Episode description

My guest today is Rev. Dr. Jerry Streets. Dr. Streets has had a long and distinguished career in the fields of ministry, chaplaincy, social work, and academia.

As a minister and chaplain, he served as the first Baptist and African American to be Yale University Chaplain and currently serves as the Senior Minister of the Dixwell Avenue United Church of Christ.

As a social worker, he is the 2018 recipient of the Diana R. Garland Award for Social Work Practitioner Excellence and is a member of the Harvard Program in Refugee Trauma. He has also worked with Desmond Tutu as a Senior Fulbright Scholar at the University of Pretoria, South Africa.

As an academic, he teaches at Yale Divinity school and has taught at several other institutions in the field of pastoral counselling and social work.

Rev. Streets is a mentor and inspiration to many students and leaders and it was a joy to speak with him for the podcast.
