Episode description

MedFlight Radio continues on the pediatric road for October as we head back to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for a pediatric congenital heart defect podcast.

We sit down with Doctor Beth Bubolz (Nationwide Children’s Hospital Cardiologist) ,  Doctor Ashley Larrimore (MedFlight Medical Director) and Jason Pierce (MedFlight Flight Nurse) to talk about this highly complex, high risk, low volume runs.

How many times in the field or with an inter-facility hospital transport have we thought of a pediatric run being a cardiac problem in nature and not a respiratory/septic shock type thing.

Come listen in as we talk about certain clues in our pediatric patients that will lead us down this path of a potential cardiac problem and talk about safe management in most of these cases.    We finish up with a case study and find out truly what is like to have a kid with congenital heart defect.   Doctor Larrimore opens up and gives us the best case study with her son Alex’s Story.
