Vacations. I ever wanted vacation, had to get away. I know they were a little what I don't know, a week late, Mac, but both party a little party to the party. But both of us have recently gone on vacation. How was yours, lovely go I'm one of those types now, I don't know about you. I'm one of those types that all I want to do on vacation is relax, maybe drink, maybe do an activity or two. I am for sure not one of those people that go

on vacation then plan thirty things, including fifteen hikes. That's not me at all. I don't know about you. Yeah, my vacation went a little family trip. You know, we didn't get sick of each other by the end. Definitely not. Also, you know, I might need another vacation after that's so so tired. I'm so love you know. I was asleep, So I have a three year old son. I was asleep every night by nine thirty, don't get me wrong. Don't get me wrong. I

was brody, bruising it. I had a little cup with me at all time, so I was properly lubricated. But I'm just so so tired. When I got back. I was like, I need more days. There's nothing, nothing better, And I get shit on all the time for this. I like day drinking, going to bed early. I hate staying up late. Hate it. I do it in my regular life often, like sometimes at home, I don't get to bed till midnight one o'clock. But I would prefer to get to bed early while enjoying the fun and the sun.

I much prefer that over staying up till four yem that's for sure. One three year, just three, King of Queen and Middle Street Entertainment, Goo Mack ready to talk. Turtles r r rong outfit? Well, yeah, you wore unless you have a pink one of those. I don't. I do not. I'm glad. Real visual gag there for the folks at home who was wearing a turtle's eyemask there, Yes, made for a child? Did not fit my face? Well it almost did? Ye good.

Today we are talking about and I was thinking about this now. It's It's not um either of our favorite movie of the year. But I would say, based on the way we reacted to this movie throughout the year leading up to it, that this was the most anticipated release of twenty twenty three for us, I would say that it was one of them just out of curiosity, That's what I mean. Today we're talking about Barbie, and I'll tell you what good this a Barbie. This is a movie that well, First

of all, I actually think they announced this like four years ago. Then COVID happened, But Robbie has been attached to this project for a long time after Schumer. Once I learned that, yes, correct, once I learned that Greta gerr Wig was going to be directing it. She of course directed Ladybird, which I loved, one of my favorite movies in the last decade. It was A Little Women, which did really well. Then I was

like, Okay, there's like something to this. Isn't just gonna be some goofy nonsense, Like there's gonna be like a good heart to this movie, which Gerwig has done really well in the past. Go I would say, after seeing this movie, I don't think that she could have made a better version of this movie. I think it could have been a less a little less bashing you over the head, a little less um. I think they could have punched up the jokes a little bit more too. Yeah, But

also again it's Barbie. We're talking about. It Isie. So they had to be a certain amount silly with it too, right, And I'll tell you this right now. I enjoy the fact that most of this movie felt like a twelve fifty five sketch on SNL. Yeah, and then when Gerg worked in the emotional moments, at least for me, I think it worked really well. Maybe for some it didn't. I think it was hit or miss for me. Go Barbie is a PG thirteen adventure comedy and fantasy with

a runtime of one hundred and fourteen minutes, just under two hours. I do think there's a tad bit of a lull in here, and the emotional moments might slow it down, But I don't think you can cut much out of this movie. I think I think there's a bunch you could cut out because they have like six different storylines going on at once, and you could have I'm sorry, what is happening with your face? Do you want to call a time out? What do you mean? A bunch you could cut

out of this movie. There's like five different storylines going on at once. You don't need to have all them in there. There's two storylines and you could argue there's a C story as well. There's like at least a D, maybe an E. How many letters are there twenty six? I just count twenty six, so there's twenty six different storylines going on at once. There's an A, B, and C story like most stories have. Why

don't You ABC your way out of Here? On Rotten Tomatoes currently go eighty eight percent from the critics, eighty four percent from the audience on Metacritic at eighty so this is universally liked. And the main blowback from this movie has been from the far right, saying that it promotes everyone wanting to be gay, it promotes down with the patriarchy. So this movie stinks. I'll tell you what. I don't know if there's gonna be ever a movie for those

folks, So don't see movies if that's your reaction. Well, that one about the kidnapping. They're really into that one right now. Yeah goo. Like I said before, this movie is written by Greta Gerwick, who wrote Ladybird and Little Women, also written by Noah Bomback, who her husband. These two her husband wife too, Yeah, occasionally worked together. Noah Bomback is actually the writer from the Life Aquatic, which studs sue very underrated film,

Fantastic Mister Fox. Great film Madagascar three, one of your favorites to do a marriage story, which I liked more than most. This is directed by just Gerwig. No no direction from Bomback. I would know her from How I Met Your Dad? Yes, there you go. She actually did. Yes, she was the star. Yeah, I think she directed it as well. I don't think she did. I think she's just the star. I think she also directed it. Maybe that seems like a tall task

to be the star and director of a sitcom. Was a sitcom? Yeah, it's a sitcom, How I Met Your Dad. It was the follow up to How I Met Your Mother. I thought it was just a one off. All right, Well it only got one episode. It did not go along. Okay, well there you go. So then is that why they reboot it with the Hillary Duff one? Same idea? Okay, your favorite? Yeah, yeah, I love. I mean, who's who doesn't like Hillary Duff? Oh yeah, I would say. I would say every

gender and every race on this planet is a fan of Hillary Duff. She was great and Gossip Girl synopsis. Barbie suffers a crisis that leads her to question her world and her existence, essentially an existential crisis she has in this movie. And I thought the way in which the way in which is exposed

itself, the way that it's brought upon us, is done well. And then when you find out how it's really happening, which Barbie didn't think was the case, I thought that was a nice little touch on everything, dude. This movie stars Margot Robbie as Barbie, Ryan Gosling as Ken and before I get to everyone else, two of the best acting performances of the year.

If I hadn't seen Oppenheimer prior to recording this, I would I think you could make an argument for either one, especially Robbie being the best killing Murphy and Oppenheimer was incredible, But Robbie and goslingen here are fucking incredible. I think it's very well casted. I'm not sure if I think it's the best performances on the year, two of the best. I mean, you could put it up there, but I wouldn't put it like the upper echelon. Yeah, I would say, for sure, Okay, that's fine,

you can do whatever you want. Good. Also in this movie, Issa Ray as Barbie. She's President Barbie. Kate McKinnon as Barbie, Weird Barbie, Alexandra Ship as she was like the Nobel Peace Prizing winning Barbie. She's

the Barbie that's stole my heart. She is very attractive. Emma Mackie is Barbie, Harry Neff as Barbie, Sharon Rooney as Barbie, Anya cruz Kane as Barbie, Rita Ariyah as Barbie, Duelipa as Mermaid Barbie, Nicole Coughlin as Barbie, and then Emerald Fennel as Midge, which was a really nice Now that was a good joke. I did like the Mitch joke. We also have more Ken's in here, Cemu Louis Ken, Kingsley benn aderes Ken and Coody Goattwa as Ken, Scott Evans as Ken, John Cena as Merman

Ken, and Michael Sarah as Alan. I liked Allen as well. Alan and Midge were really nice add ons to this whole thing. And then the more the essentially the real people we get in here is America Ferrera as Gloria, the mother to Arianna Greenblatt's Sasha. We have Raya Perlman as Ruth Handler. That was my that's my biggest drawback of this whole thing, which we'll get to we talk about the movie that the inclusion of all that I thought

was bizarre. Helen Mirren as the narrator in here, which is one of my favorite things. The movie did a couple funny lines. Great job Will Farrell as Mattel's CEO, and then Connor Swindel's as Aaron Dinkins. He is the Mattel worker in the basement there that figures out what's going on. Yeah, they were all in it. I think I'm sorry, and not to harsh your mellow here. Yeah. Yeah, but I think outside of the first two, they're outside of Robbie and Gosling, I think the rest is

almost all interchangeable. Cameos Oh. I loved Siemulu. I thought he was I thought he was okay. But I think you got it's that flat line of Wars. That day when you saw this movie. Is that No. I had a great day for dinner at the theater. I had vodka, sodas and popcorn. I don't understand. I don't get it. You were you might have been most excited to see this movie. Is that why I don't understand I did join a Barbie cult. Maybe I have broken free from

the cult. I don't know what happened. You have someone's there's some some foul play at a foot here. Do this story to me? And maybe some people don't like this aspect because it's not quote unquote, it's not the most original story you've ever seen. Correct. This is like sort of a Pinocchio meets a toy story. Those are the sort of it's sort of a weird love child of those two stories. Um, so you've definitely seen elements

of everything in here before. It's just a new spin on it. But I think that, like Barbie is a ridiculous toy and they and they really lean into that and they talk about that, and so there are ridiculous elements of this movie. So I really like you could only make this movie with certain toys, and I feel like Barbie was a great candidate for it. It'll be great with Polly Pocket, with Slinky, with Mattel's Hot Wheels, with Let's see here. Uno describe the Uno movie to me. If you

take a card that says draw for more, You're gonna die. So it's like a it's like a home to first, second, third. It's a lot like Russian Roulette. It's a big Russian Roulette. Uno game is it'd be a lot of splatter go. The music of this movie I thought was great, great use of music in here, very catchy music as well. I liked the opening Lizzo slash, like the reintroduction of it with like the different lyrics. I enjoyed that. I thought everything du Aalipa in this movie

v just didn't feel right. The song didn't feel right. Her as mermaid didn't feel right. I just didn't like, do you aacking me personally right now? I'm trying to attack you right now? You say, boy, why would du Elipa even stand out to you in this movie other than me loving Duelipa. She couldn't even get the dial high, Barbie. She didn't even sound correct saying it. That's how mermaids talk. You. Mermaids are real and they're all white. You know what? Go? Yeah, I'm

I my I hated tena mentie. I'm giving it thirteen hot dougs. Oh why would you do that to me for the target audience? Thirteen? Uh? I actually not only did the Lizzo song make me laugh, the Barbie the Duelippa, whatever the name of the song is, The fucking rifts been stuck in my head for a week. But moreover, the Billie Eilish song that is used in the most emotional moment of the film is I don't even really like William Eilash all that much. She's hit or miss obviously very talented,

fucking great song. It's been it's legit and stuck in my head for ten days now since the moment I watched this, and I thought that was a perfect use of a song in a movie. How about the Barbie girl sample, Oh the Ice Spice sung? Yeah, yeah, that was okay, all right, okay, but that's a that's four notable songs right there, and you told me you didn't like the songs. I think it's also

very similar to Elf for a little bit of time. But then I'm happy that they brought it back to Barbie Land so quick that which was so I thought this movie did a good job of you think it's gonna go this way and they're like, oh, all right. I like that they did this instead, because I feel like if it went the other way, that's the feeling you should have about the movie. But if they stayed in last movie Subverted Girl. If so. First off, I think they stayed in La

maybe a smidge too long. But if they stayed there the entire time, I thought it would have stunk. Okay, that's fair. Okay, I stayed in La for seven minutes. I'm telling you the movie that's in my head right now. I thought this movie has a great heart to it. It's a feel good movie with a pretty good message in it. I like the message of you deciding your own identity. Yes, you don't have to fit into this Barbie doll box that they're trying to force you into. You

can break the mold and become whoever you want. I think the message of the movie is the best part. No, Actually, Gosling and Robbie are also great, But the message is I think what puts it over the top of me saying that it is a good movie. I'm not saying it's bad. Mac. You just want me. You're trying to put me in a box right now. You're trying to tell me that I need to love this movie. But out of your way to throw strays at Dua Lipa. You're

the first person to make any comments about Duallipa in this movie negatively. Hi, Barbie, she's a robot, she's a mermaid. I didn't hear you say anything about John Cena and the same thing. Oh no, let's I'm sorry, females, Let's get to that cameo as well. That cameo stunk, oh for two in our last two pods for John Cena not great. Yeah, this is a bad stretch for Sena. Right, Yeah, he's gonna he's gonna do better work than this. Yeah, dude, I think

this very well might be the funniest movie of the year. I laughed out loud throughout the entire movie. I did go through a bunch of comedies when I spoke with DJ Bean about this. You can go check out the Brunch podcast as well, that as his with Pete Blackburn. But I have a couple of movies that I do think are funnier. I think that GEOTG three was funnier. I think joy Ride was way funnier. I think that Turtles. I think Turtles is funnier, but I could see the going back and

forth on there. I think Spider Versus funnier. I think that Air is funnier. So I haven't seen joy Ride, which I do need. BlackBerry's funnier. BlackBerry's not funnier, but it's specifically Howard and now everything Howarden says in It just kills me. Air is a very funny movie. Guardians obviously is a very funny movie. I think this not only had more jokes,

you know what. I think that Renfield Renfield got me to lawmore. Redfield still might have single hardest laugh of the year, although this one comes close when Redfield gets back to his partner and Cage is sitting there that that's maybe the funniest moment of That's a great scene. There's a great Snyder cut joke in this movie that I don't think it's that funny. I think you bet what do your your your beta cut? Fucking we can't call each other beta

cuts this entire episode. Mac, oh, you look you like the Snyder cut? Do you would you like when Rolling Stone put at number one by mistake? I did? I said, it's finally getting its proper Do get to the fucking gauntlet? All right, Mac, Let's get into the gauntlet here. Fun factor and I do think that it is fun. It is very stylized and a lot of it is very fun. It's just that I think that they rush through a couple of these storylines and they don't conclude them.

I want, I'm gonna need you to um really really explain yourself when we get the spoilers. Okay, one, I had an absolute blast throughout this movie. I think this movie is made to be one of the more fun theater experiences in a while. Makes sense because you're a beta cuck. Yes make shirt right now, satisfactor, Mac, And I think I'm satisfied by what they gave us because, like you said earlier, this is probably the best that they can do with this property. Yep, I think that.

And I'm also very satisfied with the Pinocchio like elements at the end of this Yeah, like when Robbie grows her nose out right correct. I like the whole real boy, real girl aspect to this borometer And in the third act, Now, while I do like the dance scene, the big dance number, if you will not to spoil anything, the build up to that dance number I thought was incredibly boring and kind of the second act. I want to say that's in the third act. How many acts are in this

movie? The twenty six acts. So in the at the end of the twenty first act when they introduced the dance number. So the dance number, I really like how outlandish and wild it is, like completely out of left field. But the build up was not great to me. I know, I think there's a couple of lulls in this movie. I'm not going to pretend it was. There wasn't St Angeles too, but go ahead whatever.

I also, I do feel like it was paced well, but there are a couple like head scratching moments that are just dropped in there that I really didn't like. I thought you were going to scratch your head when you said that, I'm like, that's great, but you were. You were taking sweat off your brother was wiping sweat off my bald ass head. Um. I also feel like, as much as I bought into the more emotional moments of the movie, I could see people not buying into those. They were

a little over the top. But also you feel like they were over the top on purpose. Was I made fun man? Or am I a Muppet? Very similar to that Hallow? Are you or are you? Barby Borometer? We just did that Halloween. Will Wayne Over time. This is a very good question. Actually, this might be the most puzzling movie of all

time. I'll go first. Yes, Um, I think because Barbie Barbie is timeless, and there's as Bart Harley drivers, what's the other one to Hank Barley too or something like that, what's the fucking day Barley from my

Dad's a pair of pants? Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Give us the fourth Barley for our mount Rushmore are timeless jokes in here, timeless references in here, and although there are some topical ones as well, I think because Barbie is timeless, this movie is gonna be kind of timeless. Equator. This is above the Aquator folk show. I'm not a hater, Mac, I'm a realist. Okay, sure, No, I'm telling you credit union. Who would you like to give credit to? I will give

it to the two main stars of this movie. They encapsulate characters extremely well. Yep. I'll also give credit here to Gretit Gerwig for executing a very bizarre but clear vision. And although it was cleared or us leading up to it, Like, once you got into this movie, you're like, oh, I see what she's doing here. I like what she's doing. She for sure put on screen the vision she had. Let me actually take a

step back and give credit to Mattel. Mattel let Gearwig really just have fun and just proud and poke at what Barbie is, what the toy company is, what this big conglomerate is, and they said, you can do whatever you want, Like the company deserves a little bit of credit for that, right, can you retract the credit now that post movie they're being like,

I think we're gonna do a mateloverse. Okay, I'm gonna take another step back and I'm gonna take my credit away and I'm gonna give it to Ken Good Kennergy, Right, shout out Ken Border, your brother in luck. Shout out yes, because now you know he's a part of the movie. Yes, he was uncredited Ken Yes, Pants Density Excite bike Mania. What got you going? And I think that Gossling got me going real hard? No, Uh, funniest character in the movie the Casa Dojo House was it

that helped me out here? Yeah? Something like that Casa Dojo House thing. Everything with that, and then also the love for horses. The musical number at the end really is funny. Yeah, there's there's There's a lot of fun and a lot of funny scenes throughout, but I do think it kind of lacks the one pants tent moment unless you really bought into those those couple dance numbers, I would say, however, and they do make a joke about this. Robbie being in the movie sort of makes the whole run

time a pants tent. So yes, all one hundred and fourteen minutes we're a pants tent for those of you tardy to the Mac and Goop party. We rate everything on a forty hot dog rating system in Mac. You're more excited than this than I am, so go right ahead, Okay, Like I said, uh, it's a it's elements of stories we've seen before brought together here cranked up to eleven. Robbie learning how to be come a quote unquote real girl is pretty satisfying. The music is great. Really props the

movie up for me. I guess maybe not for goo feel good movie with a feel good message. I thought, as funny as it was the one moment they're gonna show when Robbie gets nominated for Best Actress. Here is the moment where she's crying during the Billie Eilish song you know that You're going to see that at the Oscars. I thought that was a very good emotional moment, but again I could see that being too much for some. I thought this movie got weird enough too. You know, with the premise, they

definitely could have got more bizarre, but it was enough for me. They leaned into the ridiculous premise. Having the narrator I thought was a good call to sort of tidy things up. I thought they went too far here though, with Barbie's Creator all that roof stuff. Didn't need that in there. Those were a couple of drops that I thought really hurt the pacing of the

movie. That was a little bizarre. ID I didn't care for either scene with her credit to Greta Gerwig here Goo, I thought already done that. I thought there were moments in this movie that felt almost like a wes Anderson movie, especially with the traveling and some of the cut scenes. Yeah, like very wes Anderson, like the fantastical nature of it. Yeah, so she she really dipped into her bag on that. I appreciate that. There

was good references throughout this movie. Uh, some again more topical than timeless. The Snyder joke fucking killed me. Every beach joke made me laugh, and there were a ton of them. And then the Allan and mid stuff was very funny as well. Again, there was a little bit of a boor in here. There was some predictability, especially as you got into the third act. Nothing groundbreaking, but they did do everything really well. But ultimately, what props this movie up more so than the music, are the

performances by Margot Roby and Ryan Gosling. They're both incredible. As I've got this at thirty five hot Dogs my number five movie of twenty twenty three. Just above it is Guardians three, and just below it is Mission Impossible, Deadreck Get Part one. So I'm gonna go ahead and a little cop out for you here, MACKI ready for this, Okay, sure, I'm not the target audience for this movie? Wow? Where have I heard that before? See you guys later. Goo you wear fucking matching onesie outfits? You

are so so deep into the target audience for this movie. What I am enough? I do have the kennerge. I'm telling you, are you a scrull? Is this really good? What the fuck is this? So? It is a wonderfully stylized and hypercolored vision that is completely all Greta Gearwig, and you can tell that she got everything that she wanted throughout this entire runtime of the movie. And I do like portions of this journey, but I'm not sure if it all comes together by the end. Having said that,

though Mac I love the overall message of creating your own identity. I'm completely in with that. It tries to do a lot. It takes a lot of big swings, but I also think it misses on a lot of those swings. I'm not sure how many home runs there are. I'm also not even sure how many singles there are. I think this is funny, but it could have been punched up more. You could have had funnier stuff.

A lot of this feels like a twelve fifty five sketch on SNL. I've already mentioned that, and I feel like Gosling is the main one that carries that. It reminds me a lot of that Kyle Mooney sitcom sketch that they had, and Gosling is in one of those where he plays do Gay. I think that that is pretty much what a lot of that character feels like. And I do like that a lot of ha funny, not a lot of ha ha funny for me Mac. So I'm not saying the jokes feel

lazy, but they just they don't feel like they're fully realized. I like them taking shots at Mattel. I like Mattel taking that, but like we talked about earlier, let's pull that back because Mattel, they're like, hey, take this hot wheel and shove it. You're gonna love it. So I'm right around thirty one hot tucks. Dude, I don't know. I don't know how you can say that TMNT was so funny and then this wasn't without a doubt. Barbie mentioned being milked once. I would have been in.

I know you would have been in. That would have been your pants, I questioned, I you know, I wish I could have seen this movie with you. I question your state of mind. Maybe it was the crowd. I feel like maybe on a second rewatch, you might appreciate it more. I don't know. I might not watch this movie again. I don't care. So here's the other thing. Would you admit this? People are gonna remember twenty twenty three obviously for Spider Verse and Oppenheimer, but they'll

mention Barbie. No. I actually, i'll tell you right now. I think when people think back to this year in movies, it's gonna be to Oppenheimer and Barbie, like that weekend Barbenheimer. I just fucking thought of it. Barmenheimer is a cultural phenomenon. I actually just read today too. Barbie just broke the record for a most movie ever made by a solo female directed movie. So that's something as well. Brian France and it was right,

movies are back like that to me. We thought we talked about it all the time, like theater movie versus at home movie, Like this was such a fun theater experience, and the pops and the sound and the visuals play so well in the theater. I don't think you'll lose much on home watches like you would on say a Mission Impossible. This was just such a delightful theory. I'll tell you right now. Actually my theater experience, I saw

it with influencers jealous. I mean, I think that's why it affected your viewing of them. They gave us a giant care pack, I got free popcorn, I got free drinks. I just realized what it was. They didn't have your name on the care package. You were Batty Day's guest. You were pissed off the whole time. It sounds like you've cracked the code. Dude. Want to get some some spoilers here before we do that. I have it. I have it in a group of movie so it's outside

of my top nine. I would have it in a group with the Flash and Creed three, all right, I haven't seen Creed three. I enjoyed the Flash more like the Flash. I have it at number ten on the year. Yeah, I think I have it eight on the year. But you and I we're willing to forgive wonky cgi. You know it is. I actually think if we're good at anything, we're good at just saying I don't give a fuck about the rotten Tomato score in terms of like I've been

saying that all year. I know, I know, I'm saying. Well, we'll use it as a parameter in our podcast. But our personal feelings are very rarely affected by other people's thoughts on a movie. And I think the perfect example of that is thor Love and Thunder. A perfect example of that is Flash. Let's take two steps back and let's give credit once again.

To us. Yeah, credit to us, credit to us. All right, let's get into some spoilers here, Max spoiler, I ask you a question here, Yes, yes, okay, So end of the second act of the movie, when they go back to Barbie Land. First off, I like that they go back to Barbie Land. I'm in on that out of nowhere, Barbie suddenly thinks that she is ugly? Is that because Ferrera thinks that she's ugly and that has now seeped into Barbie's mind because Ferreira

has been pushing more of like the death and the suicide stuff. It was more like out of nowhere, She's like, I'm ugly, helped me out here. I think those feelings of Ferrara's, which, by the way, I thought one of the better moments of the movie. The quote unquote reveal that it was Ferrera's thoughts and feelings and not Sashes. I thought that was a nice time, right. But also, let me take a step back. Let's take how many step backs? Am I getting this? You have

fallen down the flight of stairs. You've taken so many steps back. I would have liked is broken at the bottom of the steps. If they explored the mother daughter like that story more because I thought that was the most interesting story in the movie, and they just kind of gave up on it. No, I thought they did it perfect amount. We got it, we understood it. And and that's another that's a thing too with the fifteen year old girl, Like a lot of that ship's unspoken. They just have to

have an understanding with each other. They kind of just fall into the background. I don't agree with that at all, go I thought, And these are two characters I'd never heard of, Midge and Alan. The jokes and everything surrounding that I thought is like a purfele perfect summation of like the way Gerwig handles her projects. Those are two things that if they were never brought

into this movie, this movie would still be roughly the same. But those small editions show like how she handled it with care and like she truly understands how funny that's gonna be with the Allen and Ken stuff and Midge and the Mattel ceo, like did you will fail? Goes h? Do you want the fart opera that she tried to put into this movie? So no, I don't. I would like to see that, but not in the movie. I don't want to cut with that. How are you on one of

those cake videos? I want it separate? Yes, give me the cake here. I just want to see what it would have looked like. Everyone knows used to circulate, and everyone's like, watch this video. Why I want to watch this video? Is that? Why your score we're so low? Because you wanted to see the fart cut? I wanted the farts. I wanted the fartsh good. The thing that I the thing I really didn't

like most Ryan A couple of dogs, maybe even three. Maybe that take a step back and give me credit for that, though I'm moving forward. I've got a fucking chair lift on the stairs. The inclusion of Barbie's creator, Ruth Handler in here, I get that they want to pay homage to her because she created this whole craze and everything. But Ruth Handler died in two thousand and two. Go, so they have an actor in here playing Ruth Handler living in the basement of Mattel, who was born in two thousand

and three. It was she pops up again at a later moment, and those two moments pretty much like took me out of the movie. It was jarring. I did not like it at all, and if you were remove those two from the movie, this would be I don't know much high because

thirty five is a good score. But I thought this movie would be a lot better without those two moments because ultimate Lee that doesn't actually add anything to the film, because yes, you get the monologue with Handler talking about why she created Barbie, and it could show that a girl could be an astronaut, could be this, could be that. So that's great, but you can convey that through characters that are already in the movie. You didn't need

to add her in there. That was really bothersome to me. I also thought that every actor that's in here, just like I mean, like Sarah did his thing, and he was very Michael Sarah in it. But like I just thought that they could have used the other Barbies and Ken's a little bit better. I thought that you could have replaced them all with someone else and you really wouldn't have noticed except for the fact that they aren't movie stars.

I don't really I'm not on that same level with you. Also, Will Farrell, going back to Barbie Land, there was no payoff to that. Well, he Will Farrell learned a lesson. What do you mean, I'm not even sure if we needed Will Farrell in this movie. I thought he was funny, and actually I thought that the way that he portrayed it, it felt like one of those fun Will Farrell characters. I'm like the mid two thousands. Some of the funniest things were between him and Aaron Dinkins.

But stuff was very funny that felt like more of a cartoon than what was happening in Barbie Land. I don't know, Barbie Land is pretty fucking cartoonish. They had a Scooby Doo chase in the hallway. What are you talking about? Most of the ben Most of the Kens and Barbies are non stars. You have Simul Lou and now of course Kingsley ben Adair, who we saw in Secret Invasion. The other ones are pretty much no names, and the same goes for Barbie. You had Eastern Ray, you had Kate

McKinnon. The other ones mostly people we didn't know. I want to give credit to Greta Gearwig for making or not making me, but allowing me to like Kate McKinnon again, at least for one sketch, for one scene. I thought she was great in that first scene, and then they brought her back, and I'm like, we probably could have just done with the one scene. No, I think she was fine in the second scene. Yeah,

and like four minutes of screen time's just good. The only other spoiler ish thing in here that I want to mention that you had seen as well as There's a night A little nods seemingly to the Bratstalls in here, which became very popular in the early two thousands, maybe late nineties, at the lunche table when Barbie dressed up in her girl get up, which is a

very nice image. She's talking to Sasha and her friends, and the four friends there are the four names of the Bratstalls and roughly have the same looks as the original Bratstalls. So I like that little tidbit in there, that little easter egg. Okay, what do you want in the sequel? I don't want a sequel. Well, we're gonna get a sequel, well, at least not from Robbie and Gerwig. They said they won't yep, And Mattel is like, fine, we don't have to pay you, We'll just

keep doing it. Nope, that's fine. Mattel could do what they want, and again that's why we removed credit from Mattel. I don't want more Mattel Verse movies. Yeah, let's get into Max and Max. That could be anything. It could be a boat and Mac. What do I have in the notes right here? Does it confuse you? Let me scroll down? Yes, where am I supposed shave? What do you think that means? I think that means when you have your shirt off, like at the

pool, are you supposed to have certain body parts shaved? That's not a bad guess. I'm gonna go ahead and explain this to you, so as you can tell, I am covered in shitty facial hair. You can see that I don't look good. How about me? By the way, my vacation beard. I like that. Yeah, okay, So at my home right now for a while. Yes, I'm sorry, Yes, I'm picking up what you're putting down. For a while. I was pushed from the sink into my bathtub because when I shave, I make a mess. I

think that means you don't shave enough. That could be it. I also have very sensitive skin. I can't use the cream I do as well, but my son now takes baths in the actual bathtub, So I am no longer allowed to shave in there. Do you know where I shaved last Thursday? Kitchen sink? The backyard. I brought a mirror outside and I shaved my face in the backyard. What did you do for water? Just buzzers? I just buzzed my face in the backyard. Oh oh gotcha. So

yeah, I suppose that's that's an issue. They make all sorts of men's products that help y out in the bathroom to control those shavings. Um. I for me, with the job that I have, I have to shave every two or three days, so I never are really unkept on my face. So I don't really have that issue. I think you just need to shave more often. But where where am I allowed to shave? Wow? This is this is the life of a man. I keep getting. You

know. The the suggestion to me is to shave at the gym, But no, I don't want to feel like the homeless dad from Saved by the Ballot. And then you get to bring clippers with you to the gym. I know, yeah, no, no, that's a bad suggestion. And then you know you have the other the other issue of you know, shaving, Where am I supposed to do this. You know, you can come over here if you'd like. I have in my bathroom. I'm not I'm not doing that. I have a bidet next to the toilet, so I

just shave over the bidet, clean it up afterwards. That Bideala's look a fucking stuffed animal right now. It looks like Ted after he got ripped apart and all the fluff came out. Yeah, so guys, help me out. I'm a man without a without a country. Oh boy, you gotta figure out what your job is. Where can the people find us?
