Speaker 1

Welcome to Music to our Ears, where we share some interesting tidbits and stories related to our favorite lingo kids songs. Today we're at band camp, where kids come to learn to play musical instruments. We'll hear all kinds of music at band camp.

Speaker 2

Follow me. We just heard a duet, a song.

Speaker 1

Made from two instruments with equal importance, the piano and saxophone. Big beautiful music together, don't you think. Yes, there's music coming from a big tent. Let's go inside and have a listen. How many instruments do you hear?

Speaker 2

Three?

Speaker 1

That's called a trio. There's a violin, a cello, and a bass. Three is not a crowd when these string instruments play together. Next, we'll visit a quartet. Guess how many instruments are in that band. A quartet is four musicians, usually playing woodwind instruments like the flute, the obo, the clarinet, and the Bussoon, let's hear them play together. Four snaps for that group. Not every musician is in a band. Some musicians prefer to play solo by themselves. This musician

is warming up his acoustic guitar. That song got my feet tapping and my hands clappin'. An acoustic guitar is not plugged in for a bigger sound. Let's go to the studio to hear an electric guitar and drums being played.

Speaker 2

I'm going to plug my ears. You should too. WHOA, that sounds great, It really rocks.

Speaker 1

The great thing about learning to play a musical instrument is you can make the music you like alone, with a partner, or with a whole bunch of musicians.

Speaker 2

How does that sound. That's music to want.

Speaker 1

Well, then let's sing a song about being in a band. Ready, here we go.
