Day 19: Renewed by God's Strength
"He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might, he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint."
Isaiah 40:29-31
"The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him, my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song, I give thanks to him."
Psalm 28:7
"I can do all things through him who strengthens me."
Philippians 4:13
Devotional
The LORD is our strength.
He renews the weary and weak by His Spirit. He uplifts us when we are weighed down with the strength we need to persevere.
There is no need to seem strong to others or fear man. Though we are weak, He is strong.
Our weaknesses do not limit God. Christ’s power is most evident in our weakness, not in our moments of strength.
The LORD is our shield protecting us. Through Him we can face challenges of all kinds with faith.
We can freely give thanks, certain of the Lord’s presence with us. We can trust He is faithful to equip us to do all He has called us to do for His glory.
In all circumstances, the joy of the LORD remains our strength.
Men of God
As men, we often face situations that demand strength—physical, emotional, and spiritual.
Without turning to God, we can rely on our own intellect to solve what we think is the problem and come to find ourselves overwhelmed and exhausted.
Our perceived strength does not impress the Lord God Almighty.
These passages remind us that God renews the strength of those who trust in Him, rely on Him, and wait for Him.
The LORD our God is the Source of the daily strength we need.
When we place our trust in the Lord completely, He infuses us with His power and enables us to overcome.
Application
In response to the help and strength of the LORD, King David proclaimed his trust, wholeheartedly rejoiced, and with his song, he gave thanks to God. How will we respond to our Strength and Shield? We can start by acknowledging our dependence on Him.
Though we may feel weak or inadequate, we can turn to the LORD in prayer anytime, anywhere. We get to seek His guidance and draw from His infinite reservoir of strength. In our daily challenges, we can declare with confidence in faith, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Phil. 4:13).
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Your promises are true. I believe You are my Strength and Shield.
You are unmatched in power and You are faithful to renew the strength of those who wait for You, LORD.
No challenge is too great for you, God. Anything is possible with You. Through Christ, I will overcome.
May my heart trust in You when I feel weak, convinced that You are able and willing to empower me to step forward in faith, Lord Almighty.
Help me to commit this to memory, that my strength comes from You alone, and through You, I can do all things.
You deserve all glory and honor.
In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
