Mac, how often do you think of the Roman Empire? I? Uh, My sister texted me this about a week ago, as she saw this trend, and I said to her, almost never, like why the fuck did you ask me that I hadn't yet seen the trend? And then she sent me the TikTok and I said, actually, now that you say that, I had just had a conversation like two days before about how the Romans
fucked up the calendar, they changed the whole entire calendar. So I guess I don't think about the Romans all that often, but I bet I have conversations about the Roman Empire probably once every couple of weeks. And ask me, go, how often do you think of the Roman Empire? Now, keep in mind, I am going to Rome in about two weeks. Yep, yep, yep. Never. I don't think I've ever thought about them. You're not really a history guy. I don't think you care what happened
a week ago. Broken it's tunnel vision baby. Now that you say that, though, what are you looking forward to most in Rome? Pizza, pie, pasta, So not the Colosseum or anything like that. I've seen the Colosseum. It's nice. Oh you've already been to Rome. I have been to Rome? Why you even going? Then? We liked it there.
What I love about Rome is that every single place there is trying to undercut the place next to it. So you're walking, you're like, oh, Pasta's eight dollars over there, and you're like, oh, wait, Pasta's seven dollars over there, it's six dollars over there, five over there. Every place is just trying to swindle the next place. One good, three, yeah, just three. King of Queen Middle Street Entertainment. IM you and I'm man, and we are the Mac and Goop program. We
bring you friendship. Yeah, and today we're bringing you something that's probably pretty confusing for most of us. But wanted to do it, so here we are. The main reason why I wanted to do it is such a small part of what the episode is now. Okay, and I'm not even sure what we're calling this episode. I just haven't labeled at the bottom Hollywood mistakes. But what it really is is actors actresses that passed up on huge roles to take another one, and one might say that they made a mistake by
doing so. Okay, all right, you could call this what if, what if? What if? Dot dot dot? That's all I got. I don't have a subtitle either. So the premise here essentially is an actor in a movie miss connections, miss connections, miss connections, out lowered expectations, and then they take something else, And of course we'll have you know what they passed that movie on for the other what their reason are for not
taking said movie. We have four tiers, four said actors and actresses to be put into, and that is at the top code read I've made a huge mistake, Joe voice. So those are the worst Yes, the worst tier, Yes, yeah, recounting down or recounting will be will be ranking the decision of the actor, not the movie. Correct the actor's decision, yes, unless it falls into this next category, which is win win, which is I guess they made a good decision, but the movie was.
That's gonna be confusing. Let me explain myself real quick. That is, the actor passed on this movie took on another successful movie, and the movie that the actor passed on got someone that fit the role better. Okay, all right, so win win win win. Is that what I'm saying over here? Right? The next one off here just straight up movie was better off. So the movie was better off. But also the actor doesn't look like an idiot. Yes, okay, yes, thank you for explaining that,
because I didn't know what else to say. So that's good. And then finally for the actor, good for them. It was good that they didn't take this role. They had a good reason. So the movie sucked and the actor made a good decision. Maybe the movie was great, maybe the movie made a ton of money, but the actor said, here are my reasons, and you can respect their reasons for doing it, all right, And how many actors in decisions do we roughly have here? One hundred
and sixty seven. All right, let's rip, let's rip through this. And of course this tear was made by the tear maker himself, the other Billy D a tear master much like the page master McAuley culkin. And also got to thank Men's Health. And I can't think of the other website that Billy D helped pull from. It might have been Slate. I thought you were just announcing a sponsor here for the program. Hey, if Men's Health
wants to hop on, I'm all for it. Alright, all right, let's get started here with the first on the list, and that is Jack Nicholson passing Michael Corleone in The Godfather and his reason. He told Movieline in twenty zero four that the role should go to an Italian. This to me, now, this is a clear Jack Nicholson bias in my part, win win, because Jack Nicholson went on to make several other great movies. Yeah, so like, obviously being in the Godfather would have helped him out.
But it's not like he struggled to get roles after this, so maybe it's movie was better off. I don't think he would have added to this movie. You know what movie might have been better off? You're right, I have a hard time envisioning that Jack Nicholson would have made The Godfather better. I passed on The Godfather. That's such a good Jack Nicholson. You guys probably thought he was here. Now I'm trying to think, like Goodfellas,
they deal with the whole Irish Italian thing too. But Jack Nicholson would have been playing in Italian, yes, exactly, been playing an Irish guy. So yeah, let's go with the movie was better off? Actually, I like that, asked the gab A ghoul. Mike Nicholson is fucking terrible. Yeah, it's not great, So that's a good one. Also, just a reminder of how we do tears. We get three vetos and two stamps. Yeah. The next one up here is John Travolta passing on Forrest Gump.
He was offered the role but turned it down to make pulp fiction. This is a win win. That's a classic win win right there. I don't think he would have been good in that role, but he was great in pulp fiction, so he gets the win win. Hey, life is like a box of chocolates. Never know what you're gonna get. This is gonna be a full impression episode. I'm so excited about this. I am so excited about I would like to know who who offered him the role of
Forrest Gump. There had to have been a conversation where like, no, no, come on, we can't do this, and some guy was like, no, John Travolta is Forrest cup. He's Danny Zuko as Forrest Gump, Jo for Scump, Rocket a tea birds Jacket. Next one up here is Will Smith passing up Neo in the Matrix. He explained he turned down the role because and he was not proud of the decision, but the movie seemed too confusing in lack luster. He went on to make Wild wild West
instead. I've made a huge mistake. H Yeah, as much as I love Keyatu in that role, I'm very intrigued as to what that movie would look like with Will Smith. So yeah, that's gonna be any huge mistakes. And like, obviously Keanu is like if you could look at it as a possible win win, But Will Smith did not go on to make a win. Obviously, several years down the line he did, but Wild Wild
West was a poor choice. Yeah, really bad choice. And again that role is iconic for Keyadu, but it's not like any acting decision he made in that role was iconic. So maybe it could have been elevated even more. But you know what we were robbed of, And this was during the time where Will Smith made a rap song for all of his movies. We were robbed of a matrix raps matrix Will Smith featuring Lawrence Fishburn. This next one, that pair is Robin Williams passing up Jack Torrence in The Shining.
Reportedly, director Stanley Kubrick that was his top choice so this is interesting as a non Jack Nicholson guy. I don't know if anyone could do that better than Jack Nicholson. Yeah, but if someone could have, it might be Robin Williams. Yeah, and that was before Williams tapped into that crazy on screen character that we saw more throughout the nineties. Yeah, still more of a marque at this point. That's one of my favorite movies of all time,
one of the best performances of all times. I don't know if Robin Williams regrets. I don't know if we have a proper tier for this. Yeah. That's because I don't know if that's a win win. Well, maybe it is, because I put it the way his trajectory would have changed. If he was in that horror movie, he would have played much more different roles going for he would have played more Nicholson roles. He also, so if he did this role, he might have been the Joker and Batman.
Oh shit, that would have been pretty cool. Yeah, so keep the Joker would have been pretty cool. I guess I got my characters, Okay. Leonardo DiCaprio turned down Broke Back Mountain. He was not the only person to pass on the role Brad Pitt and Matt Damon did as well. This is an interesting one because Heath Ledger and Jake Jillen Hall absolutely demolished those two roles, and I think they were both like B list actors at the time. I think they were fringe A list, but they weren't, so
they were a list, but they weren't movie stars. They weren't megastars as opposed to DiCaprio, Damon and Pitt, which I think would have overshadows the perfect role. And I think Jillen Hall and Ledger we're perfectly cast for that because they were known but not megastars. So I would say movie movie was better off absolutely on that one. Next one up here is John Liftgau as the Joker, with Liftgou telling Conan O'Brien in twenty nineteen he thought, at
the time, who is gonna want to watch a movie about Batman? I don't like Jack Nicholson as the Joker, However, I think John Liftgou would have been a terrible Joker. Movie was better off. Well, the movie was better off, but also I've made a huge mistake because he would have been a movie star after this. Yeah, but I don't know if he would have, because I don't think it would have been good. Movie was better off. You're right, Burt Reynolds as James Bond in Live and Let
Die. I don't think Burt Reynolds can do a British accent. Number one, everyone loves Burt Reynolds. I don't actually think Burt Reynolds is that good of an actor. Maybe that's just me. Maybe I'll get killed for that, but I don't think he could do a British accent. And so if you have a James Bond with a shitty British accent or doing an A or having an American accent, I think that would have sucked. Doing a Burt
Reynolds accent. I think this is a win win. Burt Reynolds looks better in the long run, and James Bond doesn't get you know, shot, because I might lean more towards movie was better Off. But I could see either of those being the right way. Yeah, that could work too. Yeah. Then we go to Christina Applegate as l Woods and legally blonde, and it's more just about her not wanting to repeat herself. And you know what if the movie was stupid that you know what if that happened. That's
gotta be I've made a Hughes mistake. That's an iconic role, it always will be. But also Greasy recy is great in it. Yeah, I mean that's that was like a career making role for Reese Witherspoon. I mean, she was in other stuff before, but that showed you she could be a megastar and launched her into a different level. And Applegate's fine without that, but she definitely could have done that as well. Like if you imagine Kelly Bundy going to Harvard, it's similar to that. Sean Connery passed up
on Gandolf and Lord of the Rings. He turned down the role saying he did not understand the scripts. And because of this, he reportedly missed out on four hundred and fifty million dollars. So he's made a huge mistake, number one, because that's a lot of money and those movies were great. But do you think he would have made a good Gandoff? Not as good as what we got. And also the movie that he did was a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and then after that he just retired. I would say
movie was better off that he did not take this role. But I would also say that four hundred and fifty million dollars is a lot financially, Yes, but the movie so yeah, that's that's right in the middle there. He clearly should have taken the role based on how well the movies did, but the movies wouldn't have been as good. This is sort of a circular argument here. Is there a category called win lose? I'm good with either
I've made a huge mistake or a better off. I would say I've made a huge mistake, all right, I'll accept that, like he made the big mistake. Obviously the movie was better off. But that's fair that Yeah, it's a lot of money. That's that is very true. I'm sure his family is thrilled. I mean, this the third one one best picture. So he turned down an opportunity to be in a movie that won an Oscar Alpaccino turned down Hans Solo in the Star Wars series, saying, I
was in The Godfather. They didn't care if I was right or wrong for a role. They would just offer it to me because of who I was. You know what, It's almost a good for them because he made the right decision, because he would not have fitten this role, but the movie was way better off not having him, So call it as you see it, because Alpacino also didn't need Star Wars. Yes, correct, and he's absolutely right about getting off every role after The Godfathers. So credit to him.
That's a win for him and a win for us as the fans. Matt Damon turned down Harvey Dent in The Dark Night and said, every now and then, I think about it. Every now and then you get one and you just can't do what. I believe he had scheduling issues, and he said that Aaron also did a great job in the role. Aaron, Aaron Eckhart was great as Harvey Dent. Matt Damon would have been great as Harvey Dent. I'm a little afraid it's sort of what we talked about before.
Matt Damon almost overshadows the rest of the cast in that movie. If he's cast in that movie, Aaron Eckhart is the perfect level of actor for that role. I don't know if it's a win for Damon though, Yeah, because he went on to do a bunch of those smaller movies that didn't necessarily crush it. He's had some real misses in the last fifteen years.
As much as I like him, I don't know if the movie was better off either, because I think he can at least replicate what Eckhart gave us as good as Eckhart was, So maybe maybe he made a huge mistake there. I don't think it was a huge mistake though, Also, what do you make at the time it was a scheduling issue. Uh No, it's definitely not good for him, though, I don't think better off. Do you think the movie was better off? Yeah? I think so a little
bit, A little bit. A cart's great in that, okay, all right, movie was better off. Harrison Ford turned down Alan Grant in Jurassic Park for reasons undisclosed. He made a huge mistake, huge mistake. I don't know. Do you think he wanted to be in another franchise where fans would bother him. I think he's pretty happy with what he did. On a personal level, he's probably happy. But if you're gonna use the Connery agrement here, he missed out on a ship ton of money and he had
another iconic role. You want me to come back for another Jurassic Park movie, And I think that would have been especially funny to watch like him not wanting to be there in that role, he would have been like even more of a cunt. I think the movie was better off for like the stars of the movie was Newman. I bet you thought I was gonna say the dinosaurs. I don't think the movie was better off for this the movie obviously.
I think the movie actually is better off for it. I think the movie is better off for like the dinosaurs of the spectacle, Harrison Ford would have been the spectacle. I think Harrison probably would have hated acting against those sort of dinosaur animatronics or greens. But there were puppets at the time, there were puppets. He's maybe over that. He's always been a big fan
of puppets. He's always said he loves puppet shows. Because of his poor attitude, I'll agree with you the movie was better off my assuming that he's gonna have a poor attitude because he fucking he crushed the nineties. He did a bunch of movies that he wanted to do. No, that's true, that's true. I agree with you on that one. Johnny Depp turned down Ferris. Maybe that's a win win hold on that might be a win win then, okay, fine, win, win, all right, win win,
Billy for Harrison. Billy. Looks like you didn't put the Johnny Depp one on here, Billy, But I'll just mention it and we'll move on. Johnny Depp turning down Ferris Bueller and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. That's all right, whatever movie was much better off not having Johnny Depp in there, just my opinion. How about Emily Blunt turning down Black Widow and Iron Man two based on her comments about comic book movies. That's more recent though,
well, at the time it was scheduling. I'm sure she felt that way back then too. That had to have played a part in the decision making there. So I'll say, I don't know what she went on to make. I do love Emily Blunt, but this is a win win because she still went on to make good movies and we got scarred Joe because of his Magnum PI contract. Tom Selleck had to turn down Indiana Jones. I've made a huge mistake. Yeah, he made a huge mistake there for sure.
Then he had to go play in a season of Friends. He was great in that role, though, what was his name I'm blanking right now. I don't know. This is gonna be one of the answers at our trivia at Idle Hands. By the way, tom Selik's mustache Selex mustache, the episode where Chandler grows a mustache to be more like him. Nicholas Cage turning down Aragorn in Lord of the Rings. He doesn't regret the move, but he does wish circumstances would have allowed him to take the role. So this
has gotta be so. Cage's two thousands were so up and down. He has like the National Treasure movies and whatnot, but he also has ghost Rider and uh, what's the what's the not the Bees role? Two of the worst roles of all times, So it can't will win for him Wickerman, That's what it was. The movie was definitely better off. I don't think he would have added to a Lord of the Rings movie. The two thousands led to him being in one hundred and fifty movies in the twenty tents.
This might have relieved some of that stress. The movie was better off, but it was. Yeah, because it's not a win for Nicolas Cage, I don't think. But it also might be a huge mistake. He even says it. He's like, I didn't get the script, but I wish I did it. Yeah, but he so we're going off based He clearly thinks that it was a mistake, but I don't think it was a mistake for him. But I also think, like the two thousands, as bad as he was and some well matter that the movies were, it leads to
and it plays into how iconic he's become. Imagine a Lord of the Rings with Sean Connery and Nicolas Cage, like going back a Rock reunion. Going back and watching bad Nicholas Cage movies now is almost a pleasure because they're so bad. Ian McKellen turned down Dumbledore in the Harry Potter series. I think it was where take over a part from an actor. So I think it was to take over the part after the first fella died. Yes, yeah, something to Harris, yes, I think. And he didn't want to
do that. That was the whole thing originally. Yes, he made a huge mistake there, because what has he done other than X Men since then Lord of the Rings. He was already in Lord of the Rings. He did more Lord of the Rings. I think he made a huge mistake. Okay, all right, Mac, I want to staple that there do we staples our that's our third thing. Now ever gets one staple and I got one of those staple clamps. I can take that right out those a little
clause. I have an endless one because you can use that a million times. Yeah, it just ruins the paper, that's all. You don't have to really. Yeah, the great point whoever made that never considered the quality of the paper that you'd be removing a staple from, because it just fucking smashes the paper. Either that or we don't know how to use those things
correctly. Molly Ringwall turned down Vivian Ward in Pretty Woman. She said this in an AMA twenty twelve, revealed that she was approached for the lead role in Pretty Woman makes sense. She was still a huge star at the time. She reviewed the scripts and didn't share why she did not pursue the role. She's made a huge mistake because after that go Molly Ringwald did do anything.
She didn't do anything. She was the mom in time. I also would have liked to see Molly Ringwald done up the way they did Julia Roberts, but that was a star making star making role, absolute star making role. Henry Winkler turned down Danny Zuko in Greece. My assumption here, and there's a lot of words here, but I think it's pretty much just boiled down to typecasting. He didn't want to just being Italian every single time. He didn't want to be an Italian in a leather jack. He didn't want
to be an Italian street tough every every movie. Guys, come on, take it easy on. That would have been a tough one to buy. To see him going from Fonzi to Danny Zuko. It's a similar character. I guess. First of all, can Henry Winkler sing? I was asking to ask you, can you check your database? I know that you have a database of actors that can also sing. Can Henry Winkler sing? To me? This was a win win? Yes, this is it. This
is a win win. Granted, obviously being a part of an iconic movie would have been something, but he still has Fonzie, and he had that amazing comeback. He had his Golden Globe, he had his Emmy. So we're all set. He's all set. Tom Cruise as Wren McCormick in Footloose reportedly he turned down the role because of scheduling and conflict with all the right moves. Great reference to this in uh, what did we just the flashed? That's right, they referenced this eighties potential swaps here. I would be
intrigued. And we've talked about this more recently to Tom Cruile's Cruise and the more Tom cruils Tom. I can't speak today in the less like serious roles. I mean footloose is like oddly like serious, but a little more comedic. I think Kevin Bacon crushes this role. I don't I don't know how to. I don't know how tossess this one. I'd say win win. I mean obviously, I think that this could have added to Cruise's resume,
and he didn't become Is this before or after Risky Business? It might be right after Risky Business, so he was already a star, not a big deal. Charlie Huntum as Christian Gray in the Fifty Shades of Gray movie. He did a couple of table reads, but he had to leave and he felt awful about it. That was a massive fan casting too. I remember when they were casting that movie because the book series obviously exploded and so many people. Of course, he's coming off Sons of Aaronaki, one of the
more famous television actors at the time. Everyone wanted him to play Christian Gray. They cast him as Christian Gray originally. I don't know if he regrets it, because those movies don't even get talked about anymore as big as the book series. They made a lot of money, But I also think that if he took on this role it might have done better critically at least. He also hasn't done much since Sons, so he probably regrets not taking that role. Mistake, made a huge mistake. Okay, I've made a huge
mistake. Bett Midler as Dolores van Kartier and directs. That's Whoopie Goldberg's character. Oh boy, movie was much better off, much better off. I don't do you think she regrets that she turned on the role, telling Metro in twenty ten that her fans didn't want to see her in a wimple? Is that a non outfit? I'm not sure, as we were both raised Catholic and we might should maybe should know that. I have no idea. I have no idea what a whimple is. Emma Watson turned down Maya Dolan
in La La Land because of scheduling conflicts with Beauty and the Beast. Oh, so they got the other Emma. Oh she got getting the Beast though, which was decent, So that's a win win probably. I feel like La La Land would have done better for her reputation wise. Maybe that's true, but it wasn't a huge mistake. Yeah, and I don't like La La Land, so I don't blame her for that, although it did get nominated for a billion Awards, so I would say it's a win win.
Matthew McConaughey passing up on Jack Dawson in Titanic, he said that he auditioned with Kate Winslets, had a good audition, walked away from it feeling pretty confident that he had it and didn't get it. So he never was actually offered it, but he was close. Yeah. I was gonna say, I don't know how they would have offered him over DiCaprio because DiCaprio is so perfect for that role, because what McConaughey doesn't have is that boyish charm that
DiCaprio brought to the role. So I know, this almost seems like he auditioned for the role, but was never really in the running. Yeah, the movie was for sure better off. Gwyneth Paltrow as Rose Dawson in Titanic. Gwyneth Paltrow almost started in Titanic, reportedly turned down the role as Rose, but she says, you look at the big pictures and think there's a universal lesson here. It seems like she thinks she made a big mistake.
She doesn't want to admit to it. Was this coming off Shakespeare in Love as well? Was that the year or two before? It was around that time Shakespeare in Love was ninety six. I think her ninety five and Titanks what ninety seven? Yes, so she was probably like the the the it girl at the time them from the role. Yeah, I feel like she thinks she made a huge mistake, and I don't necessarily disagree. Hugh Jackman
turned down James Bond in Casino Royale. He said in twenty seventeen that it would have or he was offered to join just before filming of X two, and he said he was worried between Bond and X men he would never be able to do different things. Well, fresh of all, those are two very different things. So I don't know what he's saying, Like he would just be stuck to those two franchises. I mean, he's stuck to X
Men anyway. So I don't know really what he's talking about. He's saying he wants to be a song and dance man, and if he's in Bond and he's an Xmen, he can't do that. I don't know how I feel about this, Daniel Craig, about the biggest Daniel Craig Bond guy, I don't. I don't know how Jackman would have done in the role. I don't how do you see this? Well, if he did Bond, we never would have got the greatest showman. Have you seen them? No,
it's pretty good. A couple of great songs in there. You're you're big Zendaya guy. Though. Yeah, I don't think it was a huge mistake. I think that he's done pretty well for himself. He has done pretty well for He's pretty tall. He would have been a nice tall Bond, that's true. Is it a win win because a lot of people do like the Craig Yeah, win win for me, all right. Bruce Willis turned down Sam Wheat and Ghost saying that he was a knucklehead for turning it
down. I just didn't get it, he said. I said, Hey, the guy's a ghost. How are you going to have a romance? Famous last words, I'm a real bird brain from turning that down. Swayzy in that role as iconic. Movie was better off for sure. Liam Neeson turned down Abraham Lincoln and Lincoln and saying, I thought, I'm not even supposed to be here. I don't want to play I can't be here. I'm not even supposed to be here. Zero percent chance that they offered him
this role over Daniel day lewis right. He was at table reads and he's like, I have no passion for this. I don't want to do this. That is interesting, this is an extraordinary piece of writing. But I had no connection with it whatsoever. I don't know if he made a huge mistake, though, based on what he's saying, it feels like he doesn't regret it at all. Yeah, that's a win win. The movie was
better off movie. Okay, fine, I those the same things. No. Mel Gibson turned down General Maximus Decimus Metadius and Gladiator Really is He turned down Russell Crowe's character Russell Crowe, who did you say this was again Mel Gibson, and he said, because he's too old or he was too Yeah, he probably would have been pretty fucking good in that role. Actually, Russell Crowe is also pretty good in that role too. He probably went on to make what women want, so so for me, no, he made
he is mistake there, excuse mistake. Tom Hanks as Jerry McGuire in Jerry McGuire. The role of Jerry McGuire was literally written for Tom Hanks, but Hanks turned down the film after reading the script, even though the entire production was banking on him for the movie. Winwyn. Uh. When you think about the charm that that role has, Tom Cruise does it well, but you could see how that was written for Hanks. I don't think. Yeah,
I guess, Winwyn. I think at the time Cruis had more boyish charm for sure, But yeah, all right, fine, Winwyin Jim Carrey as Buddy the Elf. The script for Elf was first written in nineteen ninety three, and carry was reportedly ready to play the role of Buddy, but it did not come out for another decade and he was hesitant to book the role after playing The Grinch. Thank god, we did not get that because after seeing Will Ferrell as that character, Buddy the Elf, you could never
envision anyone else ever playing that character, especially not Jim Carrey. Jim Carrey's Elf would have been more seedy, right, a little more damised. Somebody stop me movie? Much better off for this Buddy Santa's coming later, Ricky, Really, I'm back, Maybe impressions go. Amelia Clark turned down Anastasia Steel in Fifty Shades of Gray, saying that she did not want to do the required nudity because of the nude scenes that she had done in Game of
Thrones. This is a tough one too. I don't think she really regrets it, because again, no one even talks about these movies anymore. I really, I think Dakota Johnson is one of the worst actresses on the plot. Yeah, I think once again, the movie would have been better with Clark and hunt him. Yea. But good for her, she didn't want to do it. Yeah, good for her, Good for her, Good
for her. Brad Pitt as Jason Bourne in the Born series. Pitt was originally booked to play the role of Born, but left the film series due to a scheduling conflicts. I don't think Brad Pitt has any regrets in life, so I don't think he will ever think he's made a huge mistake having said that, he would have been fucking awesome in this role. Yeah, but no, Damon, Damon's great. I love Brad Pitt. You I don't like If you told me he was the best actor on the planet,
I wouldn't disagree. I don't know if he could do a better job than what Damon did in the role. Though, Sandra Bullock turned down the role of Neo in The mat We gotta rake that, dude, Oh what did I do? Tear it? We didn't. We didn't say anything. No win win win? When sure, Mac, did you know that Sandra Bullock turned down the role of Neo in The Matrix. Neo was almost turned into a female role and a script was sent to Bullock, but after those tweaks
of the role, ultimately she turned earned it down. Movie was better off? Better off? By the way, is Brad Pitt and Troy one of the coolest characters ever. Brad Pitt badass and once upon a time in Hollywood. Yeah, outside of murdering his wife, I'll put my foot down.
You shouldn't do that could have been an accident. Well, the movie left it up as like, well, maybe he didn't, but he probably did, implies it's likely that he did, but it didn't make it definitive, and then Quentin Tarantino wrote a book He's like, yeah, he did. Jennifer Lawrence turned down bella Swan in Twilight and said that she had no idea Twilight would be such a big deal. Good for her because she would have been stuck playing that unserious sort of role. I mean, Christen Stewart,
She's fine. I don't mind Kristen Stewart, but she ended up going on to make The Hunger Games instead, and that was a massive win for her, so I would say good for good for them. Michael Keaton turned down the role of Phil Connors in Groundhog Day. Of course, the role went to Bill Murray, but Keaton told Entertainment Weekly in twenty fourteen he said he didn't get the allure of the film or the character. This guy sounds like kind of a rye, sardonic, glib young man that I've played, and
it ended up being played by the great Bill Murray. So you couldn't have done it better than what Bill did. He's probably right about that, But I think he could have replicated what Bill Murray gave us. It would have been pretty good. I love comedic Keaton. Yeah, no, I agree with you. I agree with you on that. The like that's a tough one. I think he made a huge mistake. You might be right. He might be right. That's a fucking great movie. He would have been
awesome in that. He would have been awesome in it. He would have been great. I agree there. Then Multiplicity rocks because there's so many Keaton's, it's all Keytons. Give me all the Keatons. If you can give me a Keaton multiverse movie of just all the Keaton characters, Yeah, you get the four Multiplicity boy, and then you get Ray Kroc the next one. Up Here is the reason why I wanted to do the podcast, this specific topic, and it had nothing to do with the rest of everything on
here. Yea. And that is Eminem's turning down ET saying that we did not want our Eminem candies in your movies because we don't want to be associated with aliens. Do you think, like, how many hours after the premiere do you think that they regretted this and not only that think of how Rezy Pieces stepped forward, took this role and became just an iconic candy because of this movie. Yeah, they made a massive mistake. Also, let me point this out, Eminem's is owned by the Mars Company, and Mars did
not want to be associated with Aliens. Also, good work by Billy putting that as number one, number one mistake. This was the reason why I wanted to do the podcast. I guess it's over now. Yeah, that's it, all right. Claire Danes turned down the role of Rose Dewitz in Titanic. He hear me out of this one. Yeah, bear with me. The scene in the car would have been much less inspired if it was Claire Danes's nipple. I will let everyone else interpret that as they will.
The movie was better. Sarah Michelle Gellar turned down the role of Claire Horowitz and Clueless Scheduling because she was on a soap opera at the time. All my children that she really want out on that one. So I'm gonna say, good for them, good for them, or I mean that's kind of a I mean, she obviously went on to become Buffy, but yeah, that's a that was she she got Buffy and still and I know what she did last summer, and I know she eventually became the it girl, But
this movie made Alicia Silverstone the yet girl. Essen No, like she got Batman forever out of it. Oh my god, Batman would have been first off Home and Robin. Imagine if you swapped this out where now she's gonna be bat girl and she is in back to the Past with Brendan Frasier. Frazier. Sorry, I don't think she thinks she made a mistake there. Okay, well, I'm gonna go win win good for them. How about
win win, because Alicia Silverstone's great in that movie. Win. Yep, you're right, winwy Vigo Mortenston whatever it is, turned down the role of Wolverine in the X Men franchise because he did not want to be committing to a series of movies. And then he took Lord of the Rings, so that was really confusing. That's a win win. He got Lord of the Rings, we got Hugh Jackman. Michelle Peiffer turned down the role of Clarice Starling and she said that I was trepidacious. There was so much evil in
that film. It was that evil one in the end, and at the end of the film, Evil ruled out and I was uncomfortable with that ending as much as I love pfif first and maybe I would have been the one throwing the come. I'm glad that Jodie Foster got that role. Julia Roberts turned down the role of Annie Reid and Sleepless in Seattle, And before I do anything else, because this is a giant paragraph that I'm not going to read, I've never seen this movie. Meg Ryan is perfect in that role.
I think Julia Roberts doesn't bring the same thing that Meg Ryan does. So movie was better off. Movie was better off. And finally, the final actress to turn down a movie role, and that is Amanda Seafreed, who turned down the role of Gomorrah and Guardians of the Galaxy, saying, I didn't want to be part of the first Marvel movie that bombed. Who wants to see a movie about a talking tree in Raccoon, which is clearly
wrong. I was very wrong. Clearly she made a huge mistake. Also, her of the wide eye would have fit the Gomrah character very well. You know what, she would have been great as Mantis. She would have been a good mantis as well. Yeah, that's that's a massive regret on her part for sure, and she kind of admitted it there. She's like, yeah, I was kind of stupid at the time. I should fucked
up. All right, Mac, do you see anything on the board, because I'm pretty happy with how we've teared these that you would like to move, staple, stamp, remove, delete from existence. I'd like the three hole punch, the whole thing. No, I'm good with everything. Yeah, I'm pretty good. So Mac, how about you just quickly read off if you can see the screen? Yeah, I'm I'm further away. It's so much tougher. I can't see anything, Okay, so I will do
my best with what I can see. Why don't we just screenshot it and tweet it out instead. We are going to do that, but let me do I've made a huge mistake. I think I can read these. If Billy can scroll in a little bit further, that'd be great. But et Eminem's turning down et Mars Candy not wanting to be associated with Aliens, Will Smith turning down Neo, Christina Applegate turning down l Wood from not stealing Harvard.
That's a different movie. That's the best. And Tom Green movie, Sean Connery turning down four hundred and fifty million dollars, Lord of the Rings money, Tom Selleck, Magnum p I Contract over Indiana Jones. The next one, I just flat cancy, so I'm just gonna skip it. Molly is Ian McKellen as Dumbledore. There we go Molly Ringwall turning down, Pretty Woman, Charlie Harnum, Charlie, Charlie Harnum, Charlie Hunnam, fifty shades
of Gray. Then we have Gwyneth Paltrow for Titanic, Mel Gibson for Gladiator, Michael Keaton turning down. I was about to say, what about Bob. I'm all over the place with these movies right now, groundhog Day, and then finally Amanda Sea Freed turning down Gomorrah. Yeah. By the way, the photo of Julia Robertson this absolutely electric smile there. That's how she made her money. It's the smile. There was a point on this earth that she was the hottest female walking it. It was the part and pretty
Woman. I'm just gonna take this down. It's too much of our screen. It was the Part and Pretty Woman. When Richard gere clamped down the box and she gave that laugh, and you're like, you know what, America's sweetheart and and right there, So go on Twitter, tell us what you think our biggest mistake is from this episode. Let's get into Max and maxa could be anything. It could be a boat. Mac. We are through six episodes of AHSKA. How you doing so the most recent episode spoiler
alert here. If you haven't seen episode six, just skipped to the end of the podcast, or stop listening. We got Thrown and Ezra finally in the latest episode, and it was super cool to see them live on live action for the first time. It's pretty clear to me right now that the end of this season is going to be like a cliffhanger. You know, they sort of discussed this, how Feloni's movie is going to tie up the story from this in Mandalorian in the movie it's setting up. However, I
think for an exciting last couple episodes. We have a Soca on the way that other universe that they're in with the whales we have we don't know. They haven't revealed anything about Ezra yet, what like if he's still been wielding the Force or whatnot. But Ezra is a pretty powerful force user. We also find out Ezra, I mean Thron has been working with the Night Sisters,
so he has some some magic to play with there. And I thought one of the coolest parts of the episode was seeing Thron's Stormtroopers and how they're like beaten and battered, and it almost looks like there's a possibility where all of these Stormtroopers had died and they've been reanimated by the Night Sisters. I
think that's in play as well. I know. It's just everything looks really cool right now, but we need some stuff to happen in the final couple episodes because the last two haven't been a whole lot of happening story wise. Obviously we've got the cool Ahsoka Anakin stuff at episode five, but not much has happened story wise these last two episodes. So two things here, maybe three. Number one, I love those little tortoise fellas, Yeah, teenage
alien Ninja turtles. I like those a lot. This show looks awesome. It does. It looks especially the last like three episodes, it has just looked amazing. But I feel like I'm missing something still. I wish someone told me before this show started to watch the other two shows leading into it, No, no doubt about it. If you'd never watched Clone Wars or
Rebels, there's a piece of this emotionally that you're just not getting. Like that scene in the in the in the last episode with Ezra and Sabine reuniting lost awesome. Yeah, lost on me, ye lost on someone that did not watch Rebels. I am emotionally disconnected from so much of this. Yeah, I believe that, and I totally understand that. But also thrown walking through all those Stormtroopers looked fucking cool. It was great Episode five, That
whole Clone Wars thing looked fucking cool. Now, do you have a level of regret? Have you made a huge mistake by not watching Clone Wars and Rebels? Mistakes in my life? I don't think I would put it that high stars like viewing media, viewing media and podcast preparation, or you know, trying to enjoy something. I guess minorly, I guess a little bit. All right, I feel like you've made a huge mistake, Like, hey, time is of the essence, my man, I don't really have
that much of it. You watch a lot of dumb shit it's me sitting at home at night being like I might I'm gonna fall asleep in a house four and I know this in my head, and I'm like, I could either start this or I could watch a fifteen minute video on YouTube about some garbage and I do that instead. I just realized I've made a huge mistake. We forgot the big one. Matt Damon and Avatar. Oh fuck, that should be number one. Oh good for him? He turned Do you know how much money he turned
down for Matt Damon? He turned down back and they offered him back and that damn, Billy, do you have the amount of money that he turned down? Believe it was ten of these. It was ten percent of Avatar. Then would be all the money in the world. And I'm telling you right now, he does not regret it. Wow, that is such a we are so dumb. That was the number one. Now ten percent of Avatar. Man, Like Matt, I'm telling you right now, sitting here
today, Matt Damon is stoked. He's not shooting seven fucking sequels with James Cameron. He spoke about this. He said, I've made a huge mistake. No, nope, didn't say that he did.
