The following. He's a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club Cowboys. This is Mick Shot screaming live on Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the official Dallas Cowboys at now Here are Bill Jones, Everson Walls, and Nicky Spagnola. It is a Thursday here inside the s WBC podcast studio at Ford Center at the Star
in Frisco, and this is Dak Prescott Thursday Shot. Okay, okay, Everson Walls, make a Spagnola, Bill Jones, But the focus is on Dak because why Mickey, Because today is his dated, his interview day. So sometime within the course of the next half hour, probably Hills, Dak Prescott will be speaking with the media here and we will give you reports as soon as we can on what he is seeing about his status for Sunday night against the Minnesota Vikings.
I wish we could be there at Minnesota or Dak's Prescott. What do you what do you think, Hannah want to see? You want to see them the practice itself? Right? I wish we had a like a I don't think the wireless mike would go that fire, right. I could stand there and just hold it, Mickey. Saw the practice, not the entire print, not the part that counts. Yeah, and you go to give us the same report you did yesterday as long as yesterday's they did karaoke again, by okay,
good guys do that. Yeah. I heard they were singing prints right, Yeah, they were playing prints. Yes, of course, absolutely did not want to set them up for that, yes man. Um So he continued his rehab Okay, basically kind of upgraded a little bit faster. I saw no residual effect of whatever he did yesterday, So I'm I'm here, I'm in. He's good to go. I'll just say it right now. And uh he he Actually I saw him
do some running too. It wasn't just with the chords and uh he actually took a snap and did a read it read option and kept the ball and ran into the end zone. Sohow but this was for It wasn't in team. It was just in there little you know, he's messing with you guys, right well, I mean everything that does now you know, it's for the everybody. Everybody's keeping an eye and everybody. He knows every move. He's mad. I think he's having a little fun with he was
throwing the ball fine. When he ran to the end zone, I'm sure he's like, yeah, what are they gonna say? Yeah? Yeah, well you know how far he ran? Like three yards right? And then they turn around and go the other way three yards right, because everybody's like, oh look that's a great wow, well the move. Did you see it? I said, well, they turned it around and then went the other way three yards sou So yeah, it looked like all systems go with him. McCarthy said that, uh, he you know,
he had a good response to the workout. Um, and he was planning on kind of doing the same thing today. So um, I'm sure he'll be listed as limited and tomorrow when they have to give a designation and of the practice because they don't practice on Friday, it'll be the estimation and it'll be limited and questionable, and then he'll everyone can speculate hate a bad The cowboys better look out. Yeah, I don't think they should do before. You know what everyone's telling them about how cowboys should
be real careful. As if the cowboys don't know to be very careful, right, it's so silly man. And all I know is so I went back. I mentioned it, I think yesterday, but I went back and looked at the stats. Right the twenty fourteen playoff game when Aaron Rodgers had a calf muscle tear they called it. It was the game against the Cowboys. He was twenty four of thirty five for three hundred and sixty. Went over
this already. Man, I hate hearing those. Yes, I hate you in those numbers, and he had a quarterback rating of one hundred and twenty five point four. You know why I hate hearing that because I was there and it was at eighteen sixteen. That was fourteen. Yes, that's why I hate you in that, because I was there for what happened here, yes, yeah, here right to this day. It just so, I'm thinking Aaron Rodgers played on one leg in that game, So just throw some spit on it.
Let's go. Yeah, but you're gonna go ahead and very three quarterbacks on the roster. Uh would you do that? Mike McCarthy said that would be a thought, okay, And so no career being the third quarterback, right exactly? I think that. I mean, who's it gonna who's it gonna cost him? Like some guy that's gonna play special teams I don't know, I think you to be little special teamers. Yeah, but I meaning if that's all the guys good Nickson
would like that money this way to get well. No, I mean it's not calling somebody up from the practice squad. But you know, there's no need to do it if if you're gonna keep three h three quarterbacks, right so, I think as an insurance policy, I see no problem with it whatso. And as McCarthy said, it's just the nature of those calf injuries, you're still yeah, you're still concerned about it, even if he's out there playing, you know, and and and you know, they still have their two
open spots on the fifty three. I think one of them might go to Kelvin Joseph. Just watching the special teams workout that we get to watch, he was working on punt return, not as a returner, as the hold up guy on the gunner. And that's not a surprise since his date is Tuesday, that they have to activate him anyway exactly though, So they may do. He may get activated and then Andy out right take up what
his spots were on the special team, right so. Yeah, so that's one of the spots that has been vacated on the roster and so we've we've settled that one. You're gonna ahead, go ahead, and you're gonna call that Kelvin Joseph Ris Kennedy. And so for the Brent Urban spot on the roster, what are you gonna do? Well, Dorin's Armstrong's gonna play Okay, So that's but he's already on the roster. Um you don't have to make another move.
But if they wanted to, and depending on how Michael Gallop looks, you can get Michael Gallop out there also. And I don't know that you want to start him, but you might be the Yeah. Absolutely, he practiced yesterday. He did, and he was out there again today and did his rehab along with Tyron Smith and Zeke and Trayvon Digs. Those guys all were on the resistance chords with Dakh and they all looked like they were doing just fine. And then they reported to their positions, so
everybody was good to go. Yeah, Tyron, that's that's that makes me feel much better. Yes, So that is really the decision. I think they've already made the decision. They're going with the three quarterbacks because of the nature of the calf injury, whatever, you just want to make sure.
And so the decision would be Gallup versus the special teamer, right, somebody somebody else And and and I don't think, I mean, I don't know that they do Tristan Hill after he's been out all this time, and he's had today Today was his only padded practice since the week of Game five last year. So I don't know that you do that, Francis Bernard, I guess is the only other guy I could see doing bringing up is Sean McEwan to that
fifty three. And then you don't have to mess with Sprinkle, And I think he might be out of He would be because he was in the same position as Rawlston and he's he's on the fifty three. Did they end up signing him to the I'm trying did the same
thing with Ralston, right yeah, and then they cut Rawlston. Yeah, Sprinkle is on the fifth three, right yeah, yeah, So but if they wanted to, what could do happen on that is when McEwen's ready, Sprinkle gets cut and then they try to put him on the practice spody exactly when they need another spot, because at some point you're going to need some more spots for all these It's amazing the management of the roster, how much more complicated it has gotten with the new rules the last couple
of years due to COVID, with the three week i R and everything, yeah and uh, and the expanded practice squad and the ability to bring up guys for a certain number is it three times you can bring them up, promote them from the practice squat, I think, which is what they did with Ralston and Sprinkle, And then they had to expose Ralston the waivers. You know, once you um made that decision to you needed that roster spot. But yeah, whoever is making the final call on that
each week? I mean, the head's got to be spinning. There's got to be multiple people. Oh yeah, I've been that are managing that as the weeks go along, here and so and then. The only other practice update, Lale Collins was back out there, so evidently he did well yesterday. McCarthy intimated that he got some snaps at guard said it was like riding a bicycle. He jumped right in there.
But again, when we were watching them do their positional drills, when they lined up five offensive linemen, Steele was at right tackle and Collins came in after him. So the only thing I can think of with this thing about guard is maybe they want Lale Collins to be active as the backup swing tackle and also the backup left guard, because evidently they have not used that's talented. They haven't used McGovern as the left guard very much. He's always been on the right side. So we can we try
out at center as well. Well. Might have to see put his hand one else, but it sounded like he had a good practice yesterday and um, so we'll see where that one goes. And you know, there's all these notions of what they're going to trade, you know, Layal Collins at the trade deadline, and all I'm saying is, why would you trade the second best tackle on your team? And I don't care if Steele starts, He's still the
next best tackle to Tyrn Smith. And and don't do anything to diminish your fifty three man roster when you're five and one h and have a three and a half game lead and try to get cute, right, That just makes no sense to me. Who is saying I mean, you don't have to tell me who's saying it, But
that's what Why would anyone sound you're one injury away? Yes, yes, you're starting tie insecky yes, okay, And that's why I said, if you let my suggestion, don't sound too excited about I mean, I just know your body language with twisting in your chair. If they can qualify Collins being the backup swing, tackled and tied in the secty doesn't have to be active for the game. And I nothing against him. He's thirty six years old and he doesn't move very well.
So if you were gonna pick the most diverse offensive lineman, who would it be on this team right now? Well? And I don't mean just able to play him, I mean Zach Zack Martin. Zach Martin would be the most diverse. Yeah, if you could him up at any position. Yeah, right, okay, So take take the future Hall of Famer out of
the mind now, thank you, thank you? Are you looking at the Collins Colin mc govern government is very very hard center, still working, and and I bet he could catch the ball too, probably, man, wait on that, that's we'll run that one in so far. That's right there with him, that's what right there with my Michael Parsons the personal protector on the Plenty special that's the big map to him, the big Mac specialist. Who's somebody somebody that I really think benefited from this bye week is Cooper,
Mary Cooper. Yeah, because he's always banged out, got something, He's got something all the time, and we haven't heard a peep from him, which is a good thing. And it sounded like the way McCarthy answered the question with Tyron Smith. I think he said something to affect. It's a long season, so I think they'll go easy on him on Wednesdays and uh, make sure they're not wearing him out in practice, because that does seem to be what happens, especially the last couple of years. Yeah. Yeah,
so you don't want to do that. So now are you on Twitter right now? I am, yes, I mean you're looking at Twitter. I was. Did you happen to see you? Mary Cooper? Is that what made you think of a mark? Because because on Twitter right now Amari Cooper talking to the media and the quote the bye week always feels longer for the body. At least I came back pretty healthy. I feel healthy. It's close to that I'll be So that was a very tight Yeah, I put it down and the other ones. Okay, So
we were talking about Deck's performance. You know this uh you know what you call it, you know, the behind his rehab regiment. Yes, well not just that, but this particular moment that's coming up to where he's going to give us a you know, just kind of a preview, yeah, of what he can do. So he's gonna say still has that, he still has that session to go correct. Yeah, that's probably about now, Oh we think he's doing that or before two o'clock. Yeah, and so that's gonna be
the one where he tests everything. I mean, we're gonna be doing roll without bootlegs. No, no, you're talking, Oh he's talking the interview, No interviews. No, I'm talking about out in practice. When he's going to do the dress rehearsal today would today would be in the padded practice. Okay, So to be interesting to see how much which we
can't see. Yeah, but they're going to give us a report and then now everyone's waiting on that, yeah, because the injury reports so far has him limited of course, as was Dorance Armstrong, Dak Prescott, Treyvon Diggs and tiring and for everyone out there aren't familiar with the schedule. They've practiced, and now the post practice interview with Dak is what we're waiting on, and so we will see how much Dak reveals about what he did at practice.
So did he have the dress rehearsal today? And I don't mean that would be your question to Dak if you were out there right now ready to interview Dak knows ask the question for somebody's going to ask the question, right, And then the key practice will be Saturday, because they don't practice Friday. They practice Saturday, and then they get on the plane and go to Minneapolis, right exactly. Doesn't
that make it nervous that they practice on Saturday? Yes, you know, with with Dak's injury, you know, basically based on how tedious this whole thing is. And well, he goes out there on Saturday. You know, we're feeling good after the dress rehearsal tomorrow, I guess or whenever that you know what it is, you won't tell anybody, So you do, you do that, then you come back on Saturday. You're feeling good, You've already given the check. Okay, you can go ahead, go with God. And he goes out
there on Saturday. Yeah, but it's not a hard practice. Sort of like Danny White pulling his hamstring doing sprints on Saturday before the Denver game that year. There are so many things that you remember. Spat, I remember that that, and Randy White also hurt himself on the it's supposed walked through before that game. So Mark toooney, I think ended up playing both defensive tackle and offensive. Well, we can come present day. We can come present day on it. Right,
was it last year? Yes, but that was before the game. That's what I mean. Yeah, you can. You can hurt yourself in pregame warm up. Oh that's right. Yeah, So but you gotta warm up, you gotta practice, and so you know, you can work yourself on the day off stepping up. Say, when I was with the Giants, they had their own tradition, Pepper LT Banks, Renee Thompson Collins. We were all out there after the Saturday practice. If we had a home game, we would stay out there
and play flat football. I mean we were balling too. I mean we could have easily gotten hurting. No one, No one ever got hurt. LT got mad at me one time because I pushed them down. But otherwise everybody was no injuries at all, so go figure. Yeah, how soft day all these days? And speaking of that, yes, there is an injury around the NFL that I want to mention in a second. And I want to compare this all pro player with a couple of all pro players from the Cowboys past and pose a question when
we come back here on mix shots. Honey, big news, Gary? Are you okay? Oh? I'm not Gary anymore. I'm Jackie Flash. What see? I want the latest smartphone, but the best deals are only for new customers. So it was okay, anything else you need to get to from your notes that are laid out in front of you. Yes, okay, this is the cautionary tale about as soon as somebody with a name gets released or they're available and they're
old or older, Oh you gotta pick that guy. Yeah, experience experience, Yes, yes, So at thirty two years old, the Arizona Cardinals signed JJ Watt to a two year, twenty eight million dollars deal with twenty million guaranteed and a twelve million dollars signing bonus that you cannot get away from. The Saldis Cap two and he just suffered a dislocated shoulder that needs surgery, and he's going to be out for the season, and they will be on the salary cap next year, and we're going to assume
you can come back from the shoulder surgery. Right, but if not, fifteen million in dead money in twenty twenty two for signing JJ Watt. Okay, Let's go back through the history of JJ Watt over the last now six seasons, right, okay, and this year part of the cautionary tale. By this year, at age thirty two, he started seven games for the Arizona Cardinals, seven out of seventeen. Last year, he did play a full season for the Houston Texans sixteen starts okay.
In two thousand nineteen eight starts, so half a season two eighteen sixteen starts okay. He had a full season in eighteen two thousand and seventeen five starts, in two thousand and sixteen three starts, so he missed thirteen, twenty four, thirty two and now forty two games over a six year period, an average of seven games a season. So he's basically over the last six years only played half a season, and they gave him a twelve million dollars
signing boots. What were the stats before he went that? Well? He was great, that great? He was great right the first five years of his scor two thousand and eleven, two thousand and eleven through two thousand and fifteen. We're talking a three time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, five time Pro Bowler, and the one of the greatest defensive players or players to play this game over that first five years of his career. And but since then he hasn't been available. Now this year, Uh, what did
he have seven secks? No? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, I didn't have that, man, because I think six he made a huge play. Uh if I'm not mistaken to haven win the other day, Let's see, let's see what Everson's on it there? Not seven but six sacks this year. No, I'm no, no, no no, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm reading the wrong calling there, wrong calling. Okay, that would be
a zero this year he has zero sexes. It's hard to sack the quarterback from that position, which is why he was so great the first five years of his career, because he was on the field his first five years of his career to run it down five and a half sacks as a rookie. Okay, and okay, you can make this comparison. He was taken right after Tyrn Smith was taken in that twenty eleven draft, and the Cowboys obviously had a need at tackle. But you can also look at okay, or do you get the Hall of
Fame defensive line? You don't question day I try, never, never ever questioned, even when JJ Watt in his second and even when JJ Watt in the second year of his career was getting twenty and a half sacks, in the third year of his career ten and a half sacks, in the fourth year twenty and a half sacks again, and in the fifth year seventeen and a half sacks. That is obviously first ballot Hall of Fame worthy and one of the greatest players to play this game the
first five years of his career. But now we're looking eleven years in, he's age thirty two, and you see, is not because of injury having the ability to stay on the field the last six years. Let me pose the question to you. Let's say, and hopefully JJ Watter come back from this and he'll play another five years and be great, whatever, But to compare. I want you to compare J. J. Watt his career to Randy White. What do you think, Oh, Randy White? What do I
think about? What? I mean? Give me something? I mean, had you asked me who I would take? Who has had? Who had or has had the better NFL career? Randy White or J. J. Watt, There's no doubt it's Randy Whitte. J J. Watt. Has he ever been to a Super Bowl? No? Okay, has he ever been the MVP? Well, since he had been to a super Bowl, he can't super Bowl. Let's just start right there. I mean, and this is just me. I mean, I'm going off the rails. I take Harvy
Watton over J. J. Watt. I'm sorry, what do you talk about one hundred and twenty plus sacks? See, that's the other thing they get skewed on on those players that played in the seventies prior to the NFL keeping track of sacks is uh. Now the Cowboys have gone back and track the sacks, but it doesn't get a lot of play. Like if you look on a Wikipedia page, it will not show, uh, necessarily that Harvey Martin had all the sacks that he had or the NFL dot
Com it won't. So yeah, the offer. And let's remember Randy played fourteen seasons, right and at a pretty high level until maybe last there's no Parson see but I think but people who were born after nineteen ninety, you know, and Randy played through eighty nine and aren't familiar with Randy White's career through eighty eight through eighty eight, that's right, yeah, because two to always here through eighty nine. Um, but aren't that familiar with Randy White's career than the recent
see bias stakes over and again. This is taken nothing away from J. J. Watt, but and to but just to tell people who did not see Randy White play what a great player Randy White was. I guess we just take it for granted that people know but because of our age, you know, right, and I familiarity with it.
But to me, when you start looking at the Super Bowls, you look at the number of all pros, you look at his reputation alone, uh, and you look at the numbers, I think Randy wins pretty much hands down every time. He didn't necessarily have, of course, to twenty and a half sacks and all of that, but man, he caused a lot. I think the Cowboys having credited with one hundred and eleven sacks or something like that. Yeah, they were going, yeah for a defensive time, did not know
we have that many. That is a lot of sacks, and that is impressive. And we talked about the tackle position. Those guys that did the study, they went back and looked at all the old film and took Harvey sacks and took sacks into account that didn't get counted eighty two. I didn't bring that up, you know. It happened in the summer and I had I don't know what I did with the research, but there were two because eighty two was when the NFL officially counted sacks, it became
an official statistic. Before that, it was just kept by the teams. So they didn't sanction all those. But these guys went back and looked at all the film from nineteen sixty on and and credited a bunch of guys with more sacks than they end up because if you look a look at Harvey Martin's stats, he only had two years that were qualified for eighty two on right. Uh. Same thing with Randy White, Uh, same thing with Ed Uh and they found all the sacks that would have
been sacks that didn't get recognized. Did they give you? Do you have numbers? I did? He had Harvey Mark. I'm looking at Harvey right now. Nineteen seventy seven, twenty three sacks. Okay, that's not recognized by the NFL. Okay, somebody, and sixteen sacks and seven okay, twenty three, sixteen and seventy eight. There's thirty nine, ten and seventy nine. That's forty nine, twelve and eighty. That's sixty one, ten and eighty one. That's seventy one, eight and eighty two and
two and eighty three. So there's eighty one sacks over a six year period there he ended up. I think if I remember Cuck like in the top ten of all time sacks, Harvey, it moved him or whatever his number was, it moved him up at least ten or you know what's so funny if you would if I would call this is like around twenty years ago, everybody's talking about he needs to be in here and needs to be in there. Ring of Vanda Hall of Fame. They had actually done a of some type of correction
and they took away two of his sex. I believe he was a credit with one twenty three at one time and they dropped it down the one twenty one. According to Cowboys stats, Martin is unofficially credited with a total of one hundred fourteen sacks according to these Wikipedia page I'm looking at right now, um, which is a
nice little exercise Shannon's doing. When they do the I think it's called cross talk on Wednesday night, they bring back a former player and he gets on their Wikipedia page and says, Okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna give you. I'm gonna give you five facts. Tell me if they're accurate. Yeah, yeah, I love it. I love it. And so the twenty three sacks season was in nineteen seventy seven. It was
at a fourteen game season. Yes, it was the last four last fourteen game season, seventy eight, so impressive sixteen yeah, and then went to strike you in eighty two, right, yeah, yeah, which is why his numbers were down there, and he had and ever since too, right of course, Yeah, I had seven picks in Yeah, we're not talking about me, all right, So we are in agreement. Then on Randy White, yes, okay, and will throw Bob Lillian there too. Yeah, yes, yeah, okay,
and you would expect that. Here we're talking. We're talking tackles, but we're talking tackles. They're having a good different conversation on Cardinals dot com. But we're right. Last we have gone, Bill just went a little too fast. Yeah, I thought I
thought Jack, Mike went out. You just froze up. You didn't just stop during that moment where when you froze up? How long did it feel like? Five seconds? Yeah, it did feel like it was Probably it's probably a second in the hand, right, That's one of the that's one of the things when you're on television and you're trying to keep going. You've got to keep going, but like you'll lose your train of thought and you just freeze in your mind. You freeze, and it feels like thirty seconds.
You're stuck with thirty seconds. Tried to find that word. But actually the people at home a lot of times they don't even notice that. Now they don't know, but it's sort of like, it's just did you have that, Mick, did you have that panic feeling that I don't know where to go next? I'm sure our press doesn't. I used to do that on those pregame shows. By the way. Actually,
Zeke did it again yesterday. He was answering a question and he kind of got into the middle of his answers, got into his middle of his answers, and then there was just yes, and it was just this law. I mean, it was a pregnated pause and he goes and you know what he goes. He goes, He goes, Oh, did it again, because he's done it multiple times? Right, he gets it. He gets in the middle of an answer, he forgets what the question was. Hey, we've been there. Oh yes, yes, he gets to talk in I forget
what he's talking about. Absolutely, I forget what I'm talking about. Hey, how about those vikings? Yeah, how about those vikings? What are you gonna do to beat those Vikings on Sunday night. Um, my key running game, my key to victory is going to be better score a bunch of points, because I think you're going to give up a bunch of points. Now, I'm somewhat worried about the defense. I am too, And I don't know what everyone thinks about in this room.
Around the league, everyone's so quarterback happy and prejudice and discriminatory. I think Kirk Cousins plays above his head every week and that makes me nervous because he can be he can inspire his team very well. We talked about the bad the bad win the bad losses, but the I'm sorry, the close losses and the lucky wins that they had, and you look at how well they played against some
decent teams. I don't feel comfortable about them coming in here, especially with the good wide recy where they have good wide receiver verse. Sorry, thank you very much. Don't know much about the running game. Talk to me. Dalvin Cook is back in the saddle. I remember he was hurt for me. It was hurt. Yeah, he's back and uh he's one game, good game. Previous game last week had he had one hundred some yards. Yes, and Kirk Cousins is completing sixty nine point five percent of his passes.
He's got thirteen touchdowns, two interceptions. Good, and he's got a one oh five point four quarterback. Sounds very familiar and his targets. Just Jefferson's forty one catches for five hundred and forty two yards, three touchdowns, and then Theeland thirty seven catches, five touchdowns. And of course Justin Jefferson was a Pro Bowler as a rookie last year, had eighty eight catches for fourteen hundred yards and seven touchdowns his rookie season out of laeland has been in the
Pro Bowl twice. And he caught a one hand on us if I'm not mistaken, and not only they've got a one two punch at running back, just like the Cowboys do with Zeke and Tony Pollard. This season, Dalvin Cook, as you alluded to Everson, He's missed a couple of
games with injuries. But Alexander Madison comes in and runs for over one hundred yards in the games that Cook missed, and so his last game, Cook's last game against Carolina one hundred and forty yards on twenty nine carries, so they really ran the ball and against Arizona at one hundred and thirty one yards on twenty two carries, while Madison had one hundred and twelve against Seattle and thirteen
against Detroit. And just to remind you of last year, although the Cowboys came back after trailing twenty eight twenty four with nine thirty seven left, they came back to score and win the game against Minnesota Dalvin Cook and so this probably not representative this defense, but last year he rushed for one hundred and fifteen yards, Land had eight catches for one hundred and twenty two, and the rookie Jefferson had three for eighty six, including a thirty
nine yard touchdown. So to me, this game is gonna come down. And they finished with four hundred and thirty yards total offense, Cousins through for three oh five and three touchdowns. He had one hundred and forty quarterback rating. So to me, you know, whatever the Cowboys offense does, this defense, I think this is the test now where they're at. This is going to be arguably the best quarterback they've played since Herbert. Yeah, Herbert, though he smirked,
he must not think much of Justin Herbert not too much. Okay, Okay, Well you had Brady and Herbert to start this size and then yeah, and then you had Sam Darnold who's fading quickly with us Hurt Hurts who have already faded, Daniel Jones who's kind of coming on, and then Mac Jones who's yea now right, you gotta look aod they're playing, so yes, not get to it. So Kirk Cousins would
be the best quarterback, and they've had problems defending the past. Yes, and and Diggs interceptions can't really which, by the way, camouflage. So if you're the defensive coordinator, you got to go up against Jefferson and feeling if how are you going to play the corners? You're gonna put Digs on one of them, you're gonna double the other. What would you do? I would rather put Diggs on the more experienced wide receiver. Yes, I think he is an amazing Why that? I don't
think he is dynamic as Jefferson. That's why I would rather put Brown and maybe double help out with a safety because you're when you're looking at that figure and you're looking at a steady diet. You're not looking for just a big play. He can do that as well. But he's extremely efficient at moving the chains, so he's going to be intermediate routes are going to be part of his bag. And when you're get in the red zone, we saw what he can do in the red zone. Yeah,
very smart. Okay, he's got the intellect of Ceedee Lamb and Cooper and those guys. So what you're looking at is what you saw in practice, all those training count practices that you had. This is the game where you get this. That's what you're preparing for, these types of games where you know Kirk Cousins is really playing well. His numbers look just like Dax, so you can't just take him for granted. And he's got a running game behind him, right man, you're talking. You're looking to Dallas
Cowboys offense and their third receiver. kJ Osborne's in his second year or fifth round draft pick last year. He's got twenty six catches this year and so he's emerged this year. And when you when you're looking at teams like this, just like with the Cowboys, what did the tight ends look like? Bill? Well? The tight end position for them. Tyler Cocklin has twenty two catches for two
hundred and forty yards and a touchdown. Chris Herndon is they're blocking tight end, so and they're two tights, and then Ben Ellipson is another one. Any small, any small quarterback, just like that. They know how important their tight end is. You can look at all the fluff on the outside and then slide all you want. It's the tight ends that really get you those much needed yards when you need the chain. Move on Herndon, he had thirty one
catches last year. He hasn't put up the numbers this year. But the thing that they've done, Oh go ahead, I was gonna say, but Cocklin's a first down waiting to happen. He's averaging almost eleven yards and catch. Our linebackers are gonna get work. Well, you're talking about cooks are not just running, but you're also talking about receiving. But what they've done, boy, Minnesota has done that. They're getting more and more credit for it now. Is they've invested in
their offensive line. Their offensive line is much better than what it was a couple of years ago. That's why what they've done and I can run it down real quick. Twenty nineteen, they spent a first round draft pick on their starting center, Garrett Bradberry twenty eighteen. The year before that, a second round pick on their right tackle, Brian O'Neill, who's one of the more underrated players in the league. First round draft pick this year, twenty third overall, Christian
Deisaw just started his first game. He had an injury to start the year, and he just started his first game against Carolina. So there's two first round picks and a second rounder there on their offensive line at the center and the two tackle positions. And then Ezra Cleveland is a starting guard who last year as a second round draft pick. So we're talking two first and two seconds on their offensive line. All of that sounds so familiar.
That's exactly right. Yeah, it works too, doesn't it, because then you can run the football. And you know what, by the way, speaking of running the football, uh, last year, the Cowboys ran for one hundred and eighty yards on the Vikings. So and that was got have been Andy Dalton at quarterback, right right? It was? Yeah? Yeah, So so they did run on him. And I heard Zeke was talking about he mentioned that he said the Vikings like to play a lot of shell coverage. I guess,
meaning keeping the safeties over the top. He said, So that means we need to run the foot. Make him bring those safeties down right. When you bring them down, then I will receivers get the feed. Xavier Woods, Oh that's safety for the Vikings. Wow, forgot all about him. The feather one's pretty good. Harrison Smith's five time pro bowler. He's Patrick Peterson's out, he's on engine reserve. Yeah, once
again those old contracts. Yeah, there you got. Mickey started here and I see where Daniel hun has six sacks in six games. Yep. But you know what I noticed three of those half his sacks against Arizona. Against Arizona. That's pretty good. And then the same thing I saw somebody going, well, Everson Griffin's really playing well for him. Well, he's got eleven tackles in five games, but he's got four sacks, but two of them came against Detroit. Well.
And one thing on Hunter, Mike McCarthy been talking with him about him the other day on the Coaches Show. He has a lot of respect for him. He's played against him enough that he has and it's not and it's not just his sacks, right, he's a discipline player. He has a lot of respect for the way plays the run. And he's one of those defensive linemen who you know, most teams they'll rotate in defensive lineman where
you're only playing about thirty five snaps a game. Well, he's one of those guys that gets sixty five snaps a game. So he's on the field all the time. I mean, he's a workhorse. So he's been It's been big for them to have him back this year because he missed all last year with a neck injury. Right, And he's got a bunch of tackles too. It's not just sacks, right, he can be destructed and he usually lines up on the left side, So that'll be Terrence
Steele versus Daniel Hunter. So you like that, Well, we'll see you on Sunday. Y. What happened to the optimism bill? Come on? Just probably? Yeah, I can't wait go get him steal you. You have not been exposed to my love for Daniel Hunter draft. I wanted to draft Daniel Hunter in the first round of that draft. I think you said that yesterday, Yeah, and he I say that every day. Even when the Cowboys aren't playing, and so he was to take a look at this kid. I'll
send you a picture of him when he was at LSU. Okay, okay, which got me mesmerized. When he was twenty years old. He came out at age twenty, did not have very much much in the way of stats at LSU in his career, but you could just see if you watch the film of him, the potential that was there. And obviously Mike Zimmers saw it, but nobody else in the league did because he'd waited. He was still available the eighty eight dick in the draft. You haven't thought to
be a scout? What I do? Remember? What I know? I miss on a lot of them. I just don't talk about it in ten years. In ten years, I aren't going to be saying I told them the draft. Michael Parsons, that's right, that's right, that's right. But I do remember on Draft night we were sitting over at Valley Ranch and I was on a show with Dame Brugler and Brian brought us. I came in and right before they picked Randy Gregory and the Cowboys were on
the clock. Okay, what do you do do? You pull the trigger on Randy Gregory here, and I remember saying, well, I would have pulled the trigger on Daniel Hunter in the first round. He's still here. That's the guy that I want. So but anyway, yeah, so all right, we won't talk about it. Were so okay, who gets the most sacks on Sunday Night? Is it Randy Gregory or against their first round draft pick Derrissol? You go Hun, Terrence Steele. I'll talk more about that, all right. I
think I gotta pick click there you go. All right. More mix shots tomorrow at one thirty Go Cowboys. This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
