Episode description

In this episode, we open our series WTF (What the fluid), and focus on fluid administration during cardiogenic shock. Join us as we discuss the normal physiology of coronary perfusion, what actually makes up coronary perfusion pressure, and what goes wrong during cardiogenic shock. We also talk about the damaging trend of administering fluids during cardiogenic shock, and explain the more appropriate treatment (including medications and dosage) of administering vasopressors to mitigate dangerous levels of cardiogenic shock. We also discus portions of the trials SOAP 1 and SOAP 2, and the A-B-C-D-E of cardiogenic shock classification.
