Day 1: A Heart of Praise
"Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods."
Psalm 95:1-3
"But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."
John 4:23-24
"Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness…Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!"
Psalm 150:1-2, 6
Devotional
All glory, honor, and praise are due to the LORD, our triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The Creator, King, and Lord over all, He is our Savior and Redeemer.
Our glorious God has proven Himself praiseworthy through the generations and in our lives. He alone is our Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, Mighty God, and Wonderful Counselor.
The LORD desires true worshipers and He alone deserves our undivided adoration and devotion, in spirit and in truth—now and forevermore.
As we embrace lives of gratitude toward God our Father in response to His greatness and mighty deeds, praise follows.
Our glorious God has been, is, and will be faithful.
He is worthy of our lives, filled with thanksgiving and joy-filled songs of praise.
Men of God
As men, there can be pressure to seem cool, calm, and collected. We may not want to seem to be “too much” to others, so we might lower our voices and keep our worship to ourselves.
We can submit to the pressure to fear man rather than God and seek to fit in when we are called to worship God with our whole lives.
We are designed to live lives overflowing with praise to our Creator.
The LORD is worthy of our avodah, that is, our worship, work, and service. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can honor God and bless others in our words and actions, full of gratitude to God for His daily grace and mighty works in our lives.
Our Savior’s unrivaled greatness and glory warrant our unashamed adoration.
This wholehearted praise is not limited to a specific place or time; it should pour out from our hearts in every aspect of our lives.
As we exalt the name of the LORD, we get to join with heaven and the saints who came before us. Together, we treasure the Rock of our salvation.
Application
Today, take time to lift your voice in praise to God, acknowledging His greatness and love. If you feel you lack sincerity, start by giving Him thanks. God’s given you breath in your lungs to live another day, use it to praise the Lord your God.
On your bed, in the shower, while you walk, work, eat, or rest, in “whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” (Col. 3:17). Sing songs of worship that magnify His name and recount His faithfulness. Let your praise be more than words. Let it be a lifestyle of gratitude, reflecting God's goodness to those around you.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
You have done great things. You have proven Yourself faithful. You are worthy of glory, honor, and praise; You’re enthroned on the praises of Your people.
I confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
May my whole life bring You glory and praise, Lord Jesus. You are worthy of all I am and have, of alI I can give.
No thing and no one we exalt on the throne of our hearts can compare with You, LORD.
I praise You for Your greatness and goodness to me. You are the King above all, and still, You chose to save me and set me apart for Your glory. Hallelujah!
May my heart overflow with gratitude and joy as I worship You throughout this day. May my life be a continuous offering of praise to You, in all I say and do.
In Jesus' name, I pray and praise. Amen.
