Episode description

We discuss the differences in cultures and people having to do with loose and tight boundaries. Julie gives the reference and key principles of why a system fluctuates between loose and tight characteristics. We talk about how people also differ and why it is important to analyze the problem to be solved rather than identify with group characteristics such as left and right. Open and loose characteristics benefit the upper class while closed and tight characteristics benefit the middle class. We conclude that the problem to be solved should dictate whether the approach is loose or tight.
