We've already had a message in this morning from a very excited bride to be she sent us a message to say that they got engaged and their proposal was during a festive light trail in their local area they'd gone to. So they'd gone through the festive light trail and then he proposed at the end

So happy Christmas engagement. So basically the reason we are doing this engagement special is this is, I think they say there's like, it's like 50 or 60% of couples get engaged during December. So that's, that's a lot, isn't it? So.

I thought that was really cool. I think if it's like your sister or like your best friend, like if one of my best friends ever asked now rang me and was like, can I propose at your wedding? I'd say, fuck off, It's my fucking day.

Anyway, at the end of the film my mom and dad like sort of went off, but my mom kept going, I need my, she bought her own Chuney to eat with the Cheeseboard. She wouldn't leave. She wouldn't leave. My dad was like dragging her away. I was like, what's going on? she gets a,

So funny. And then Richard, I turned around. Richard literally got on his, I all sat down, he got on one knee

And asked me and all of like, so Richard's mom and his sisters, my brother, everybody was all waiting at the top.

So mine, as you'll see on my Instagram, so basically it's a little bit actually back to like, you know, a place a, a place that you think is romantic somewhere that, you know, you, you first. So I always said like, one of my best memories of us being together was when we first called Snowden. Like

it was like this.

Yeah, like we, we are like massively into climbing. Everyone that knows us knows we're big into climbing now. But, you know, and hiking mountains and all those, quite outdoorsy. But I would say that was like the start of that hobby for us. Like, I don't, I think some friends had said to us, do you wanna climb snow and blah, blah, blah, blah. So we'd gone out, bought all the boots and stuff, and I just like loved it.
We had such good conversations on the way up, like when we got to the top, it was such a sense of achievement afterwards, you just Feel like this adrenaline. And we just had a really nice evening afterwards, so it always said like, that was probably one of my favorite moments of us together. So yeah, we went and Martin decided, he was like, it was a weekend in August, and he was like, oh, let's go to Wales. Let's go climb Snowden again. And I was like, okay, cool.
Turned out to be like, one of the weekends, it was like the hottest of the year or something. I know. So I kept saying, oh, are we, are we really gonna have to climb? This could be really hot. And then we had, so we have a van that we converted during lockdown. So then we had a problem with the brakes on the van. So we're literally driving this van. I said to Martin, like, why don't we just like, not go, like, we'll just do something. We'll do it another weekend.

Yeah. So
I'm
literally we're driving to Wales in this bloody van with no breaks working and it was really weird 'cause Martin's not like that. He's quite like a safety per, you know, he likes to be careful about things so.

Yeah, literally he was like that. Yeah. So on the day, obviously, I'm literally in like my hiking shorts, my boots and my hiking t-shirt, And we, we'd climb Snowden and it was really, really hot. And then when you get to the top of Snowden, anyone that's climbed Snowden will know. It's like tourist paradise, like it's just heaving so many people. So he, he'd said to me before, I will climb Snowden. Then we'll go across to the next peak. So you kind of almost come down a bit and then go back up.
Which is a challenge in itself, But I, I, I love the idea of it, and I, he, he was, he'd already climbed that mountain with his friend and was like, you know, it's a really good climb. You'll love it. It's really fun. And I was like, okay, okay, cool. Sounds good. But obviously on the day it was so hot and I was like, Martin, I don't think, you know,
I can't
look, look at the color of my skin. Like I'm so pale. Like I'm the bit sun's beaming on me.

Literally. I got to the point where I was like nearly teary. I was like, I don't, I, I just wanna get down now and we're done. Like I cannot face climbing another mountain. And then something in my head was just like. To sort yourself out, Hannah, like, you've been really looking forward to this. There's a bit of heat. Like, get over it, stop. Have some lunch, have some water. So we did that and then I was fine and then we climbed it and then he proposed at the top, I wanna say it's called,

I pronounce it as ili. We, the the, the Welsh will. Literally slate me for calling it that because it's pronounced like or something like that. But yes, it was, there was nobody else there. It was just us. It was a really fun climb. Yeah. And he proposed at the top and yeah, it was amazing. But yeah, he, so Martin's big into like. Drone in photography. So he'd got his, the way he did it was he got his drone up and this is very normal for us.
He'll always get me to stand on the edge of the mountain, get a picture of me, like from behind mountains in the background kind of thing. And so then I thought he was obviously just filming, filming. And then when I turned around he then had the ring and but loads of people commenting on my Instagram, like obviously you knew there was a drone there. I'm like that's very normal for us,
that's what we normally do. I just, I remember watching the video and I was like, was like,

Honestly, I was so shocked.

I genuinely do You know what, we had this conversation the other day. He was like, were there moments like during our relationship that you thought that I was gonna propose? And I was like, yeah. There was a couple of times like that I thought. Oh, oh, that, you know, when you like your belly goes. And I remember we went to New York for my 30th birthday and I always said, there's no way he'll propose in New York. Is too obvious.
And but the amount of people that like hyped me up, like, no, he's gonna propose, he's gonna propose. And I thought, oh my God, he's gonna propose

you know what we did? We actually didn't tell anyone for two days after we got engaged. Yeah. 'cause we were in Wales. We then were staying there anyway for like another couple of days. So his books like this really cool like lodge for us to stay in the next night with a hot tub and stuff. And we just kind of like cut off the, from the world for a couple of days and then when we got back, like video called everyone and stuff and it was actually really nice to just like, to just enjoy it.

I think it's like,

it's just like straight away that first, like even before you start thinking about planning the wedding, I do think it's like, you know, who are you gonna tell first and how you gonna announce it? And you know, if you go on to Google and type in like engagement, like the top questions are like, how do I announce my engagement and.
Yeah, I feel like there is, there's excitement, but there is also that overwhelm and then suddenly it's like Pinterest boards and then Instagram, you type in wedding and then that's it. So you get shoved in your face for the next however long.
You've got no escape. But
I think it's just really understanding that like to not be overwhelmed and just trying to take it in its stride, you know, start from the steps that we always advise

and just, yeah, just like you say, just enjoy it. Enjoy

I was straight away in my head like, I'm gonna get married next year, 2023, and get married. And then actually, when you think about it, I. In perspective when we sat down, I was like, well, a already had weddings booked for like my business. So there's no way I was gonna be able to get married in like May, June. And also I, we then looked at, you know, what we wanted to spend and I'm so glad that we waited another year because.
You know you know, extra things have, have happened in our lives and we've been able to, you know, forward, you know, other thi you know, other things that we'd love to have had. If we'd have done it last year and just kind of rushed it, we probably wouldn't have been able to do that.
So I'd say like, you know, and there are people that will get engaged now, you know, there's a lot of couples that I work with that is probably predominantly my kind of couple, is that who will get engaged at Christmas and wanna get married to, you know, next August, September, October time. Absolutely fine. But I think just don't even kind of Put a date on it straight away until you've sat down and said, right. What kind of wedding do we wanna have? Do we wanna elope? Do we wanna go abroad?
Do we wanna stay in the uk? When do we want, you know, do we want a summer wedding? Do we want a winter wedding? How much money do we wanna spend? How much money do we have already?
budget.
Until you start working those things out, I just wouldn't, you know, some of these things that you see online, what to do when I'm first engaged, set a date. It's not just as easy as setting a date. 'cause if there's a lot of things to work out

external factors, like so many, and a lot of it comes down to like budget and cost.

main thing I think. if you've got longer to save, you can have, you can have more of the things you want and you're not gonna be stretching yourself. And,

Things have changed. And I also just think like a bit like of my situation, it is just life. Like I think if you get engaged now and you look at next year and you go, oh, I've got my best friend's wedding in June who's also having a Hindu. And then I've got my cousin's wedding in September who's also having a Hindu, like sometimes it's nice to just wait another year. And also. I always said, I, once I get engaged, I feel like this is why you didn't propose so soon.
I was like, as soon as that day, I'm engaged. I'm getting married within six months. I'd always said that until obviously I looked at my life and my diary. I couldn't physically do that. Yeah. Like I was, I literally looked at it like I'm already really stacked for next start or next year. Like there's no way I can fit in my own wedding, and I'm so glad. Like I say, I'm glad I didn't because I would've just pushed my My limits ridiculously.
But yeah, I think if you actually look at, you might already have a holiday booked or I think there's no, it actually, when I look at it now, I'm actually kind of glad that I did leave it because I've had like over 18 months to, to look forward to it.

Yeah. And like my friends said to me, you know, my friends and family don't live near me. So we've had to arrange dress fittings and, and look dress shopping and things like that. And actually we've kind of elongated it a little bit because.

Whereas I think imagine if I did that in six months and I'd have like I look at now and I go, wow, I've got five months until I get married. There's no like, no way around like the life that I have and how busy I am in my work and things like that. There's no way I could've done that.

I literally worked up until like couple of weeks before and then I went, I got married and I went on my honeymoon literally a few days later and then

it's really freaking true. It's actually really true. So, yeah, but I suppose like things you can do, you know, when you first get engaged that kind of get the excitement going. So, you know, announcing it to your family is a really nice feeling. Engagement photo shoots. I know you mentioned this to me, which actually is a really good point 'cause I haven't done one. Did you do one?
I, I did. Yeah, I did actually.
My photographer actually emailed me the other day and was like, you really need to get yours book. 'cause we only booked our photographer recently. So she was like, you need to get your engagement sheet booked in. Well, Martin was always a bit like, oh, I'm not bothered about doing one. But actually I'm currently doing our wedding website and I'm actually kind of stru they, we've got some lovely pictures together, all of my clients. So when you.
Log on to with Joy, you can see all like the websites that you're managing. So I've got all my clients and they're mine, and I'm like, there's all got lovely professional engagement photos and mine's just like a picture of us. Like

So these are what we are seeing as planners. We're already planning for, for 2024 weddings. So one being that I'm seeing a lot of is patterned and colored table cloths

But if you go in like, for like, you know, like your, your bright pinks and your crees, or you go in like forest green or navy blue, like, I just think it looks, it makes it really light and airy for it to be white linen, if that makes sense.

We love a candle mixed colors. So I'm doing this for my wedding. So I've got all my bridesmaids are in different, the same color. They're all in green, but different tones. And also I'm just seeing like more people are coming to us instead of just saying, oh, my color palette is I don't know, like sage green and blush pink or navy blue. They've got like a whole array of colors. Like there's a whole color palette going on.
Different, you know, it could be pastel colors or it could be, you know, like I've got greens with tones of reds and pinks thrown in and, you know, I'm, I'm seeing a mixed color palette.
that's nice. had a couple next year that want, they've done the same, so it's spring wedding and they've gone for pastels, but they're happy to use like lemons, like pale blues whites, pale pinks,

We are seeing more. So two here, larger num, a larger numbers. So, 'cause what we found was back after Covid, obviously everybody had these beautiful intimate celebrations. So 2021, even to 2022, people were like, oh, I really want a nice intimate wedding. But 20 23, 20 24 is big. I am like getting big numbers coming in. Like people want the full on big party.
They've had enough of the intimate wedding now
Yeah, they're like, we want the party vibes. Definitely all the people and also Elon getting it to a whole weekend. We're getting a lot of that. Yeah. So whether it's like a night before celebration, maybe not like a dinner, but you know, getting everybody together, pizza van, that kind of thing. Yeah, so we are seeing people that want in like the full weekend, Or we're seeing the next day they wanna do like a brunch or a barbecue and just really like.
Yeah, I think especially if like your guests are traveling in, so we are doing a little, we are just doing like a little breakfast gathering the next day. 'cause all our guests are traveling, they're all staying over. So I just think it's really nice to like then See every, like, you know, make it a bit of a longer experience because otherwise people are just gonna see you for one day. So yeah, that's what we're seeing.
