The following. Here's a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club Cowboys. This is nick Shot screaming live on Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the official Dallas Cowboys APT now Here are Bill Jones, Everson Walls, and Nicky Spagnola m Friday. Somebody drive the top side stand. We are two days away from the state championship game. It's the Cowboys and the Houston Texans, high noon at
at and T Stadium in Arlington. And it is high noon on our fabulous Football Friday inside the SWBC podcast studio. Bill Jones, Everson Walls and Mickey Spagnola. Did any of you two gentlemen ever play in a state championship game? Heg? No. That was our first year in for a football and we were happy to have a five six I think with five five in one season. Yeah. I don't think we had playoffs when I was in high school. No, I'm serious. Okay, Now we are definitely an old crew, don't.
I don't remember, like you know, basketball, we watched it on TV, the state championship game. I don't remember anything in football. Wow. That just lets you know how old that show and he didn't grow up in Texas. Yeah, my mac Arthur Cardinals, we won district and uh and by district. Remember Mike Ford and the Mesquite Skeeters quarterback. I played at SMU and UH lost to them in by district and they went onto the state championship game. We played in state champion basketball games. Good for you
and a cute little brown ball and we won. And we won the district tennis title too. And you were on that team tennis team, not the basketball team. I bet yeah, I could remember. My my junior high basketball coach was like, why aren't you guys trying out when we graduate? You know, we went to high school. None of you guys tried out for the basketball team. Same coach. You see the guys Rogers team. There's nobody out there that five six? Okay? Um, So you did play for
a state championship in tennis? Uh, we played, we won district. Oh, but you had to quality. I mean the team you didn't win state, but one of our guys went to state. Oh okay, so close, and we happened to just get sick on Friday, so we can go down to Champagne and and watch him play. Right, come back on Monday with an excuse. Right, Oh, but he had the flu, and it's like, yo, yeah, you had the blue flu. I don't know, I'm looking this up, but I looked
up Illinois foot state football championships history. Okay, the first Illinois state championship was in nineteen seventy four. Wow, So you're right. There wasn't a state championship when we didn't. They didn't have playoffs. You just won, you won year league and that was it, as I remember, man, Yeah, that's that's just how they do it there. They don't. That's like the Premier League. Correctly, football was not that big at that time. Once again, yeah, that's just that's crazy.
All right. We do have playoffs in the National Football League, and I am here to predict that the Houston Texans will not be headed there, but the Dallas Cowboys well on their way. And that nine and three trying to get to ten and three on Sunday against this Texans team. We're talking about that over the course of the next forty five minutes. But did you watch Thursday Night Football? Oh? I don't you believe that, man, I mean, this is just crazy, you know what I was I don't understand
the NFL. I was watching that and I just had a feeling. I said, you know what, there's they were just hanging around too long. Weird, It's going to happen here. And that's why I was hanging around, just to see if something weird would happen. It was, it was. It was the interception at came of the school. Yeah it's thirteen. It was thirteen to three and then they got to sixteen to thirteen three. I think he threw the interception
in the end zone on that lollipop pass. Well, you know, I think his arm got hit as he was trying to throw. He got hit by this side. See, I thought something happened. Yeah, you're talking about Derek Carr. Yeah, as he was trying to throw. It either came from here or here, but it was so slight, you know, you think he has stronger hands. He just can't put it. See.
That's another case of you let a team hang around and hang around, and you look at the score and you're going, our, kay, if this and this happens, they win by one, right, But who thinks you're gonna throw
an interception in the end zone in schooling position? You know, who thinks you're gonna get the ball with less than two minutes to go on the two yards two yard line, with no timeouts and no timeout with a quarterback who arrived less than forty eight hours ago, he didn't even know all the players and drive ninety eight yards right. So much for practice and that system must be really easy up there in the la huh. Okay, So what does the Matthew Matthew Stafford have to say about? Okay,
the the NFL. In the NFL, the overall the record in the NFL for teams that are that have a thirteen point lead with four minutes left in the game, it's five hundred fifty one and four five hundred fifty one wins and four losses since Winever. Okay. Two of
them came in the span of four days. Monday night, Tom Brady did it but the first time in his career came back from a thirteen point deficit in the fourth quarter to win a game, and he had the two touchdown passes in the last three minutes of their win over New Orleans on Monday night, and then on Thursday night, Baker Mayfield, who was not in Los Angeles on Monday night. He didn't get there until Tuesday night. Right on Monday night. He was still he was still
a member. No, he had been placed on waivers on Monday, and the Rams picked him up on Tuesday, So he didn't have a team on Monday, Like, you know what did you listen to post game? He had. He had already scheduled a flight to la though, because he suspected that the Rams would be I was an advertiser for Southwest steroids. I just caught Southwest, That's what he said. I called Southwest and I just had a feeling and I booked a flight. That's crazy. Otherwise he wouldn't have
got on a flight. He had been Wednesday before he got there. I see, that's the kind of stuff that would happened back you know, with no playoffs in the right right, that's the kind of stuff that would happen back then. You don't have that happening. It just shows up. But it's like, hey, I'm here, oh man, that's that's
that's the TV moment. Then. This is like when he was at Oklahoma yea, he had to sit out of here for transferring from Texas Tech, and I understand he played like intermural football during that time, and so he would just show up and at the intermural field and say, hey, you want me to play for you? I think that's they had, right, why not? Don't overthink that? Yes, well he can't. The only thing, there's not much information given to him there. The only thing that would have stopped him.
It was that that crappy office offensive line the Rams. Uh did you see who's starting at left? That they got no shot? Well, even more even more impressive than what Baker Mayfield did is tie In Secki was on the street. He wouldn't with anybody a month ago. They no pa you know, you know what he didn't go to training. Who was going up against? Well, I mean the trap. Does Max Crosby go over to the right side of a Yeah, he's on the left side. And so you got Chandler Jones man. Yeah, yes, yes, yes,
that's good. Yeah, credit to thirty six, thirty seven year old tie and Secky. They and they had Crosby over there against the only veteran offensive lineman they had, and he was smoking Haver what's his name, Havenstein, Rob Havenstein out Wisconsin, and he well sort of I mean for that last drive least couldn't disgrace ninety eight yards and see, that's that's the kind of stuff that the Cowboys had
better avoid. You know. That was our Green Bay game right to where I was like, Okay, this guy, this game is boring us. It's so easy. Well what was the cowboyd the number? Losing a fourteen point lead and it was fourth quarter? Right, only one? Right, that was the first time. That was the first Yeah, that was the first time in the sixty two year history of
the team. Right, yeah, But the Raiders get this. The Raiders now have had four games in which they've had I believe it's double digit leads at halftime and lost them. It's the first time since the nineteen thirties that an NFL team has had double digit leads at halftime and four times have lost four times. When I walked in, one of the Rams had them right when won them the whole time? The right when I walked in, one of the guards said, oh, the Raiders, they got to
blow that up. I said, I thought they were already was to start over a new coach, Right, what do you think the defense they were employed on the touchdown passed to Van Jefferson. That was just press. It was it was a undrafted rookie cornerback that was playing press coverage on Van Jefferson on the on that without any safety help. What was the time twenty? It was twenty some second down to ten ten right by that time? Yeah, and there, I mean's eight seconds left when they scored
and they had to go twenty Was it twenty yards? Well, there's like twenty three yard past three yards? Right? Why why are you playing up on the line of scrimmage? And the safety he bit on the guy coming out of the slot and left that guy all by himself. You know, at that time, I can tell you for a fact, there is panic time, all right, everybody at
that time, it's just panic. No one can communicate because we're still trying to worry about what we just screwed up and much less trying to anticipate what's upcoming, you see. So your awareness is all over the place. And that's what happens when you go ninety eight yards the opposing defense. By the time you get to have midfield, we're already feeling like, okay, this is getting out of hand. Early on that drive, they get the sack, they do something
positive on defense, and then what happens. Jerry Tillery knocks the football out of Baker's hands and get called for a personal foul filty which which not only gave them the first down in fifteen yards and also stopped the clock. It was like a timeout for him. Yes, everything happened perfectly. Did the Raiders have a time out at the end. No, No, I don't know, because what he would would hey he whatever.
Sin was just saying they should have called time out and set their defense for the last plate, right once you get down to that point, yeah, because right now they had to get the ball back. And getting the ball back, yeah, yeah, spend it on defense. Wow. That was that was that? Or once you get down there now it behooves you to go ahead and and use your time out so that you get the ball. And this is funny. So I'm watching the game right and and we only have that channel on one TV because
it's it's so my video. I know, it's so difficult. You can't you can't channel sir. You got to get out and then you got to get back. I was going to check the news, right, Oh no, I can't do that right exactly, that is the biggest negative on on that anyway. She asked me, why are you Why do you think you have to watch this game? I said, well, this is what I do. And she knows question, yeah, and I said, and she goes, well, I said, I told it. I said, what if I have to talk
about it tomorrow? But then this happened. It's like, see, I told you, so that is a problem with the Amazon. Yea, you can't like it. Let's say there's a basketball game you want to watch at the same time. Whatever, you can't. It's so cumbersome getting out of it. And then you got to get back in spins and spins. And let's be clear, once you're down there before they throw the touchdown,
you can't at your wits in you know. I mean, what what defense can you play to stop it from just you know, just just just to plug up the holes. And I think that was really the only chance they had. Really you could have played it safer, but you can't play it too safe when you're close to twenty yard line. Yeah, you know, what can you do? There's still a bunch of holes in there that that you can't feel that
close to the goal line. And once again, they were already whipped here, you know, right here, they were already done. It wasn't like they called a fancy play. Got just ran straight down the sideline. Can you believe there are times when game plans don't mean a damn thing. I was gonna talk about this like this earlier this week. There were times when when we play in games to where you know what, man, Mike, you're gonna take care
of them over there. I have got to handle this guy right here by myself or desin clean scale is like, okay, this tight in his mind. You worry about somebody on the other side. There are times when you just have to go. You gotta go with your gut. You gotta play Sandler. Yeah, you gotta play Sandler. We're doing that now with Diggs. But let Diggs travel with the best guy. You know, that's not a that you can't find that in the game plan book. This is what we're doing.
We're going to make sure that Diggs takes care of the biggest threat. And you know, sometimes you have to just go off script because there's another part of this that's bigger picture, and it has to do with coaching and coaching quarterbacks that all right. You look at Baker Mayfield when he was at Carolina, the coach before the season, basically he publicly he said, I'm not sure if this guy's my quarterback or not. Okay, And I'm talking about
a coach, a head coach, believing in a quarterback. And that's one of the great positive things about Sean McVay. He has a very positive spirit about him. Baker shows up on a Tuesday, and you got the feeling that Sean McVay leaved that Baker Mayfield could do this, and he left Baker Mayfield no exactly right, exactly, and they prepared him as best they could. Got me thinking about that.
I mentioned before on this show that Sirius NFL Radio Rich Gannon has a radio show on there, and I listened to it all the time because a lot of times, you know, he played for Mike McCarthy with Kansas City. McCarthy was his quarterbacks coach, and a lot of times he'll throw in a little nuggets about McCarthy and stuff, and it's really educational. And he was talking this week
about well number one, he said, Mike McCarthy. If it wasn't for Mike McCarthy, he would not have had the career he had in terms of preparing learning how to prepare as a quarterback to play in the NFL as far as game planning. When he was in Kansas City, and by that time gannon, I haven't looked up McGannon was seven years into his career. He played eighteen years
in the NFL. But so anyway, he said that about McCarthy, Okay, that that, you know, McCarthy set him down, and he would in the beginning of the week he would have it mapped out. As far as the game plan, it was is very logical, and it took he took it. You know, it hit with him. Whatever. His point on it was like guy like Zach Wilson with the Jets, I guarantee you he has no clue how to prepare to play quarterback in the NFL because he's so young
and inexperienced whatever. All right, But his point on all this was he said there were only two head coaches in his NFL career who he felt like really believed in him that he could do the job. One was his high school coach and the other one was John Gruten. When he got to the Raiders, which was he was fifteen years in his career at that point. Whatever, yeah, right, And he got me to thinking and think about Dak Prescott here. I mean, and we saw it when when
Garrett was the coach his rookie year. I mean, just what he instilled in him from a confident standpoint, just in training camp, you know, throwing with him after practice and stuff. It's instilling an abelief that you can do this. Even that was even before he became the starting quarterback whatever. I mean, Romo was still you know, the starter than before he got hurt. And then McCarthy has done the same thing with Prescott here. But I was thinking last
night there it is with Mayfield. Mayfield when he was in college at Texas Tech, Kingsbury didn't believe in him. At Texas Tech, he had Patrick Mahomes and the edited Davis Webb. He was like third on the depth chart and he's a walk on. He didn't believe in him, to the point Thatt even offering him a scholarship after he played in games as a true freshman. And that's why he left there and went to Oklahoma and goes to Oklahoma. Lincoln Riley believes in him, and he didn't.
He won the Heisman Trophy there well leveland he probably the coaches who know you know that was such a train, right, you know. And then but at the case end point this year Carolina, the coach even said publicly, I'm not sure if this guy yeah right, I can't do that. I don't understand. Yeah, I mean, if nothing else, I'm gonna be I'm gonna be the guy in Denver. I'm gonna be hacked. I'd rather be hacked than to be
the guy in North Carolina. I'd rather be that guy that's over the top confidence about my quarterback, giving him all the resources. And even as a cornerback in the league, you probably have examples of that way. The coach believing in you gave you the confidence to be able to
do your job. And once that coach believes in you, then your team may have wanted to look at you in the more positive light and instead of them being pessimistic about whatever your player is, they can see the optim they can see where it's clicking for you and hopefully it does well. You brought up Lincoln Riley Well Mayfield, and maybe it was post game they talked to me, they were asked about him and McVeigh being together and
it's like, what did you guys talk about? And it was I guess it was after he got there and he said, we were talking about Lincoln Riley. It's like they didn't get into x's and ohs or whatever. It just it's about style. It's about the style of court. Wasn't the victory of the uncluttered mind? I did Blaine Kney Blade Knight said that about Clint Longley when Longley when this Thanksgiving that game it was a triumph of the uncluttered mind. Yeah, it's like, okay, let's not get
too confusing, you know, and believing him. So they said, well, yeah, you know, he didn't get the practice, but Hey's got a helmet on. But they're gonna start Wolford and it's like, okay, enough of that. Seem they didn't have confidence in Wolford. Didn't say it right right, he demonstrated, but he put the other guy in. He said, all right, it's like Bayfield go say, we'll think about McVeigh with Jared Goff. Okay,
golf was horrible his first year. And then McVeigh gets there and all of a sudden, I mean, he led the Rams to the Super Bowl. He did, he did, only it was only so much you could do with golf. And then look at Stafford beaten down from thirteen years however long in Detroit and then he wins the Super Bowl. Well, well you can see it last night. Mcvay's optimism. He never really like you know what I mean? The whole time he's like, okay, all right, I see something there, Yeah,
see something down. He was like, He's not like Jimbo Fisher chewing out his wh This guy was straight up. And he also gave a guy some love who messed up on the player I can't remember, but he was patting him on the head. Come on, dude, we gotta do better. Yeah. Yeah, you mentioned Garrett and Dak, and so it came up yesterday in Dak's press conference, Um that what do you think about Jason being a finalist for the Stanford job? And he goes, who do I
need to call to give a recommendation? He goes I and he just went on and on and on what Garrett did for him, right, and he said he'll be perfect college. Everyone says that I've heard that's three different I've heard from three different having said that he apparently has pulled himself out of the Last night, he tweeted that thanks for the opportunity, but I love my job with NBC. I always thought that's what he was meant for, to go coaching college. Well, I mean, you look at
that situation at Stanford. It's a little up in the air as far as you know. Conference alignment goes right now at USC and uc AL going. Who knows what's going to happen with the Pac twelve. So it's not the same job it was now. If Stanford goes into the Big ten, great, yeah, but it's right now that's not happening, so, which makes it a tough recruiting well, and that's the other thing for a for a guy
an NFL coach to go to right now stuff. Anyway, it's a totally different jobs, totally different from a recruiting stadpoint. But now the transfer portal, yeah, it'd be crazy unless you've got to drive all these college coaches to the NFL. It used to be the other way, right, It's like, nah, I ain't putting up but I think it's been proven time and again, with the exception of Jimmy Johnson. Although
there was a learning curve there. Yeah, you know, and not a lot of college coaches can make the transition to the NFL either, And there's been several cases somebody working out, somebody was I don't remember who it was. They were talking about how the percentages have to be on your roster now in college. Butt better be in the transfer portal. You better be happy to go. I think it was I think it was Nate in Frisco. Who's talking about that Frisco talking about about about the
on going. That's right, that's he was saying. Here's how he's got to put his roster together. And he's right, you better be in that transfer portal otherwise gonna lose out. Just get rid of the guys you don't want. All right, we're past time for our first break. Yeah, and there's plenty more still to come as we get you ready for these Houston Texans coming to at and T Stadium on Sunday at noon in a moment. Brendan Mure and everyone at Stanford Well. I enjoyed exploring a
great opportunity at such a special place. I'm so excited to continue my work at NBC on Football Night in America and with Notre Dame Football. Okay, so there you go. I got a question, Frank, guys, why do you think that McCarthy, Jerry, It's Friday right, continue to have to answer questions about Odell Beckham Junior, like why when? When can you sign him? Why do they not understand that
he's not ready to play football. I'm pretty sure that that was duly noted in regards to their valuation, because when they're asked about it trends on the national side, but it's now it's been locally asked and asked and asked to the point I saw somebody right that this whole thing was a sham by the Cowboys talking about he's not ready to play, so it would scarer else off and they can sign him. How about that? Well that has happened. Well, I'm sure right right, but he's
not ready to play at the bottom. He even came out yesterday. I think they interviewed him. Did they interview him Thursday night on one of their shows halftime or whatever? I don't know he was on them. You know how Lebron does that new thing on Prime kind of like the Manning cast. He was on that. Yeah, the shop, the shop, So he was on that. So they were asking him about that, and he basically said, yeah, I'll be ready for the playoffs. I'll be ready for the plays.
So he's even saying that he's out five weeks. So how how how's he gonna be Who's gonna get him ready for the playoffs? Yeah, who's he gonna be with? Yeah, he's gonna be ready for the playoffs. And so to me, it sounds like and like I said earlier, it's it's it's him getting his own name out there, right, not like not alway out there. But this saga is I think this is part of his story that he's creating.
I think you're right. And he tried to put it on other people by tweeting out the little paw pawn pawn this, you're not ready. If you're not ready, you're not ready. Well and according to Pro Football Talk, and maybe it was from this, it was night I don't, I don't. Odell said, I don't see the point in playing in regular season. Yeah. Yeah, he really acts like he has a lot of luxury on this side, doesn't it. Yeah, leverage Jerry on the fan this morning said yes, we're
still in contact. Yes, yes, yes. Is there a timeline probably the fact that time is ticking in terms of getting in here and really initiating the heavy work and rehab to get there for the playoffs if it's going to happen, that's true. So there's two factors, health and how much that's the bottom line and why right now we know that health is yeah, and how much is probably too much so or not an off whichever side you're talking about. So are you done with Odell? Yes?
I am okay. What about James Washington? Had to get that off my chest. I think he's I mean, he's good to go now. It's a matter if they want to put him on and use up the rosters. Well, they'll have two roster spots. They have one now and then when they put Anthony Brown then they'll have another one. And he's in good hands because the doctor that fixed my achilles did his too so early in the week.
Is there a reason, I mean, even if he's inactive, is there a reason why you would I mean, if you got two roster spots, is there a reason why you wouldn't just go ahead and activate him? Because they activated tack right McKinley. McKinley, last week they put him on the fifty three, didn't they before the game? I thought they did, but they still have a spot or maybe I was thinking maybe they elevate but he didn't play. Maybe they elevate him and didn't play with him. I
think last week they just elevated h All available, Yeah, Aviante. Yeah, so I think McKinley's on the fifty three. So but they have a spot yeah, um so yeah, I don't know because when is this twenty one day window up Washington. I mean he's been out there a couple of weeks, so next week would be this is two weeks. Yeah, so next week could be next week at some point. So okay, um, all right, yeah, McKinley still on the practice squad. Okay, so, but he's ready and they keep
saying he's ready, that he's practiced. You're talking Washington, Washington, let's give him more. When I talked to him, was yesterday or Wednesday? He said, yeah, everything's good. He goes as soon as they say it's time to go, time to go, and they keep talking about and McCarthy was talking about by the way, it should be people should have to listen to this about how important in this league is to have uh, twenty plus yard plays in games.
You got to have big players. And if I have one more person, ask me about you know, they just need to have Dak throw the ball shorter and this and that. Sure, well they don't. They don't want him throwing the ball downfield because then he gets intercepted, right, Okay, And it's like, did they watch Brandon Whedon? Yeah, that's good. And it's like and McCarthy talked about how many big plays you've got to have in a game to be able to win. You can't just chunk chunk chunk chunk, right,
And uh, that's what we talked about. So that's what Washington gives you. He gives you a deep threat. Now. Talked about this yesterday. Yeah, Like we said, by the time you get to the playoffs, the closer you get, the coverage gets tighter and tighter. They're gonna be sitting down on those routes. So I'm waiting for Washington to come in. I'm glad we didn't wait for him to come in before we actually tried the deep pass, which
we tried to brown, right, the other day. But we should I think we should have at least three three deep passes because Dack's on him is pretty good. Yeah, and his accuracy good. Okay, Davis Mills is starting at quarterback for the Texans in this game. He has not started the last couple of games. Kyle Allen got the start.
It's interesting when you look at Davis Mills, a third round pick last year, got thrown into the fire due to the Watson situation in Houston last year, and actually started let's see, eleven games last year, and now he has started ten games this year. So this will be his twenty second start in his NFL career in two seasons.
That is nine more starts than he had in his entire collegiate career at Stanford, he had thirteen starts because of a COVID year they only had five games twenty twenty whatever, So he's already This will be nine more starts than what he had in college at Stanford. So why did they go to Kyle Allen and struggling the offense average homy points game. Yeah, now here's what's interesting
about it. Last year they he started a number of games and then I'll get his game log here from last year and then they so he did not play for two or three games, and then he came back at the close of the season the last five. He started the last five games for Houston last year and actually won two of them and through nine touchdown passes and only two picks, which gave him hope for this year.
And he's saying that it really helped him last year as a rookie right to sit and watch kind of have a reset, and so what they're hoping that this will do the same for him this year and he'll be able to close the season stronger. So someone someone asked Lovey Smith why he made the change. Well, I didn't realize this, but the first series this past game
against Cleveland, Kyle Allen first play was intercepted. Yeah, you know what happened on that No, he was actually the pass was on target to the tight end Keegan Quatriano. He just wanted to say the name I no, no, I have no idea that's how you pronounced. But I just I just made that up. See if you if you if you pronounce a name with confidence, then it makes it sound like you knew unlike me. Yeah, that's what you know, that's right. Um so, But anyway, he
was like falling down, he was in the ball. It looked like it bounced off the turf. It actually did not hit the turf. It bounced way up in the air. And John Johnson to Cleveland safety was there and get toe tap on the sideline and that that's the first play of the game. That's how it started. Then he had then he had a fumble return for a touchdown, an interception return for a touchdown, and so they asked
they also had a punt return for a touchdown. Yeah, they asked, love you why you made the change, and he said, we don't give out lifetime jobs. Oh by, But anyway that you hope for the Texans is that Davis Mills reset will help him start jump start his season. So Cowboys hope that jump start starts next week and not this way exactly. Okay, all right, we got our picks to click when we come back here on mix shots. We paid how much for those lessons? She's doing great?

Slash United All right, Everson, take it away, all right. I don't know if you guys remember back in the Texas Stadium, every time the coaches were leaving the field, or if a player got hurt, there was
always this young man that worked with the Cowboys. Always had a nice suit and tie colors, tall, very fair skinned young man. He was. His name was Gail David Duprie. He passed last week, November November twenty eight and so they're going to have a celebration for him at the Hillcrest High School gymnasium on Saturday, and they're gonna have it, I believe around eleven o'clock. And the thing about this is Dupree was so cool with everyone. I'm gonna show
his picture right here. He was so cool with everyone. You might recognize him because he was always helping coaches get off the field, and he would always open up the gym for us. Me and Mike Downs and all the guys that played locally and then were just some of the local guys. We would always play basketball together. He would open up the gym for us because he was the support. And I think he started off as their basketball coach. So he also coached at Thomas Jefferson
and he'll Chress High School. So very well known, very popular. When I found out that he had cancer, I called him right there. I was sitting in the suite at the game. And of course, you know, being the man that he always was. Didn't want to talk about what was eventually going to happen. All he wanted to do was just talking about good time. So I did have a good last conversation with him. The family, great family, and you know, Dupre will be missed. What day did
he pass away? November twenty eight And there's an article actually in the Dallas Morning News today about him. I just looked it up and he was the chief security officer at Texas Stadium for years. Wow. No, he was a good dude. He was a good dude. He's right there with uh with Burkhard's dad. We're not gonna say, put him in a yellow jacket. Yeah, bad he was. He was legit, he was the man. He was just a professional, and on top of that, just one of
the funniest guys you ever want to meet. One of the young ladies I talked to I can't remember who it was, and she was talking about how he had to teach their class and there was a sex education class and they just embarrassed him all day. You know, you got young ladies, all young ladies in the room and they just embarrassed him all day because you know, it was sex education, and you know he was just a very humble, uh family man. So a lot of fun people are gonna miss him, and I think the
event is going to be amazing. And again it's when eleven it is. I'm sorry. All I know is he would always say hi. I don't know he was. He was the man, always the man, recognize your presence and say hi. Twelve noon, twelve noon, Hillcrest High School, Saturday. That's Saturday tomorrow, Hillcrest High School in the gym name Hillcrest High School Gymnasium. And just reading through this article, he's an iconic figure and that's what Charlotte Jones described
him as in the Cowboy Organization. It sounds like with Dallas, I s d also no doubt, okay, our you know, thanks for leting me get that in? Yeah I need that? Can you forward it? Yes? I will? Yes? Um do you need my log in information? I think so? All right if it's in the paper, I'll fight. If you can't, you don't take the oh yes, I can you do you get the hard copy? You realize how old he is. We just talking about this man. You know he's gonna
do old people stuff. When you eat to get sleepy. Okay, Now automatically he takes the naw do right you read sprint at I'm just like an old person. When it's not there on time, I get irritated. I've got their numbers, I've got their number memories. That's so good one to call to get read delivered. It's the only one in the woods. That's why it doesn't get there. Somebody just says, oh, screw that one, all right. Picks picks to click, picks to click. All right, I'm always going first, so I
will continue that trend. This is tough game, guys, to counter the pick not to score. I have the score as thirty five thirteen. I'm having confidence in this team. I'm not gonna look for them to take a step back. I'm going to MA tour as far as my relationship with them, so I'm going to believe in them. They're going to come out and play this game the way it's supposed to be played. Thirty five thirteen. My boy Wilson, besides having probably double digit tackles, I'm going for him
getting an interception. Come on, man, you know why, and you know why I was going to pick him because I thought we need to talk about him excellent because he has been playing, he's been balling out. He's tied for the team lead in tackles. Uh, and I don't know that he gets enough. I think he's under the radar and he's kind of special out there, no doubt. So now I'll try to come up with somebody else. But that's what I wanted to say, just because I
thought we needed to bring him up. Um, my score was thirty three thirteen, so we're right three thirteen, And I figured if you can score thirty three and one quarter, you ought to be able to do that in a whole game against the Texas. Uh. Pick to click? Why don't you do? Years? And I'll come up with a pick to click. Okay, the Cowboys are playing the Houston Texans, and so my pick to click is a guy who went to high school in Houston, and that would be
CD Lamb. This worked for you last was it last week? This worked for you? That's right with Millie Hooker? Yeah? Yeah, Now okay, so my secondary one's Carlos Watkins, former Houston Texas. You're getting into a bad tree into your bill. Can't you can't keep using two people? Man? Okay, like last week with excellent I'm going off Leak Hooker, excellent job.
Then you gonna throw in India, Indie native Zach Martin. No, and then you you claim that he gave up a sack or Mickey he finally got called finally got called for. That was a week before before, a week before and you know you got you know, Dak made the wrong move. Okay, that's the first time I've ever heard of blame Dak. How much you love Zach talking about blaming Zach for the sack? Sack on that? All right? So uh CD
and Carlos Watkins, okay, because of their Houston connection. And there's a It's a big day on Sunday, isn't it? Very big day? Right, very big day. It's a big day for Mickey Spagnola. It is his birthday. And so my final score, wait, you're gonna pick his age and we're gonna the Cowboys, I mean eight Cowboys win over the Texas and honor a Mickey Spagnola. Seventy to thirteen. It will be the final score. And I don't know why I picked seventy because he's seventy. It's thirteen. It's
the final score. I'm not saying why I picked seven. Then we're going lamb's a speed limit, right, you gotta hit these speed limits as you get old, you're gonna do forty to thirty. Yeah, right, that's good. You have a pick to Clinton. Yeah, I'm gonna go with one. Dakota Prescott. Nice. Okay, we never pick him, right. Well, if we're gonna get to seventies, gonna have a thirteen. So I went thirteen because they went thirteen the number right. Yeah. And my other pick to click is Rex Birkhead for
the Texans. There you go, that's three three. I didn't even put down Watkins. By the way, I'm just thinking a CD just to save your credibuilding. Okay, So if CD, and if CD has a big day, then the quarterback has a year ago, we might have an argument. I think we're all just happy that Baker Mayfield didn't sign with the Houston Texans this week. Man, that might have been kind of weird. Huh. All right, So that does
it for this edition of mix Shots. If you see Mickey at the stadium on Sunday, wish him a happy birthfead a birthday. Uh, they pull up the pants pull up the underwear h just a hug there, and there will not be candles on that birthday cake. I guess we'd have to call the fire marsh right, all right, and we'll chat at you again on Monday on Mike Shots Go Cowboys. This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
