No. Yeah, you don't have to,
mute everyone. And yeah, probably just won't have that access, but you can type in the chat box.
yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I can imagine.
you want to say like,
Yeah, hello! Yeah, I'm excited.
discuss as well, in particular, please ping us a message,
Yeah.

we've had, uh, quite a few DMs recently with questions and, uh,
It's that time of year,
bits and bobs. Yeah, so, any more, then get in touch and we can answer them. Live!

So as well as, uh the live pod of the year.
Heh, of the year.
big event of the year is coming up. Lilybear's
Oh, I was like, what? I was like, what event? Yes! Ha ha ha ha ha! Oh!
because I'm helping with her with some bits and uh, I said, how many people have you got coming? I think it should be like 20, 30. She's got like the same amount of people that come to my wedding at the Baby's first birthday.
What can I say? She's a popular baby.
She's a proper it's more for you guys though, isn't it?
Well,
about the
it's like a celebration, yeah. A celebration of, I've
through a year.
kept her alive for a year, you know. It's good times. Yeah.
what's going on today, They don't
No.
She wouldn't even notice if you didn't do anything, would she?
Probably not, but hey.
it's good as well just to like get everybody out of the way, isn't it? Instead of being like, Oh, yeah, you can come this
Yeah, exactly.
come that day. It's like a couple of hours all in craziness. That's
get to do it. Yeah, it's um, thing is with my family, like even my immediate family is quite sort of big. So, and I'd really didn't want to have everyone at my house because my house isn't that big and it's just like all the tidying up and clearing up you have to do. And I just thought, right, so we hired like a whole and it's just sort of become a bigger event than I originally sort of thought. But actually, I'm really excited. So yeah.
Yeah, what's, like,
Yeah.
gone with this? Is there, like, entertainment, decor, or
Uh, I mean, I'm, I mean, I love a balloon. What can I say? But,
nice.
um, yeah, there's
Only for
no, no entertainment. Yeah. Yeah. Just a part for a birthday party. A balloon is an essential.
Yeah. What, like, the, are you going to, like, card factory, getting the ones, like
what?
ones?
like a balloon bouquet.
they're great, aren't they? Yeah.
going to get a canister myself and do it, but to be honest with you,
Lake.
I'm just going to pay someone to do it now. Cause, uh, well, like you go to the, you go to the balloon, the party shop, and then they do like a little bouquet of six or whatever.
Yeah,
then I'll just get a few of those. Yeah.
weight
That's it.
of the tables.
Yeah. So
before for parties and like you go to like card factory and stuff and they're so cheap I think card factory charge like you buy the packet if you buy the balloons from them The helium is free and then you add the little weights on
yeah.
and they do it basically for free So it ends up costing like a fiver per Like bail
Yeah, exactly.
in the middle of the table?
Which is pretty good to be honest. Yeah. So now i'm excited.
you're getting a big one number one
I've got a number one, yeah, got a number one. I've gone for it, I've really sort of um, Indulged in the pink theme, I'm not gonna lie. I mean, you know,
Why not?
why not? She loves pink, I love pink. Pink's, pink is great.
It's for you anyway, so
I love pink.
want.
And I'm making her, um, birthday cake as well. Um, so, hopefully that goes alright. I mean, I've got, I've got well into baking this, uh, this
a very good baker.
of this year. So, I'm, um, I'm just hoping that it goes well.
Watch this space cake maker, she's gonna be adding to that floristry
yeah, that's it.
do with floristry. Yeah.
as well. Uh, but speaking of baking, uh, Hannah's also providing some baked goods, aren't you? Doing some, uh, some brownies for us, a big load of brownies. Yeah, I'm so excited for that. We, me and Richard got really excited when she sent over the menu. We were just sort of like, ooh, look at all this. Mmm, delicious.
That was like, did you see, did you like my old branding? So basically
did.
during Covid I had a brownie business because
Love it.
Well, I mean, I couldn't do
Because why not, yeah.
yeah, why not? And I used to love bacon, and bacon brownies and stuff, and then couldn't work, so, um, I used to, yeah, sell them in the village and stuff, and then it actually turned into quite a cool brand, and I used to go to, like, food festivals and everything. I actually kept it running, I think, for about a year. Once we started back working again, I don't know how I did it I must have like never slept or
I know, when you look back you're like,
long
I'm
like how people are keeping stuff like that alive Because if when I was looking at like how much it costs for all the ingredients and stuff Every like even like the bars of chocolate I used to buy have been Doubled in price. They used to be
mad.
grams, they're now 70p for 100
my gosh!
insane. And you imagine if you're making them on bulk, like I used to make like two, three hundred every weekend. Like,
Yeah! To actually
them, because it is so time consuming.
Yeah!
wonder how people, and you know when people say like, oh wedding cakes are so expensive, like, I do completely get it, because ingredients are like so much money
Yeah, and the time it takes to do it as well. Like Fiddly isn't it too like making a cake and stuff but
Yeah,
also you're you're limited
like, brownies you just, you know, you're bashing them together,
Yeah
making a wedding cake is, you got, you know, you got to take your time, you got to be
Totally
with
and and also you'd be limited to how many you can do because if you've only got one oven and you're not like Working in a you know, like a catering kitchen or something Uh, you're just working from home like you obviously you're only limited to what you can do in a day So you need to make sure you're charging
Yeah.
know appropriately for that I guess. Yeah
and, also sponge, if you want it to keep nice, you've got to do it, like, right near to the event, haven't you? It's
Yeah.
day, you could do a fruitcake and you could do that weeks in advance and then spend time on it.
Speaking of fruit cakes, my uh, Christmas cake still, I've still got my Christmas cake. Richard's still eating it. Goes for ages, doesn't it? Christmas cake just pickles itself with the, with the alcohol in it.
I love
I made it with rum. If anyone, yeah, if anyone wants a decent um, Christmas cake recipe, just, you know, get in touch. Ha ha ha.
not a big Christmas cake person, but I do love a mince pie and I
Oh, I love a mince pie.
I mixed my fruit this year with red wine,
Oh. Oh. Who is she? Yay.
I used, here's giving all my tricks away, I used salted butter in my pastry,
okay.
really weird, but actually, like, the sweet of the fruit and then a bit of the salt in
nice.
so
No, I can see that, yeah, but that was good.
good.
I love a mince pie, yeah. My mum makes some, my mum always makes the best mince pies. And then, I know it's Christmas, I always have one of her mince pies. I'm like, mmm,
they're so good.
it.
Yeah, my mum used to make good ones and it was always like a Christmas y thing. We always made them on Christmas
Yeah, that's nice.
yeah. maybe we'll just make some next week. Let's just make some for the first party. Why not?
Oh my god, yeah.
Oh my god, yeah.
No, thank you. No, I'm joking. Oh yeah, I'm, I mean, Lily is really excited.
I bet.
yeah,
any entertainment going on?
Well, no, I'm, Richard kept saying about getting a magician and I'm like, no, I just don't know what it is.
when she's like five.
one's going to appreciate that. And I find them a little bit cringe, no offence to any magicians, but I just, I'm easily cringed out and I just, I just couldn't. So,
many hours is, what time does it even start?
starts at two, finishes at six.
Oh,
So, yeah. Yeah, yeah, we'll have music on and then there's loads of food, cake. I've got a soft, I've hired a soft play thing for the kids because there's a few kids coming.
Yeah.
and obviously Lily and yeah, my nephew. So, um, They'll have that and bits and bobs, but I was gonna do I might do like some you know, like when you go to Um, I don't know hen party and stuff. You have those little fun games that you do Like guess this and that I might do some of them But to be honest with you a lot of it's going to be like catching up with family
exactly.
then it was kind of like two to six but coming in and out as you please
Yeah.
so yeah, I think it'll be All right without any to be honest with you
don't think it, like you say, when people are, this is the same discussion we have with weddings, isn't it? When
Yeah
reception hour and a half is too long, and it's like, yeah, but when people haven't seen each
Oh, yeah, it
time,
quick, doesn't it?
exactly, everyone's catching up.
Yeah.
been, then, other than planning the ultimate party of the year? The next wedding? Wedding number two? Wedding
That's it. It's the biggest event of the year. Um, yeah, no, it's been good to be honest. I've been prepping for Valentine's Day, so it's coming up, coming up thick and fast. Um, so we've got, I don't know, just under a month now till it's here. And, uh,
started putting in orders?
yeah.
are,
Some people are early. Yeah, some people are. Yeah, some people are early and some people are literally like lastminute. com. Mainly lastminute. com, so I have to just like prepare for that, but
Mm
I've just been trying to like advertise for that. Um, and doing bits and bobs and then, uh, I've also probably going to be doing a bit of freelancing over Valentine's Day.
Yeah.
as well, just in London for a bit. another company. Um, so obviously I can
Valentine's weekend as well. Fifty, on the fifteenth.
Have you?
because Valentine's is a Friday, isn't it?
Yeah, it's a good, actually it's, yeah, it's a good day of the week this year.
Yeah.
Yeah, I always like it when it's like over the, over a weekend or a Friday because you get more orders because people are more likely to be like doing
at home, or yeah,
Yeah.
Yeah, next year's gonna be the Saturday, so that's gonna be
be a popular date. Yeah. Have you got any weddings for next year, Valentine's?
not yet, but it's a bit early
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, a bit early at the
Fair enough.
Yeah, maybe coming into like March, April time this
Yeah.
get one. But yeah, we took this one only probably in time. Um, so yeah,
Yes, that's quite, yeah. I was going to say, that's pretty.
yeah,
yeah. yeah. So Valentine's Day prep. And then also, I've got to mention because it, I was just, when it happened I was like, I must mention it here. I had this really weird delivery situation, so I was delivering a bouquet to somebody Um, and I was like, I mean, I presume they don't listen to the podcast because they were not in my demographic, but anyway
Right, fine.
And they were like, oh Basically went to the door not the door big house I'd gone to one of the many doors and I was just sort of standing there like a lemon and they come out of appeared From an from round the back. Oh, hello. Are they for me? Oh, are they for me? But they were not really offended and I was like, um, yeah
what?
I was like, well yeah, they're for you, it's your name, blah blah, and they were like, yeah. Oh, and then they wouldn't take them from me. Well, who are they from? Well, who are they from? I was like, well, I can't, I don't know, like, I've just, I mean, I did know, but I was like, I don't know. Oh,
like, the person, do they get the option to like, leave a note or
Yeah, so there was a card on there. I was like, well, maybe you should read the card.
Yeah.
And then she just was like staring at me, like, and I was just staring at her, like, with this bouquet, and she just wouldn't read it.
stalker or something.
that's, that's what immediately started to think, I was like getting all like, hot and flustered. I was like, oh no, here we go, another stalker situation, for fucks sake. So, anyway, this goes on for a few minutes, and I'm like, now I'm starting to be like, look, I really want to go off of your, I was like thinking, I started thinking like, is this some weird, is she like a weird serial killer? And she's like, just trying to like, I don't know, trap me in her home.
She was like standing in front of me and I couldn't leave and I was like, what is happening? She was like, well, who are they from? Who are they from? I was like, maybe you should read the card
Yeah.
I can't tell you.
card!
I said I can't tell you. Yeah at this point I was like Anyway, she just she reads the card and she says oh they're from whatever whoever you know, blah blah
Yeah, Blah
blah blah and I was like, well, why have they sent me flowers? Oh, that's it. She was like, oh Who's that's it. Sorry. The message was I've come to thanks for having me to stay
Yeah.
was like well who stayed and I was like
know!
was like well who stayed at my house she was I've had loads of people to stay I was like, okay How many people have you had here for a star? But also what I don't know. What am I gonna know? I'm just the florist delivering the bouquet.
yeah,
and then she's like, oh from whoever it was at the bottom and she's like, oh You Oh, and it was just, it was an initial, so then, so then it, she didn't, she didn't have a clue, right, so then she's like, oh my god, so in the end, I, I, I just had to tell her who it was, which you shouldn't really do, but I was like, do you know what, I can't, I need to leave,
yeah,
I said it was from this person, she's like, oh, but they're not coming to stay until tonight. And I was like, why are they, how weird, why would they send me flowers now? I was like, probably to say thank you, the message was thanks for having me.
yeah.
got them on when, before they come, is it? And to say, like, say they appreciated you having them. And I was like, what have I got to explain this to you?
did well because I'd have literally dumped him on the
Literally, I'm still holding them, like, they're heavy. I was just like, what the hell, man? And, uh,
Oh no,
she takes them, she's just sort of really, really odd. Really odd.
odd.
is weird, isn't it?
swinger.
Wow, yeah, for how many people you gotta stay in here, mate? Like,
you're
what? Jesus.
why are you
Yeah, well,
you know?
I'm just a swinger, I'll just get what I want, I'll just get what I want and then see you later, I don't need any flowers. So yeah, that was my weird situation of the week, but,
really
it was all, I had to mention it, yeah.
And, and, and at no point she didn't like cheer up, like, oh yeah.
No, no, deadpan, deadpan face, like serious.
bye. Or
She didn't even say thanks. She took her and walked in she went how weird like that and I was like, you're welcome You're so welcome.
Oh my god.
drove away and I was just like what? Oh
going to like a supermarket, I'm guessing they spent a few bob on these flowers to
Yeah,
have
yeah just to say thanks for having them to stay yeah, it's like a over 40 pound jobby
maybe the person that's coming to stay knows our house is a bit smelly or something, so they thought, well I'll pre arrange some flowers and
Wonder if I said that to her
Yeah, to make sure that
This must be why
better
yeah
a bit more life to the house. Maybe it's like a grandkid or something that just thought of Did they order them from your website? Yeah. so you didn't have a chat with them or anything, yeah.
No.
weird.
It was so weird.
yeah,
So weird, but yeah.
Talking of weird situations,
Oh.
obviously we kind of like, briefly touched on going back to Gavin and Stacey again.
Oh no. Yeah. Yeah.
now. Yes, we had a leaving at the altar situation. Now I don't know about you, Hayley, but working in the wedding industry, I get asked this all the time. Mm hmm. Like, have you ever seen anyone who you limp? That's like one of the first things people ask me when they know I work in the wedding industry. Has anyone left anyone at the altar? Is probably like, the top question I get.
I always want to know. It's like the biggest gossip of the year if that's happened. Like,
I mean,
need to know.
but.
It's awful. It's awful.
so we're gonna spill here. We're gonna tell you all the tea now.
Oh,
I mean, the only tea I've got is been in the industry now for 15 years managing weddings. I've probably, I need to kind of sit and work it out again but I've probably managed close to a thousand weddings
crazy.
never ever ever had that
No, no. Yeah,
it? Like, would actually ever
do that. I would just go through with it and then annul it or whatever. Oh,
But I do think, yeah, I don't know if it, do you reckon it's one of those things that, like, people do, because I do feel like it's one of the first things people ask me, so it is on consciously on people's minds, because TV show that, so what,
yeah.
there's a lot of TV situations on the TV,
Well, they dramatize it, don't they? Yeah, like massively. Then you genuinely end up thinking when you're like, Get married, oh my god, imagine if, like, you know when they say if anyone's got anything to
anything to
Anything to declare, then you, there's like a silence and you're just like, oh my god, I hope that doesn't happen. Yeah, like
always like, oh, and then the
a joke.
about, oh.
It's not funny!
or like, especially if like a kid like, laughs, like, or like, like, you know, when a baby makes a noise,
Yeah,
or something,
and you're like, oh,
it,
and everyone laughs. Yeah.
like, and like laughs, and you're just like,
it's like, get a life. Get a life.
a couple of times in Gavin and Stacey, because also, Smithy Nessa's wedding to Dave, didn't he?
Oh, yeah.
and did the whole, I know you don't love him, and then, and then, which always baffles me, because then the, characters were like, you know, Dave is like, you don't love me and I'm thinking, well,
Heh.
are you freaking marrying? Well, how
why, why have you got this far?
of the
How have you got there and then realised that? Save the embarrassment. Save the drama. And just, send a, send a text.
a text.
Pre wedding. Yo, hi, sorry, can't do this, bye.
You see this a lot on telly though, don't you? When it's like, They just don't turn up and then you think that that person's like got ready and everything got in their dress
Yeah.
that's a thousand times. I was like, I would rather someone leave me the day before The no on the day like even friends. We had that whole monica chandler situation Oh, you're not a friends fan but You know
Sorry.
missing in the morning and they're trying to find him and it's like But you know that that person's getting ready
Yeah.
get in a dress and they've got to get back out of it like That there could be no worse situation. Carrie
I was about to say Sex and the City, yeah. Devastating. Devastating.
yeah, I can't actually remember what happened there. What,
Well she, she goes, well he turns up doesn't he in the car and then he just drives off. And then she's like, oh my god, and she's like, looks like she's having a heart attack but she's actually like,
would be there first,
yeah.
huge
Massive yeah, and she's like I remember she comes out and he's like he drives away And then she just like throws the bouquet, and there's like a real slow mo the bouquet falls on the floor And she's like oh, oh my god, then she just I mean
It's very dramatic,
dramatic, but yeah normally he would be there first surely That's not that's not really like true to
I can't, yeah,
Reality is there
if he then walks out
He just drives away in the car. He goes, I'm sorry, I can't do this or something. And then just drives away. I mean, how savage is that? Just left at the sidewalk, like.
the fact all the guests are there. Right, so, my next question is then, what would you do? Because
my God.
you this story, and then you can tell me what you
Yeah.
So I actually had this conversation with a friend just before Christmas, and I was talking about like, again, I think she said to me, Have you ever had anyone leave at the altar? And I was like, no, no. And she
Doesn't happen at a Hannah Rose wedding.
Not, not one of my weddings. I won't let that happen.
jokes. You will stay there and you will get married.
Yeah, I'll get a quick stand in and she was telling me that this was she said it was a must have been she was trying to work it out But she said it must have been even about six or seven years ago and her partner went to a wedding Basically somebody just come through like a family member and was like it was at the church or whatever or um I can't remember if she said it was at the church or the ceremony.
Anyway, she, they basically said look, it's not happening now, but please can you stay and go on to the reception? So they're all a bit like, oh, this is weird. So anyway, they kind of went to the reception having drinks and stuff and then everybody's like, oh, we're still gonna sit down for dinner. So they went and sat down
Wow.
and then the bride joined them.
Bloody hell.
And yeah, basically he decided not to get married anymore, but she was determined to carry on. And um, yeah,
Wow.
said it was the weirdest day. And it was one of those days where you're like, we, I really want to leave because it's really weird.
Yeah, it's awkward.
think if you're not a kind of wedding person and you're a bit like, if you don't know them that well either, she was saying that they were a good friend. But like, Not as close to her other
You'd just feel so terrible for them, wouldn't you? like,
she just, she just cracked on,
Bloody hell. Fair play. Oh,
I've actually seen a video like this recently on TikTok. I don't know if you've seen it, I
I think, yeah.
version.
Yeah, I have. I have. That's it. Yeah, the bride's maid coming. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And I've seen that she's recently like got engaged again or she's with someone else. Yeah, she's met someone else. Yeah, I mean, you know, that wouldn't happen to the normal person. She's obviously got famous
Yeah.
doing that on TikTok or whatever. And now like now everyone's following her life, but,
Yeah, That's very true. but,
but,
do
oh,
in the morning, you know, you were ready
yeah.
was like, uh, look, you know, your mum comes up to you, Hayley, he's not coming.
To,
you
be honest with you, I would be debating how long I would have to spend in prison if I murdered him, to be fair. Completely honest with you. I'd be like, 25 years? Ah, it's alright. You know, I'll just Do that.
I Did 25
was so, I'd be so angry. I'd be obviously, I'd be devastated. You'd be devastated wouldn't you? I'd be in the embarrassment. I'd get easily embarrassed anyway. That would be like my ultimate embarrassment,
and I think that's where I think that's why it's not a common thing
Yeah. Yeah. Totally. Yeah, exactly.
And yeah, that's but that could potentially happen Which again they're an arsehole because they should have told you a week before but
I would just wait till the
like,
day.
would you just suddenly make that
I just,
very disrespectful.
totally, I feel like if it's not, I don't know, imagine if someone's like, look, I don't love you anymore. I just, I don't know, would you just go through with it just to show face? Like, at this point, obviously, there's,
it.
there's no, but like, everything's booked, everything's paid for, you wouldn't get,
he
you
like,
know,
he's not going through with it. Absolutely
oh,
with it.
yeah.
still carry on with the
No, no. Uh,
you spent all this money. Like, you're not getting any refunds. Like, that food is made, those staff are there, photo booth is there, the photographer's there, like, you ain't getting no refunds.
I don't think I would, I think I'd be too upset.
the flowers are in, like, you wouldn't be giving any refunds, would you, for your flowers? They're there,
oh my god, no, nothing, that's it.
same with me, you've had my time.
Yeah, you've had more time, so deal with it. I don't know, that's a hard question because I feel like part of me would be like, well, what a waste of money, might as well make the most of it, but I just don't know whether I'd Can you imagine all the questions you'd be getting all day?
yeah,
Ah, no, I think
wouldn't attend, but I'd feel like I'd maybe encourage other people, or I'd be like, can you just like put out a blast on Facebook or like run around the hotels if there's anyone that quickly wants to
Yeah. Oh my god, I got an idea!
to the wedding!
Yeah, free wedding!
to have a staff bite or
yeah,
be such a waste of
Such a waste, I'll be devastating though. I just honestly I couldn't imagine. I remember the night before my wedding Like I had so me and bridesmaids and um, so my mom dad and my close family stayed at the hotel We all stayed there because we're getting ready there and whatever for the next day and we all had like a dinner and um I think, so, one of our, one of, one of my bridesmaids other half is, was also a groomsman and he was staying with Richard
Mm.
and uh, he'd like messaged my friend and was like, oh Richard's being a bit weird or something, I don't, yeah, or said something along those lines and I was like, she told me, yeah. She told me that, and I was like, oh my god, literally never, ever, ever, would ever, ever doubt anything to do, like, me and Richard are like, we're tight, yeah, we're like,
you, I doubt
we're, you know, seriously, like, I just, and, but you know what, I was so, there was so much going on, genuinely. Actually, genuinely got to me. It got to me for about half an hour. I had like a panic. I went off to the loo. And his sister was also staying with me. And she was like, you alright? And I was like, no. Do you know what? And I got quite upset about it. And I was like, and then so she messaged him like, Don't know what the fuck's going on. Don't know what's going on. But,
Yeah.
Basically,
on her.
messaged, um,
Yeah. Yeah.
and it's really made Haley feel on edge, like, what, you know, and he was just like, I don't know what's been said, but I'm just tired, he'd been running around all day, collecting everything, and he was just tired, so they were just shit stirring, basically,
Oh
which is annoying, isn't it, really, when you think about it.
believe that she would sit there and tell you. I
I wouldn't say anything, would you? I wouldn't say anything because he wasn't, but why, why, why is it a discussion? Do you know what I mean? He wasn't acting weird. He was tired because, because, um, sorry to say, but unlike his mate, he was actually doing like, like quite a lot of stuff.
Yeah, like he, he was running around that day before.
Yeah.
stuff up,
He was putting a shift in. Putting a shift in.
day about the linen and that. Like, you got, so he was like dropping things like that off. And, um, yeah, he, he was a busy bee,
Yeah.
Also, I think it's very different. Obviously you see your friends in like a social environment. But when you're actually staying with them the night before, especially when it's something big. Like, he probably does just chill out in the evening. Now, you probably wouldn't notice any difference in behavior, whereas people that aren't with him in the evening when
Yeah, it's probably like, oh, he's acting weird.
Yeah, do you know what I mean,
I mean, fancy telling me though, I literally like,
can't believe
I was like,
you.
Oh my god, yeah, I honestly like,
I kind of get the friend maybe mentioning it,
Shame on her.
know what to do. But then
And,
it out Aww,
was like 20 red roses in this beautiful bouquet. Wh His sister bought them with her when she turned up to the hotel the day before. Like, with a really nice, like, card with a really nice message inside.
Yeah, so
I was like, I mean, if you were gonna ditch someone at the hotel Ha ha ha!
be doing
Yeah, also, I mean, I just don't feel like He just wouldn't do that and,
No.
I mean
cost you a pretty penny, so.
I mean, innit? Ha ha ha!
doing that.
I just couldn't, yes, that's my little story. But you can see how people,
didn't
do set in, even if you know and you've been with someone for years, like, the night before. Honestly, you get that fear of, oh, what if actually they don't want this, or, I don't know.
Oh yeah, no. I mean, like, I had that on the morning where, like, I wasn't, like, nervous or anything, but you have got, like, a lot on your mind. So,
Yeah.
uh, one of my bridesmaids, like, asked me about, like, oh, where are we putting this stuff? Where about? And I was just, like, can you stop asking me questions?
Yeah.
just got, like,
Can
million things on
not?
like, you know? And, like, people can be a bit like that. And look how stressed I was the day
Yeah.
Like, like, you're in a quite a high situation
Yep.
kind of person like me who says like who vocally is stressed or they're stressed inside So they're staying quiet.
Yeah.
Yeah. you yeah, think it's very normal that people are gonna be acting a little bit different
Yeah. I think so.
last Couple of weeks up to it, you know, it's a lot. There's a lot going on.
There is, there is a lot going on and I think as well, you're kind of in a vulnerable situation in some ways because you're like, you don't traditionally, you don't spend that day or night before with your partner and it gives you that space apart to kind of be like, Oh,
percent
Oh, this is happening.
was like when I Um, like, say I buy, like, a new piece of clothing and I'm not sure about it. I'll always say to Martin, Oh, what do you think? Like, I'll always ask his opinion. And things like, your wedding dress. Just little things like that, like, Oh my god, is he actually gonna like it? Do you know what I mean? Because obviously it's the one thing that you wear that you
Yeah.
other half to love. Like, yeah, I'm the kind of person that's like, Even if he didn't like it and I love that, Like say I came home in a top and he was like, God, that is awful. I'd just be like, well, I love it. So I'm
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
like with your wedding dress, you kind of want them to
To like it. Yeah. Yeah, I kept, like, wanting to show Richard.
yeah.
did. I had to stop myself. Because he's like, like you say, he's the person I always,
Yeah.
I always ask their, like, his opinion. So I was like, oh, well, but then I didn't. But I did show him the ones that I had tried on that I didn't like. I was like
seen like people on TikTok and stuff who were like, you know, getting rid of this tradition. I'm going wedding dress shopping with my husband to be because
Fair enough.
go
yeah, that's true,
I
though.
if you've
Well, it is. I really feel like all of these traditions, like we spoke about it when we first started the podcast, didn't we? But all of these traditions are, I feel like they're just going out the window a little bit. Like people are just doing what they want to do. They're like making their own traditions. I love that. I really do. But,
I think it's the thought that like, oh, you're not gonna get that same reaction when
Yeah.
you. That would be my first thought. But then I suppose, do you get that react I don't feel like I got that reaction from Martin because of what I was wearing. It was probably just like
The fact that you're, yeah, like you're about to get married and,
was wearing in that second, you know. Um,
It just always makes me laugh because, um, we had little, like, microphones on Richard and his best man when he, when I was walking down the aisle and Richard's going, Is she got her hair up or down? Is her hair up or down? Because I'd kept talking to him about, I don't know if it's had my hair up or down.
Yeah.
so jokes. Ah! Aw, that's
How funny, But yeah, so going back to my story anyway, I
Yeah.
otherwise people are going to
Please do.
oh my god,
Yes.
Yeah, so I basically, this was years and years ago when I worked in hotels, and we'd done the wedding, and the next day, we used to always do a thing where we'd put all your bits to one
Yeah.
come the next day, pack up the car, off they'd
Yeah.
And, um, she came on her own with her mum, which was quite weird, because Normally, the other half, you know, they've stayed in the honeymoon
Yeah.
for breakfast together and then come and pack up their bits or whatever.
Well, I'll tell you this. Richard went with his best man to get all of our stuff while I stayed in bed. Ah! Ha, ha, ha, ha. Oh, okay. Fair enough. Oh, yeah. That's different. Yeah, yeah. Sorry. yeah,
sense. But yeah, so they'd come down together, get their stuff off. They go and we'd have a little chat anyway, it wasn't there. And I kind of said, Oh, like, you know, where's I can't remember what his name was now, but, and then she was just like, Oh yeah, she didn't really say a lot. And she was really weird. Like normally that'd be like, Oh my God, I had the best
Yeah, like, oh my god, it was so good, yeah.
was really a bit weird and her mom didn't say a lot and they just kind of got their stuff and went like as quick as possible. And then. About a week, two weeks later, one of the ladies in the office knew of her, of her family and was like, by the way, because I'd kind of mentioned it in the office that I'm a bit worried like if
Yeah.
or whatever, so I hadn't sent like, normally we'd send an email to say like, hope
Better not.
Yeah, for God, what's
Might get a bad review.
Yeah,
Ha ha ha ha ha ha. Don't want to poke the bear.
yeah, and yeah, he apparently, the next morning, he'd got up really early after the wedding, he'd, um, like, had basically said to her, I need to go back to my mum's because the dog is sick. And they think it's gonna die. And she was
What?
But it's like the morning of our, well like we just got married. And he, so he just rushed off. She couldn't really stop him. And then he messaged her, he even messaged her or rang her from his
That's horrendous. That's horrendous. He messaged or rang her.
was, they were, I think that they were getting married because of his job, so he had to move away for work, I think he was in like, the, like, services industry, I think he was in like the army or something like that. She had to, um, so I think they had to be married for her to be able to
Oh my gosh.
wherever he was going to be living for his job.
Yeah. Yeah.
um, Although, I don't know if that's the thing. I don't know. But anyway, she, uh, so they'd got married. Don't know if that's the reason, but anyway, the worst was she'd, like, given up her job and everything, like, her home,
Oh.
they were about to
Oh, that's horrendous. Oh, I feel for her. Yeah.
a nice wedding as well. Like they'd, you know, we got the same kind of weddings, but there's always that one that went the extra mile
yeah.
flowers and the big cake and whatever. um, yeah, he just said, well, your dad had spent a lot of money. So I wanted you to like, be able to have that day or whatever.
Oh my god. I always wonder as well what the parents do in that situation, because I can tell you now, if Richard did that to me, my dad would be hunting him down. Serious. Yeah, and his. Yeah, and his.
believe that
Yeah, totally.
that way, like
Totally. I thought it was my child, and they were doing that to someone. I'd be like, I think you need to have a good look at yourself. Unless there's a genuine reason what, like, as in, like, they've done something to seriously, you know, hurt your, hurt your feelings or something, you know,
So I
break your trust.
where it's like, Yes, we love to listen to it. Yes, goths, like, my
Yeah.
I appear to
Oh my god.
the same time, it's, it is sad for
Yeah, that is sad.
I'm sure it works out well in the end. I'm sure that they're happy with other people now, innit?
Everything happens for a reason, that's what I always say. But yeah.
to the listeners questions and messages?
Yep, so we've got a lovely question here from one of our brilliant listeners. So it says, Hi, I love the podcast. Thank you very much.
you.
I don't know what I would do without it as I don't have a wedding coordinator. There was an episode Hannah mentioned the wedding singers and I straight away called them to book, which is really good. I love that.
there are
Um, shout out to the wedding singers.
Yeah, shut
Please pay us for advertising.
Where's our
Yeah, it was like a mish. Just to let you know,
worries.
Hannah, they wanted the name of the podcast. And I just want to say thank you for all the great tips. Anytime. Um, as a listener question, I wanted to ask if you have any more entertainment ideas. Our ceremony is at two and we of course have a canapé hour and start cutting the cake in the afternoon. I'm worried our guests will be bored. What can couples do to entertain guests after the ceremony up to when dinner starts?
So we do have an episode on this. Can't remember what number it is. But it's back there somewhere.
about there somewhere. I think it, well I think it was like five episodes ago I'm gonna say. Yeah.
we covered kind of the things, but we also kind of said that you don't need to worry too much
Yeah.
reception time,
Go so fast.
if your ceremony is at 2, ceremony will be at 2 till 2. 30. Drink reception, I would say 2. 30 till 4. And then start sitting your guests at 4 to then start having your meal at half past 4.
Yeah.
If you're doing a cake cutting as well, do that before. The only time you do your cake cutting though, really. If you're, as if you're having it for your dessert, so you then do it before you sit down, so then the caterers have got it ready. Um, but yeah, you, you're not going to be sitting down until four. By the time you've done meal and speeches and all that jazz, it's going to be seven o'clock, ready for your seven dance and your
Yeah.
um, yeah, so an hour and a half,
It's not long.
No,
I was gonna say.
you, you're going to be getting loads of pictures and stuff so you're not going to notice it. Yeah, your guests are just chatting and stuff, aren't they? Like, it goes so quick, doesn't it? I think this is one of the biggest concerns that I get from people is, wow, and I have actually had this whole conversation with one of my couples this weekend. They're like, wow, hour and a half, that's like really long
No.
a drinks
It's not.
really
Also, if you try to start doing any kind of activity or entertainment within that time, it's not long at all. I was thinking you could do something like a little like, I've seen this recently, we do like a time capsule. So you like take a Polaroid and then you write like, like wishes and memories and stuff and you put it and then
Yeah.
open it on your 10th wedding anniversary if you make it that far, or something like that. And by
cute.
is a nice idea, but I do feel like. if you put that out during drinks reception, an hour and a half to get through like 100 guests doing that,
Yeah.
long enough. So really, that's something that you probably just have
a full
in the evening, like just out for people to do, but you can have it out for people to do. And some might do it during the drinks reception. Some might do it later on during like the party or whatever. So, um,
are just chatting
yeah, you got canapes and
It's a
drinks are flowing.
around a guestbook and stuff, if that
Yeah, yeah.
people, encouraging people to sign that is a good
People will be taking selfies and catching up and everything. I really don't think people need to worry. But like we've said before, in terms of entertainment, live music, if you
Yeah.
can incorporate that somewhere within your drinks perception, that's quite a nice kind of way to break it up, I think.
is. Yeah, I heard there's like an acoustic singer for
Yeah, I love that.
surprised that you can get, if you've just got to sing, like, one person on their own. It's not a huge cost. Um, but also garden games are so popular, like your giant jengas and your koits and your croquet on the lawn. People love stuff like that. Um, I've had quite a few couples lately have the live painters, which work
yeah. Yeah, that's quite nice. Different, isn't it?
but yeah, go back to that episode anyway. We've,
We went, we went well into detail.
see new things that people are doing that we think work really well, we will mention it, but yeah, we, we personally, from experience of weddings, our own weddings, and you know, we just always think that you don't need a lot.
No.
you, everybody overthinks that time
Totally. Yeah, I agree, yeah.
actually if you start trying to squeeze things in, Actually is quite difficult, doesn't get used or is quite difficult. You know, I've had couples hire garden games and stuff before and they don't get touched. And,
Yeah, it's just like a waste of money, innit? Yeah.
it is. Cool.
so I've also got another one here. So I have a question for you, Hayley. What do you do when you've got to wait around for the whole reception to finish to then pack away the flowers? Do you get involved with the party or do you have to hide? Do you have to hide away somewhere?
on the dance floor. Well, you mentioned about this last week with the Savoy, didn't you? Was it
Yeah, just like slumming it on a sofa somewhere down below in the, in the dungeon.
Yeah.
Oh, that's funny.
involved. We normally
Yeah.
room, right? So we normally like arrange an area where there's normally like, if the couple are nice I'll buy a series of snacks and stuff, but normally like we just bring our own stuff
That's it. You just hide. Hide away.
your bags and yeah.
depends as well how far away the venue is from like where I live or where like I work because I To be honest with you like even if it's like an hour away And if I've got say if I finish setting up a wedding, I don't know Two o'clock and then I've got to go back at one in the morning well, I'll just go home even if it's like two hours away because Um, I'll go home, get some rest or whatever and just chill out and then I'll go back in the evening. Like I don't tend to stay there to be honest.
Um, but yeah, like if I do, then I just, like you say, if there, there's either a crew room or I will sort of, I dunno, go somewhere else. Sometimes I get a hotel if it's far, like far away and then just go to the hotel and then go back. So, yeah.
lot of florists as well, like, tend to have like They don't come back. It's not them that comes at the end of the night, like they have other people that
my gosh. Yeah. So I actually, so unfortunately I do, 'cause I. I have to, but
She's a
but, um, I, um, followed this guy on Instagram and he's called like Dan with a flower van and his whole business is he's basically does that for florists. So he just hires himself out of his van and he'll like go and de rig like weddings and installations and stuff and you just pay him and he goes and does it for you. And I'm not being funny, but that'd be money well spent.
100%.
spent. Like as a florist, when you've done all of that work. Well, yeah, you just, you might have to put, you know, you put that expense on your customer at the end of the day,
you,
but
as the same as that you put in your own time and your flower
Yeah
work that cost in, don't
Exactly
100 percent worthwhile.
this is amazing I mean, obviously I knew people did that before but I just not never really sort of Thought about it, I guess
that I've worked with before do
lot of london weddings do don't they?
Yeah. Yeah, because otherwise, yeah, it's a lot, especially if you're doing back to back weddings, and you've got to be back
Yeah
in the morning. You're not,
Ain't nobody got time for that. Yeah
yeah. Well,
Cool. I think
