¶ Introduction to Water Element
Hello Magical Human . Welcome back to Madison Mindset , the podcast . I'm here with the second episode in our elemental series . In this series we're going through the five elements and noting what they teach us about self-care and self-healing . So I already recorded the earth element episode . You can find it wherever you are .
If you found this one , you can definitely find the last one . It was just the last major episode that's been uploaded . Go and check it out . Definitely , start there . I would definitely recommend starting there , unless you're particularly interested in the water element . But all of these are supposed to go together .
So try to go and listen to that one first , if you haven't already , and you may have even joined me on Patreon to go a little bit deeper into some of those practices . That Patreon coaching session came out last week and it was really beautiful .
We went through again all of the earth element lessons and actually put some of them into practice so that we can use them regularly . So that session , that coaching session , is there and available for you . Go and use it . Super good , a super good tool . I'm still getting used to video podcasting . I don't know . I really don't know .
I know it's a big thing right now and I'm sure there are people well , I know there are people that are watching this who prefer to watch it over listening , but myself I'm very much an audio podcast person . I much prefer that . But that's okay .
We're here going with the flow of things , which is great , because the water element is just that going with the flow . When you're ready , let's jump in . Hello , magical Human and welcome to Madison Mindset Podcast . My name is Madison . I'm a yoga teacher , a mindset and spirituality coach and a complete earth fairy .
I see a world that is peaceful and easy to live in , humans that are awakened and enlightened towards who they are and what life truly is and why we are here . I understand life can be really hard . I've had a huge journey with anxiety myself . I understand what it's like to feel overwhelmed , overworked , stressed and frustrated within this earth .
It is this journey that led me to begin my own growth journey journey and is only through those struggles that I was able to birth this podcast so that you can have the tools and techniques and knowledge to help you step forward and be a being of light , a magical earthly being who's grounded , who takes on challenges with love and embraces the lessons that each
day brings . You are that being . I am here to walk you there . You will find many different kinds of episodes through this podcast . All are created in the moment and with love for you . Find the one you need for this moment and enjoy . Take a moment for yourself , sit down with your journal and tune in . Welcome , let's begin . So
¶ Hydration and Body Functions
. So Okay , the water element . The water element is connected to the emotional and physical body , so the earth element was mainly focused on the physical body . The water element we're going to take from the perspective of emotional and physical , and there are five different things .
I want to mention that the water element can teach you about taking care of your body . Reminder that your body is made up of earth stuff , but it's also made up of all the elements , right , anything that you can find on the earth . Right , you've got earthly things about you . You know your physical structure , the way you're put together , all of those things .
You've also got water . Your body is mostly made out of water . We all know this . Now , this is a well-known fact . Right , you need water more than food sometimes . Right , your fire , you know your digestive system and the way that your body supports itself and mends itself , and that you know it takes effort and you know movement to go and cleanse the body .
Your immune system , like all of it , is very much in line with the fire element of cleansing and purifying the body Air . Think about the air in your lungs . It's all there , right . And then , of course , we've got space , which is the fifth element , which goes a little bit deeper into spirituality Very cool .
So when you put all these together , it's really awesome . The water element is connected with emotional and physical body . So the first thing that I'm going to tell you which you probably already guessed it is hydration , drinking water . Many people Do not drink enough water . Okay , there was a study done in Australia .
80% of Australians experience daily dehydration and a large majority of that 80% could be chronically dehydrated , which means constantly dehydrated . In the average person , for women , you need about 2.7 liters per day , men 3.7 liters per day .
This can range depending on your age , height , weight , all of those things , but basically it's about 12 to 15 glasses of water , potentially more . You can definitely overdo it , but most of us are severely underdoing it Now .
Water makes up the majority of your body , so it's obviously important and to give you an idea as to what water's function is inside your body . I actually wrote down some facts that I found that water does , just to make sure that I'm on the right track with this , right ? Okay , water is absolutely vital to support bodily functions in every way , right .
It transports nutrients , it transports oxygen to cells , it eliminates waste in the body , it regulates your body temperature , it lubricates joints , it helps with digestion , it protects organs and tissues .
Okay , so we're looking at it's important , from moving nutrients around your body to the organ function , to how you actually go to the toilet and what your whole digestive system , how it's functioning . Joint lubrication , tissue protection , maintaining blood pressure , moisturizing the whole body inside out . It even lubricates the eyes , right ?
So think about this If you're seriously , chronically dehydrated , how many different areas of your body are going to take a hit ? Even if you're eating salads all day but you're not drinking water , the transportation of nutrients is going to be limited . You're not even getting correct oxygen levels . Like it's unbelievable .
Pretty much your entire body shuts down without water . Okay , there's , you know , brain function , there's everything . It literally serves as a lubricant in the body . It makes up your saliva , it relieves constipation , it moves food through . Seriously . Even kidneys and liver obviously need help as well .
There's so much here about what water does for the body , and if you're curious any more than what I've just gone into , go and do your own research , find out why it's so important . But if you are dehydrated , you are letting your body down in a major way . Every function in your body , pretty much every part of your body , is going . Why can't you help me ?
We have . If you're living in the Western world , anyway , in modern day you have reasonably good access to water , I would think . And then , of course , we can go into all different things , such as what type of water are you drinking ? Because there's a lot of poison in a lot of water .
So understanding where you're getting it from and filtering it properly would be great for your body as well . And there's even things such as drinking structured water . Okay , so most of the water we drink is unstructured , meaning it's very just plain . Let's use the word plain .
Your body is meant to be drinking unstructured sorry , structured water , meaning you know it's trickled through rivers and it's gone over beautiful rock beds and collected all these beautiful minerals all the way down and salts , and then you drink it right out in nature . That's what's happening . But because our water doesn't typically go through beautiful streams .
It travels through gross pipes , so you actually miss out on the minerals and the salts that the water can carry .
So to help your body hydrate even better , if you just put a little squeeze of lemon and a little pinch of pink salt or Celtic salt , I think it's called but yeah , himalayan pink salt , not table salt , right , something like that Just a pinch of that , it adds a little bit of flavor to the water . It's a bit weird in the beginning .
It actually feels different in the body . So , yeah , give that a try , it will actually increase your hydration . But yeah , seriously , the water element is just being so obvious , isn't it ? Drink water now , seriously , okay . So that's the first one . The second one water exposure .
¶ Water Exposure Benefits
It has been proven that staring at large bodies of water or trickling waterfalls , just observing water in nature , is shown to be very calming for the brain and it really helps you recover emotionally and stress wise Okay . So getting exposure to the water on a visual level is great , but also on hearing level as well .
If you can even just play on your phone the sounds of rain or a trickling stream , notice how relaxing that is . It seriously is so calming for the body . It really slows everything down . And then , of course , there's things such as actually getting in the water .
You know , and this is where you could look into cold water exposure , although , just be mindful , this is different for men and women . Most of the studies have been done on men . Women don't need as cold , okay , so just be mindful , and definitely not around the time of your bleed .
You want to stay away from cold water , then , but actually going for swims in beautiful places , you know , and being within the water , this is great . It's also a great way to charge . You know the negative electrons in the water running over the beautiful nature . I'm not talking about sterile public pools All right , that's not too bad , but ideally no .
Try and find , you know , the ocean or something . Get yourself in it , be with the water . It is so good for you . Listen to it , look at it , seriously helps . The next one it also invites us to look at cleanliness
¶ Cleansing Physical and Emotional Bodies
. Water is a great way to clean , hence you use it over your body , you use it to wash your hair , you use it to wash the house or to wipe the benches or whatever it is . Rain cleans a lot , you know , gets things to move . It's a beautiful way to cleanse . The body , including your space , needs cleansing . Are you taking care of yourself ?
How is your hygiene ? Are you supporting the health of the body ? Are you supporting your own cleanliness ? And then think of emotional cleansing as well . If you were sweeping all those emotions under the rug gross right , that's like sweeping dirt under the rug and just leaving it there . It will be turned over eventually . We'll all see it .
So why don't you cleanse emotionally a little bit as well ? Do some meditation , do some deep breathing work . Face the emotions that come up , allow them to pass through and move on , just like a wave . Let them flow in , let the tide come in and then let it push away again . Let it come and go very naturally .
Let it cleanse you , let the idea of water cleanse you . Meditate to the sound of the rain , stand out in the rain and scream if you need to . Allow yourself to cry if you need to . You know water again the tears , helps all the stagnant stuff get out . Help yourself , let go . Cleanse physically , cleanse emotionally . It will really help your health .
All right , emotional baggage and pain that's left untouched can be very draining on the physical body and can be a big drain on your health . So water invites us to cleanse cleanse the emotional body , cleanse the physical body . You'll feel better , you'll feel lighter . The next thing is letting go
¶ The Art of Letting Go
. Now this kind of comes into the last one , but letting go Water element has been tied with letting go . Let it go , don't hold on , just let it go . Okay , as you go through life , let things go .
If you're trying to hold on to everything , holding on , you're gripping onto things , you're collecting things in a , you know , in a backpack and you're putting it on your back and all your shoulders are so heavy carrying all these heavy things . You have to be able to let old pain go , to let old experiences go , to let old hopes go .
If you need to , to let things go . Be in a constant cycle of letting things go . The more you hold on , the more your shoulders are going to tense up from holding this heavy weight and the more drain you're putting on your health and your wellness . Relax , let it go . It's as simple as exhaling . Let it go .
It might take a while to let things go , but have this constant idea of life is flowing in , flowing out . Flowing in , flowing out . Let it come in , let it go out . Don't try and grip and hold onto things that are flowing in this beautiful river of your life . Let it come and let it go , let it pass .
If you're sitting at one point in a river and you're watching water come and go , imagine trying to stand in the water and trying to keep the water that was coming because it's more beautiful than the last one . Or you're not sure what's going to happen down the river and you just want that water to stay .
Can you imagine how physically draining it would be to hold on to that particular bit of water ? It'd be impossible . Well , that's exactly what life is like . Life is constantly beginning and ending , coming and going . You cannot hold on to everything . You can't hold on to anything , not even your physical body in the end .
So allow things to come and allow things to go . Be in that cycle of coming and going . Coming and going . It will help so much , trust me . If you're struggling with that again , go and check out the Patreon . We're going to do some exercises for letting go in there . Or you can start a yoga practice , do some meditation .
Feel free to email me or DM me on Insta and we can chat about it , but just focus on letting it go . Letting it go . The final thing that water can teach us about health is
¶ Movement Prevents Stagnation
movement . Have you ever seen a river that is flowing so gracefully , so effortlessly ? Have you seen how clear and beautiful that water is Beautiful ? Have you seen a river that's quite stagnant , that's moving very slowly or not at all ? Have you seen how gross that water is ? Okay , this is a lesson . If you are stagnant all the time , you never move .
You never do any yoga postures , you never do any stretching , you never go for a walk , you never go to the gym or do some exercise . You're a stagnant river and it feels that way . Internally , you feel stagnant . It's gross , it really is . But when you move , you know how good it feels .
When you move your body , when you give it a big stretch , when you bend to the left , bend to the right , when you move , when you get your heart rate up , how much better do you feel You've got to move . Movement is a huge key . It doesn't matter what kind of movement you want to do .
A variety is great , but just choose some kind of movement and do that daily , regularly . It doesn't have to be the exact same time or the exact same movement every day , but move .
If you get stagnant on the couch , binge watching Netflix or whatever else , you know how stagnant and gross you feel after that Binge scrolling on Insta or YouTube or whatever it is . Notice how heavy that feels . Let's change it up . Let's lighten the load and move . Change it up . Let's lighten the load and move .
