The following. Here's a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club Cowboys. This is Mick Shot screaming live on Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the official Dallas Cowboys apt Now Here are Bill Jones, Everson Walls, and Nicky Spagnola. And here we are back in the s w ABC podcast studio at Ford Center, the Star in Frisco and Mickey Spagnolan. How does it look outside? Suns came up, the sun came up, and the sun came up, the sun came It was done yesterday and
I never see it again. And it's a beautiful day here at the Star in Frisco, right making, Except we're not playing the Cowboys stamped Nope, that would We played it Fridays. We played it right to get this team fired up. No, no, did not pay attention. You know what we need to do. We need to play the Cowboys Stampede on Sunday morning as they wasn't too early as they come out onto the field. Wow, that would
be cool. Uh huh, dwell back, everybody else is come on try Yeah, you don't forget your roots, dude, that's right. So how did our picks in our picks to click, Hey pick to click my pick to click work great Tony poll on the opening kickoff. From there, the opening kickoff, I said, I'm gonna willing go to the game ended. If the game ended after the opening kickoff, I win the pick to click Tony Pollard. So he didn't think much of his four carries for eleven yards, no or
one one catch? Wait, you had one catch for thirty two yards. There you go. I don't even remember it was that at the end. Yeah, it was. I do recall, and it was a drop pass right off the bat. I do remember that. I remember, I do recall everything that we said, if it's gonna go wrong, this is how it's going to happen. Then Denver was listening because it happened. You know, like I said, quarterback, solid quarterback.
What was the key to Denver's victory? The old line, the trenches, and they were playing with basically the most of the entire game with three backup offensive linemen. Well, their backup offensive lineman did a better job than the Cowboys and their defensive linemen. Man, I don't know these guys. I waited. At one point during the game, Tyron Smith is a pretty good player. Ye there you go, And Terrence Steele's probably not ready for the Ring of Honor.
Just just and see. That's why I asked the question last week. Are we going to give him the same help like we've been covering for him? Didn't give him enough? Well, now the help wasn't good. I don't even know what to tell you. I don't Well, you can pick this whole thing apart, but let me tell you this little story before the game. I use it for my lead
to my column for today. I'm in the press box about hour before the kickoff and Babe Laufenberg comes walking by and he looks at me and he goes, tell me this. He goes, why am I nervous about this game? That I wasn't nervous all week? Like you know, I wasn't nervous about this game. Now suddenly I am. And I said, I'll tell you why. I got tell you my my little NFL theory. The more you win, the closer are losing. Right, And he looked at me and
he goes, I like that. I like that the percentages At some point you as you got a field goal thing that you on the scene. Yeah, and the more you kicked closer yard to lose. So basically you're like a gloom and doom doo. No, I'm very real thing, and I don't need analytics to have a number for this. I just you can just sense it that if you won sixth straight, at some point you're gonna lose one. You know what I have I you in one note, number two defense in scoring remember that. Yeah, yeah, we
talked about that last way. That's crazy. Number two scoring defense in the league. Vic Fangio's unit at Denver, and he was pretty fired up. He was especially Okay, well, just you've mentioned or Everson did about the kicking field goals, So just go right to the second possession for the Cowboys, fourth and two at the twenty yard line. What do you do, Mickey? That was the That was the play where Fangio was so fired up after the incompletion, and I got some things I want to read to you
about all that. Um I I was, I was good going for it. I know you probably should take the field goal there, but you got the number one offense in the National Football League, the number two rushing offense, and the number three passing offense. And I'm I'm not kicking a field goal that close. I gotta go. And even after even after the other one and the first one, okay,
take back to the first one. I had no problem at all going forward fourth and one after that one because and even from a strategic standpoint, okay, it was like Pollard's kick return was your punt. If you didn't make it, you know, you took over the position. Yeah, yeah, now you can make the case where you can punt them down or whatever. But I had no problem at all on that one the second one. So here's what kind of got in my mind. After they missed the
second one. I started thinking, Oh, guess what Denver's thinking. They disrespected us. They thought they were just going to come in here and everything's gonna wear us, right everything, We're not good enough. So I didn't see this until this morning. So let me read you a couple of these things. Tim Patrick. I had no idea who Tim Patrick was until he catches a forty four yard touchdown pass digs L Defensive Player of the Year the year.
So here's what he said about when he was asked, Yeah right, still anyway, here's what he said about the fact that they actually went for the fourth downs disrespectful. That as disrespectful. They're trying us, and that's what happens when you try us. Teddy Bridgewater, you take the field with a little anger, honestly said of the team going for it on the fourth down, it's like, hey man, they're going for it because they're saying our offense is not going to score or something. We talked about it
in the huddle. We use that as motivation. It was one of those deals where you take the field and okay, you have a little added motivation to it. You can see that today. And then Fangio says, everybody wants to go for it on fourth down, right, fourth and one, fourth and two. They cite all the numbers, so on and so forth. But when you don't get them, it hurts.
And we were the beneficiary of the hurt. And he took advantage of that after they and that's why he was so fired up after they stopped him on the fourth and the second, fourth and two, and so they played and smart coaching, I mean smart for the team to and you know part of that too. Even coming into the game. You know what they were hearing in Denver. They just traded away the face of the franchise, and
and those players, they're not waving a white flag. And they can't beat a team with at least a five hundred record. They excuse me. They lose to all the teams that are five hundred or better, and they beat all the teams with losing records. And I'm sure they heard all of it. And when that those those fourth down plays and then they stopped him on third and one also forced the punt that time, I'm sure that
they were fired up, and it added motivation. I gotta say, man, you know as a form of player that that kind of kills me, It really does. I just got a problem with this, uh selected motivation. Yeah, well I understand, but losses me. Come on, but but but in the game, yeah, the game four, I don't I don't go for you get telling, those are the four games that you lost. You weren't motiva. You weren't motiva. We're just gonna it's like the uh what they called the frog in the
the crab in the in the water. Yea, you just heat up slowly, Okay, we just he we disrespect you slowly. So then you're just gonna lay down. Let's kick your butt. But we turned up to fire a little bit and disrespect you out rightly. Then all of a sudden, you're fired up. So we'll okay to lose as long as you don't disrespect us. So we're okay with Lucy the the But those things that got that team excited. Not only that, but half the crowd was Bronco fans, Cowboy
fans sold out. There was more orange than that. I thought it was Halloween all over again. They looked like a bunch of that's the first time that happens. I mean, Jerry's world is a vacation. No, it's a it's it's the cowboy fans selling out to make money on a game they weren't interested in. Yeah, I was there, and
I was interested until I wasn't. You know, it's bad when they kick a field goal and you can't tell if it was good or not by the crowd reaction because both sides were cheering one way or the other. And that was that was a that was shameful. Okay, Okay. After the fourth and two, what at Denver do they drove eighty yards for a touchdown? Eighty yards and eleven plays, and eight of those plays were running plays. Yep. That was the key to this victory is Denver's ability to
run the foot. They ran for one hundred ninety two yards. That's right. I have here in my notes Melvin Flash, Gordon and I didn't say this. I'm listening to what you guys said last week. Melvin Flash over one hundred I think a four hundred yards on the season. He's right right under Williams four hundred yards. He has over four hundred, just a little under Gordon. But it was both about both of them. We talked about. These are the notes I took coming from you guys Mouth, Jeffonte,
Matt Truck, Williams, Man and Man. I remember leading up to the draft. Leading up to the draft, I was looking at his North Carolina tape. I was going, Wow, this guy is and then Will McClay showed me on the tellustrator three plays if you watch the Mike McCarthy Show, and is available on Dallas Cowboys dot Com the Athleticism and he was on display on Sunday afternoon at at and T Stadium too. So they paid the players on the other team, Well, yeah, absolutely. Stephen Steven pointed that
out this morning too. By the way. But again they took advantage of what would be our normal worries. Right. They took advantage of Terrence Steele at left tackle. We saw Lell Collins okay, and then as the game wore on, he looked like he wore down too, and everybody wanted to know, well, I didn't he play last week? Right? Well,
you got your answer, right. And then the other thing we've been worried about was the and we thought they solved it in Minnesota the way they played defensively, right, Well, all of a sudden, as I said, just when you thought it was safe to come out in the dark, the Boogeyman got you right. They couldn't stop the run on the edges. The defensive ends got taken advantage of. You know, they sort of stayed away from Randy Gregory's side, but boy, they attacked whoever was playing defensive end on
the other side. We thought, you know, Goldston was coming along, Armstrong, all oxnar right, bash them. Those guys couldn't. They couldn't hold the edge against the run. And they were making a concerted effort to go right there. So and you had your linebackers working there, yes, and they were on their own because the offensive line was getting to them right. And then the other thing that I'd been harping on all year last week it disappeared, but boy did it
come back, giving up chunk plays, big plays. And as I counted here, they had seven plays of nineteen yards or more. And let me count them for you. Teddy Bridgewater forty four yard touchdown pass to Tim Patrick. Who, Yeah, I'll give you another. Who Tendy Bridgewater over the middle forty yards Kellen hinting, Kendall hitting, See sorry, Kendall, thank you for Javonte Williams thirty yard run. Jerry Yeah, that was where he dragged he like Jim Brown, I just
hate that thing. Okay, by talking about the peanut tilman punch or whatever. You gotta have the guy on the control before you start trying and they're grab you. Gotta get you, you take you, get him under control, I come and punch you. Gotta be coordinated. If we're doing it that way, you're never getting a bunch yet. Javonte
Williams run twenty yards, pass to Jerry Judy twenty yards. Oh, Tim Patrick pass nineteen yards, seventeen yards, seventeen yards, sixteen yards That's what I had worried about up until Minnesota because they lived in them to three plays of twenty yards or more. And in this game, it they didn't get any takeaways right, and the defense just couldn't hold up.
But if Bill has a chance, go back to the eighty one season, we were going well, so so well, you know, we lost maybe a game or so, and my season was going well, you know, interceptions and all of that. You know, he gets some, they get song. That's Tom Langie's quote. We went up there and to Campbellstick Park nineteen eighty one mid season. Who were they laid it on us so bad? That was it was this game. It was like we were I think we had They had thirty plus points, songs before we could blink.
First time we'd ever seen the West Coast offense. There was week six weeks said first time we've ever seen the West Coast offense, and that thank god for the experience we had on the team and things of that nature. But man, they ride home, that flight home, that was a tough flight home, and you could we were kind of jacking joking about it, but you could tell underneath that it was that shook us. Final score was forty five to fourteen. That shook us bad in a season
that they finished twelve and twelve and four. But we had experience, okay, we had a special team also, of course the veterans coming along with us young guys. This is this is the this is the moment where we always talked about it for this game and weeks before. How are you going to handle this type of situation? So there's always a unique hurdle to clear. This is one of those moments, and obviously the most crucial of
this season. Where do you go from here? You know, we can say all we can forget about it, and I was gonna come in joking about what game that was gonna be my joke to that, because games like that, you coaches don't even want to watch them anymore, So how are they going to handle this from from here? That's what coaching comes in on this and some leadership.
You don't have to see that. And you know what you did the next four games after that San Francisco game or what's that You're won and then you lost one and then you won four more, so you won eight of the next nine games, and of course made it to the NFC Championship. Yeah, so there you go. The more you win, you're gonna lose one at some point. Yeah, she's not gonna win them all. And how do you count for all the goofiness? Right, all the goofiness that
took place. Um, you know, we'll get to the punt. That's probably a segment on its own. Teddy Bridgewater on the quarterback sneak for the touchdown, he's not going anywhere. What happened to forward progress? Right? And then he reaches up and the ball gets knocked out and you still can't tell if he broke the main all of a sudden. They're so good at getting it right. Yeah on the gold line, how did they see even the overhead you
can't tell. But no, stop forward progress, just let him keep going nowhere and then he leaps and the ball gets knocked out. But that was typical of what was going on that day. I know we got to go to break, and I'll lead you to break by saying, even when you block a punt, it didn't turn out well. Okay, sounds like Mickey wants to talk about the block punt when we come back here on Mix Shots. Hi, I'm

He said that, um, there's a possibility that they can get Tyrn Smith ready to get back in the game this week. That's a priority. And he says, and you know if he improves upon um that early in the week, maybe he'd get in the practice. He also sounded like, uh, they can get Michael Gallop
back this week. So he said, we missed Tyring yesterday and get Michael Gallop back this week. So and they have to make the move this week because this is his third week of practicing. And then you got to make a decide who Michael gallup because he's on Indian reserve. So you said Thanksgiving, Remember I asked you about you really want Tyron Smith to play against Atlanta. Yes, we
don't need to remember back to A twenty seventeen. The guy made all the money he needed to make that because he got a big five, No, five, four or five? They had seven, I think seven or eight. I think he seemed like I thought he had sixteen. I thought he had more than I thought. It was five and and and they weren't all on Chaz Green because the backup came in and yeah, he didn't do nothing. Yeah, he went backup, back up to the back. How he did look like, hey, so here's the thing before we
move on into the punt. What the heck is going on with dad man? What the heck? Was not a good talk? To me? A conspiracy? I just just to uh on clay Adrian Clayborne. It was six sacks, it was. It was six sacks against the Cowboys. So well maybe it was six, but it wasn't. They weren't all against chen Yeah, I'm sure I think he was. He got four on Chaz Green, one and another guy and then one was just he looped into the middle and they didn't pick it up. So how many did they finish
in the game? Then it was it eight? Yep, yep, yep. I remember that magic number. No, No, Well, I'll have to look it up. It's longer. That's okay, never mind, now go ahead. I was asked about what the heck's going on with Dak and these throws. Well, I mean, I know that there was pressure a bit, but there were times when you know, you expect so much more, right, and now of course you're gonna want deal. Okay, Well do you trow with your your calf or do you
use your hips more? And well was that part of it? See he moved well enough to dispel what I was thinking early because he was high, and I'm thinking, when you throw flat footed, you're high, right because you're not pushing off your back foot. But the times he scrambled and moved around the one to ceedee lamb, I just think, let's touch down. But see, here's the deal. Some of those that other than the fourth was at the fourth
and two one he missed. He came short, and he kind of explained that he changed his arm slot because he thought he was gonna hit the other guy, so it was almost like a one hop. But some of those that you thought he'd hit, like, you don't make a living on throwing the ball on the run. And the reason he's throwing the ball on the run. Was the pocket continued to break down? Yes, yes, and and so okay, yeah, he threw the ball on the run
for the winning touchdown passing overtime against New England. But you're not going to make a living off of throwing those passes. And he was off, He was long so many times, and just watching him in the pocket, I don't think he ever got comfortable. There were very few times he stood in the pocket, look, look, and then
stepped in and through because he didn't have time for that. Now, while he didn't get all those sacks in there, he's the number one passer with pressure well, and this pressure I know, but this pressure just seemed to and they blitzed a little, but not that you know what it was. They were playing that wide nine deal, especially on passing downs where they widened out their defensive ends and then they crashed in which Number one kind of kept him in the pocket and number two gave the tackles just
an awful lot of trouble. But I just say his feet were never quiet in the pocket. They kept moving pepper like that. They go again, you get that once, They only get that once. But that's What happened, you remember, I don't remember what year it was, is a game against Philadelphia mid season. Dak had an off night. It's just his second or third year. It's either twenty seventeen, twenty eight, I can't remember. And his footwork was off, and he came back the next week and was right
on target with everything. And I think, and I know nothing about it, I say, okay, but it's just a theory that I have. When you look back at his bill is conspiracy. I wrote that right at the last three weeks. Well, what's he been doing the last three weeks after the calf injury? Okay, he got the buye week and he's rehabbing that. Okay, he's not working on his footwork that week. The next week it's kind of the same deal. He's doing a lot of stuff, but
he's not working on footwork and passing the football. So there's basically two weeks now. He's back this week. And I think with him, and with most every quarterback there is that it gets underestimated how much footwork matters in their accuracy and so forth. And I think what you're going to see is he's going to put his nose to the grindstone like he always does this week, and he is going to be right back where we have seen him the first half of this season, where his
accuracy is right on and stuff. But that playing a factor in that is the fact that he wasn't sure, you know, the pocket is collapsing on him and so and then to make matters worse. At one point in the game, I think I wrote this down. They had as many first down No, they had as many drop passes as they had first downs, five five of each. That's crazy, man, How do you, Michael? I mean the Murray Cooper right through the bread basket? Right? How does
that happen? I was waiting to hear Bills. Bill's whole thing shoals, the whole lam, The whole weekend was crazy. Bill. That's why what Bill is an expiracy theory. You got something, man? Okay, So what the heck? All weekend wells and this is in the stars, right, let me let me support you know, in this league, you know, every week, strange stuff happens. Right, So the Cowboys basically thirty to nothing right before they get two gifts touchdowns. Atlanta goes to New Orleans and
wins Jacksonville. Jacksonville beats Buffalo and holds them to six points. Josh Allen is supposed to be the player of the year. When was this play? The game? Was that Jacksonville? But what kind of home field advantage do they have? Cleveland goes to Cincinnati with all their turmoil and beats the Bengals, holds into sixteen in first place in the division. The Giants beat Las Vegas. They had won two in a row.
Rich Basach is not undefeated anymore. Baltimore has to go into overtime to beat Minnesota, the team that we stomped right with a backup quarterback, Kansas City takes out Green Bay. Now I can understand. No, you know, Rogers, that was an ugly game all the way, but they beat them thirteen looks so bad they only scored thirteen points. I agree. And then last night Tennessee goes into La and beats the Rams. That to me was just as alarming as the Cowboys and Buffalo game. Look, I mean, look at all,
how do you make sense of and the Chargers. By the way, he had to go right down to the wire to beat Philadelphia. We gotta be careful with Philly guys. Right, they're gonna give us a weird stuff happens in this league. You know when just when you think four teams were favored by seven points or more loss got beat. Just when you think you got this thing figured out, it comes back and says, not so fast. All right, I've
got a flashback for you. This reminds me of Barry Switzer at a press conference in nineteen ninety four or whatever he was. You know how Barry it his press conferences. He'd uh, he'd lose his train of thoughts, and then he'd say, I just had a flashback, he said, A Fireman's fun flashback. You remember that at all? You remember the fireman's fack? Yeah, all right, I've got for you right here it is, if you can see it here America, a Fireman's fun flash back. We take you back to
Week nine of last season. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers play the New Orleans Saints. The six win Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Saints and what was the final score, thirty eight to nothing. The Saints beat the Buccaneers. What happened to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the rest of the season. They eventually got on a roll and won the Super Bowl. Now let me take you back fifty one years ago to nineteen seventy Everson, you remember this at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas Monday Night football. It was week nine
of the season. Just like this was week nine of the season and the Cowboys were playing the Saint Louis Cardinals and the final score of that game thirty eight to nothing. The Cowboys lost. In the fourth quarter of that game, Cowboys fans of the Cotton Bowl were chanting, we want Dandy, we want Dandy. Dandy. Don Meredith was in the ABC Monday Night Football booth his first Cowboy game that he ever did as a Monday Night football announcer. What happened to the Cowboys the rest of that season?
They went on a roll and went all the way to the Super Bowl, and not four a ridiculous call by Jack Fettie in that Super Bowl against Baltimore, the Cowboys would have won their first World chap That would be the double tip that and on the goal line the day Manders recovered a fumble on the goal line Fireman's fun flashback, And do you remember when they asked Dandy Don in the booth? So they want you back, do you want to go down there? And he goes, hell,
no not. So you got your conspiracy theory. It's a week nine deal in NFL history, okay. And I was thinking of that when it was thirty to nothing. In fact, I was halfway rooting for Denver to score another touchdown to make it thirty seven to nothing and it would be really like nineteen seventy all over again. Yeah, absolutely, So, all right, there you have it. Do you like that? I like, I love It's going to be part of it to tease. So it was a good thing. It
happened yesterday. This team's gonna get on a roll. Now. I'm glad it happened before I'd say week thirteen, you know what I mean, fifteen something like. And having said all that, when I look at the standings here, so two teams seven and one in the NFC, Green Bay, Arizona and six and two Cowboys, six and two, Tampa Bay five and two New Orleans and seven and two Rams, and the AFC only one team is seven and two and that's Tennessee. Yeah, it looked pretty good last night.
Then they did, especially on the road without Derrick Henry, right, so, and then Now that's funny. How you look at our schedule now as it comes up all of a sudden. That's like in some urgency. Because we always talk to abody on this show. No one's gonna keep on losing. No one's gonna keep on winning. That's just the way it is. So now, all of a sudden, Falcons look good. Yeah, that game doesn't look so easy now, you know. Now we're looking at you know, Saints looking good. Maybe they'll
come out over confidence. Whoever quarterbacks for the Saints. We have to go there and win. So now, all of a sudden, and the weaknesses in between that chack Kansas City Thanksgiving against the Raiders come on. Yeah, Now, all of a sudden, they're looking old cowboys in trouble. Well, the first she was saying, look how easy that schedule is. All of a sudden, it's now, oh, look at these next four games. Were saying, he's a easy game. So
I love I love the EBB and flow. Don't get ahead of yourself, right, just play it all right, we're going to examine the punt in the third quarter. Didn't get when we come back here, honey, big news, Gary, are you okay? Oh, I'm not Gary anymore. I'm Jackie Flash. What see? for today? What's happening today? Mike McCarthy has a press conference at three pm three less than an hour away. The coordinators to follow usually around four four thirty something like that, and the players come in and get their run in and they have their meetings. I don't know if they're gonna watch tape or you're gonna burn it, burn it? What do you do that? Well, I'm watching it because I still don't think this team has accomplished anything to be sitting there strutting along and go, okay,
that's that's. That's that he You know, even Tom probably got along, because when this happened with us, there were times when Tom would just say forget it. But most of the time, either you're gonna they're gonna throw it away or it's gonna be the longest film day that you've had. Because offense, defense, and special teams will be in the same rule. So everybody will get the gist
of the criticism. You know, Fangio's comment about the Cowboys offense, it was pretty complimentary, like they are really good, and he goes and the other teams didn't figure out how to stop him. He didn't say we did. He goes in, how do you stop all that talent? He goes in, I guarantee you they'll continue scoring thirty five points a game, and uh, they won't have another game like that, will They will not? But he said we rose to the occasion to the point where I guess he started his
press conference off was well, how about those Broncos? He goes In't that what Jimmy Johnson used to say? See how long he stays up like that? Yeah? With his with his job, well, I think he wouldn't have any problem if he's okay being a defensive coordinate. There's been one for thirty five years in this league. Yeah, or
one stint in college at Stanford. All right, um, punt pun Before the punt, Before Stevens say anything about Zeke in his knee, he said that he didn't feel like they came out of the game with him, or maybe they didn't even ask him about Zeke with any injury concerns. So it was a bruise. Um, I think they were putting a heating pad on it or something. So I think you can deal with a bruise better to deal
with a sprain. And the way he was running towards the end, I mean, I'm sure sore today, but it didn't seem like it limited to many, although it was concerning early in the game. And by the way, Cowboys fans are hoping the Broncos keep this role going for them. They beat Washington last week, Dallas this week, and they've got Philadelphia coming up this week. So go ahead, and Bronchos and knock yourself out. Keep doing your things. Philly and the Giants are now just three games back instead
of three. Oh I can, I can. I can feel their breath on my nick all right now. The blocked punt, boy, that was gonna be a great momentum changer in this game. It was just typical of the day, right, what what could go wrong? Even when you did something right, ends up going wrong. They they're gonna they're blocked the punt, They're gonna get the ball back inside the twenty yard line. You score there. I think it was sixteen to nothing
that point. Malik Turner, the wide receivers touchdown, two touchdowns, comes right through through the middle, blocks it and doesn't get at all. But it flutters up and goes over the line of scrimmage and Nashan Wright standing there and he sees the ball coming by and he goes to grab it, grab the butterfly. And yeah, it was a weird spin on it because yeah, because of the block, right, it wouldn't like he could just catch it deflects it. It
It was. It was actually coming like almost upwards, and the deflection made it a live ballum So it was not considered a block punt. It was. It was considered a muff How about that. It's the block punt, but once it goes past the line of scrimmage, it becomes like a punt, and so that is a muffed punt. He doesn't even get first person in history to kits what two touchdowns, two touchdowns, block a punt one game
the first time? And how about this? Because of that, so the punt ends up going like technically three yards. That poor punter's punting average, there's thirty one yards a punt. He'll take it he'll take the win, I'm sure. So the weird the weird thing on that is, so you block it, you recover it, and you get a first down, like the possession changed, right, So my thought is, like, what happens if you block it? The ball goes up and it comes down on some poor s OB's head.
It's a muff muff. You can't You're not gonna call may day and all of a sudden the guys on the line of scrimmage are gonna start scrambling, right, So that that's the only thing that well about the rule. But it is what it is. No, it is, and they can't. You can't all of a sudden that's say, well, we need to change that rule. No, you don't need to change the rule. Well, somebody suggested that to McCarthy afterwards, and he goes, I ain't gonna do us any good
to day. I it's gonna happen again. I mean, you'd be lucky if it does. Well. You do have the option of stopping them after they recover. The best true you do when to do it. And then they drove for a field goal, right, made nineteen to and even at night there was the thirty yard run was right after that, right, Yeah, the two players. I'm still feeling good at nineteen nothing. Yes, I was too. I was thinking, okay, they're gonna you know, but the key thing was is
you were down sixteen to nothing. You did squat in the first half, you got them three and out, You're gonna get the ball you blocked it. Chances are you're gonna get the ball around the twenty yard line and if you score, go for two. It's sixteen eight ball game on. Right. Imagine if you had kicked the field goal early in the game and then he did just scored the touchdown and you kicked the extra point at
sixteen ten. Right, it was the Mojoe moment that didn't Joe h They got moved and that would have been that could have been a huge momentum change in the game right there. Right, they're feeling down, they got a punt block, you're feeling great. It's like a fifty four yard kickoff return. Right, this is how we're starting the second half. And it was a it was a you know, it's funny you mentioned that about Babe. I was at the game, and it wasn't odd feeling. It just really
was I just I don't know. I just did not feel comfortable. Uh. You we talked last week about fan hesitancy, right, You're like, hey, don't worry about yes why? And I talked last week about it's time for us to believe in the Cowboys, you know what I mean? So so now right back where I was, well, no, because when you when you look at it, they needed a final minute touchdown to beat Minnesota, they needed over time to beat New England, right, um, and they needed a walk
off field goal to beat San Diego. I mean San Diego, the Chargers, yes, yes, right, And so it wasn't like they were just romping over the only people they romped over or the NFC East teams, right, And I wasn't worried about them womping over anyone. I liked the We talked about the Mojo moment, right, we because we won those games in such dramatic fashions, because that is our creed right now, you know, we answer the bell, no matter what's going on before that. Now it's time to
make a play. Yesterday that just didn't exist. They couldn't get the game into the final minute. But boy, they came on March, right, down and got two consecutive touchdowns. So how many times in the game did the Cowboys defense get off the field without Denver scoring. I'm thinking first possession the Denver had put then it was here's the Denver's next possession was a touchdown. Denver's next possession was a touchdown, and then Denver's next possession was a
field goal. And then came the final possession of the half where they were just they weren't they were milking the block, and then they got to the midfield and then uh Parsons and Lewis got the sacked in the half whatever. Okay, so there were I mean scoring drives, but there were three, and so then you got there. And then the first possession of the third quarter you got you got out with the buck punt, and then
that happened. Well, then they proceed to go for a field goal on that possession, of field goal on the next possession, and then a touchdown on the next possession, and a field goal on the next possession, and there's your thirty points. So they had they had twelve possessions and they scored on one, two, three, four, five, six. One was the end of game. One was a miss field goal. So and one was the end of half the punt. Is that considered a continuous drive? I don't know.
I don't you say it an't in the field goal? I don't. Well, let me see. So is that you know? They went they went to fourth down, count the muffs a successful fourth down try. No it so technically it finished as a punt, and then the next possessions started two yards behind where they where the other drive began
and ended in a field goal. So they yeah, it's it's a it's a it's like a change of possessions, like you turned the ball over, so but technically you didn't have the ball yourself, and so that's why the question. So it was like it was like last year all over well, they had the ball for almost seven minutes and then had the ball for over forty one minutes in the game. What's the what's the record? It's gotta be record for time of possession versus points, versus points?
Is that what you mean? Or just few fewest few points, fewest time of possession, right, fewest minutes, time of possession, points, time off. It's in the media, guy or not here you keep talking, So as you look for that. What about the Josh Allen weirdness? You see that Josh Allen sacking Josh Allen, Yes, not just sack, it was interception and fund the recovery man. It's a weird day, weird day. I just knew you were gonna come in with like some type of well I did. I gave you a
fireman's fun flashback. If that's not that big a deal, Week nine happens, Week nine happens in this late nine. We tried that, tried. Think he's not gonna be I don't think they have a time of possess. We'll have that that your homework assignment for them all on your own show. That's right, okay, And so we are our pastime here nothing and again. Mike McCarthy's press conference coming your way in about forty five minutes from now at three o'clock, and we will talk at you again tomorrow
here on mix shots go, No, it ain't happening. This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
