(upbeat music) Hello everyone, this is a special Mean Book Club promo episode. - What good, what good, what good? Did you want some Mean Book Club? - You wanted it shorter and less than our usual length of episode? This is for you. - Did you use this one? - I just want to repeat. - Are you a fan of Mean Book Club? But you're like, "I hate the episodes, I just want the advertisement." - I hear it. - Here it is. - Here's for the part where they talk over each other.
(laughing) - Do you hear say our names? But with an odd space between, here we go. Hi, I'm Sarah. - Clara. - Ja, I'm Johnna. - Sabrina, I felt like I had to make a really long space. - It was good. - I was not right. - No space at all. - There's the fuckovers. - And that's the thing, you're gonna get so many different personalities on this podcast. You're gonna get someone who likes to do a long space, someone that does a short space. You're gonna get two women that sound just like each other.
And you're gonna get us talking about New York Times best sellers that we think don't deserve to be. - Or we think maybe we'll think that, and then Sabrina will read them and she'll think, this deserved everything it had. - We can cut that out of the promo in the speaker. - Damn it. (laughing) Although that's very accurate. - Yeah, so this season again, we have a season of fan recs.
So thank you everyone for writing in, telling us what you hated, what you read for your book club, and then had to like sit, seizing in the corner while everyone else just talked about how much they fucking loved it. Now it's your time to shine, because-- - Yes, you're too shy to speak up at your own book club in a Sarah's description. - But let me tell you what, we hated it too. - Yeah, we hated it too. We're here for you.
And so our first book this season is Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. - Woo! - Episode two, The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michelle Richardson. - Then get ready for episode three, romantic comedy by Curtis St. Phil, yep, Curtis is back just like Casey. We couldn't get enough of them. - And then episode four, hell yeah, really excited about this one, Run, Rose, Run, by You Didn't Guess It, James Patterson, and Dolly Parton. - She's not just the singer, folks.
- We, the talent. - The talent is the talent. - She's a person who can hire a ghost writer. - She's got her theme park and she's got a book. - All right, everything you always wanted to know about text by David Rubin is coming in as a fifth book this season. - Ha, ha, ha, what's next? What could possibly be next? The House and the Cerulean Sea by TJ Clune.
- Skip that one, 'cause I don't know one of the words in it, but I know all the words of this next one, our seventh book is Supermarket by Logic. - And I feel as though I was trapped into this one, the title is very easy, but the Irish author's name is less easy. Our episode eight will be Brooklyn by Colm Toibin. - That's down there. - Colm? - Toibin. - Can you make Irish accents is that offensive? - I will find Irish. - We'll find out, somebody will find out. - We'll find out, and now look.
- Also what I did wasn't good accents. We know. - I know, I know. - I know, I know. - Everyone that has ears heard that. - We've also got some amazing guests this season. I feel like, you know, maybe we don't usually tell you ahead of time, but I feel like we should tease them. - What if they bail on us? That's my fear. - I wanted to hear. - But I'm afraid we don't get. - Well, let's do-- - We could tell you who's admitted to us. - Yeah, they've agreed now. We have the right to say.
- Yeah, let's do it. - I don't know, do we? - Our friend Rachel Christensen. - As promised, you come on the cast. - Our friend Joey Price has agreed. - Immediately and Joey Price. Okay, let me do that. - comedian Caroline Cotter, famous comedian Leo Allen, and actual famous podcaster Dan Savage, we fucking kid you not. - Have all agree. - Will he be all agree? - Will he be all agree? - We don't know. Have they confirmed loosely? - They have. - Yes. - Yeah, so definitely listen up.
Listen in, you know, see? - And in some episodes, no guests. And I feel pretty confident that they will not show up. (laughs) - I do agree. - Yeah, this week is a couple of months. - This week is in 16. - Yeah, 16 ladies and gentlemen. - Sweet 16. You're gonna wanna listen to this one. - Yes, no doubt. - No doubt. Again, meme book, "Claw about all the socials." You can check us out, Patreon. Please give us money. We're gonna definitely have more bonus episodes this season.
If you wanna, you know, taste of that, you're gonna wanna get something on that. - Yeah, I'm feeling bold. There might be one, but maybe there's gonna be two. We'll see. - There's at least one. We'll see. - We'll see if it might be one. There's definitely gonna be one. - I feel like a second one in my hat under my hat. - Okay, listen under my hat. - This is from the most being under my hat. - We've been, we're under a week in most of our gaps. - Okay, and now she's adding in even more episodes.
She likes you. - It could be, it could be a lost episode. - Whoa. - Oh my god, I know what you're talking about. - What? - Stop it. - There's a lost episode. - I might have found the lost episode. - There's been no. - Okay, well stay tuned. - Become a newbie on. - You'll find out more. - All on episode 16 of Mean Book Club. - Oh my god, I wanna see who that episode is so bad. - All right, you'll catch us in two weeks when we start with Red, White and Royal Blue. - See ya then. - Book, bid, bye.
- Bye. - Bye. (laughs)
