Episode description

Join us in Episode 8, as we sit down (on location) with Dr. Nathan Creel and Kyle Gibson, AGACNP (Northeast Georgia Medical Center: Trauma and Acute Care Surgery), and discuss the importance of blood product replacement in resuscitation of traumatic patients. In this episode, we discuss how we (EMS) have been giving crystalloid fluids for treatment during hemorrhagic shock, leading to the detriment of our trauma patients. In the words of Dr. Creel - "If the patient is losing blood, the best fluid replacement is blood."

Join us as we discuss the pathophysiology of hemorrhagic shock, the history of blood infusions, and why it is imperative to move towards a paradigm shift of moving towards pre-hospital administration of blood products in the field of EMS.
