you hey welcome back to the massively op podcast i'm justin with me as brie and we have an amazing show for you today that's because i've already we've already recorded it listen to it And then come back from that future to start all over again and tell you how amazing it's going to be. None of that was true. The massively OP time machine has a few bugs, but it's still pretty good. Well, it only goes one direction, see? It's not the one you want.
I don't know how you made a time machine out of a Ford Tempo, but you did it, and it's impressive. So I got a little story to tell you. I've been holding on to this. My wife comes home the other day. You know, I collect CDs. I love physical media. He has like his whole office. It's nothing but like CD shelves. It really is at this point. It's probably too.
many and everybody else like you're that you're that crazy uncle who's got the old media in his in his office i had a crazy uncle it was all eight tracks when i was a little kid come listen to my victor i'll spin it up for you and we'll listen to the old bb um anyways so she brings home eight bags of cds that she got for free from a buy nothing site which is awesome like it's like oh
crap that's cool like so my my daughter who also listens to cds she and i sat down and we dug through eight entire huge bags of cds to determine like what we were going to keep and then what I was just going to bring to the local record store and sell. And so I only ended up with like a half a bag of keepers. So don't, don't think I'm bringing, um, I do have some discernment.
But anyways, I ended up with six albums. But only for music. Only for music. So I had six albums of this guy. He looked like a new age guy. It's David Arkenstone. And I'm like, oh, he looks like, you know, like 90s. That sounds like a Lord of the Rings.
character it really truly does especially because one of his albums is like middle earth something but really yeah really um and he's done like collaborative efforts with like fantasy writers so that like one of my one of the albums is like a giant book from one of these dungeons and dragons i forget who who she was uh she's one of the famous ones though and i'm blanking but she like wrote this huge
and then he created the album to go with it anyways this is nothing i i just want let me focus let me focus so i get these six albums i'm going like why does this name sound familiar to me It really does. And so I put on one of his CDs and the first track and I'm like, oh, oh, I know why I know this guy, because his first the first track on this one album was Papillion on the Wings of the Butterfly. And it is a very.
famous track that epcot down at disney uses like this was back in the early 90s um a composer came along and was tasked with putting together like a 50 minute music loop for the main part of Epcot. And this one track was the lead off track and it became incredibly iconic for anybody going to Epcot for the last 30 years. They don't.
use it right now they stopped using that loop but for like 30 years they used it so i'm like oh that's really cool like this is that that's david arkansas okay i'm like but that still doesn't explain like i i wikipedia'd him at this point and i'm like oh that's how i also know him he's a world of warcraft composer
Is he really? He truly and truly is. He's been doing every expansion since Burning Crusade. Oh my gosh. I had no idea. Including the War Within. So, you know, Blizzard hires a bunch of people. Right. And so they might have in-house people, but they all...
also hire some outhouse outhouse uh yeah anyways so he's one of the guys he's been doing i mean everything from burning crusade to war within he's had his fingers in all these projects and i'm like oh that's really cool but here's a little stinger of it going back to the epcot thing The composer that Epcot hired to pull together this music loop and this composer who ended up pulling one of David Arkenstone's tracks for that was Russell Brower.
also world of warcraft composer i see so this is not a coincidence no so these guys have been kind of working together for a while on like various projects and it was it's i was so excited to get these albums that's really cool
All the random stuff to end up from a free site, right? Yeah, it's like six degrees of musical separation. With an MMO tie-in. With an MMO tie-in. You thought I was just going to be rambling about music. Nope, there was a point. I kind of did for a second there, but I should have known better. I told my wife and she was just like, so? I'm like, oh yeah, you don't care about any of this. I will tell Brie and she won't care as much, but she'll care a little. A little bit, yeah.
All right. Someday I'm going to come to your house, Justin, and I'm just going to pull down all the ones that I want, and I'm going to have you rip them for me. Oh, yeah, for sure. That's the best thing. High quality flack. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, let's talk about MMOs. Enough about music. Let's get into the actual gaming here and you on your bright and shiny new mic that everybody seems to like. In fact, I wanted to thank everybody who told me I sounded good because that's new.
usually it's people complaining about my mic so I have to say I appreciate that and a special shout out to Java Java who sent me a gigantic like email full of like tips and like how to like make it sound better and stuff I actually Java I actually went and bought
mic foam sleeve it's like a mic condom that's what it is so i haven't installed it yet and i haven't messed with the software but i have it now thank you so much for sending me that i will be working on that this week and trying to make it just
a little bit better than it is but I thought I thought it sounded pretty good you guys did too so but yeah okay so let's see last week was um I don't want to remember last week at like at all so can we just we just pretend it didn't happen It happened, didn't it?
yeah there were games involved there was a little bit of gaming i guess i played a little bit on the weekend i honestly didn't play that much last week i just really wasn't in the mood i know some people you know they get through hard things by playing games i get through hard things by working because i just i
games leave me too much brain space to think about things I'm worrying about. Whereas most of the time when I'm working, I can really focus and like shut everything else out. So I did that. All of us bothersome employees. And she was like, ah.
No, you guys are the best. We have good readers. We have, we have a good community here. That's not the problem. But yeah, on the weekend I did play a little, um, I did some Gilbert's too, like dailies and weeklies. I didn't even finish my, that's the first time since Jan Thierwald.
that I haven't finished my weeklies. But it's not really Guild Wars. It's not like it's Guild Wars fault. I'm still playing. Oh, and I bought my husband the new mount. Did you see that new mount? Which mount? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. The clockwork dragon thing. The clockwork dragon thing. It's beautiful. I was like, that's so cool. And I had just written, I had written like half of a daily grind on it where like I was kind of picking fun at him because he doesn't.
get into the cosmetics very much he'll he'll do it in like smite and overwatch 2 where he'll like you know you unlock them as you play and then he kind of you know wears the best ones but in like stuff like guild wars 2 he just does not buy anything and i can't ever get him to buy things
and sometimes i'll sneak onto his account and like decorate his dress up his characters for him because it just it depresses me he's like you know the classic murder hobo and he doesn't care it's like whatever i'm here to play i'm not here to look pretty and i'm like no we're here to do both sweetie play and look pretty so i did when when guilders 2 came out with that
It's like, it looks like a clockwork dragon. It's so cool. I was like, I cannot justify this for myself. I have bought way too much stuff on my account in the last couple months. I'm buying it for him. And so he can stop being a hobo. So he looks awesome now. He really likes.
it i was actually a little worried because sometimes he gets mad when i spend things on fripperies but he needed some fripperies okay so i did that um so so do you ever yes ever wish that you could take a really beloved mount from one mmo to another well like you know i have some really cool mounts in some games i'm like oh man i wish i had this in every game i play i have a lot of good horses in low trail like i really love the way horses operate in that game it's one of the things that
really makes lotro like stand out to me compared to something like everquest 2. i think the mounts are really good they flow really well they the characters move on them really well but they're so detailed like they don't look like you know cheese ball fantasy mounts they're just so i don't know i really like those i would move those to any game
I'm sure you have one in mind or you wouldn't have said this. No, no, no. I just, in general, like it feels like if you spend money on a mount and you're like, oh man, I wish I, it was like a universal game mount that I could just take with me. it's funny actually because amount was actually the next thing i was going to talk about in lotro because i deleted a character with the mount i really liked on purpose um yeah i i had been kind of thinking about taking my um
I was going to say swashbuckers. Mariner. Mariner is what they're called. That sounds like salad dressing. I don't know what my problem is today. Anyway, she had a really cool name and I was really thinking about like stealing it and moving it to my main character because my main character's name was very.
dumb i named her a million years ago and she was always a joke character and now she's my main character on accident so i was like maybe i should just delete the mariner even though she has that really good spring elk you know the elk oh my god it's so pretty but yeah i did it and while lotro had that thing where you could get like any one thing for 30 off i just got the name rename use the
tokens i already had what do you call them um low draw points i i used what i already had from subbing and change your name but now i'm short one mariner and i need to reroll a mariner but oh i'm that was the only thing that was really stopping me you know 25 levels or whatever it was easy enough to get back right but that mount you can't get until spring but anyway i did i played a little outro i wasn't planning on it but like
Everybody's so hyped about Lotra right now. Everybody's talking about it, or at least in my feeds. You can talk about it, I'm sure, later because I haven't actually played the new content. Did something happen with Lotra this week? There might have been a little expansion or something. I don't know.
but like yeah i have it but i haven't played it my character isn't that high my character is like 130 something so my main character anyway i i need to i need to stop screwing around in guild wars 2 and play this at some point and get caught up but i have not done so um
I did, however, log into my lore master to see what the devastation was because everybody keeps talking. She's an elf. I should point this out. This is how this is relevant. She's an elf lore master. Obviously, my lore master's skills have been like wiped out. Everything I don't recognize. it anymore i need to come up with a new spec i don't even know what i'm doing anymore i hate that stop doing that to me lotro just when i finally understood they've changed it again but yeah i took my elf to
Actually, I took her to the Shire, the barber in the Shire, and played around it. I don't think it's that bad, Justin. No, you can actually do pretty well for yourself. I've seen some good ones, but some people just... don't like change and when you force a change any change upon somebody and it's her character and there's a good chance that's going to go south no matter how good you're
yeah yeah well I didn't like the human ones like I still have not been able to make humans that look like my old humans or humans that I even particularly like and I was really worried that that would happen to the elves and I think the elves I mean my character honestly i think she looks better than they used to i honestly think that she does now i think i was able to add like more stuff to her face more definition she does kind of have like wide jaw i'm not sure
Somebody referred to it as like Habsburg face or Habsburg chin. I think it was it was Storm Waltz who said that on Mastodon. And I was like, oh, is that what that is? She looks a little strange, but like, you know, at a, you know, 75 degree.
75 degree three quarters angle from the top it looks kind of normal i don't know i just didn't think it was that bad i was really expecting it to be horrible and honestly i'm just more annoyed at having to relearn a lore master and i probably just won't i'll probably just play my hunter
Please don't tell me they changed my hunter too. Do they change hunters too? Do I have to respect that one also? Please stop. Not yet. Why did they do this? Although I've heard that the new, the revamp coming next year, you're just going to throw pine cones at people. I mean.
Wait, that actually sounds fun. Doink, doink. Yeah, well, the hobbits do have like a hobbit skill where you can throw a stone. Stone, yeah. Nobody ever takes that. Yeah, nobody ever does because it's like it's at best a pull for, you know. classes that need to pull but you know i always thought how cool would it be if that's all your character is just like a slingshot or just a whipping stones at people and yeah i i would totally play that i would legitimately 100
Oh, my gosh. And I think the only other thing I played was I played a little farm together just because they've been I wrote a piece on this a couple weeks ago about how they've been putting out. It's over 50 updates since May. really honestly earning their keep over there in early access land this does not happen very often but most recently they added something that's like it allows you to add more land to your existing land
I think it's like a separate parcel, like not on the same map, because there's no way they were going to get more onto that map. So that is actually on my list to look at this week, because now it's moved from the beta branch to the early access branch. And now I can actually see it without wrecking my game. And one more thing.
we actually did something gaming related but not an mmo we finished a project in our house related to games so we had like a couple years ago we we built this like sliding coffee table that rolls around and it's got like a really cool like a crate underneath it that slides
out and we've got all of our little board games in there like our favorite stuff that we actually play but the table was kind of small so we came up with a plan to add a second thing to the table so that it's like a drop leaf so like that's not the right word it's like a fold-out table like a secretary table but there's like two of them right so there's like the regular table and then on top there's like two folding parts of the table exactly the same size together right and now
They fold out and the table is twice as big. And so now we have a really cool place to play board games in our living room. And that is the project we've been working on for the last couple of weeks. And it looks so good. I'll post a picture. And what are you playing or something this week?
just because i think it's really cool it's totally custom you know the whole thing built um my husband did a really good job with the cutting i don't come over and do one for us because we we struggle with that our our kitchen table is great but it's not good for gaming because it separates people too much and it's a little too high to be very
comfortable with it for a long period of time yeah only half of our table has like leg room so the other people kind of it's really a counter like one of those big bar counter things and it's huge but it doesn't work for game this is what will be game we want to like lounge i want to like kick back on like comfy sofas type stuff and
Anyway, we needed that because I wanted to get my kids back more into board gaming and stuff like over the winter. So this was like our fall project. So we're all set. Game on, right? You could at least, over the entire course of winter, at least play one and a half games of Monopoly.
I would rather die. Or Risk. Oh my gosh. I knew somebody did like Risk. No, it was Axis and Allies, which is like Advanced Risk. And they did like one game of that and it lasted three months. And they kept coming back to Dead Sky.
house every week to do it that's terrible no no no monopoly is my son's favorite game it is like he'll literally bring it down and we'll say no put it back we're not playing that it's i hate it so much we want to remain a family yes it's just awful and then we actually do have lord of the rings risk
or not and like last year when we got it we like cracked it open right got all the pieces out started organizing it started reading through like a half an hour in everybody was bored we weren't even we hadn't even really started playing we had pretty much just set the damn thing up and then everybody was like you know
no, this isn't, this is not the vibe. Nobody has the attention span in this house for this game, which is a bummer because I was a pretty good Risk player back in the day and I really wanted to see how it would work on like the Middle Earth map, but... i don't think that's gonna work with this family that's all right that's all right there's other games
All right, Justin, tell me your other games. What did you play this week? Well, we got some news stories that kind of go into some games that I want to talk about. But the one I am going to mention, it just kind of came out of the blue.
this past week was incredibly busy for my schedule and i was just trying to squeeze stuff in wherever i could possibly do that and at one point i just like i just need something so not complicated just very shut off your brain enjoy it slow down you know like that email we talked about the other day or somebody's just looking for uh you know just kind of really laid back experience and nothing to to
hyper super fast and the answer i mean immediately popped to mind which is like dude go play like wow classic like real classic you already own this game yeah yeah not not Like the classic that's in Cataclysm. Like the classic era, only vanilla, no expansions. Go play that. Can you still do that? What kind of server is that called now? It's called Classic Era.
Classic era? Okay. Yeah. Unfortunately, they don't have Burning Crusade era. They don't have Wrath era. But you can either do the progression servers or you can do these classic era, which also is where like... Under that umbrella is Season of Discovery and the hardcore servers. Oh, okay. I didn't realize that stuff was all locked to vanilla. Yeah, so all of that's under the same rules because there's no expansions under any of that. So yeah, just a couple days ago, I...
rolled up a little you know in honor of wow's 20th anniversary which is this month yeah i rolled up a character which was my very first wow character which is a dwarf hunter and uh unfortunately that first dwarf hunter didn't last very long but see how this one goes and i thought you know you know why not and i stumbled in with a really good guild and i just
had made so slow progress and i'm loving every moment of it it just there's something about that that vibe of of classic era which just hits so good and even though you know like there's I know we talk about this a lot and that the common axiom is that now you can never go back. You can never fully recreate and recapture how things were. And that's true.
to a full extent but there are elements of of these legacy servers and legacy mmos that yeah you can recapture part of that feeling and enjoy the game as it used to be designed and i there's something about classic that's still incredibly satisfying even to this day and i'm sure like 40 of it's complete nostalgia and that that that has a short shelf life in your head when you go back to a game but the other 60 is just like you know it's slow measured combat slow
but meaningful progression. Every little thing I get, you know, helps my character. I took leather working, which I'm not a crafter, but I took it because I...
You don't get gear drops. You almost never see a gear drop in Classic. So I want to make my gear. I don't want to have a... threadbare hunter i don't know i'm gonna be swaggering about giant robes of rich luxurious comfort so yeah it's no no great stories that's crazy though justin like i have i have good feelings about the like early vanilla progression that felt good i you're not wrong it wasn't it wasn't until endgame that wow really starts to break down along the way it's great
Yeah, and people are kind of making their own fun too, right? Some people on those servers are super hardcore and raiding and all that. But other people go like, been there done that we're gonna kind of figure out our own fun now and so they come up with alternate things to do and knowing that these servers
will never progress like we'll never have an expansion kind of really changes your mindset of approaching them like you're not trying to speed through and you're not trying to prepare for the expansion This is the totality of the game. So what do you do with it? How do you make this into your toy box and have fun with it? I'm really, really excited to hear what Blizzard's going to say this week in their Warcraft Direct. Is that Wednesday? Thursday? Yeah, I think it's Wednesday.
Coming up, wow. On the 13th. Okay. So, yeah, a lot of people in the Classic community are wondering, are they going to throw us any bonus? Classic Plus, is that a thing? Fresh Start servers, that's another thing. Or maybe Burning Crusade or Wrath.
era servers given back to the community because you know as predicted not a lot of people are super happy that you know cataclysms there and you know like that's got its own community but a lot of people just went like no we just we didn't really want to go to that so you either go all the way back now or you go all the way forward but you can't stay in the middle with burning crusade and wrath if that's what you wanted to do so we'll see we'll see
all right well let's move on to the news as we said we've got a lot to talk about today and because brie wanted to spend 17 minutes talking about her custom built table no not even that much Oh, let's talk about Lord of the Rings online. Yeah, let's do that because we haven't talked about that. all uh this year hey new expansion legacy of morgoth has released this past week i was so excited came out on wednesday and i had no time to game on wednesday i had no time to game on thursday i was like
I am the worst lotro columnist ever. I didn't, you know, I was had hopes to do a column on it last week and.
I'm still struggling to get it done for this week, so we'll see. But I'm really excited because this brings us into a brand new area of the world. Desert... region so if that's kind of your thing it's gonna be really up your alley um so far i'm in the first time to me he's telling me to hurry up that's what all that was you're gonna love it it's a and it's it's it's so hard to like put your
finger on it like in terms of the direct inspiration because i think it's a hodgepodge it's a little bit of egypt it's a little bit of polynesia and it's it's a lot of middle east and so different parts of it are like yeah okay like that's this is a very hawaiian vibe like i'm getting from some of these huts and you know the gorgeous pastel hues in the in the sky over the
the the water and stuff it's like oh i like this vibe you know that the palm trees and stuff and you've got a lot of alligators so now i'm starting to think oh yeah this is a bit of egypt you know you got mangroves and But soon enough, I will be going into the pure desert zones. So the first zone isn't quite as full-fledged desert. So yeah, four new zones, 350 quests, also new bauble system, which is not very fleshed out at this point.
okay they're toys there are any items that you yeah there are any items you have that Like, you know that one smoking pipe that you can get? Yes. No, I was just messing with that yesterday. Yeah. It's a shisha. Yeah. That's going to be categorized eventually under baubles, and it will take that item out of your inventory and put it onto the collection screen so that you can use it as a skill, and it will free up an inventory slot. That's kind of cool. Yeah, it is.
It's very limited at this point. There's only like 20 items, and I think they're all from this expansion, which are currently baubles, but you can see they've laid the framework for moving forward with us. Oh, come on, though. We have so much random crap in the game that needs to go in there. It really does.
us oh my god inventory is always like 90 random crap that's that's it's charm like that's the best part but the organization is lacking yeah i need to have my my hobbit the pie you get back in For the reputation back in the Shire. The pie and the mailbag and stuff like that. Or my favorite. What else do I have? The Firefly Jars. Yes, I have those. Those are really cool. So those will all be bobbles. Yeah, that's exactly the stuff.
that should be. Bubble it up. Come on, SSG. So yeah, new expansion. It seems like it's gone. fine so far uh there's a lot there i think the only controversy i've really seen is over the elf avatars uh the rework that they've done for just standard elves they haven't brought this over to high elves yeah High elves are kind of newer anyway, so they had some newer options. I hope they leave them alone. My high elf is really pretty. Don't touch it. Don't touch it.
Some people like it. Some people don't. You might want to go check in the game if you have an elf and see how you look. And if you don't like it, then go back to the barber like Bree did and kind of work up something. And cry. And cry or cry.
Come with me to the barber and we'll just weep a bit. Okay, so this one doesn't have a level boost, right? No. Level cap is the same. Does that mean there's no... gear tier upgrade or no i don't know about the gear i think that they've they're increasing the virtues and the legendary item level cap
okay i think just off the top of my head in terms of gear i'm sure there's some gear improvements so far going through like all the the quests and really i'm just like a few hours into it at this point i haven't seen any gear from i've seen i've actually i got some housing items which were really cool this one um it's a giant table with six chairs and it's got books strewn all over it and it's gorgeous and it went right in my house that was just like a normal quest reward
And I'm like, oh, dude, housing items. Yes, please. Yeah, they don't do that that often. Some cosmetics. But I haven't seen any, like, upgrades to gear like the main storyline typically does yet. That's a good idea. I hope they do that. like i hope that's like a thing now that they do instead of constantly giving out gear upgrades instead like if there's no gear upgrades to be had then this is a great idea
Dyes would be welcome, too. Any cosmetics? I'll take it. Whatever you're putting down, SSG. Parts of horses and then you assemble them all together? No. Wait. The other thing I am seeing, and this is kind of continuing from the last expansion, a lot of these quests are rewarding Virtue XP. Oh, good. Just for doing the quests. Do you think I've been in the black of that for a while?
I don't know, but I do know that I started looking at some of the deeds, and the deeds actually don't reward as much Virtue XP, so it might just be you're going to get a bulk of your Virtue XP from just doing normal quests.
which is kind of a great idea for an expansion where there's no level cap. So you can still improve your character through virtues. You just... yeah it's kind of around that's a nice catch up i was already thinking about getting to 140 or getting to 150 or whatever and using the character upgrade just to catch up my virtues you know what i mean using this
so that i'm not like actually i'd still be getting the levels i wouldn't need the levels but that virtue experience is just like crazy i don't i don't want to pay for it and i definitely don't want to grind it i don't know how you do it justin you're singular what can i say
One bite at a time, you can eat an entire elephant, right? I guess so. But Lord of the Rings Online was not the only release this past week. In fact, we had a full-fledged MMO launch. Let's not let this go by. We actually covered it a lot on the site, Brighter Shores.
came out this is a title we've been talking about uh the announcer earlier this year this is andrew gower's follow-up to runescape that he's kind of making runescape version two his own little version of it and definitely feels like runescape like if you're a runescape player prettier so much prettier yeah you're gonna want to play it's it's
right down that alley it's very very pretty like i love the little details like it's not a giant expansive world because you're going from all these little and i'm using the word lightly but room to room to room like even outside it's like these little tile set areas but they're very detailed and you you kind of get the feel of it after a while in fact the first giant area you're in is all a city then that at first i kind of sighed but it
you know it's not that hard to get around and the map's really cool in fact they just patched in a way that you could just click on the mini map and your character will walk to wherever that is which i was like dude i wish every mmo had that for real i could just click
and just let my guy go. So yeah, Brighter Shores, but it is definitely not your typical MMO. And I think that's something, if you read my impressions and Chris's impressions or watched the streams that we've been putting out about this game, it's...
Very runescape-y, not very typical MMO. You're not going to be like, hey, I'm going to pick up five quests and go and grind on some mobs and level up. You have skills. You have all these different skills in certain areas. So like one of the skills... the first area is your guard skill because you become a guard of that town which i assume doesn't
Like it's a combat skill, but it won't really relate when you're a guard outside the town. There's a different skill, combat skill. So you're going to be picking up skills that relate to a certain area and leveling those up and then using your levels to... Advance.
quests so that's that's the one thing that i think chris and i both kind of hit a wall and i think a lot of people are going to hit a wall about this if your skills aren't high enough to advance the quest you've got no option you have to go grind or just do other things for a while until maybe that level gets increased.
Fortunately, you can run a lot of quests in parallel and there's at least I have like five main quests right now and you can do them in any order and whatever you want to do and kind of pursue as long as you're generally improving your character over time. but you you don't it doesn't feel like you have a lot of choice in this like i i have to become a crafter right i have to become a forger i have to fish because some of these quests just will not complete until i do these things so
You've got to be okay with kind of meeting the game at its terms here. And for some people, that's going to be a deal breaker. And some people are just going to like the vibe of this and go with it. I find it very, very laid back.
and you know it's it it's still on my desktop so it's definitely not a i tried it and now i'm deleting it kind of thing i do want to play more uh but it also like suddenly i'm seeing like how much time is going to be involved in this and going yeah i guess i could play a little bit here or there but i'm not going to be racing through this game so Yeah, I think maybe part of the problem is people had just the wrong expectation because sandbox really isn't a very...
specific word we use it for so many things and studios use it for so many things but if you're thinking of mmorpg sandbox you might be thinking well it has 100 skills but i only really need to do five of them i pick my five favorites and then go you know or whatever And that does not seem to be the way this one works. I would not call this a sandbox. Interesting, because they do.
that oh good for them but it's no no i just no i just think that's what i mean it means a lot of different things right it can be sandboxy but not necessarily have sandbox character development it actually reminds me more of of project oregon gonna toot the project gorgon horn here but it's the same kind of thing where you could level like everything you really really
if you really wanted to i mean i don't know why you would do this when you can have other characters but there's a lot of quests that are locked to certain skill levels and if you're not there you're just not getting you almost have to like kind of
level them in batches so that you don't accidentally get yourself you know gated but this is like it's everything it's not just like a group of skills to level it's like you have to have everything and that's really what caught chris up i think um based on his article
like you were saying he was like i was just playing combat and suddenly i was like i have to become a chef well i don't mind being a chef but that's not what i was doing and now i have to do chef a lot he did not really enjoy i think being directed that way because
it just doesn't come off like the kind of game where that's going to be the thing yeah it's it's they're very different activities right and if you're in the mood for activity a but the game tells you no we really need to do b right and it's yeah that's It doesn't give you as much agency and choice. So, yeah. For some people, it's going to hit the spot and some people it's not. I think it's a very uniquely designed and looking MMO. It's very different than a lot of the stuff that's out there.
runescape aside and so if you're just feeling like you've been there done that you've seen a lot of games and you want to try out a title that's just kind of its own thing you might want to Check this out. I found it very easy to get into. Another really nice thing about it is 100% of the game you could play sitting way back in your chair only using a mouse. There are keyboard shortcuts and, of course, when you type and talk to people. But other than that, like...
You know, combat's not even... At most, you have a few different weapons you could swap between strategically. You might have a few different skills. You have a couple potions. But all of that you can just click on because the combat is so turn-based. It's auto-turn-based.
and it's so slow and you're just like yeah i don't i don't really have to be leaning hunched forward and there's there's like that i don't i don't know how to describe that maybe that makes me sound lazy like sometimes at the end of the day like i don't want to be hunched forward i do want to kind of like sit back you know and kind of enjoy a little bit of the same
posturing that my console brethren get on, you know, couches, right? That's it. I'm bringing in the fun police. You're not allowed to have fun. You're not allowed to have fun here. This is a serious business only endeavor.
So I don't really have much else to say about it other than it came out. They were already starting to patch it. I know, yeah. This is... i think we need to do need to say this is still early access this is an early access launch right i should have set that up but it's also free like you could you could try it out for free the i know it's got like that mini sub it's really it's like a half 650 yeah it's cheap
and that they're not calling it a sub they're calling it like a battle pass or something or a season pass but it's a sub don't get yourself it's just a sub but that's fine that's honestly cheaper than runescape is right now so you know if you really runescape keeps raising its prices too this is a really good time to come out
yeah it is all right you've convinced me i i wanted to play it before and then you guys reviews your reviews were like oh i don't know and last week is a mess i'm gonna install it this week and give it a try yeah i mean Because I don't mind the idea of crafting and combat. I like that. I want to feel how the grind feels personally, I guess. How it feels to me. And as you said, it's a really cute world. And you do kind of want to go around and just poke into stuff and check stuff out.
All right. Well, let's move on. Let's see. What else do we got in the news this week? Let's talk about some delays. Maybe you could cover this because you did this whole cacao call here. covered a couple delays for Chrono Odyssey and ArcheAge Chronicles. Yeah, so Chrono Odyssey...
I don't know if that's exactly a delay. It's more like they're picking the very last possible minute of their original window. It was originally like as of last quarter, it was going to come out in 2025. And they were like, not even on like the.
twitter account and whatnot cacao was not giving details they were like oh we'll tell you when it's coming when it's coming and now it's firmed up supposedly to fourth quarter 2025 i will bet you a million dollars it will not make that but that's what they've got on there like investors cheat now the definite delay is for ArcheAge Chronicles that one is a hundred percent
that was originally delayed into 2025 in fact it's been delayed a bunch of times long before they they renamed it this is archaea2 which is now archaea chronicles right and yeah now that is definitely coming out at some point in 2026 oh here i even wrote it down i it was five i've counted five delays and it's probably more than that those are just the ones i've been able to catalog which is nuts but
yeah here we are clearly we know some of those those delays are because cacao has decided to or xl games rather um has decided to cacao is publishing it xl games is developing it whatever um but i think kakawa has like a major stake in xl games so maybe we should be referring them as like one big happy family but yes archage chronicles has like completely undergone like a massive shift in like what it's doing it's not really a classic tradition
MMORPG anymore. It's not even really like an ArcheAge clone. People really just wanted ArcheAge but better. It's much more of an RPG that happens to have multiplayer. Not in the New World way where it's an MMO. but they just say it's it's not an mmo it this is actually they've taken out some of the major multiplayer content like mass pvp battles and people are like dude
That's why we were playing ArcheAge. That's like what we wanted. And now you're taking it out. So depending on what you were looking for out of ArcheAge Chronicles, you might be happy because if you just wanted like the house and the combat and the questing and stuff, that's all still. there if you absolutely wanted you know major pvp rvr forget it it's not happening so
Part of I think these delays are because they clearly went back to the drawing board to not just retool this mechanically, but to retool all of the marketing around it too, so that they can try to get a different audience. They're trying to get console too, very clearly. Yeah, and it feels like they're not... quite 100% sure what they want this game to be I think you're right I think they're still kind of testing it out everything is a trial balloon right now
All right. Well, at least you know where you stand if those are a couple of games you're looking forward to. But I know there is a small but sizable little population looking forward to Chrono Odyssey. Oh, yeah. No, it looks really cool. It does look cool. So to get it next year... Maybe this time next year, we'll be talking about the launch of Chrono Odyssey, and I'll be trying to convince Brita.
maybe we might be and yeah cacao is doing really well like it's not like a crap company it's not like losing gobs of money they're publishing path of exile 2 in korea next month when it when it hits early access they're sitting at early access here for us too obviously but they're publishing it in korea and they're gonna make tons of money off of that too it's really weird to me to see cacao and excel games doing okay
When so many other companies are crashing and burning. So we'll see if they can keep that up. But all these delays are nuts. I think I know what I'm going to write about for next week's hype train because I think I need to talk about Star's Reach. Oh. Because, you know, it keeps... popping up in front of us i'm like wow for you know some sometimes mmos in these projects like they go months between hearing anything about them and for whatever reason raf goster and his team are really the reason
okay they're they're pumping out the marketing for this game and i know i know we talked about this at least privately i don't know if you can publicly say this but um oh gosh hold on i don't want to get you in trouble But if nothing else, I can say they're definitely doing a lot of promotion of this game, including a new trailer this past week.
i i don't think i don't think anything i would say is anything he hasn't said publicly i mean he's made it very clear that you know this this game has a while to go until launch and that It doesn't matter how big your name is, how many games you've pumped out in the past. Investors are looking for guaranteed wins. They're not willing to risk anything right now. And to prove that you're going to be a guaranteed win, you really need to bring something special.
that means bring a population bring an audience bring a ton of people who are like really engaged there's a reason they you know all kinds of companies will brag about how many people they have in discord or how many people they have following them on social media how many people they have signing
up for their tests we roll our eyes at these things i know you guys roll your eyes at these things but like they're not really for us they're for the people who are going to be tempted to give them money to actually continue developing the game i that's all there is to it Marketing is...
It's such a big deal. And Custer has said repeatedly that marketing spend is a huge, huge factor when it comes to the overall expense of games. That's not even really about his game. That's just something he said repeatedly in the past. And the games that don't... have it, just...
generally don't blow up unless they're very lucky like for every stardew or every minecraft you get you know a million of these games you've never heard of that never went anywhere because the solo indie dev could not actually market it on nothing so yeah Like, especially for an indie, it's kind of awesome to see this. It kind of is. Yeah. I mean, we're getting, like, we're getting classic style dev blogs every single week.
where they're like explaining how the game works explaining ideas talking about their tests really bringing it public but not necessarily completely open It's pretty interesting, honestly, because so many of these smaller projects from classic MMORPG devs, they tend to be...
crowdfunded so there's actually actually like an obligation like they have to put out what they're doing they have to let people in and this is they don't have to because they're not actually being funded that way they're investor funded nobody we haven't been asked to put in a dime
so that it changes the equation a little bit and i'm kind of excited i'm it reminds me more of the way mmos used to be developed in a weird way um although definitely we're getting more anyway do you want to talk about the trailer itself i
well yeah actually we can do that because they they've dropped he put out a trailer last week right and then he also dropped the part of the nda there is still an nda and i should say up front i actually they they let me into the beta like late on friday they were like hey oh yeah it's alpha it's pre-alpha what is it it's pre-alpha let me clarify that and they were like you want it in i was like are you sure because i'll probably talk about it
do you really want me to talk about it because it might not all be good they were like sure but it was too late on friday for me to actually play so maybe i'll actually get to try it if they do another one next weekend they've been doing these regular play tests like every freaking weekend so i'm excited to get in there no in a way i'm kind of not excited to get in there testing is so like not fun um
Sorry, I'm tangenting here, but I really like to like break things and take things apart. But I don't like to do it when somebody is looking over my shoulder. And a lot of the tests right now feel that way. It feels like, oh, you're in there with the devs and you have to be in the discord and you have to communicate and you have to.
with the thing no i want to just break it and see what happens i want to play with the sandbox i want to play with the toy but it's not finished and that's another draw for me is that i want it to be more done than it is i'm not as interested in you know playing with the physics
in the you know the ai of the game as i am playing with the skill mechanics and the economy mechanics but whatever i still want to try it out but yes they did put out a trailer getting back to the actual questions justin asked they put out a trailer kind of showing off their newer graphics and some of their newer particle effects and physics all of it it's all kind of a combination it's clips from some of their tests as well as just some really pretty stuff and in the middle
of it all by the way I should say I think it looks a lot better than it did when they announced this I like the look of it yeah it's June I think it was June um it's come a long way I think I even put that in the title did I Yeah, maybe it put it somewhere in the article that just to my eye, the terrain looks better. The characters look better, although I don't think they've actually done much. The lighting looks spectacular now. I even clipped a ton of pictures out of the trailer because I.
I just didn't really think people were going to click on it otherwise. You know, people, they're like, oh, I'm not clicking on a video. So I clipped out some of the pretty pictures and it looks, it's starting to look... i don't know like some weird cross between like astroneer and landmark and no man's sky to me it's got like a really bright cartoony look and yet a little more realism than it really does look like landmark but like propelled 10 years into the future so
I'm really happy with the way it's developing. I know there are some people who are still grumpy about the graphics, but if you're not happy with these, you are never going to be happy with anything they did. You clearly want something super hyper-realistic, and they're not doing that. I don't know what to tell you. But to me, the most interesting thing in here was the clip out we did.
of all of the professions not all some of the professions they're bragging about right now we haven't gotten to my knowledge anyway we have gotten a list of all of these professions he's mentioned a couple he's talking i think they were testing ranger the ranger stuff like a couple of weeks ago
you know in in our original article way back in june he teased the idea that we have a lot of things inspired by star wars galaxies and i was like entertainers and he's kind of like wink wink so there are some things we kind of assumed we were getting there's no way
can have a sandbox run with player cities without some sort of politician class right you can kind of just assume that these are happening but this is the first time i've seen it laid out and i gotta be honest it makes me really excited did you look at the list No. Chef, architect, geneticist, skirmisher, farmer, botanist, medic, defender, logistician, tactician, merchant, weaponsmith, herbalist, xenobiologist, civil engineer, berserker, survivalist, tailored criminal.
Combat engineer, armorer, assassin, cartographer, animal trainer, miner, politician, and ranger. That's just what's listed. That's redundant. Which was? Politician and criminal? Come on. Just call them together. And then you got... no this is this is actually really cool i mean it seems like there's something for everybody it's gonna hit but yeah i i don't know i just i was watching through the the trailer and just kind of asking myself a very surface level question like does this
does this click with me i'm like yeah it kind of does it kind of does you know i know that you know the way that they put trailers together can only show the best part of the game and they're showing a very idolized you know, gameplay and stuff like that. But the, the general feel of it is what I'm going for. You know, does, is this something I genuinely want to continue to, to look into? And yeah, I'm.
I don't want to get my hopes up too high. I know. I've got a column that's all about, and maybe I'll talk about that this next week. But I'm glad that they're putting out trailers and screenshots like this because there's been some MMO projects in the past. They start talking about it.
and i just have no mental picture of what this game is supposed to be because you've given me three screenshots and they're all muddy um or you know a couple dead blocks but they're kind of like very hedging everything no this this looks like they have a vision but it's still giving them
enough wiggle room to really develop and change things around as they test and SA continue to go forward. I would be very nervous about testing it this early because I would worry about becoming disillusioned in a project. Yeah, no, I get it.
You like something and you're like, man, you touch alpha or pre-alpha and it will just ruin everything. Right. And if it doesn't come out for years and years and years, do you really want to be doing this with every weekend on an unfinished prototype? You know, most of this stuff isn't.
the game not really but i want to be able to check in on it and report to you guys how it's going that i think that will be fun um but i'm not super in love with becoming unpaid qa and that's kind of why i don't like to test betas very much or any kind of test like this we even have that joke i think in our beta watch and have for like 10 years that you too can become the game industry's unpaid quality assurance and i just i don't know
It's hard to explain. I have a particular allegiance to, you know, costers type sandboxes. So I really want this one to do well. But I also have a job. You know what I mean? And I guarantee you guys all do too, unless you're retired, in which case this is actually a fun pastime. But yeah, no, I can't stop looking at the list, Justin. I can't.
because i know that these are like big broad categories and under every single one of these professions is like a whole bunch of other little things like we were talking about this like what what does criminal mean we were talking about this in my guild chat because of course you know
those nerds are awesome my guildies are like really excited about this too they're like well it's probably got like some sort of spy line or maybe some sneaky line or maybe pickpocketing or like you know what about counterfeiting like you could right you can think of all of the cool stuff that could
be under the criminal line and you wouldn't necessarily need all of it like maybe you just want disguises to go with you know i don't know you're a secret undercover geneticist who needs a spy spy i just this is the stuff i love in sandboxes and i just i can't wait and this is what i actually want to test i don't
really care as much about terraforming like that's not true i care about terraforming in like a meta sense like i like that that's a thing that the players in the galaxy can do but like on a block sense i'm like a a micro scale i don't really care that much about blowing up blocks and making things melt and setting things on fire you know what i mean like
I don't know if I'm making any sense, but some people are going to go nuts. Like the Minecraft type people out there are going to go nuts over stuff like this. All right. Well, I'm really excited, Justin. Sorry. Thought we were going to talk more about the trailer, but I'm actually glad to get your thoughts. That was in the trailer, but that was like the meat for me in the trailer was that.
But yeah, no, there's cool stuff. Like you can see all kinds of neat things in the trailer. Like there's a section where one of the characters is like climbing straight out, like scaling a cliff. So that wasn't an invitation to go back. There's good stuff. It's worth it. Check it out. Check it out. It's a minute plus and it's actually very pretty and it's going to maybe hit it for some people.
Yeah, the last thing we want to talk about here, Final Fantasy XIV and closing out the year in at least one good meaty patch. If you've kind of already done all the expansion stuff from Dawn Trail this past summer, know that there's more on the way. 7.0 was, of course, not the beginning, middle, and end. It was only the beginning. And now we have 7.1 coming out this Tuesday. So as you guys are listening to this, you know, more story, more things to do. One really interesting thing.
they're adding in this is kind of a crossover in a little way with final fantasy 11. And they're doing this Alliance Raid series called Echoes of Vanadiel. I'm sure I mispronounced that. Sorry, I did not play a lot of Final Fantasy XI. I think it was also Tactics that had that.
game world but anyways they're doing a bit of like a you know a little bit of a collaboration crossover i don't know if final fantasy 11 is going to have anything but at least 14 is you know kind of remembering this legacy mmo and doing some stuff there so that's kind of cool sweet yeah i think um elliot had a piece this morning uh on things he wanted on a final fantasy that isn't going to be getting that he isn't going to be getting by the way and then next week he's going to be doing like
stuff like a review not review we don't do reviews but like a recap of like some of the stuff in this expansion in this chapter and how it's going patch i guess patch is the right word and um so the first one will be no spoilers and then the one after that
We'll probably have spoilers. So you have a couple of weeks before the spoilers commence is what I'm saying. Otherwise, check out Wisdom of Nim because that's where all of our Final Fantasy stuff will be. Yeah. All right. We have enough time for a piece of mail. We do. all right this one is from sotiris who says hello all i hope that everyone is doing great and that all your mmo dreams are coming true
I do too. That's very sweet. The question is, I was always a big fan of handhelds, and this last year I've devoted the majority of my time to my Steam Deck. I'm also a big MMORPG player, and Steam Deck have proved to be a great device for that. I've been playing Lotro, WoW, and Final Fantasy XIV.
with great success. Another aspect is not only the mobility and small screen, but also using a controller. Steam Deck offers very good customization of its controller and works great with all three games. It comes down to the games themselves and how supportive they are.
Culture works surprisingly well for its age. WoW Retail has some support, WoW Classic needs an add-on, and Final Fantasy XIV offers the best in-game controller support. So my question for you guys is, would you be interested in giving something like this a try, or are you 100% desktop? keyboard mouse players i want a steam deck so badly and i do and i cannot freaking justify it like it would be a toy and it's way too expensive for just a toy
Yeah. That's the only reason I haven't bought one already, but I have sorely been tempted. I have a hard time with that because I've got like a... My father-in-law likes to... buy us toys something like expensive toys i'm never going to use it like i don't you know so you could honestly throw a free steam deck at me and i don't know where that would fit within
my day and my gaming so it probably would end up being either nothing or i would probably load up jurassic world evolution and give it to my son who just loves that game that way he wouldn't be on my computer doing it all the time he would be doing it somewhere else I'm not honestly against controller support at all. I just don't usually use it. And I mean...
Me and consoles, we parted ways back in the PlayStation 2 era. That was the last time I was really seriously invested in consoles. I dabbled in Wii and GameCube and some of this other stuff. But by the time they... the xbox came along and all those i was just i was kind of done with it i was already my allegiance was already with computers i was completely fulfilled with everything that you know mmos and other stuff that computers were doing so you know no hard feelings but
I just don't use controllers that much anymore. I just don't. And yet, a few years ago, I got... octopath traveler which is square square enix um it was a game that they came out with and it got really good reviews so my friends were playing it and they're like oh yeah you got to try this game and i started playing i'm like this is really awkward
with mouse and keyboard and they're like yeah because it's designed for controller like you got to have a controller so i went on i bought like a xbox compatible what pc controller and got it and plugged it in and sure enough it was
way better to use on a controller it was obviously designed for that and it was a great experience in that game and so i kept the controller around and so every once in a while what if there's a game that specifically is more tailored to a controller than mouse and keyboard
I have no problem switching over to it. My problem with when it comes to MMOs is not necessarily the control of it, because I think if like you had a giant TV and you're sitting on your couch or you have a Steam Deck and you just, you know, that.
the analog sticks and everything like that that can actually be relaxing and and less fiddly and again you don't have the hunch forward thing that you might have at computers but you also i i don't know how you handle like typing and communication with other people unless it's all going to be vocal you know through headset so that you know since i type a lot in mmos and often i'm multitasking when i'm playing mmos like uh you know i might have wow over here but i also might you know
i'll tab out because i took a screenshot i want to add something to my blog which is usually how i do blogs or you know hey i had you know i was playing something i had a great daily grind that just popped up and i want to you know having my computer there to multitask is great And if I'm over somewhere else on a controller and one of those things comes up, I got to like find a workaround or something. So that's probably why I just.
probably never use it i'm not inclined to get a steam deck and most of the mmos that are controller compatible which i think by the way is kind of a must In this day and age, unless your game absolutely, there's no way you can figure out how to get in on a controller. You should because of accessibility reasons. Like some people, it's just very hard for them to handle.
mouse and keyboard but it might be a lot easier especially with some of the um disabled like special special controllers that they make uh for like you know just like if you're quadruparaplegic and you can only use your chin you know there are controllers for that and it's really cool to see that but it's much harder to do if it's mouse keyboard so i think that's really important to have that option and if nothing else it broadens your
your base and makes it your game more you know appealing to people so it's kind of a win-win-win it just makes a little extra you know a little extra work probably makes some extra work for you but a lot of these games also are pursuing console releases and if you're doing that you know constantly you might as well so So long, long rambling, whatever, short. I don't use them, but I still think they're important. I have nothing against people that like them and use them.
i i'm kind of i don't really like the rumble function you know like vibrating and stuff i'm a huge glad my mouse doesn't just go you know when i get hit or something like that Yeah, you love tactic feedback. It's the screen shake of controllers. I turn it off on my phone. I turn it off on my controllers. I turn it off on the Switch. Stop doing it.
You know, I'm sure that's very helpful for some people, but for me, it just drives me crazy. I don't know. Yeah, I guess I'm kind of the same way, Justin. Like if I'm sitting at my computer.
I'm so much better with the keyboard and mouse that I don't know why I would switch to the controller But you know, I wouldn't hold it against anybody who needed that like who cares play whatever is your best with in fact I actually found when I was we were playing a little bit of new world in fact my kids are still playing new world on our on our ps5 a little bit i actually looked up and they have these cool like little clip-on keyboards that like
they're kind of like molded to fit around your PS5 controller and they just kind of like snap into place and now you've got a keyboard where your thumbs go. I was like, that's really cool. Like, why didn't you sell that stock?
I almost bought one, but I didn't because I don't want my kids talking to people anyway. But, you know, if I were going to play, you know, hardcore over there, I think that would be really useful. You know, otherwise, I guess you're going out and you're going to get like a.
bluetooth or whatever wireless keyboard and set it on your lap and that's just annoying i'm not gonna that that's that's not comfortable to me so i wouldn't do it so i didn't bother but boy i a handheld is like a different thing to me from playing just on a controller right a handheld it
It's about the games I can bring with me. Like if I just go in and play on the PS5, I don't have most of my MMOs or even most of my like little indie games that I like to play. I can't get Project Gorgon on my PS5. You know what I mean? But I can bring all that stuff.
on my steam deck and it will bring mods and i can you know you're you've got your steam workshop access and yeah you are still dealing with you know the whole device is really your controller but like the convenience of that oh i want one maybe i'll talk my husband into getting one but maybe next year not this year i don't know i think it would be so much fun to play with and i think i would play
It would also help change what I play. I wouldn't play so many pure MMORPGs that require your whole body to be involved in the game. I would definitely play more little things like... like uh like farm together or whatever i just i have tons of these indie gaming scene is so amazing these days you want to know where all the creativity it is it's there it's there
And I buy so many of these things and I never have time to play with play them. And I know I want to play them. But if I'm sitting at my computer, I'm like, well, I've got to play the MMO, right? This is what I do. This is what I am. This is my job. But I think I would probably. I don't know, maybe I'd screw around a little bit more if I had one. So I'm not opposed to them. Definitely not. I actually think that the Steam Deck especially is really cool.
and we have a switch too i mean it's the same concept but again it doesn't it doesn't have the same games it doesn't have the same access so it's a little yet less useful to me personally I do want to kind of put out there, going back to, I know this is not really the question, but indie games, it's really been on my radar. There's so many... so many good games that have come out in the last like say even 10 years and I've just I just haven't had time for I
you know, like I haven't really looked into them and I want to make that one of my new year's resolutions for 2025, like to spend a little bit of you. Yeah. And so I got my steam library and it's like, Oh, this stuff. I have a, I have a two playlist. So I'd like, to ask our listeners like if there's some really genuinely awesome indie games even if they're like five ten years old
put them in the comments. Let us know. Like I'm making a list. I'm making a list of games that might be personally appealing to me in the indie scene. And once that maybe somehow I passed over and I would like to maybe double back and check them out at some point. So. Maybe we'll get a Steam Deck and we'll timeshare it between Bree and I. It'll be like Sisterhood of the Traveling Steam Deck. We'll just mail it back and forth. And someone would steal it along the way.
Yeah, I'd be more worried you'd just get banged up. I'll throw it in a bubble mailer and there you go. I have so many good things on this list, Justin. I have Satisfactory is on my list. I still haven't played it, but it never played it. Necessa. we've we've covered that a bunch of times i bought this and i still haven't gotten to play it last two weeks zero total zero i mean that's like depressing i need
And I even put Ethereal. What is it? Ethereal Echoes of Yore? That's the one that got bought. by one of its fans we've covered this a few times too it like did not do well when it launched and then one of its fans said no i'm buying this thing and i'm gonna fix it and so they've been you know basically with no money just this one fan's funding been fixing this game for like the past
like half year or something and it looks kind of cute so that's on my list too it is it just goes on and on and on and I'll never get to this stuff that's what I really want for Christmas is more time okay we'll make it happen okay
That's all the time we... Speaking of time, that's all the time we have for today's podcast. We gotta let Bree go game here, so you'll excuse us if we... bow ourselves out of the room and you guys go about your week but in the meanwhile it doesn't mean we're not doing anything over there at massively op of course we've got news articles we've got columns we've got streams we got a lot of stuff every single day we keep
that calendar really full for you in fact we have mj back tonight too mj was gone last week she was at a cool place a wink wink i won't tell you where it is but you can guess Delaware? No. She went to a place to play a thing so that she can write about it when she comes back. It's a weird shaped state. Not a lot of people talk about it, but it's cool, man.
once we were challenging ourselves to like try to think of a movie that was set in each state and delaware was the one where everybody tripped up like i think fight club is supposed to be in delaware but wait really yeah i did not know this yeah we actually go down to delaware like all the time like
It's like there's no sales tax on stuff in Delaware. And it's like really we're literally in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. We're like right next to it. So like it's actually sometimes faster to just drive south rather than to drive all the way up to KOP to shop. And there's no sales tax.
So we're like in Delaware, like every couple of weekends. Well, maybe not so much anymore because I don't shop in stores as much as I used to. But back in the day, back in the before times, the best malls were down there. That's that's how I think of Delaware is having good malls. Sorry, Delaware people. Whoa, what's the tourism slogan of Delaware? I have absolutely no idea. I'm going to find this out before we end because, of course, it's endless discoveries.
Delaware. This is your punishment for not turning us off a couple minutes ago when we started talking about Steam games, guys. We're going to end up talking about Delaware. You didn't think we'd get there, but here we are. Go explore Delaware. Endless discoveries, people. All right, well, take care. We'll talk to you guys again next week. Later, everybody.
