Why supporting Russian anti-war prisoners is also struggle against the war?

There is a fundraising campaign going on for antiwar prisoners in Russia, and until midnight of tomorrow 3000 euros should be raised, and quite a big amount is still missing: https://www.firefund.net/antiwarprisoners2022 To me it seems that it is not obvious for everyone, how supporting this prisoners is part of the general anti-war effort, and actually a crucial part in bringing down the Russian regime. Supporting prisoners involved in a direct action against war and Russian regime is not just a humanitarian effort, although due to current circumstances in Russia, support has to be framed as humanitarian, ”non-political” effort. The point is not only to help these people facing draconian charges (often from 15 years in prison to a life sentence), but also to legitimize direct actions in general. Russian state and mainstream media says these people are terrorists. Prisoner support counters this claim. Prisoner support shows, that direct action against war is the most normal reaction in the current circumstances. Many of the arrested, who are suspected of direct actions, have been acting alone, in isolation, often without proper security culture. This is unfortunate, but by creating an international movement of support, we may replace this current isolation with solidarity. This way the next wave of direct actions may be more collective and more planned.
