As parents, we know we don’t know everything. But our job is to guide our children to self-discovery so they can do and experience their own passions.

How many of us have been mind boggled by the cheerleader mom who pushes her child to the brink of nervous breakdown to be the best cheerleader on the planet? Or maybe forcing the child to continue cheerleading just because ‘we’ve been doing this for 8 years now and we can’t quit?

I had to grow up as a parent and resist the urge to bully my children into doing what I wanted them to do. Why? My passions are not theirs.
