Episode description

Welcome to Lunacy; where we discern the sacred from the insane and admit that whether we like it or not, we are all profoundly affected by the cycles of the moon.

On today’s episode, we go LIVE for Nisenan Heritage Day, 2023!  I'm profoundly honored to have been invited to interview Shelly Covert, Spokesperson for the Nisenan Tribe in Nevada City, CA and Tribal Lawyer, Frank Lawrence.  We had an in depth conversation on what needs to transform in order to reconcile the past and create a new future that we can all be proud of.  We talked in depth with Frank Lawrence on the legal history of the Nisenan Tribe and the way forward in their plight to reestablish Federal Recognition.

For more information and to get involved with the Nisenan Tribe, please visit www.nisenan.org.  Also mentioned in the episode is an incredible retelling of the Disney Film Pocahontas with an audio track that tells the true story of what actually happened to Pocahontas titled by her actual name, Matoaka.  That can be found at https://www.missingmatoaka.ca/
