China has invested billions of dollars in building up a domestic semiconductor industry. Last year, it announced a new policy to promote the development of the sector, but to date, China has yet to create a company that can compete on a global level.
In today’s podcast, Nick Leung speaks with Bill Wiseman and Chris Thomas about whether we’ll see a Chinese chip champion emerge at some point in the future. Bill is a Senior Partner in the Taipei office and Chris is a Partner in Beijing, who leads McKinsey’s semiconductor practice in Asia. Nick is Managing Partner of McKinsey’s Greater China practice.
