Today on LOTW, Becky and Bevy discuss the family massacre of 1929. The sun dipped below the horizon on Christmas Eve 1929, casting long shadows across the fields of Germanton, North Carolina. The Lawson family farmhouse, usually filled with the warmth of holiday anticipation, stood quietly. Charles Lawson, a hardworking sharecropper, had recently taken his family to town for a rare treat: new clothes and a family portrait, capturing a moment of unity and festivity.

Inside the home, Fannie, Charles's wife, arranged presents under the tree, while the children's laughter echoed through the halls. Arthur, the eldest son, was busy with last-minute chores, his thoughts drifting to the joy the morning would bring.

As the family settled in for the night, the peaceful scene masked the underlying tension. Unbeknownst to the outside world, a darkness was brewing within the Lawson household, one that would soon shatter the holiday cheer and leave an indelible mark on the community.

This Christmas, the Lawson family would be remembered not for the warmth of their hearth, but for the chilling events that would unfold, forever altering the lives of those left behind.
