- Hey y'all. This is the part where I usually go. You're listening to Loving BDSM podcast episode, some number here. Uh, and I'm Kayla Lords. And then I say something like witty and funny about John Brownstone and yay. And then we start an episode and we're chaotic. Uh, if you can't tell, it's just me right now. And if you actually got a chance to look at your podcast app, you would've seen. This is not a typical episode because it's not like an hour and a half long.
Um, we are not doing an episode this week, , if you haven't already figured it out. Uh, JB got sick this week and has not been able to do anything. He's basically just slept through the week as best he could and taken a lot of day quil and cough medicine and all kinds of stuff. He is absolutely, uh, recovering and getting better. Uh, at least as of recording this, uh, late Thursday night, um, there's a chance we may do our Friday night live stream.
The day you get to hear this little short commercial, like, let's not call it an episode, this thing I'm doing here on my own. Um, but that is something that we won't really know if we can do until sometime on Friday. So, the reason I'm here, even though we are not here, and there's no episode this week, nor will there be an episode on Monday either, which sucks, um, is because we are doing a thing that we do every year. And normally we get to talk about it on the podcast when we start doing it.
And with JB being sick, we couldn't do that, but I wanted to make sure that I got you the information. Um, and that is our annual Patreon membership drive. Uh, we do this every year because, you know, we like to encourage folks to join our kinky community or stay around in it if they're already there. Uh, and this year's no different. Um, it's one of those things.
Patreon is a thing that, um, the support of that part of our community keeps our lights on, keeps the cameras rolling, allows us to put out a lot of content, um, and hopefully educate and inform at no charge to folks. Um, and it, yeah, Patreon is like, what makes that possible? So we like to do a membership drive every year, make it kind of special, entice some people who maybe have thought about it but weren't sure.
Um, you can join for as little as $2 a month you can join for hire, but minimum to get in the door, $2 a month. What you get for that is you get, uh, access to our Discord server. Super cool, super nice sters. And the way we run our Discord server, it's not a meetup hookup like dating thing. We, we don't do that . It's a, Hey, come be kind of your full self. So we absolutely have channels that are devoted to kink.
Um, but we also have channels that are for, if you're a crafter, you can share what you're working on if you have pets and wanna share pictures if you are a gamer, if you're a reader, if you are, oh, all kinds of stuff. Like we just, we have tons of channels that are for all the other parts of your life as well.
And just for the record, when I say we don't do the dating hookup thing through our community, that doesn't mean people have not met there and then gotten into relationships, but they did it in the way that is kind of our preference and the, the way we recommend for, for most people, they became friends first and got to know one another as people and then a relationship formed. So, um, just wanted to let you know that's what the Discord server is like.
The other thing you get for as little as $2 a month is access to an exclusive video. It is about kink, but it's not like educational how to, here's how these things work. We keep that free, but it's usually fun stuff. So last year we started doing these videos and a lot of them were us taking online BDSM quizzes and, uh, me ranting about how awful many of them were . Um, but we've also played smash or pass, uh, and, and indulged in our geeky side. So we did one on Dr. Who characters.
We did one on Star Trek, the Next Generation Characters. We did a random one that was just a mashup of all kinds. We'll probably do more this year. Um, we have done a reaction video to a, um, BDSM show. We did that once. It was exhausting because I'd never edited a video like that before. We haven't done another one since, but that doesn't mean we won't. So those are what the videos are like.
We do a monthly behind the scenes podcast episode, um, where we talk about what we're doing professionally, like what's going on with the kry, what's going on with living BDSM, but we also talk about what's going on with us. Stuff that we don't really talk about publicly. Like you might hear a little bit more about, um, our family life or you'll hear a little bit more about some of the stuff we're going through. But we do also talk about the business stuff.
So you get to kind of know stuff before it happens or know what's been going on behind the scenes. That's why it's called the Behind the Scenes podcast, um, that we might not really think to talk about when we're focused on talking about power exchanges. And then the other thing you get for that $2 minimum a month is a monthly live q and a. We live stream, usually it's on the first Saturday of the month. We take an hour and we'll answer questions and we'll chitchat and we'll hang out.
Um, it's a slightly less chaotic version of our Friday Night live streams and it is focused on answering questions. Um, so that's what we offer for everybody who joins, no matter what tier you choose, what dollar amount you choose, if you choose higher than $2 a month, um, at the $5 level, you get access to our monthly game nights. We use our Discord server to chat and then we'll play an online game together. Last year we played a lot of Cards Against Humanity.
Uh, the site that we were using got so buggy and so, oh, I was even paying for that site. Y'all. Um, we're not going to use that, at least for now. We're gonna look for other games this year. I'm in the process of figuring out what, um, what we wanna do with that. Um, but that's, we do that once a month, usually on a Friday night. And then at the $10 level, which is our official top tier, it's two, five or 10 y'all.
Um, at the $10 level, you get everything that two and $5 levels get, but also you get access to any digital product. The digital downloads we sell in our Etsy shop, you get access to those, uh, at no charge. So our planner sheets are habit trackers, workbooks, um, including new workbooks. And I do have a plan to do a new workbook this year. I don't know when, but I do have a plan. And so you get that for free. You don't have to pay for that on Etsy.
The other thing everybody gets, I don't usually make it like a huge selling point 'cause I don't, it's a perk, but I don't know that that's gonna entice anybody. You do get discounts to both, uh, our Etsy shop and the kry. Um, and those discounts are better than any sale we ever do. So you can use 'em all year long, that kind of stuff. So that's, that's what you get . Um, but why an annual membership drive? Why, uh, sign up now, now through February 15th, our, uh, membership drive is going on.
Well, we do extra stuff to, you know, convince you to come hang out with the cool kids, you know, uh, . So the one thing that will, um, benefit any member regardless is you're gonna get a goodie in the mail, usually in mid to late March. It could be early April. Like timing is a little weird 'cause we have to make stuff.
Um, this year the goodies, um, there's two, two of them, uh, the two and $5 tiers will get a sticker sheet that have some loving BDSM stickers and then like some little kinky stickers. Um, the designs that we're doing for our sticker sheet were chosen by current members. And then at the $10 level and anybody who might be paying more than $10 'cause of old levels or other stuff. 'cause there are ways to pay more than the we've created. Um, we'll get an enamel pin pin.
This is the, uh, annual time to tease me about how my southern self says pin pin, PIN pin. Y'all. I'm southern, I can't help it. Anyway, um, the final design on that is also being chosen by current members. Um, because I couldn't decide, and there are two I wanted to do. And so I said, Hey, uh, which of these two? And they're, they're voting in a poll right now.
So if you are a paying member as of February 15th, 2024, uh, to our Patreon, you're gonna get a goodie in the mail as long as we have your mailing address. The other thing we offer during this membership drive is for people who want to pay one time to get access for the full year. So a lot of people come into Patreon in general and they pay per month, which is good because it means you can, you can bounce whenever you gotta go.
You're like, oh, I have money for this, or, oh, I'm not using this anymore. Or, oh, I don't even listen to their podcast anymore. I'm outta here. If you're a month to month subscriber, then you can leave whenever you need to and you don't have to keep paying. But a lot of people do like to just pay the one time, maybe when they have a little bit of extra cash in their pocket, then they get access for the full year during our membership drive. So that's now through February 15th.
If you sign up as an annual member, you get two months for free. So what that means is you pay upfront for 10 months of access, but you get a full year to be a part of our Patreon and do all the things and, and hopefully have a good time outside of our membership drive. Uh, if you sign up as an annual member, you get one month free. Um, the right now, during this time you get two months free. And then, you know, depending on your tier, that can be a decent savings.
You know, if you're at the $10 a month tier, that's $20 off, right? Um, do we, can we offer anything special like that for month to month subscribers? No. Not because we don't want to, but because Patreon doesn't let us. Um, the one thing we do offer for five and $10 tiers, you can come join our community with a seven day free trial to take a look around, see if it's what you want. The thing for the membership drive to get your goodie is you have to be a paying member as a February 15th.
So if you take advantage of the seven day trial, you need to have started paying by the time the membership drive is over. So you're on the list that Patreon gives me of members who get this goody. So that is something to keep in mind. But, um, if you're like me, maybe I'll do that. But I don't know. You can come in as a, a free member for seven days, take a look around, see if it's, you know, the right vibe for you before you spend any money. So that is also an option that we, uh, now offer.
