Episode description

Tune in for the pre-race episode of the Lost Dot 101 podcast, setting the scene for the road ahead. Hosting an all-FLINTA field including ~50% first-time racers, the Lost Dot 101 will see participants race from the starting line in historic Santiago de Compostela due south, finishing in the city of Córdoba having navigated along mandatory parcours and through control points along the way.
In this episode, Lost Dot Media Manager Taylor Doyle, sits down with race organisers Andew Phillips and Hannah Larbalestier to discuss origins of the race, creating a sense of community, and route design. We hear from two of four Mike Hall Bursary riders: Fatima Islam (035) about her route into cycling and approach to the race, and Em Wilson (072) on her choice to race on a cargo bike. Amrei Kuhne (034) reflects on their past experiences riding ultras and why an all-FLINTA race feels so important. Ayesha McGowan (084) compares UCI duties to the challenges of unsupported racing. Nicky Shaw (092) returns to form after a serious injury whilst racing in 2024. Hear Nicky’s aspirations for a fast finish, and more. Hear also from Race Reporter Athlyn Cathcart-Keays, her Roll Models mentoring scheme, and what she’ll be bringing to her storytelling.

The inaugural edition of the Lost Dot 101 is now underway. We wish all riders the best of luck and a smooth race ahead.
