Hello and welcome to Midweek Madeleys . This is the spin-off midweek show from the podcast TV nostalgia based podcast Living with Madeleys . I'm Liam . I'm one of the hosts . There's another host and he's called Andrew and he's hopefully on the line .
Long time no speak , mate . It's been a while on . It obviously put Bowie out yesterday . Well , yesterday , as you're listening to this , yeah , yeah , we .
Back in the room . Yeah , my fault completely . It recorded ages ago . I just didn't get around to editing it and then I kind of built it up to be a bigger thing in my head than it was and then actually , when I did get around to editing it , I quite enjoyed it . So Sometimes you've got to bite the bullet , haven't you ?
And this weekend we're doing the main road show . We're going to Chapel St Lenin's for two days , so hopefully we'll be lobbing some recordings around from that . I don't know what we're going to do yet .

So yeah , I've heard it's going to be 19 degrees . I'm taking my camera and shirt so , yeah , I chose the dead bar for that . Actually , because he put me onto this , I would talk about it like a camera and shirt .
I thought you were going to say bought it for you , no , no , he found the site for me .
I bought it and then I looked at the reviews after and it had like one and a half out of five Trust Piper . I thought , shit , I'm not getting that back , but it came brilliant . I left him a review and just said you know , absolutely fantastic .
Got a lot of bad reviews .
On this occasion it turned up thanks , yeah , and they said thanks , for they didn't give it . I thought they might have said , for that review we'll give you a free shirt , but they didn't just say thanks for the review .
They might have said when it just got lost in post .
They're in Australia it's based anyway .

But , they were all right for me .

Yeah , anyway , onto obviously the first midweek we've done for a while . First off , a long time , some Maitley clips that I want to play . Kate Egg message it as saying well , it would just this . I had seen this as well .
Actually , have you seen this when he's doing an interview with someone who's the interview's already pre-recorded and he didn't realise , so he's asking them questions ? I'm just going to play a clippy .
You can't see it on the clip , but there's a brilliant bit where he finds out and she says like oh , maitley's pre-recorded and he scribbles his questions out really well , so anyway , I'll play the clip here .
Because we were having that discussion , youtube presumably were putting the finishing touches on their decision , which has just been announced , to suspend the monetisation , as they put it , of Russell Brown's channel . What do you make of that as a developing aspect of the story ? That was said oh , I thought he was going to be alive .
No , no , no , oh , I'm so sorry . I understood you at the end of the line . That's the question . I would have asked yes , of course , yeah .
Yeah , I've seen that . Yeah , really good . Yeah , like you say that did make me laugh where his line of interrogation is cancelled , so he just scribbles out his questions .
Yeah , and Jane , as I said , tags in another clip . Again , I've not seen this one , though , to be fair , the president of I can never say this . Is it Guayana ? Thanks for watching . ¶ Reparations and Nostalgic TV Shows Discussion
One of the points he's going to be making today is about our royal family , and you feel that it's not just about the finances involved here in terms of reparations of slavery . It's about the gestures , and you think that the British royal family should make a big gesture , don't you ? What do you mean ? A hand over a palace to your country ?
Well , no , we don't want the British to hand over a palace that we built . You know , if you go into many of the palaces in Britain , you will see the lovely green-hearted wood from Guyana . You will see the sweat , tears and blood of the slaves who were exploited . So what do you want ? And the revenue that was that was earned from their exploitation ?
We're not asking for a palace , we're asking for justice .
He's saying his bang's on the table . You said you want something to be done from this country , because what do you want the royal family to give you something ? And this guy goes . Well , we did build most of the stuff that the royal family owned , so and he goes , hahahaha .

Yeah , I remember it . We recorded that long ago , jane as well . She messaged saying someone mentioned Yulder Sees at work this morning . She can't get the theme tune out of her head . She had to look it up and the original was in French . And I reckon this is the sort of thing that I'd be all over , because she was stunned . She's like mind blowing .
What's it about ? What's this Yulder Sees ? Remember Yulder Sees the cartoon ? No , no , yeah , this is it . This is what I want to say . So she , like she is obviously a massive thing for Jane . This like finding out we're in French and I think it would have been for me if I remembered it , but I don't remember Yulder Sees . What's going on ? I don't get it .
She sent us the French version of Yulder Sees . We've not seen the English version , I appreciate it very much , but yeah , but we've not seen the English version . You've seen the message . I'm struggling with the context , right . So she said someone messaged Yulder Sees at work this morning and she can't get the theme tune out of her head .
So she had to look it up . Then she said did you know ? The original was in French . And then she put just sweet nono , a pity robot , and yeah . And then she sent us , like the French version , and like I say , I think this would be something I'd be all over because I can't remember the original Yulder Sees .
So it's just a little bit before our time , isn't it ? So what were we listening to the French one ? I'm not playing it because I don't know the original . So , but say what , I'll do a compromise . Deb Back replied he remembers it and he said they don't make theme tunes like this anymore because they play the mysterious cities of gold theme tunes .

Webding takes it further by saying maybe it's a little known fact that Bobby Ball's a tech expert , or perhaps Cannon is a rocket scientist on the side , well , the grumble , we invented the air fryer . Or Ross Abbott worked for NASA and he said maybe not that one , but he does love an atmosphere which is a phenomenal poem .

And on the obviously former kids TV presenters on CRTV . Both of them and eggy texas it was sexist messages . So we're not only killing celebrities but we're killing TV channels because obviously , crtv shutting down I'm already shut down actually by now yeah , they're not doing it anymore , what does your kids watch ?
Well , this is a problem . They watch Netflix or Disney , or they don't watch terrestrial TV . So yeah , I can see why I think it's a sensible business move it is .
But it's sad , isn't it ? Because you're not going to get those sort of collective memories anymore . Are you that you used to get ?
Yeah , yeah , it's not like it's different in here . It's not like good old days , is it ? But they can watch what they want when they want . Now I'll try to explain to Tilly , because she's been watching Simpsons , that I used to have to record them on a video and then watch the same ones until , like , the next lot came out .

I do miss that . I know you can get sort of a community thing on . You know what , when they put everything on at the same time on iPlayer , they all watch what they want .

¶ Hulk Hogan's Fabricated Stories
Um , about he's kind of fabricated a story about an ill child who couldn't , yeah , and he says he wrestled at Wembley .
Um , and just before he started wrestling , the one of his , one of the hulk of maniacs is eight year old kid . He were a make-or-wish kid . He passed away and hope that this song about him hulk , he asks since transpired .
Didn't actually play this show at Wembley , but in this interview I'm not gonna play this quite long , but he says the kid died at Wembley as he was wrestling .

Yeah , he said , like before , he said he could smell the stench of death . Uh , and this year before he died , he goes and he goes and I saw a lot of people panicking and all sort of stuff . Then he goes and I found out after that he died and he was a real hulk of maniac . So I got Jimmy mouth , the south hodge and bollocks . He went even there .
Do you think no , I think we talked away from the podcast about this . I think he thinks that's real . I don't think he thinks he's making it up , I think he's . He's kind of just Lost his grip on what happened . I think he he does think there was this little Jimmy or whatever he was .

I think it's possible he had some input into the Script .
Well , he's not a biography . Ogon claimed it was such a mess of a script that he rewrote himself , but no one has backed him up and he is not listed as a writer Film . So is that a fly or ?

sessions . Well , you say well , 400 days in one year , not 400 sessions , 400 days in one year . So someone pulled him up and said we can't after , there's only 365 . And he said he travels so frequently between the United States and Japan that the time difference made it a 400 day of possibility .
How was it ? I don't like can you kind of use date lines to build ? But as far as I'm awake I only have a build up one extra day in the year , if you did that well , he says please add a bit .

Number three don't even consume more left . He said Elvis was a hulkamaniac . Elvis died in 1977 and Hulkamaniac started wrestling until 1979 . He said Elvis were a huge hogan family . He was a huge hogan family Brilliant .
Yeah , I'm going to build up that one too . I don't know quite how , but yeah , I think that's possible .
The first hulkamaniac . I ain't nothing but a hulkamaniac , I don't know . And then finally this is one of the most famous bonds One claim that both that Metallica and the Rolling Stones wanted him to play as their bass player . The Metallica member , lars Ulrich , came to Hogan himself and Lars Ulrich came to him and asked him to play with the group .
When asked about it , ulrich didn't even know Hulk Hogan was .
Again , it's not possible , but it's kind of possible . There's some cross-wires in there and somebody maybe he spoke to somebody or something to do with a band who said oh yeah , it'd be good as a novelty thing if you played a little bit . So yeah , I'll give him a benefit to that .

No , I can't even imagine him playing a bass player without like just smashing it and ripping his shirt off . He does play .
There's a fantastic we might have to review it , you know , because he's brilliant the wrestling music show back in the 80s . Vince McMahon sings quite a lot of songs on it . It's absolutely crazy . But realistically , obviously that clip has been shared so many times and it gets nothing for it . In the same way that I think Mike Parry is he copyrighted the cinnamon challenge .

Yeah yeah , and it's kind of it's pre-David Brent , but you can very much see kind of how they were coming towards this character . So it's a guy who works in an office and he wants to be a David Bowie impersonator . It's absolutely brilliant . I mean , what was Golden Years ? Was it like a Just a song by Bowie ? All right .
So I wonder what the series was then , because at the start , when it came up , I thought , oh yeah , there might be a few of these different ones . I'm not sure . I don't know if this is part of a series of things or just a one-off that Ricky Gervais did .
I think it was series of one-off shows . I have seen this , but not for a while . Might actually review it . I remember it being good .
It's really really good yeah , I mean there's some jokes that get reused in the office , which I suppose it's his material . So you can't plagiarise yourself , can you ? I don't think .

I've been watching a bit of Marseille . I don't know why it just comes up on my YouTube thing . I must have watched a couple of some of something I don't know , just him sort of striding on stage . In the most he's still unbelievably awkward .
Yeah , yeah , he's a very , very awkward man . That would probably be a good one of these , actually someone who I don't know if they're all impersonators I don't know anything about the series this was taken from , but this one is brilliant and if anyone does want to watch it , it's on YouTube .
Ricky Gervais Golden Years , david Bowie homage and the bit with a Freddie Mercury impersonator is absolutely brilliant . I think I remember that time . Oh , it's really funny how laughing out loud We'll have to do it .

Yeah , that is absolutely brilliant that . I love that . Imagine seeing that they're not going to hit what . That's what we've been doing all the way in politics , like for a month .

Yeah , a real devastating day when I found out , like you know , because I remember some , I think I found like someone put the John Cena clip on of he's been compromised to a permanent end .
Well , we weren't sure if this other guy was somebody sort of trying to jump in and fill his boots , but now it is the real . It is the real guy . So yeah , try them there and thank you for listening .
