Ladies and gentlemen , we are live . This is the moment you all have been waiting for . It's time for the global sensation , the one , the only the undisputed heavyweight podcast in the world the Mass Timber Construction Podcast . And now here's Paul Kramer . Your host missed an episode .
Make sure you comment , like , share and repost any of our content so that we can get the maximum use of the social media platforms to get the good word out there about biosustainability , mass timber construction and all things in between . We are currently in beta testing for module one for the international association for mass timber construction .
What is mass timber module or micro course module one ? So look out for that . Registrations for it will be fully open for a either december or january activation for the course . If you'd like to participate in module one , which will be free to anybody globally , I will make sure I send the link for sharing of that very , very soon .
Let's have a look at what's making news in Mastimba construction land this week and Warthistleton architects , who are really a research-driven practice in London , have also done a lot of work in delivering low-carbon buildings , and in 2009 , they built a nine-story residential building from Mastimba called Murray Grove , and since then they built a nine-story residential
building from mass timber called Murray Grove , and since then they've been pioneering globally for work in this space In the first project in the EU in their EU Horizon Program titled Build in Wood .
It engages a consortium of experts from across the construction industry and timber value chain to look at a standardized way of building systems for potential universal application .
If you'd like to read more around circular economy , urban bank of materials , biomaterials and how that can shift architecture into a new domain where infrastructure in urbanizing our planet addresses carbon costs and intrinsic value of our resources , please head to build in wood resource through the or this is an architect's website , or you can go to our linkedin feed
and to the us now and studio gang has completed the latest expansion on the california college of arts , the cca campus in san francisco .
The newly built hybrid mass timber facility supports the design education while setting a new benchmark in sustainable architecture by connecting CCA's existing main academic building to the new structure and indoor outdoor space , which encourages students and faculty to use the area for creative disciplines and understanding how the expansion of this design for interdisciplinary
interaction can inspire new models of creativity . Jeannie Gang described the building as a place to inspire new forms of making through unexpected interactions between disciplines . If you'd like to see some amazing shots of this particular campus , you'll be able to head to our LinkedIn feed and see the concept drawings .
To head to our LinkedIn feed and see the concept drawings . And to London now . And Mace has its stamp all over the small patch of SE1 in East London Bridge and south of the River Thames . Eagle Eye commuters might have noticed another Mace-branded concrete core shooting up in recent months near what is to be a student tower .
On a sunny day , construction News took a look at the early stage concrete works .
The architecture from Pilbara and Partners designed a 27-story tower which will have the hallmarks of aspirational post-COVID workplace , include flexible exoskeleton that allows tenants to divide the space as they see fit , and there will be exposed cross-laminated timber that will feature as staircases that lead to a community auditorium .
Also landscaping that filters through from the street , blurring the boundaries between inside and outside . If you want to go and have a look at more on this , you can head to our linkedin feed or you could head to the MACE website and see progress shots for the construction of the project . And to Canada now .
And there is some more news coming out of the University of Toronto and just across from their football stadium , workers are putting up the 14-story building space for classrooms and facility for faculty . Each of the wood elements is delivered on a flatbed , then a crane comes along and lifts them into place as a function of a flat pack furniture process .
The tower is using mass timber and the construction of these massive manufactured wood elements can extend more than half the length of the football field , replacing the steel and concrete beams , says a news report . If you'd like to see some more information on the University of Toronto's progress , head to the university website and out of Oregon now .
And the University of Oregon has unveiled the mass timber prototype home that sets a showcase for sustainable , energy efficient alternative to traditional home construction . Designed by the Tallwood Design Institute in collaboration with the University of Oregon and Oregon State University , the 760 square foot project was unveiled in an open house in November .
The home , built by locally sourced mass plywood panels from Ferris Engineered Wood , addresses the issues of affordability , shortages , wildfire resistance and economic sustainability , unlike conventional timber construction homes , which are constructed from mass plywood shaped to fit together like pieces of a gingerbread house , the team says . If you'd like to see some shots .
For this you can head to our linkedin feed or the university of oregon or oregon state university to melbourne , australia . Now . And the 2024 Harry Seidler Award for Commercial Architecture has been taken out by the T3 Collingwood by Jackson Clements Burrows Architecture , which is part of the Heinz development .
The T3 is part of the infamous T3 series , with a high level of architectural rigor and collaborative expertise , which is yielded building that achieves best practice , sustainability targets by innovative mass timber construction and progressive and authentic way of building a better sustainable built environment .
If you'd like to see some more on it , you can actually go and see the all the project credits on the architectureaucom website . And that's it , folks . That's all we've got time for this week in Mastimber Construction and if you'd like to catch up on all the latest news , head to our social media feed . Make sure you didn't miss an episode of the podcast .
And , of course , we have our research division . If you're looking to place a manuscript into the global stage for Mastimber Construction and sustainable built environment , do consider our higher impact journal for publication of your research . Good morning , good afternoon or good evening .
