All right. You about ready to kick it off? I'm going to start off with prayer today. Okay. And you are beautiful. So, so love the colors. Thank you. I have to get you to wake up, though. You're going to need some more coffee. I know. Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you for the privilege of doing this podcast. Lord, our heart and our prayers to help people in whatever way we can,
mind, body, and spirit. So, Lord, as we talk today and share and converse, Lord, may what is said honor you, glorify you, and literally bring lift into the lives of others in Jesus' name. And everybody said. Everybody. Everybody said. Everybody. This is Jimmy and Annette, and we are coming to you from the studio at Bridge Church in Fredericksburg, Texas. Hello, beautiful. Hello. Stunning as always. It's been a while. It's been a minute. You've been interviewing
a lot of other people. That is true. I've been pretty busy. You've been very busy. I have. You've been stuck, too. You've been grounded. I was stuck, and now I'm not stuck, but the kitchen's... It's not just the kitchen. Kitchen, bathroom, utility room. It's still not done. Yeah. How long have we been doing this? This has been an ongoing saga, so to speak. Almost 14 months. Yeah. It's been a while. It's been a minute. 14 months. But the last six weeks have been like...
Oh, man. I know. It's crazy. It's crazy. It's crazy. Like lightning, but not fast enough. Yeah, I know. I know. Well, time has passed. I'm glad we're back on the podcast together. We traveled last week, so we didn't do one. Hey, it was my idea to do it today. That was your idea, and I'm like uber proud. I know. You almost fell over. I almost did. You would have had to pick me up. Yeah. Fan me. Well, we had such a great
week. Wow. Because we took our vacation, and then we had a meetup, which we'll talk about today, with our carnivore friends. The highlight. Absolutely amazing. No, I shouldn't say that. I got to see our grandson for the first time. That was definitely the highlight. We had two highlights. Colin James Lighthizer. Colin James Pruitt Lighthizer. Is Pruitt still in there? I forgot that. They kept that name. He's going to have a complicated name. I feel sorry for
him. K -J -P -L. That's a pretty lengthy initials. That sounds like a radio station. I know it does. Four letters, right? But he looks like a linebacker. I mean, he looks like he's ready to get on the gridiron and go hit somebody. You know, it was hard on me because all of our grandkids live away from us. And Alicia always lived really close to us, so I got to be somewhat close to our grandkids. And now she's in Nashville, so we have to travel. They're a lot. Darn. Oh my
gosh. Oh darn. Have to go to Nashville. Because I have to, he needs to know his Nana. Our kids are really spread out. I mean, that's, it's kind of the sign of the times, right? People are mobile, jobs are all over. Our family's in ministry. So that puts us, takes us all over the place. And so anyway, our kids in Houston, our kids in Nashville, and one of them, thank the Lord, is here. And her husband, Brandon, Faith and Brandon. So we're thrilled that they're under
us. And we have a granddaughter in California. So they're everywhere. Wow. We want to welcome our listeners today. So glad that you joined us today. So good to have Pastor Annette, Mama A, Dame Annette back. So happy, happy. Nana? Well, I think you've had some good interviews and you've got some more coming up. It's been great. In your pocket that you're waiting in. By the way, I got invited today, this morning. I didn't get a chance to tell you. TD from the
Texas Boys. Oh. We met them at the meetup in Austin. He invited me. He wrote me this morning and invited me. I was wondering if he was going to do that. Yeah. I thought, they need to have you on there. Well, I'm a Texas boy, so I'll fit right in with their family. They have a huge family. They do homesteading, and they do carnivore. They have a ranch. They raise their own cattle. And they showed the pictures. them and talked about their at our meetup and it was shocking
to see the difference. Yeah, they have a great carnivore journey story, which we're going to talk a little bit about carnivore today because this is a part of our lives. So here's how we approach this podcast. And really, this is how we approach life. We don't really do anything different on a podcast than we do in real life. These conversations we have here with you basically are the conversations we have. We just turn a
microphone on and it's our life. But mind, body and spirit, living a life of balance, living a life. of integrity, of integration. So taking these parts, the mind, the mental state, the body, obviously the physical and the spirit, our walk, our faith life, those all integrate into a whole person, right? Mind, body, spirit. And so if any one of those are pulled out or shorter or not. not in balance with the others, then it doesn't work. It's dysfunctional. And
so we bring all that to the table. So we've not talked as much about our carnivore journey because we always want to be sensitive to where people are, but we realized this is who we are. We can't not talk about it. We were invited to a meetup in Austin. Talk about that. Because we're featured in a documentary that is being made right now for Netflix and a series. And we were featured in it. They actually came to our church and our
home and filmed us. And now they're doing all these meetups all over America, just trying to raise money for this documentary, which they're getting close. And so we were able to attend. We just piggybacked it from our vacation. And it was probably one of the most ministry -oriented.
things that we've been to that was actually a secular event because it wasn't a Christian event but someone even approached you and said is this a Christian event and you know would a Muslim be you know welcomed and you're like well of course and I had to remind him no it's not a Christian event it just so happens that people that are stewarding their health and taking care of themselves tend to lean towards a faith life.
And so, but we're going to be who we are, wherever we are, you know, we don't apologize for who we, he was totally cool with it. Yeah. And it was awesome, but it, it really, uh, it first for what you said, because you talked about the three legged stool as we were, as we were, you know, presenting our story to the people there, it, it, it just lent itself. For us to be able to just talk about our faith and where we're
at. And I loved that. I felt like that was so important because even people came up to us afterwards and said, can we sit with you? Can we, you know, and they wanted to talk to us. They wanted to know about our church. And it was just. it was pretty remarkable what happened there. It infused my faith. I love that we got to meet with Dr. Kiltz. And I want you to talk about the podcast we were on with him on Sunday, because he's writing a book called Christ and Carnivore. And that's
how we feel. We feel like we're bringing Christ into every area of our life. Why not into our carnivore journey? Exactly. Because it's not like, how can you, you can't separate yourself. You know what I mean? One of the things that's, really typical of Western people, we're Western people, is that we tend to categorize or compartmentalize our lives to where, you know, we wear this hat
in this environment, we'll wear this hat. But I'm calling us all back to integrity, integration, where we're not, we don't live like a chameleon, you know, to be a person who's a person of faith, a person who takes care of themselves and stewards all our attitude about. taking care of ourselves and our health is not about vanity. Probably wasn't when we were younger. You know, you want to look good, but as we've gotten older, I mean, it's more about I'm 63. You're still 62. You
have not crossed over the line. I'm not going to cross over. What, two weeks? You're about two weeks. So we'll both be 63. And yet we're probably in our prime health that we've ever been in overall. Overall. We're functional. We're energetic. We're busy. We're busier now than we've ever been in our entire careers, our lives. And we get to do it. But we need the energy. We need the energy. Because we're so busy. And so that means you need to get on some kind of
health. so that you can go the long haul. I mean, isn't that what we're trying to do? That is. And another piece of that I was going to say is the stewarding of our body because it's a gift from God. God gave us our physical bodies, and then he gives us a choice and the ability to put the right things into the body, the right fuel into the gas tank. If you put diesel in
a gasoline engine, it's not going to run. It's going to ruin that engine or it's going to, you know, it's going to not work, won't function. And so we're trying to just put the right kind of fuel in our bodies and be healthy, not just to survive, but to truly thrive. Jesus said in John chapter 10, verse 10, I've come that you might have life and have life to the full. Another translation says have life and have it more abundantly.
So we're looking for that abundant life. And like you said, this is exactly, you nailed it. And that is to finish strong. We want to live however long we have on this earth, whether it's getting taken out by an accident or some kind of health event or whatever, however long that is. And we know we've got friends our age that are long gone, you know, at this age. We see
it happening all around us. Well, when you were talking about the funerals that you did, you've talked about it quite a bit on different events. You've had that opportunity. But you didn't say that most of them were all at once, too, which was pretty crazy last year. And remember what I said about it is that probably six out of the seven should not have died. Well, my sister shouldn't have. No. And that was my wife. She was 70. She had just turned 70 and had complications of type
2 diabetes. So that became your why for wanting to take care of your health. It was my why because everyone in my family had type 2 diabetes. And has died of complications of it too young. Right. And I feel like, you know, and I'm not saying that you have to be 100 % carnivore, but if we could get rid of the processed foods, get rid of the carbs, because carbs are not essential. Protein's essential, but carbs are not essential.
And I'm not saying you can't ever, but if you can modify your diet, I mean, how are we going to go the long haul if we keep eating the American diet? It's called the sad. It's sad because it's the standard American diet. Because it is pretty sad, actually. It is. And I was just looking up the meetup. Why don't you explain to everybody what a meetup is? What is a meetup? Well, you're
meeting up with people. like -minded people that have have embraced carnivore or who have just started the carnivore journey and you're obviously we were up there speaking about our journey our why um what prompted us to do this and um what our results are from that and for you and me it was a little bit different than others for others it was you know a lot of weight loss right And a lot of diseases that were cured, cured, I say cured because they were cured. Not just
improved. Not just improved, but so many people had diseases that were cured that doctors will tell you are incurable. Like type 2 diabetes. Yes. Hypertension. IBS. IBS. All those things totally cleared up just like with us. Yes. It was interesting. I loved hearing the stories. What it did is it gave us. the impetus to start back like really strong and really remind ourself. And I think that's, it's really no different than when you're a Christian and you start to
allow the things of the world. to overtake the things that God wants to do in and through you. And you've got to kind of get back on the horse again, you know, and start going the right direction. It's the same way with our health. Anybody who decides to get on this, if they have, you know, a blimp or something where they can't continue, you can get back on it. start the journey again. So it's the same thing with our walk. And I think because we're human, we're used to kind of having
things pull us back. And I think for us, just going to this meetup and hearing all the stories just infused an energy again in us to have mind, body, spirit, have it all. Like you said, the three -legged stool where we're not cutting one leg off, we're actually sitting on a three -legged stool that's stable. And that's what, you know, we talked about this before, stable makes you able. And that's in every area of your life. And we see too many people that are godly. I
mean, they're going full force with God. They're hungry, but then they've let themselves go physically.
And, you know, the Bible talks about our... bodies being the temple of the holy spirit and so i think not enough preachers preach about the whole body the whole person the whole person and i think that's i think this infused that energy in us to we need to get back to that and not i'm not talking about meddling or pushing people but saying you know look at the new cabinet look at rfk jr and the difference in him And the person he took the place. That is like light years.
It's light years. And so if our government is seeing that we need to make a change there, why wouldn't we as Christians want to even be better? Why wouldn't we want to be better stewards of our body? And a lot of it I don't think is ignorance. Honestly, I think it's willpower. I think that's the problem, which is really the same with our walk with the Lord. It's the same. You have to have discipline. You have to have a hunger to get into the word, to hear his voice, the right
things inside of you. We become what we behold and we leak out what we're full of. And so whether you're talking about your spirit, your mind, or your body, all of those, if you think about it, all of those are diet -oriented. Not like food, but the fuel, the inputs. So you've got inputs because you want a certain output. You want a certain outcome. And I so agree with you. One of the things you really hit on, I just want to explore it for a minute, because this speaks
to all three of these. these areas mind body and spirit and it's the power of community yeah it's the power of connection we the way i said it at the at the conference uh on last saturday in austin at the meetup i said connection is protection which you say that in the pulpit i do everything you said the same At our event, you say in church. Absolutely. Because it's in Texas. Because they're universal principles, but they're based out of Scripture. It's in every
area of our life. They're based out of the Word of God. Every area of our life. So I turn them into little cliches because I'm a simple man and it's easier for me to remember. Which is funny because Dr. Kiltz said, I can't wait to read your book that you write on all your Jimmy -isms because they're phenomenal. They're really good. So tell, explain to people what a meetup
is. Well, I mean, again, it's, it's, you're, you're coming together with like -minded people and you're hearing stories and it, it hopefully will help you, will guide you into this life and help you be able to overcome. bad eating habits. And so on this meetup, you're meeting with a lot of different people. They were from everywhere. They weren't just from Austin. So let's talk about how much money we all made doing this meetup. Zero. You know what it felt like
to me? Actually, you and I used to be in Avacare and we'd go to some Avacare meetings, which is an MLM. And it felt like that, but there was zero dollars attached. There is no, this is what I love about being a part of the carnivore community is that It's not about monetizing anything. It's literally about how can we help as many people as possible really get on the track and the journey of health so they can experience. For me, it
has a spiritual component. So they can experience the abundant life that Jesus talks about, the full life. And they can actually run through the tape, finish their life strong, stave off dementia, Alzheimer's, all these different things. That's the big one for me. That's a big one for me at our age because we've watched. Which is why they utilized us in this documentary. Because
we're old. Because we're old. But not because we had a lot of weight to lose, but because we're... doing it for a whole different reason exactly which is we're yeah longevity yeah the thing about life what i love too is we everybody that was there or most people that we met had a youtube channel so they're constantly barraging people with medical information that they're receiving from the carnivore doctors because there's many doctors involved in this they're they're um They're
interviewing other people that have these stories, but they're not trying to make money off of it. It's information, which is what I love because literally I felt like we were at an MLM, but I kept waiting to see if someone was going to say, now send this. There's nothing. It's not. This is not about money. We were on a panel as well. So we got up and gave a speech, our talk on the stage, as did many. Let me just read some of the names of the people who gave their speeches.
I pulled this up just to let people know who we were with. We were with Dr. Robert Kiltz, who's a rock star in the carnivore space. He's a doctor. And then we were with Lauren Knight Hughes. She has a great transformation story of herself, of healing her body. Nia Nova, another
one. had major healing turnarounds uh oh pastor jimmy and annette they even called us pastor jimmy which was funny in that a non -christian environment again it's so good for us getting outside of the church box and being out in the culture salt and light but they but every one of them talked to us honored us as pastor jimmy and annette and then uh the texas boys that's a cool homesteaded couple out of uh not a couple well they're they're brothers it's a whole family
No, the Texas boys are the family. Well, I thought they're, okay. It's the family. It's the kids that are the boys. Think about it. And so they were there as well. And then Carrie Mann of Homestead Howe, that's his YouTube channel. He's really, really one of the non -doctor drivers in the carnivore space. Because it healed him of depression. So much. He had major depression, anxiety. Sleep apnea. He had a lot. You name it. He had so many pills that he used to be on. He had clinical
depression to the point of suicide. He was there. But they told him it was clinical. Well, no, chemical. They said you have a chemical imbalance. Chemical imbalance, which is what they tell everybody. And here's some pills. And he just began to say, I don't. I don't think that, because they were basically dooming him into a life. What I love about this, too, is several of us, including ourselves, when I told our story, heard Dr. Jordan
Peterson on Joe Rogan. And that's what prompted a lot of us, Carrie Mann, myself, and others mentioned it, to try the carnivore way of eating. It's not a diet. It's a way of eating. And I was really impressed with that. I mean, Dr. Jordan Peterson made a huge impact just by going on Joe Rogan. And then now his wife is in this movie. She's part of the documentary. It started, though, with his daughter, Michaela. He was telling her story to Joe Rogan about carnivore because Rogan's
been in and out of carnivore. He's a health nut. he has done intermittent seasons of being strict carnivore and then he'll come out of it and go back into it, which again, you can, if you get off the bandwagon, there's no judgment. You just get back on. You don't beat yourself up. You just pick up where you left off. Exactly. Because sometimes we think he moves away, but we move away because of the distractions. Yeah. So Jordan Peterson was on the show. He talks about Michaela
having just a litany. She had a laundry list of physical ailments that she had struggled with for her whole life as a young person. And she somehow, I don't remember how she did it, she stumbled on a carnivore. Well, it's because someone told her to do some elimination. Oh, that's how it was. And so she kind of went keto -ish. But then once she was still having issues. So in an elimination diet, you sort of strip down to
just the bare bones. And it's good to start with carnivore simply because you're just back to meat and water, you know, electrolytes to help you stay balanced. But she did that, and she felt great. All of a sudden, things started clearing up. Then as she did that, so an elimination diet, you eliminate those things, but then you can start adding back things, and then your body will tell you whether you can do it or not. Turns out for her, she's got to stay pretty strict
carnivore. But her father, Jordan Peterson, and his wife both watched her heal herself. And then they realized, you know what, we have some issues too. I wonder if it will clear our issues up. And it did. And they stuck with it. If you see older pictures of Jordan Peterson, he was huge. He was way overweight. And now look how thin he is. Oh, he's trim and thin. And gosh, I don't know how old Jordan is. Late 60s? Probably. Yeah, close to 70. And he looks phenomenal. But it's
not just about the losing weight, though. It really is about quality of life. And that's why we're not. We don't have a full -on carnivore channel. We just don't do that. But it's a part of who we are. We were going to, but we realized we have so many things to do. We have a lot of irons in the fire. Integrated into our podcast here. So for you listening, we want to encourage you. Think in terms about mind, body, and spirit
being like a three -legged stool. And ask yourself, are all three of my legs on my stool the same length? And if they're not, why not? What is it in one area that's shorter than the other? Because if you cut two to three inches off of a stool and try to sit on it, it's dysfunctional. It's ruined. Well, I think about our son -in -law who has been a lifelong smoker. He's 37 years old. So I think he started smoking when he was very young. And he and my daughter decided
that they wanted to have a baby. And she begged him to stop smoking. And he tried, he tried everything. Struggled. Nothing worked. And then she said, okay, they were able to conceive a child. And she said, can you do it by the time Colin is born? So that I don't want you to have health problems. And for Colin to have to breathe. Breathe, yes. And so he said, okay, that's my goal. So he had a why. And so he did the patches. He did
everything. But he still was struggling. And the moment that baby was born, and he caught the baby just like you did when we had Faith, which I thought was really wonderful. Once he did, he's never smoked again. And that was December 20th. So coming up on three months, we got to see them last week. And he said, I don't even miss it. He said, I tried everything. And he said, but when I saw that baby. It changed everything.
That was his why. Now, the great thing about this is he got a community around him of believers that prayed and prayed that God would give him, yes, the willpower, the determination to look at that child and go, no, that's what we have to do with food. That's what we have to do. when the enemy comes at us to take us off our path with our, with the word of God, with our walk
with Jesus, we've got to have a community. It's like you said, we have to have a community of people that are around us holding our arms up like Aaron and her, you know, Moses holding our arms up saying we can do this, whether it's carnivore, whether it's our walk with the Lord, staying steadfast, even when the enemy's coming at us at every, direction. It's the same thing. You
need a community around you. This is why I don't understand why people can just go to not go to church, but just watch it online and not be in a community of believers where you're growing with other people. How in the world can you be a Christian and not have people around you? And so it's the same thing. That's why this is, you know, Every area of our life, we've got to have community. You know, you're so right. So on point, Damonette. Now that, you know, I've reserved
that only for Adam Curry. He's the only one that can call me that. Honey, how's that? That's reserved for me. I love what you said because you've got to have that clarified why. And for Mark, good example, as soon as he saw that baby, he realized, it pushed him over the top where he goes, my why is tangible. And that's really interesting. That was one of the points I used. I've preached this in the church, but also at the conference, the meetup, is you have to clarify your why.
You've got to clarify. It's got to be clear. In other words, if it's not clear, if it's ambiguous and vague, oh, I want to lose some weight. That won't work. Then that's just a diet. Or as a Christian, I just want to be a better person. I got to get our kids in church because it's good for them. That's not a clarified why. So you've got to clarify your why in all three of your areas, in your health, in your physical body, in your mindset, your mentality. Clarify
your why. Why do I want to be a clear thinker instead of live with brain fog all the time and the fog of war on my mind and always forgetful and not being on point and tired all the time, mental fatigue. Which is interesting because when we went on keto several years ago, many people in the church went on it and said, I didn't even know I had mental fog until I got on keto and things began to clear. I had clarity for
the first time. But what happens is we allow the things of life to creep in and take us away from that. And we're constantly going back and forth. So we move from simplicity to complexity. And when things get complicated, we're like a deer in the headlights. You know, a deer, and we know this because we live in deer country here in the Texas Hill country. When a deer's in the road, they don't know which way to go because all they see are these lights coming
at them. Their life gets suddenly very complicated and they just stop. And they stand in the road and they get hit. And it happens all the time on our road. But it's because they move from simplicity to complexity. When we do the same, which means we have to have that clear, simplified why in every area of our lives. Because if we don't, we won't be able to stick to. Mark has been able to overcome a lifelong addiction and
habit. because his why was clarified. His why was right in front of him screaming and getting a high rating on the Epgar, you know, when they were doing all that initial thing. And it was like, it clicked for him. So thank God, but that needs to happen in every arena of our life, mind, body, spirit. You also mentioned community and the power of that. That goes for your spiritual life. It goes for your health life, but it also goes for your mentality. What kind of people
do you have in your sphere of influence? If you've got a bunch of negative names, I mean, who just constantly are negative all the way down. My goodness. It will take you down. Your community will either lift you up or it will take you down. And you've got to make sure you circle the wagon, so to speak. You put the right people around you. And are those people actually adding any value to you? We call it as iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens another. That's a biblical.
biblical maxim or biblical truth. And are the people that you have around you, are they sharpening you? Are they lifting you up? I love how you're using your hands. I have to. I'm a preacher. And no one can see you. I talk with my whole body. That's why we need to do video. But I know you don't like that idea. I'm still pushing for it. Well, we might have to do that. But all that to say is really got to clarify your why. Connections, protection. Get your community around you. Find
people who will support you. Not just say yes. You need people who will push back too. Who will say, ooh, I don't think that's a good idea. Have you really studied that? Have you checked into that? I've got people like that in my life. Adam and I are that way. We have no problem pushing back on each other, but we do it with kindness because we're constructively trying to, if we criticize one another, it's constructive because I want to see him prosper. I want to see him
continue to grow. And he does the same for me. That's iron sharpens iron. And so that's another piece. Here's another thing that's really important. And what do you think of this principle? I shared this as well. You have to give grace to yourself. Why wouldn't we give the same grace to ourselves that we do to everybody else? Yes. You know, we tend to be merciful to others. We tend, people
were trying to help. We give a lot of grace for, and yet we hold ourselves to these sometimes ridiculous standards that we don't hold others to. I'm not saying you got to lower your standards. I'm saying, but you got to have grace for when you, when you make a mistake, whether it's spiritually, physically, or emotionally. Right. Because if you don't learn to do that, things will take you out on the journey. Absolutely. Absolutely. Who are you texting? I'm not. I'm just kidding.
No, I was kidding because we had a lot of givers in the last few weeks and I wanted to write to be able to. Oh, nice. For our podcast. Yeah, and some letters. I want to be able to do some shout outs. That's what I wanted to talk about. Oh, thank you. I'm sorry. But you're absolutely right. We have to have grace, which we did. During the holidays, this is one of the things that came up. How hard is carnivore? And we're like, well, during the holidays, it's really hard because
we're invited to a lot of social. Pastors are very social. Yes. And so you have to kind of pick and choose what you're going to eat. But you also don't want to offend people. And so that that was we gave ourselves some grace during that time. And but you're right. We also. But the thing is, too, one of the things I've learned in my Christian walk is giving new Christians more grace. Because we, for example, Donald Trump, let's talk about Donald Trump being a new Christian.
You found out recently from someone that's on his team, that office of faith, the White House office of faith. And you asked someone that you met who's... Praise with them weekly. Is Donald Trump born again? Is he a believer? Absolutely. Which I believe he's a new Christian. I do too. I think that probably the shooting had more to do with it than anything. Absolutely. It would for me. But we can't expect him to act like a
mature Christian. Yeah. And likewise, we can't do that with new believers that come into our sphere of influence. And a lot of times we as Christians judge people. That's why we say, oh. There's just a bunch of hypocrites in church. Well, there's a lot of babies in church that are growing. Hey, I'm a hypocrite. Hopefully they're progressing. Are you a hypocrite? Absolutely. Because we're human. The church is full of hypocrites. Of course, that's why we're all coming together
to get healed. We're trying to help each other. And I think if there's anything I've learned in the last couple of years is to have grace for those new Christians. And we cannot expect, and that's what I love about Adam Curry going on Joe Rogan the first time. He said, I'm new at this. You know, I just became a Jesus freak basically. And so I don't have all the answers. And that's true. And we as more mature believers who've walked with Jesus for a very long time
have to give grace to those that are new. But also to ourselves. Yes. We tend to give grace more to others than we do ourselves. And that is the thing, you know. The Bible says that, you know, it talks about, you know, love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. The second commandment is like the first. Love your neighbor as yourself. Love your neighbor as yourself. So it's God, others, and yourself in that order. But here's the thing.
Most people do not love themselves. And when you start talking about self -love, it can eke over into some other arenas that are unhealthy. But I'm talking about a very healthy, proper estimation that... I can love myself because I know this. I'm a son of God. I'm a child of God. I'm created in His image. In His image, the Imago Dei. So I can love myself, but it's not that weird self -love that turns into narcissism or vanity. It's truly just being thankful. That
God created me. So that means I need to give myself some grace when I make mistakes in all three of those arenas. You know, when I have the extra piece of Lily's chocolate instead of having one, I know I love Lily's chocolate. That's the one thing. It's hard to give up. It's my, uh, what's the word? Moderation. Not kryptonite, but moderation. Moderation is the key. But, but it's easy to have two blocks of it instead of just one. Now some carnivores. That hear this
will say, no, you can't. Yeah, you can't do that. Or you can't have coffee with creamer in it. But you know what, then it makes it more of a diet. I don't live in that world of expectation. I know what works for me. And today I hit my
goal weight, 195. I feel. freaking amazing and i did have an extra piece of chocolate yesterday of the lily's no no it was the new chocolate thing whatever you got that whatever that is organic that i got thank you and no thank you but i didn't i didn't partake because i didn't i don't feel like right now i need to be partaking so let's get back to our meetup so we did the meetup that was fantastic and we got to meet the one person i didn't mention is adam lacy
who's become a dear friend uh just a great brother in the lord but also he's doing a lot of the cinematography and photography for the movie, doing a lot of the filming. He has really jumped in on this. When he showed his before and after picture, it was shocking. He's a rock star in the carnivore arena. And he's pretty much given up his whole life for this project. He has. Because he believes in it. Because it saved his life. It also healed a traumatic brain injury from
an accident. But we also met a new doctor, Dr. Nelson. who's coming on board with Dr. Kills. And he had his own story. And I love that. I love it when doctors are seeing the light and they're seeing how they were taught. They were not taught the proper way of eating. And so a lot of them are leaving their practices. And going down a whole different road. Because they weren't taught to heal and or cure diseases. They were taught how to treat symptoms and dispense
pills. And every doctor I know will say that, honestly. Yes, absolutely. Well, because they're not really taught nutrition. Yeah. So, yeah. At the cellular level, the molecular level. And so to see these doctors coming on board, and there's a bunch of them coming over and seeing the value of this. Even your own doctor said, whatever you're doing, keep doing it. Keep doing it, and I think I want to check into this. I
want to check into it myself. And again, we have nothing to gain from this in terms of monetary. We don't get paid for any of this. We just want to help people get better in mind, body, and spirit. All three arenas. going to another meetup. We found out there was another meetup in Nashville, in the Nashville area next month. And we were like, well, Hey, another opportunity to go see our grandson. I called my daughter. She was so excited that we're coming and we're going back
in May for another event. Um, but, uh, Caleb, Caleb fan award. And so we get to see him again. But what I love about this, um, meetup in Nashville is we're going to get to meet Dr. Ken Berry. He, was instrumental in giving us some great medical information. So let me just say, can I pause right here and just caveat that? So for those of you that are listening to us and going, well, okay, I want to check this carnivore thing out. Sounds weird just eating meat, but I want
to check it out. Well, meat, eggs, bacon, better. But you want to get the science behind this, then go on YouTube and just put in the search feature Dr. Kenberry, and you'll have every kind of video you want to know. You want to learn about cholesterol. You want to learn about PCOS. You want to learn about all the different issues. Any disease you have, you can put Dr. Kenberry and that disease, and you'll see a clip come
through that'll address. 20 -year family practice doctor, and he is full -on keto and carnivore. It's just called Ketovore, which is kind of a combination. And he got out of the medical industry, the standard American medical industry, because he wants to help and heal people, not just treat symptoms and be a... a pill pusher. Exactly. And so he, he is amazing. Check him out. And, uh, also Dr. Robert kilts. I call him my favorite 12 year old. He's high on life. This guy is about
to be 69 this week. And that was a fun podcast when we got to go on his, it's his YouTube channel. And, um, it's not out yet. I think it's going to be out. We'll put the link on our newsletter when it releases. What was, Cool about it is we went into a studio. He rented a studio in Austin for us to meet with him. We went into that studio, hit record, and it was supposed to be an hour long and it ended up being almost an hour and a half. And we didn't realize it
because we had so much to talk about. But I love that he brought. Christ into every bit of it. It was all about our journey, our spiritual journey, how you became a pastor. He always says the number one thing is I would listen to him today just for a moment this morning. The number one thing is have faith in God. I mean, that's his whole thing. And so I love that he's got that heart and, and that he really respected and honored us as pastors and let us tell our story. Wonderful.
He does. He's one of our favorite people because he's full of life. He's living up in a down world. He is. He's the epitome of the title of the show. For sure. And everybody needs to get around someone like him. Oh, my gosh. I want him in my circle. We're going to get to see him again in Nashville. This will be our third time to meet with him. And that's what I love about this adventure.
doctor, like I said, doctors coming into this and opening up their eyes and seeing, um, this is, it's not about doing all these surgeries. It's not about doing, you know, giving all these pills out. It's about fueling your body properly. Yeah. Yeah. It's amazing. Yeah. Well, that was amazing. And then we wrapped up, we got to go sit, we went to a concert. Thank you, Matt Munt, for blessing us with tickets. We got to go see Toby Mac's new tour. They just came out on tour.
So we saw Toby Mac. This is all in Austin. Toby Mac, Ryan Stevens. Stevenson. Stevenson. Kane. Terrian. Yeah. Terrian, Kane. Terrian, Kane.
And Crowder. caleb and john too and caleb and john were with in a four -hour period where we stood almost it was non -stop there were no breaks they had one intermission one intermission oh my gosh we needed it i mean we were on our feet the whole time one of the best most enjoyable concert experiences we've had and we've been to a bunch of them honestly for me crowder crowder took it I mean, I, and I, for me, I love Toby Mac because I love the dancing. They were amazing.
They were all amazing. All of them were fantastic. What a great experience. But we got blessed with great seats. We were right there by the, there's two stages and we were literally right up against one of the stages. Except it was a little vertical. challenge for me because there was people in front of me when they were on the first stage yeah when we're standing that puts you at a big disadvantage for sure for sure yeah but it was
It was still an amazing experience. Can't wait to go to K -Love and see some of the same artists. But because we're healthy, we have energy, we did a full day meetup conference. From 10 .30 to 5 .30. Speaking on the panel, meeting with people constantly, photo ops, all that stuff. And then we went straight from there. To get patties at In -N -Out Burger. Yes. To get just meat patties. We woofed them down and went straight to the concert. Woofed them and went straight
to the concert. Oh, my gosh. Didn't even change clothes. I know. I was in sweats. Yeah. And you know what? I was sitting there thinking while the concert was going on, man, mega loud, mega everything. And I'm going. We feel good. We should be in a coma by now. We should be home in bed. And yet we feel so good because of our health that we're just enjoying, I won't say dancing, you were probably moving more than me. I was dancing a lot. And I thought, oh, I hope this
doesn't hurt my knee. Nothing. So much fun. But anyway, that was a huge blessing. Big shout out to Matt Munt for blessing us with those tickets. Adam and Tina were supposed to go with us. They had another commitment. So we just took the tickets. And then we blessed a couple with the extra tickets. They were in front of us in line. And we were like, where are y 'all seats? And they were trying to explain. And we said, do you want better seats? Here's two more tickets. And he was like, you
could go scalp those tickets. I said, no, they were given to us. I'd rather give them. They loved it. They were so appreciative, too. They were a sweet couple. And we got to meet another couple. I know. It was cool. That are like -minded, which is... Christ is our center. That's it. It was amazing. What a great week and a great weekend. We also got to see Pastor Brian and Terry Bush. Yes, in Nashville. They pastor in Antioch. He also works with Dave Ramsey. He was
my boss back then. Now he's a board of directors. He's one of our board of directors at our church. So he's not my boss. He's my partner. So we got to meet with them and share with them what's going on in our church, which is amazing. But you know who I missed the most besides Mr. Chevy? Who? I missed Adam and Tina. Oh, I know. There's something about our friendship has moved to this place that when one of us is out of town, it's
weird for us. Even though we might not have gotten together in that space, it's just weird knowing there's somebody somewhere else. We laugh about it. Well, you get to have a bro date tomorrow night. I am fired up. I know. We are doing a bro date. And I'm thinking Freed Helms is on
the menu. And Freed Helms is... Adam's go -to place but I love it too they actually have a great ribeye there so I'm thinking go rock a ribeye at Friedhelm's so yeah bro date yeah we're doing that tomorrow night and uh looking forward to that well you have a lunch thing well I do but Nashville when we go to Nashville in April yeah Tina's going with us yep when we're going to Nashville in May Tina and Adam. Adam and Tina are going with us. We would go to Florida. Florida.
Tina and Adam. This summer, they'll be with us. And then the Bahamas, Tina and Adam. I know. We're going to go suffer for Jesus in the Bahamas. We have got to make sure that we keep our relationship intact. We were invited on a trip by Peggy Layden and her husband. I haven't met her husband yet, so I'm really excited about meeting him. So they invited us to a condo in the Bahamas, and so we just got to get there. And so that's going to be a fun trip. But that's a lot of trips with
the Currys. I hope we can stay friends. It's like we like them or something. I love those guys. In fact, I was listening to their podcast on the way in this morning. Catching up. Before their next one, which is tonight. I know. We love them. Well, listen, thanks for listening to our show. Why don't you share some things? We've had some great donations, people being generous. Thank you. Trinity sent us some donations. Steve Wise. Brandy. James Berings. Beautiful.
Adam Curry. Adam Curry, because you know the Bitcoin. I don't know the Bitcoin so much. We've had a lot of donations recently, and we really appreciate those donations. Huge. It's just been amazing. We've gotten a couple of beautiful letters, too. In fact, one was from Trinity. That was so encouraging. I sent that over to you. And then another one wrote in. And we just want to say thank you to all of you. You know, if we don't give you an individual shout out, I just
want you to know it matters what you do. When you thank us, that's value for value. And we just want to say we really, really appreciate it. And we want you to know we're not here in a podcast to do anything for ourselves. We're truly just trying to get the good news out, a good message that will change your life, hopefully change the trajectory of your life for the better. We're here to live up in a down world. We mean that. In fact, Dr. Kiltz asked about that. name
because he's an up guy. He's like down. But he didn't, he said, but this isn't a down world. He didn't really get that. But it's a biblical reference that we live in a fallen world after the, after, um, the garden incident with Adam and Eve, the world is referred to as a fallen world. It's a down world. So I think the world's beautiful. I love the mountains. I love the beach and everything in between. There's a lot of people that are down that don't know Christ. Right.
And so you can live up when you have a relationship. with christ and that's another avenue of our name i hate to go but you've got a meeting to get to girl oh it's time i know i've got to go i know well thank you for joining us today for living up in a down world we love you even if we've never met you in person we love you we appreciate you we value you listen keep living up in a down world one last word very quickly what are you gonna say Thank you for tuning in.
We love you. And hopefully we'll be getting a little bit more. Sorry, we'll be getting a little bit more weekly or every other week. We'll have some time to more consistent, more consistency. All right. You guys have an amazing week on purpose. Go to your meeting.
