Day 13: Spiritual Growth & Thanksgiving
"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving."
Colossians 2:6-7
"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen."
2 Peter 3:18
"And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ."
Philippians 1:6
Devotional
In His steadfast love, our God desires an ever-deepening relationship with His children.
He is faithful and fully committed to shaping us into Christ’s image and likeness.
Our hearts, minds, souls, and lives are to be rooted and built up in Christ, filled with thanksgiving.
Our faith is to be securely established on our Rock and Firm Foundation.
Having been reconciled to God our Father through Christ, we get to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord by walking with Him daily.
As we do, we come to better resemble and represent Jesus as His ambassadors to the world.
Men of God
As men on the journey of faith in Christ, we may pause and wonder if we are growing spiritually.
At times, it may feel like we have stagnated in our growth in the Lord or have lost the love we had at first.
These verses assure us that God is at work in our lives, guiding us toward maturity in Christ.
The Lord empowers and sustains our growth. His loyal love for us also elicits a response.
We are called to abide in Jesus, the Vine. Those who remain in Him produce much fruit. Apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5).
We get to walk by faith with our Good Shepherd—rejoicing, praying, and giving thanks.
We are among the most blessed in all creation.
Application
Today, take a moment to reflect on your spiritual journey. Give thanks as you consider how far God has brought you. For those who are in Christ, there is no condemnation, so freely draw near to the Lord.
Be honest. Let the Lord search your heart and identify anything keeping you from spiritual growth. Ask for forgiveness and seek His wisdom to respond in faith. Proclaim your trust in God's promise to complete the work He began in you. He will surely do it.
Prayer
Dear Father,
Thank You for Your commitment to my spiritual growth. I praise You for Your steadfast love and patience in my life.
Thank You for Your Word and grace fueling my growth in Christ.
Help me to remain in You today, keenly aware of Your nearness regardless of the distractions that come.
Help me stay rooted and built up in You, firmly established in faith, and abounding with gratitude by the power of the Holy Spirit.
May my perspective shift to align with Your will and Word so my life brings You glory today.
I trust You will bring to completion the work You have begun in me.
In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
