle sprain. On my drive end today, I was listening to Sirius NFL Radio and I really enjoy listening to rich Gannon on there. He again, he does a great job. And I think he's tight with McCarthy because he was with Kansas City maybe when McCarthy was there. I'm not sure. He says says some things about McCarthy, Yeah,
something like that. Anyway, that's one of the reason. And say, okay, I'll listen to listen to again in here and may give me a little tidbit or whatever. But he's very knowledgeable about all the teams and everything. But one thing that he was talking about today was the gre he says, and he was talking about the cults, and he's talking about the leadership on that Colts team because they are really struggling right now. You know, they had a lackluster
game against Tennessee. They played lackluster all year outside of their win against Kansas City. Okay, he said, he's saying the leadership on that team needs to step up. They need to do some real soul searching, and the players need to take over that team, the veteran players on that team. And what he said is the great coaches.
He wasn't being critical of Frank w Reich, their head coach, but he says that the great he believes the great coaches in this league figure out a way for the players to be the owner, to take ownership of the team and to be the real leaders of the team. Okay, so my question to you is is you agree with that and set laid on this Cowboys team. Is that something that has happened, because that's when he was talking
about it. I was thinking about McCarthy's coaching style and that is that it goes hand in hand with what I think McCarthy does as a head coach. Bill puss Sells. I wasn't. I was only there with one year with plus Sells, so he didn't give me a chance to
be pissed off at him. He had pissed off a lot of the players and veterans that had been there, And I think it was by design because when I stepped into that locker room, you could tell the veterans that were running the running the whole joint, and pass sales was nowhere to be found. So I believe he allowed us to commiserate amongst ourselves in spite of him. You understand, he wants us. He would rather the players be in unison hating him, as opposed to having a
fractured locker room worrying about what management thinks. So I thought he was really good at that by having the guys galvanize as a locker room as a team and really uh having their own leadership going inside the inside the locker room. You know that that sounds familiar because one of he put all those little mind vitamins up in the locker room the signs, and one of the signs said something about winners stay together as a team.
Losers have small factions that complained each other right right, and and so that sounds, you know, just tries to set up. So I stepped in. You could tell that the guys ran the locker room. By the way. Rich Ginnon was with the Chiefs from nineteen ninety five through nineteen ninety eight and Mike McCarthy was the quarterbacks coach for the Chiefs from nineteen ninety five through nineteen ninety eight.
So they are you know that they're closing, you know when you look at that coach team, and we saw a hard knocks during the season, I believe, and they gambled on Wentz big time. But in spite of that, they did have leadership on that team, especially from the defense side, and the running game was going strong. Taylor was he was bawling, and you know, Wentz wasn't doing so well. Now you've got an offensive line, I guess they must be a little bit, uh having some problems
there on the offensive line. They can't run the ball up there, you say, And you got an older quarterback, So Mattie Matt Ryan is back there struggling, even though he did have that one game that was almost redemption for them, but they came back and did the same thing. So what was the what's the middle linebacker? His name Leonard Leonard, Shaquille Leonard now Darius Leonard. Yeah, yeah, I mean he was he was. He got hurt last year, if I'm not mistaken, but that was the leader of
that team, and he's been hurt this year. He's off and on. Yeah, I think that that really hurts him more than anything, is not happing. He's the Michael Parsons of that squad. So to answer your question, you've got Dak, Zack Martin, to Marcus Lawrence I think, and in a probably quieter way, Anthony Brown. But those are the guys that have been here, and I think they have a
say in the locker room. I know Zach does for sure, uh not when the media is in there, but for the team, and we know Dak for sure, u Zeke a little bit. And then Parsons, Uh, you know, even as a rookie last year, you know, by just the way he played command respect, right, Yeah, I mean, and and you go back to even Dak in Zeke's rookie year, by the way they played they commanded respect, step up. Yeah, in that locker room. Yeah, So sometimes you know it has to be it can't be Okay, I'm going to
be a leader. It's got to be organic, it's got to evolve. And I think Mike has allowed that to happen, uh in his locker room now by action. And I don't know that Jimmy wanted any leaders in that locker room, but there were leaders in but there was Yeah, but he was, whether whether it was him trying to get it organized or not Michael Irvin. And I think he appreciated the fact that Michael Levin stepped up. Yeah, Yeah, because Mike stepped up big time. He gave Yeah, he
would interrupt his post practice speeches. Mike would stand up and just take over. So and j I don't remember Jimmy getting pissed off about that at all. So I don't think he minded certain ones being those leaders. Of course, the triplets, that's that's the ultimate. And he allowed others to come in and do the same. Charles Haley, you know, Dion. He allowed them all to come in and do their own thing, and it all led to because they were
all winners. Even Nate, I know he's listening. Even Nate in his own way, Nate says, when I'm talking all that funny trash around here. But when Late was on the field, no, he had respect from his teammates, no doubt a battle. And there's the other part of it is because you talk about leadership like that, there's also
I could feel it even after the Giants win. In the locker room after the game, you could tell that this was a It was a loud, boisterous type locker room setting where guys were comfortable talking to each other and yelling across the room. Go back to the nineties Cowboys, and we were able to sit in that locker room for hours at a time, and with Nate in there, and and you know they were and that's that's all healthy. That that's how you build a team and build relationships
on the team and stuff. Well, this this locker room during the week, you missed it even after they lost the Tampa Bay game. But for the next couple of weeks, you know, they were bringing certain guys out in the hallway to do the interviews like group type thing. There was so much noise at that end of the locker room. You couldn't hardly hear what those guys were saying in the hallway, right And it was a bunch of the
dbs always right. I mean, they were at each other and whatever the topic was, right, they were, they were back. That's the way they were. After the Giants game and meetings in there, the whole defensive end of the locker room, they were yelling about something. I don't even know what they were yelling about, but all I know is that's healthy. Yeah, that is good stuff right there. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And after the Cincinnati game. It was during that week,
it was the same thing. And I don't know if they were arguing about college football or some player how good he was or wasn't. They could have been talking basketball. I don't know. I mean what you mentioned, I could remember Friday's back at the ranch, and you know, the work is done, so now they're blowing off steam. I've spent more time listening to Nate about whatever athletic endeavor
you wanted to talk about. You want to talk boxing, We talked boxing, wanted to talk basketball, And I told him, I said, I wasted more hours in my life listening to you on Friday, right when I needed to get work done. But it was so good that I didn't want to leave, and they don't want to go home. Yeah, and they didn't. You're right, but you know the early
eighties cowboys were like that. Yeah right. I mean now, the locker room was always boisterous, and we always had that guy, whether it was Springs, you know, whether it was I'm a guy. They had so many guys do us set was. It was funny when he wanted to be you know, we just had guys in there. Harvey Morden was a guy that just was always boisterous and and he was just sign of confidence. I mean, it's
a camaraderie, that's what it is. It's come because as we you know, we call it play the dozens or whatever, as we talk about each other and all that kind of stuff. It comes from a good place, especially your quadrant. Yes, the gether well they called it gather word. Yeah. But then you take it to the field too, and then you're comfortable with that camaraderie that you're talking about. So when you're talking and you know that someone sees it
on TV and they's all they're mad at each other. No, not step up, man, And sometimes you I'll apologize, I'm mad at myself. I got it. Next time I should step up my bad So yeah, I could remember Dutton with that deep voice is um. It was after It was after that preseason game, must have been eighty six, I want to say against the Bears. Randy White got thrown out. He got in that fight and he took the guys helmet off and bumped him on the head with it. At that time, it was right at Randy'll
tell you all. It was so hot out there. I didn't want to play anyway. It was a preseason game. But anyway, so we're in the locker room, we're talking about it, and Dutton stands up in their little quadrants, so to everybody they had it was like four quadrants in the locker room. Everybody was kind of segregated. And uh, Dutton stands up and he goes, yeah, and you know what Randy told the guy. He goes, if you want to finish this, we'll meet in the locker room in
the parking lot afterwards. How he just screams it out right, and it was probably a true story. And that doesn't doesn't voice It would elevate always with management. He never thought. He never taught bad about his own teammates, right. He was always mad at Tom Landry or Gila and I promise you. That is the only person I think Tom Landry was ever afraid of. Yes, Tom is this size and John could you imagine if you couldn't control John
doesn't doing the practice great man or tried to find him. Yeah, no, I'm not getting fined. Well I like that. Yes, that was good. So I've got the I've got a good feeling about this team from that standpoint too, because they hung together camaraderie. He didn't gettured Tapa trend and it
was not yeah, very very, very easily. And I think that's one of the things that McCarthy was pointing out in his little team meeting this morning, about how they stuck together and everybody stepped up and we overcame things. And it ain't pretty. No, it ain't pretty. I love winning ugly and and again and and and as you know, the final point he was making is and we have
a lot to improve on. We still have. And you've got two games, two road games that are coming up against the defending Super Bowl champ I don't care that they are two and two and coming off a loss, and then against the team the only unbeaten team in the league right now leading your division, and so it's like never a good thing as a night game in Philadelphia. They're not talking about that in that logger. The fans
need to worry about that. Yeah, we'll be okay, all right, so plenty to get to tomorrow on the next edition of Mix Shot So Cowboys. This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
