How will you celebrate Juneteenth? As we enter the weekend of Independence Day, we look back at what feels like a last-minute announcement from the White House in June of 2021: We have a new national holiday. What does the Juneteenth holiday mean to black people and how might we celebrate it? Well, no one knows, and it's not like all black folks view the holiday the same way... so let's start there. And here are some ideas shared among some of my dear friends, Carlos & Dimitri Clarke, and Tony Chukes, all of us are part of the Denver Church of Christ and have been for decades. It was only a few years ago, however, that I was invited to actually swap stories about race and what it's been like for them to live as black in America.
