If you are a business leader looking to foster a positive workplace culture, enhance team effectiveness, and navigate challenges effectively while focusing on strategic objectives, or if you simply want to make work work better, then join us for a mini workshop where we share three things you can do today. I'm your host, Dr. Marc Reynolds. Today we're going to talk about how to foster greater creativity and innovation in yourself and your teams. Here's the problem.

Your team, your company, or you are in a rut. You're feeling more like a machine than a human. You don't feel inspired or motivated to grow and progress. Your teams keep looking to 1 or 2 people to come up with solutions and have the good ideas. You or your employees believe that you aren't a creative person or you aren't an innovator. Think again. Here are three things you can do today.

First idea incubation sessions organize regular idea incubation sessions where employees from different departments come together to brainstorm and discuss new ideas. These sessions can be informal, designed to encourage open, free flowing conversation without the pressure of immediate implementation. Use techniques like mind mapping, rapid prototyping, and creative exercises to stimulate innovative thinking to foster culture creativity.

The executive should actively participate in these sessions, showing a commitment to innovation. I would suggest that the executive have someone else facilitate this session. Whether it's an outside consultant like myself, or whether it's a team member that you trust to facilitate this.

That is more in the rank and file of the company, so that you, as an executive, can jump in and be shoulder to shoulder with your employees and for a moment not have this hierarchy in place, but where where you're all working together to contribute ideas and innovate that break down for a moment of this hierarchy of this pressure is a really valuable tool. Later on, when you need to reach out to these different employees for their unique perspective and insight. Second innovation time off.

Allocate specific times during the work week, often referred to as innovation time, where employees can work on passion projects or explore new ideas outside of their regular responsibilities. This concept, inspired by companies like Google, encourages employees to pursue innovative projects that interest them. The executives should support this by providing resources such as access to tools and materials, by showcasing successful projects to the broader organization.

Before initiating innovative time off. It's worth having some workshops or training sessions to give people ideas of how to structure that time or to use that time so it's productive, and not just a time where time is wasted or not focused on this. There's still needs to be accountability. The third idea I have for you today is to provide opportunities for continuous learning and exposure to new ideas through workshops, courses and conferences focused on creativity and innovation.

This can include inviting guest speakers, organizing cross department knowledge sharing sessions, or offering subscriptions to online learning platforms like Coursera or Udemy. Encourage employees to share what they've been learning with their teams. Foster culture of continuous improvement and creative thinking. The executive can lead by example, by actively participating in these learning opportunities and sharing their own insights and experience. Be curious. In our world today.

Curiosity is being beat out of people. Creativity and innovation is never been needed or valued more. Take time to be creative, explore and find inspiration. It doesn't come from nowhere. It comes from finding different sources of inspiration, knowledge, growth And finding new ways to think about the world around you. If you'll implement these three ideas, you're going to start to foster greater creativity and innovation in yourself and your teams.
