Episode description

Charlie Edwards is a British professional boxer who is the current WBC Flyweight champion.  As of January 2019, Edwards is ranked as the best flyweight in the world by BoxRec third best by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board and 5th best by The Ring.

Edwards took up boxing at the age of 11 to lose weight but it was quickly apparent the sport could provide more than the odd sweat session.

‘Real Deal’ went on to fight for the famous Repton ABC and also brought his little brother Sunny into the sport.

Influenced by the likes of Sugar Ray Leonard and Manny Pacquiao, Edwards’ improvement was remarkable and he became a two-time ABA Elite champion, a European bronze medallist and a five-time Great Britain Senior champion.

Edwards, who turned professional at the start of 2015, is an advocate of meditation and spirituality.

Edwards compiled a record of 13-1 before facing and defeating Nicaraguan fighter Cristofer Rosales to win the WBC Flyweight title.
