On this week's episode we determine the best of the best when it comes to Wave 3 of the vintage toyline. A few of the decisions may surprise you....
This week we're comparing the similarities and the differences when it comes to the Filmation and Mini-Comic versions of "(The) Dragon's Gift" which one will prevail? Tune in to find out!
On the show this week we bring everyone up to speed with the newest dates, prices and shipping dates for the forthcoming Lords of Power Toyline from Formo Toys and then move onto a surprisingly beefy topic of where we would've taken the vintage toyline mini-comic stories had the line continued into 1988 and beyond! Pre-Order Lords of Power! https://www.formotoys.com/
Working backwards but here's the 2nd episode of ANFSD where we talk about Conan The Destroyer and Tyler's strip club experiences....*shrug*
Little out of order (I'll get the other two episodes of ANFSD uploaded soon) but since it's fresh and I've gotten request asking if this would be available in an audio format here we go. Enjoy this episode of us discussing Season 4 of Cobra Kai!
The holidays are behind us and now it's time to get serious........who are we kidding? Nathan has a bone to pick with how unappreciative Joe is and after that we give our thoughts on the must read pieces of MOTU literature. If only we could get a Dark Horse published Star Comics, UK Comics/Annuals book we'd be all set. Enjoy the show!
We've finally reached the conclusion of 2021 and what a year it was for Masters of the Universe. On this episode we tier list most of the things we witnessed this year to give them once last reflection before we head in to 2022.
All you really need to know about this one is $5 is on the line as Joe drinks alfredo sauce from the jar.
Joe is missing. While the hobo's away, the mice will play as they say. Unfortunately this was the topic he chose so it's up to the rest of the pod to give their thoughts on issues 12 and 13 of the short lived Star Marvel Comics without him. It falls off the rails pretty quickly. Sorry :)
In the 4th Kumite Character Tournament we decide who stands tall amongst those who only had one appearance in any form of MOTU/POP media. Whether it's Filmation, Mini-Comics, Golden Books or even something as odd as an Italian magazine story only 16 qualified, 1 will be crowned champion!
Most podcasts would do something grandiose for a monumental 300th episode. Not us. Joe and Tyler reflect on their beginnings with "BOzone", how Nathan came into the fold, movies Joe hasn't seen, Rebekah's thoughts from the listeners perspective and much more....and somehow not really. Enjoy the episode!
*BONUS EPISODE* You knew we were gonna talk about it, even if it's down to just Joe and Nathan. Here's the spoiler heavy review. Questioning it all and giving our honest thoughts. We say this all the time, but if you really dug part 2 of MOTU: Revelation, we're stoked for you, if you absolutely hated it, you know what? That's perfectly fine too. Enjoy the show!
Unlike the last tier list there wasn't as much disagreement until it came to one character. You all can probably figure out who. Enjoy the show!
Joe is flying solo on this episode to interview Creative Director of Formo Toys Emiliano Santalucia to talk about the upcoming and highly anticipated "Lords of Power" toyline! https://www.formotoys.com/
If you've ever wanted to listen to what it would be like to go out on a date with Joe Amato then this is the episode for you!
Apologies for some of the audio lag between us, there's just some weeks when Skype and OBS don't like each other. Does get better as the show goes on though. On Episode 296 the crew briefly discuss Ben Cooper Masters of the Universe Costumes before moving on to their own memories of Halloween's past. Joe of course went out Trick or Treating this year and just like all the years before that we've known him we relentlessly give him hell for it. We share our excitement for the upcoming Lords of Pow...
In Tyler's absence Rebekah enjoys a strong alcoholic beverage as Joe tries to lead this drunken band of misfits to a quality discussion about the underappreciated action figure line and character designs from The New Adventures of He-Man. Did our inebriated eyes deceive us or did we catch a specter during the live broadcast? Nathan plays with his newly acquired Power Sword to see if it works as advertised. I would say this is a loaded episode but it may have just been the two thirds of Fans of P...
Taking a break from the usual ranking episode, the crew (sans Rebekah) decide to try out the tier list system to decide which vintage vehicles and mounts reign supreme. Joe and Nathan have it out over the recently released Halloween Kills while Tyler gives us a list of monikers for himself to be used during the intro's going forward. Will you agree with our list or have we finally lost our minds? Enjoy the show!
James Eatock returns to show off a new storyboard scene from "The Return of Faker" involving Mer-Man and Teela, as well as unproduced content Filmation had in the works for Season 2 of He-Man and The Masters of the Universe!
This week on Fans of Power the crew toss out all of their choices in casting a She-Ra movie in 1988. Joe digs himself into a hole, Tyler's audio is wonky, Rebekah may never bake for Joe again and Nathan having survived the challenge last week declares himself the hot sauce king. We also share some devastating news that Joe may never recover from.
Which of the 15 characters released in the 1987 wave has the coolest card back? You're about to find out as we all give our rankings from worst to best. Joe loses his place but it's because he can't contain his excitement of subjecting Nathan, Newt, and her boyfriend to "The End: Flatline" later in the show. A hot sauce that is made with 4 different peppers that range from 1-2.2 million Scoville and a 7 million Scoville extract! Who will survive? and what will be left of them.....?...
In a bonus edition of the Fans of Power Podcast Joe and Nathan take one for the team and give their thoughts on the 10 episode first season of the new He-Man and The Masters of the Universe Cartoon from Netflix.
Joe shows up 40 minutes late. Was it another spider fight? This episode is off the rails but from what we've heard, you all enjoy these kinds of episodes. We hope you enjoy this crazy adventure as well!
It's Power-Con weekend so it's time to break down the sights and sounds from the show!
Joe opens the podcast with his story of the knife fight he had with a spider moments before we went live. We break down Fisto and his various appearances throughout Filmation, MYP and the mini-comics which segues us into a revisit of (Tyler's words, not mine) "The single best piece of American literature of all time." Enjoy the show!
If you're wanting all the info ahead of this years Power-Con you're in luck!
Rebekah is back this week as we try to figure out what to make of the first trailer for the 2nd MOTU show coming to Netflix September 16th. Joe also reveals his darkest childhood fear and we all each give five suggestions for actors and the characters they would play if we could fantasy cast parts of the '87 live action film.
Inspired by the movie "Bloodsport" Fans of Power is here with Kumite #3, this time featuring 16 combatants from The Evil Horde! Joe shows off his "gourmet meal", we fooled the MOTU subreddit and Joe bought a "dress shirt". Enjoy the show!
Rebekah is absent (we promise we didn't scare her off) this week as the original trio rank 17 cardbacks from wave 5 of the vintage Masters of the Universe line. Epiphanies are had, illusions are shattered and by the way, is Joe on psychedelics?
After an interesting week the previous episode Fans of Power is back to normal, well as normal as they can be and we discuss Parts 1 & 2 of Sea Hawk's adventure in "Anchors Aloft"! Was Admiral Scurvy a great one shot villain? Did Davey Jones become too annoying? Give a click to find out! In addition to this we add to the mythology of Joe, he tells more weird food stories and we all too briefly reminisce renting VHS tapes from libraries and video stores.
