Episode description

Due to the winter storm Texas had a few days prior we had to postpone our scheduled podcast episode to the first month in March.  But the show goes on!

Join me as I talk with Candi Harris about black students and our experiences. We talk about the number one factor that seems to hold students back from finishing college: finances. We discuss the big picture and nuance behind this road block and how it looms over black students especially.  It was a good conversation from members in the community and we hope you can align with the issues we talk about as well as the first steps to addressing the symptoms of greater systematic roadblocks the black community faces. Literature on the matter date back very far and we definitely encourage you to read more!

If you are wanting to just gain more information on how you can stay in school and identify as a black male student then I highly recommend looking into the Marshal legal program spearheaded by Candi Harris! Also don't hesitate to swing by the Student Money Management Center for any financial advice at our new location at Chestnut Hall suite 115.
Happy belated Black History Month and I hope that we can normalize celebrating black history year round!
