Episode description

Set during the heat of the 1980s Cold War, Russian sci-fi horror flick Sputnik drops viewers into the dark corners of nationalist pride and militaristic hubris. The film's Russian cosmonaut is both a national hero and potentially deadly weapon when he returns to earth with an unwelcome alien hitchhiker inside. In this episode, we talk about the cultural differences found in this excellent Russian movie and what does and doesn't work in director Egor Abramenko's unusual take on a common alien tale.
