Episode description
Two years, 122 hours, one recession and a pandemic later, we have at long last reached the greatest milestone in our show's short history. Welcome to the 100th episode of "Mars on Life." In this extended, celebratory episode, we look back on how we have improved from our days of making a scrappy podcast at [classified] to reporting from home via Skype, Internet woes aside. We then answer the ONE question sent our way before we look ahead at the rest of Season 3 and what's in store.
We're three for three as once again there's new COVID-19 developments to report – a point which Sebastian brings up: besides how much it has changed us for the better, COVID-19 as a two-year-old breaking news story has been a constant in our series' development. (To learn more about that "fourth shot" story Sebastian referenced, head to https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2022/02/22/1029057935/who-might-benefit-from-a-4th-shot-and-who-might-not
Today's show not only celebrates 100 episodes and two years on air, but also Sebastian's 24th birthday. As one of the two Greeks on this show, Ryan came bearing gifts. Finally, the birthday boy and Ryan spend the rest of the episode with a strong deal of self-reflection talking about the "Great Resignation," the Great Reshuffle, the atomization of America's middle class and the "labor of love myth." It's a packed show, so come along with us.
