Episode description

Study after study shows the majority of humans struggle handling money.  This isn't a surprise to any of us, as all we need to do is look around us.  In today's episode, host Travis Shelton shares a story about a recent experience teaching a group of teens.  There was a moment (or multiple moments) where something was quite visible.  A few of these teens had not yet been exposed to a lot of financial education (formally or informally), and thus were dumbfounded by "normal" practices and advice.  They fairly pointed out how absurd some of these normal decisions/behaviors were.  This moment was yet another affirmation that our bad behavior around money is learned, not inherent.  At the core, these kids understood sound principles......but have been (and will continue to be) slowly re-educated to handling money the world's way.  It's sad, but it's also a beautiful opportunity.  If money behaviors are learned, that means we all have an opportunity to learn (and teach!) a better way.
