When Jesus told the disciples about the cross, Peter didn't want to hear it. Peter wanted Jesus to listen to him. “'Never, Lord!' he said. 'This shall never happen to you!'” At the Transfiguration, the Father spoke from the bright cloud and said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!" There is no salvation, or the eternal glory that comes with it, apart from the cross.
