Hello, hello! Yeah.
the time of recording, we've still not had our second wedding. So, I feel like the whole last episode was just me talking about my wedding. But yeah.
So the next episode will be Hannah talking about her another
Will it? No, it won't. Be a couple episodes time. We've got to do some catching up. Yeah. Yeah, we have. Stay tuned. It'll be once I get back from honeymoon. Then we'll go through the whole lot.
whole thing.
Cool. Should we get started?
Let's do it.

I'm very well. Thank you. And how are you?
I'm good, I'm good. How has your week as a mother been?
It's been all right. It's been all right. Yeah. My baby is actually a very good sleeper, I have to say. I don't
Has she? Don't jinx it!
to jinx it,
No.
feel like I'm very proud to say that. But then I've heard
She's a good girl. Yeah,
girl. I have heard that this is what they do, the first ones. If you're thinking of having two or any more than one, then the first one lures you into a false sense of security with their
and then the next one's a devil.
Yes.
Hmm.
So
Yeah,
but
beware
She's four months nearly now. She's three. Well, she's
Mental
and three weeks. So I can't
is nuts and he's starting to feel the strains of wedding season upon us
Yes. So I'm I'm getting up to a very busy busy week So I've
Hmm
I've got big corporate event in London
nice
and that's the Waldorf Hilton in London, so
be saying nice
I'm very much looking forward to it, but I'm a little bit like, ah, but
Yeah,
it's the same with any event or wedding. I'm
is that it always it's always fine on the day
so I've got, I've got that event coming up and then obviously your wedding.
Yes!
as well, so it's a little
Yep.
busy, but it's exciting. I'm, I'm really pleased to be back in doing
Yeah, in the swing of it.
And then it's kind of like I've got inquiries and stuff actually for July come and come in,
Nah, geez, still, that's nuts.
know.
Yeah.
from a wedding planner actually.
Oh, nice!
yeah, so that's come from a US wedding planner. Who's looking for someone to do the flowers in the UK, a venue that
That's
at
mental! What an So, American Cup, they have hired a planner in the US.
they're, I think they're American. They're coming over.
But the planner is in the US.
the US as well.
That's Yes, I don't understand that.
Yeah, it's a
Yeah, see that never makes sense to me. This is the same as I UK, and I know a lot of planners that do weddings abroad, but it just does not make sense to me. Because if I was getting married in Italy, for example, I would want a wedding planner who's in Italy, knows the language, knows the area, knows the suppliers. Like, look how she's Yeah, like, the planner's just randomly reached out to you. Like, obviously, no offence, you're amazing at what you do. But she doesn't know, like, you know?
You could be any Tom, Dick or Harry. Ha
terrible florist. No, I'm
ha ha ha ha ha!
so
Oh, okay.
she said was she She was in the U. S. and she'd seen my Instagram and basically like my look could fit their kind of brief.
Nice.
so I mean perfect and I think also they found me where I've been tagged at the venue that they're getting married at quite a few
Nice,
there
yeah. Where is it?
Notley Abbey.
Oh, nice, yeah. Oh yeah, of course you do a lot there. Yeah.
and it's, yeah, so lovely venue. So I'm looking forward to hopefully, you know, that
Yeah, amazing!
Yeah, so
But yeah, it is the last minute, isn't it? I've just take recently taken on a couple for full planning. They did have their venue, but we're doing everything else, and their wedding's in September.
Yeah, that's
that's crazy. I did
That's
yeah, full planning.
far.
And we've literally just had a consultation just before I went off for the elopement for a wedding this October. For a full plan.
Oh
They don't even have a venue.
Wow.
I know. It's insane, isn't it?
Wow.
People are just like, yeah. I love a last minute one though. I like, I like the I do like the the challenge of it. Like the oof the time pressure.
Oh,
Yeah. A little bit. Lovely bit of pressure.
wedding industry experts, we thrive on
I feel like we do.
you know,
Yeah.
stress running through my blood, like through my
Yeah. Like if you said to me like, oh, I'm getting married in like three, four months. I'll be like, Asias away.
Yeah, yeah,
Like what? What are you talking about? Like if someone comes to me and their wedding is over a year late, I'm like, I don't even know if I can take you seriously right now.
months left
back, yeah, come back to me when I Because honestly, otherwise, it's just, yeah. Be like, oh, I ain't got to worry about that, yeah. You know?
worry,
Yeah, got
What's the
ages, got ages. Yeah, no, no, I agree with you on that one. But yeah, no, it's good. Wedding season is picking up, isn't it?
up and so like with every wedding I do, I have to do an order list and everything I need to get flower wise, so
Yeah.
going through and organising all that, making sure I'm ahead, and then yeah, just basically just preparing and organising, that seems to be
Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Ha ha ha ha ha! Just, just! Oh dear! Why do you always refer to yourselves as that? Oh dear, you weirdo.
Oh dear. So yeah, in my many years of experience I have found that the more organised I am the better
The bear.
up. The
The more lists. Yeah.
my personal life and my professional life, so
a list for everything.
yes,
Sometimes I forget I've written the list. But
I've got lists everywhere on every pad. I've got about a pad for every day of the week and everyone's got
I'm a,
list
I'm a on the phone gal. So we use the notes app and we also use an app called tasks, which is really good. So we have like a folder for each couple and you can set up like different. So like, I've got a column, Chloe's got a column, we've got like a waiting column and then a done column. And then, so you put your tasks in and then you can move it to like wait. So for example, if you've asked the caterer, I don't know, like how many, I don't know. Oh God, I can't even think.
Wait,
If I
wouldn't know
would know that, he wouldn't know that. Like, oh, okay, so you've asked the caterer for a quote, and then you're waiting for them to respond, you move it to waiting, and then when it's done, you put it in done, like, you know? It's
and is
quite good.
Is that an Apple app or on the
Yeah, it is an Apple app.
It's not like a separate
You do, I pay a subscription for it each year just to get extra, so I can have more projects and stuff, but I think it's literally like 40 quid a year, like, it's really cheap.
Oh, so
Yeah, it's really good. I think
Yeah,
so. Yeah, I think it's on Android. No. And you can set up a widget for it as well, so then you can see, like, your today's tasks, like, on your phone, not on your home screen and stuff, so yeah.
I might have to
I'm a fan of and yeah, Notes app, I love, I'll write all my to do lists in, like, Notes apps and stuff for, like, my own stuff, so.
writing it down on paper, purely
Dear.
me it's cathartic to tick it off. I just love going, oh tick!
Yeah, but you can do that on, like, the Tasks app and on Apple, on, like, cause you can just strike through or, like, tick it in the little tick boxes.
True, I'm
Also, if I write a list, I'll just lose it.
Do you know what the most annoying thing is though? And I
What?
to sort this out. I really need to get more digital. So I do all of my, like, order lists on paper.
What?
I've gone to my workshop to work and I've left the, left my list at home. And basically it's like a recipe for like the bridal bouquet,
Yeah.
what I mean? I know how many stems to put
Many stems.
So now I have to make sure I take photos of it all because
But that's crazy because if you had an Excel spreadsheet and you had like, okay so this wedding like mine for example is 50 guests, you've got six bridesmaids, whatever, you could probably, if you had an Excel spreadsheet with how many stems, yeah it'd probably be similar for each wedding, you could probably change the amount of guests you've got, so the amount of tables and the amount of bridesmaids you've got in a box and it would automatically calculate the amount of stems that you would then
need.
Yeah, I have thought about it, you
Yeah, nah. It would save you so much time, or like, if you, especially if you're doing similar weddings, like, ten table, like, ten round tables and this many bridesmaids, like, it would just be the same.
just adding it up for me. Yeah, I'm not very good. I'm not very good at mental math So
Can you not tell right now, like, you're the creative and on the planner here, or I've just talked about frickin Excel automation.
And I'm like, I just like to write it down and do pretty pictures and doodles everywhere Woo!
I bet she hasn't even started her accounts for this year.
HAHAHAHA Yeah, good, yeah, obviously like I say, we've just taken on a full plan for September so working with those I was back in the office today at the time of recording so catching up with Chloe just to see what's been happening while I've been off for the week yeah, I've got a couple of tastings coming up in this week so a final tasting with one of my couples So the way it works, I wanted to just rock over this a little bit, is so with tastings, if you have a caterer, do you get to try, now
I don't normally eat, I'm normally there.
for you. I'm thinking, oh she's got the
I'll, well,
Yeah,
feed you, some, not, not normally they don't, no, they feed the couple, but I'm there to like, so I'll take photos of all the dishes, I'll write all the notes, every comment that couple is making, I'll be noting it down, because sometimes you would forget by the end when you then feedback to the caterer. They're like, Oh yeah, I like that. And I'm like, Oh yeah, but you mentioned about maybe having this and they're like, Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
And then I put it all into a document for tasting notes for the caterer and send it to them. So everyone's on the same page.
good.
so yeah, one of the things, it's also just a really good opportunity, A, for me to build even more of a relationship with the couple and B, to ask the questions to the caterer. Like when you set it up, what equipment do we need? Are we hiring this? Are you hiring that? Have you got a trailer fridge of it? All these boring logistics bits. We can then discuss. So
Amazing.
It depends which tasting you're doing though. So this is a second tasting. So basically if you a venue where you can choose your caterer. It's almost called, it's what is called a competitive tasting. So when you're first looking at caterers, you'll probably go to like one or two caterers, try the food before you actually book them. Nine times out of 10, the caterer will charge you for that. And then if you actually book them, they'll take the cost off of your, your final invoice.
Because obviously, if you don't then pick them, it's cost them their time and the food and the staff and whatever to make it.
Yeah,
So that's what you call a competitive tasting, to actually go and check that you like the caterer. The caterer. And then, if you, then, the caterer you then choose, you then go back a couple of months before your wedding, do your final tasting to secure down those final, so sometimes that competitive tasting can just be like a tasting menu, so the caterer might just put some bits together and say, this is what we do, just to give you an idea.
And then that second tasting is to actually try your wedding menu. If it's the case that your venue is doing the food, or it's a set caterer for your food, you'd only do one tasting and that would be purely to try your wedding menu. Not to go and do a competitive tasting to say, Oh yeah, I like you guys, we'll book you. So yeah, that's how it works.
Yeah. So I think that's what we did for our wedding. So we had obviously our venue sent us a menu and we chose from there what we wanted and then they did us like what we were going to be having on the day. But we still paid, I think we paid like, I think it was really not a lot, 24 per person, which for, for a free course meal. Yeah. They still charged us.
Even though you're booked
Yeah. Yeah.
Oh, I'm surprised about that, because normally it's just all included. Like, so part of the price is you get a taster included. Yeah.
cause I tried to like query it. I was like, Oh, but surely not.
Actually, I'm not shocked by your venue.
I was about to say yes, exactly. So get charged to lose the loo there.
I think, You said it, not me. saying that though, I don't know, it's actually probably, and it actually is an external caterer. But they say it's under their package, if that
Right. Okay. That, yeah.
them
Yeah.
then at the same time, they should just include it, but yeah.
Yeah, no, I get what you're saying.
Yeah.
that's cool though.
love a, I do love a menu
Yeah. Oh,
doing our menu
yeah
highlights. So, yeah,
Oh, I'm so hungry. I'm talking about food.
yeah, oh, so hungry. Got a couple of final meetings coming up for like June and July weddings before a girlfriend honeymoon.
Exciting.
All exciting. Trying to get in some like date nights as
Oh
We've got I got, they bought these books actually a few months ago. And it's like, I don't even know what they're called, I've actually got them here. one's like a date nights book, and one's like a activity day kind of book. I think I got influenced on Instagram basically.
Basically, I'm part of a pyramid scheme.
now paying a subscription,
Oh No,
I'm not, it's not a subscription. They're called Surprise Adventure. We've got the couple's edition and then we've got the date night's edition. And you basically, you go in the book and it's like, so you can see like how long it's going to take, how much money it costs,
that's really cool.
Yeah, but it's a surprise and then you like scratch it off and then it tells you what you're going to
Oh, wow.
I know,
I love that.
yeah. So I'm going to try and fit one of those
Yeah, that's a nice idea. Oh,
you know, married, married life date nights.
me and my hubby.
I hate that saying date nights as
Do you?
you
Date night? I don't think I've ever had a date night to be fair. I mean like, I mean I obviously have but
an
I don't call it that, you know what I mean?
Yeah.
and Richard going out, yeah.
Yeah.
know, I wouldn't sound weird if,
I,
We have a date night once a week. Oh, I'm so big cringe.
Yeah.
Sorry.
know what I mean? no,
Hell no. It's a big no from us.
I do have a book that tells
Even though you've like, been heavily influenced.
book. Yeah, I'm literally heavily
Hilarious, love that.
yeah, yeah.
Oh, that's nice though.
our new segment about final month
Yes, yes, so you're, let's, tell us all what you're doing towards your wedding this week.
Yeah, so, we've got literally less, just less than two weeks till the day.
Can't believe that.
off some final signage bits, which, so annoying because I've done all my own signage, right? Like, as in, like, just little A5 cards for, like, the small station, the pizza station, the brownie station, things like that. And I've ran out of card,
Oh, oh no.
feel like Hobbycraft don't do the card that I have anymore, so that's tray annoying.
Trey, Trey.
So I need to go to Hobbycraft and basically get some more card. So that's a bit annoying. I have done a full list for my honeymoon packing. So I've got another list
That's good,
a Wales list, that's
yeah.
I've got a wedding day list. I've got a, I've got a list for stuff to take because I'm getting ready at the venue. The night before the wedding, so I've got a, a, a, a night, a night before list, I've got a night of the wedding list, I've got a honeymoon list, and
hell.
got a on the day list of like, what I need to tick
Yeah,
I leave in my dress, like, right, have you put this on, have you got that on, because I know I'll be so like,
yeah, yeah.
that I'll,
It's good to have a list now while your mind is like, clear.
Exactly. And I'm going to start my honeymoon packing as well. So,
Yeah.
I'm going to start that this week. I've done a, this is a, a good one that people, I don't always think about doing, is a food shop. So I've ordered it a couple of days before, so just for like, any final drinks that Providing your own drinks. So just for like soft drinks, you know, like lemonade, water, like if your venue
Yeah,
to water little bits like we're doing a small station,
that.
that. We've got a brownie board, but we've got a vegan coming. So I just wanted to get a couple of vegan bits, like stuff for the morning of the, of the wedding day. So I've got like some pastries and yogurt
Yeah, that's a nice idea, isn't it? I love that and I suppose your wedding's quite late in the day, isn't it? Sort of thing. So you'll, you'll have like more of a lunchy brunch kind of thing going on, I guess.
Yeah. Well, I
So you need some food.
I got some like pastries, yogurt, fruit, bagels,
I love a bagel.
Love a
Oh, yeah.
bagel, and what else did I get? Some sausage rolls. It's a bit random really, but
Sausage fest.
sausage first. We'll also have five spare sausages from what we don't plant, so
Cook those up. Oh,
old sausages as well. We ate the other five in Wales, they were brilliant.
good.
So yeah, so get that food shop booked because even if you don't actually do the order, like you can put an order through for like, Like two things and then you can just go back and edit it up until the night before. So that's what I'm gonna do.
That's good. That's really good.
really good. So I've booked that,
Love it.
I've sent an email to our MC. This is what a lot of people don't do. The amount of times on a wedding, in the final meeting, I say, who are you gonna have as your MC? And they say, oh, I'm gonna have my brother, or my cousin, or my, this, that person, my best mate. they don't mention it to them.
Oh, that's
like,
an oversight.
is Jack,
Yeah.
And they're like, Oh, he's over there. So I go over, Oh, hello. And I either get one or two reactions. I either get, Oh yeah they did bet they did mention it. What have I got to do? Or I get, what?
no. Oh shit.
know I was doing that. So. please brief them. So I've basically sent him a little, like, rundown, it's literally one A4 sheet in a grid of, you know, this is what happened at this time, so in one column it's the time, in one column it's the, what is happening, and in one column what he roughly needs to
Who's,
haven't
who's your MC?
needs to say. One of Martin's best
Oh, I love it. Okay.
Yeah, really nice, yeah. But, and then I copied in my coordinators, and I was like, Look, you don't need to know the time, you don't need to like, worry about it. They will direct you. So
Yeah.
describe an MC is they are your coordinator's voice. So if I want something to happen, I'll go to the MC and be like, Can you announce
Yeah. Get on that microphone.
Yeah, but I wanted to give him free reign to be able to, like, for example, he's going to be introducing Martin's speech. Maybe he wants to do a little intro about Martin, so it gives him the time to, you know, prep what he wants to say, essentially, and
Yeah.
do some little, you know,
Improv.
I've done that, but yeah, please make sure you do, like, at least discuss with them, you know, because I feel like it's a role that's really underrated, like it's actually a really big
Because my, my brother was ours, right? And,
was,
and he's a very confident person. Like he loves, he loves, Any opportunities to get on the microphone, but actually, I could tell even he felt a bit nervous.
Yeah,
but he
if he
Yeah, but he was loving it on the day. He was like, oh hello. Oh, oh my gosh.
he was. Yeah,
So he really got into that.
grab that mic off him, I'm not gonna lie.
Oh, Mike Hogg.
Hayley was like, don't give him the mic anymore because he's had a drink.
Love him, but yeah.
yeah, I'd say just prep them, let them, you know, put their little stamp on it and, you know, if they just get up without knowing, they're just gonna not say a lot and then afterwards they're probably gonna think, oh, I wish I'd have said this, I wish I'd have said that, you know, so. As you
Oh, Candlegate.
taper. Why can we not find some nice sage green taper candles?
is really annoying right? I find this is actually a thing with green toned anything I feel like ribbons and everything It's really hard to get the shade that you want at the time Like if you want a proper forest green, it's nowhere to be found. If you want a sage green Nope, you can't have that either.
found.
annoying, and Sage green is quite a popular choice of color. It's very
say it's
common. It's like sage green and white has been a thing for like four years now. So, where the hell are these sage green candles? But if anyone wants to tell us where you can find some
Well, and this is the thing, right? There are places that have them, but I, so normally I go on Amazon.
Yeah.
already got a stock load of forest green taper
Yep.
when we did a shoot a couple of years ago and I still got them left in the cupboard, I thought I'd use them. But we've got set, we've got forest green tablecloths. So I thought, then with all the foliage and the flowers, maybe it's going to be a bit forest green overkill. So I thought, well, if I use like a paler green, because two of my youngest bridesmaids are in green, I thought that looked, that would look really nice just to tone it down.
Yeah,
a little bit, but yeah, cannot, and I normally just go on Amazon because yes, you can go online and Esther Eric have
yes, I was gonna say. I
to
was like,
quid
per candle.
30 quid for like, yeah, a handful of candles.
Yeah.
normally you can buy, I think that box of green ones, I bought 50 candles for like 20 pounds. And, you know,
Yeah, they're expensive, aren't they?
that are like 10 pounds for 12 and that's the other thing is I only need like 12 candles.
That's annoying. Yeah, I do find unless you want to like really break the bank with candles It's hard sometimes to come by
It
and also it's getting a nice taper Like to be fair those Esther and Eric ones are like got a real nice, like nice little pointy.
know if I'm a fan of.
Oh, but I found that
ones.
burn very fast, those estuarine eric ones.
think
Yeah, they burn very, very fast. They, they, they don't stay nice for long.
on a website called the candle selection They've got some in like a really pale dove gray, which is the color of my napkins
Oh.
I think I'm gonna go with them and
Interesting.
two pound For two candles. I think they're like a pound a candle essentially.
bad.
So that's
That's fine. That's really good.
Yeah, so I think I'm sorted,
Yeah, good.
yeah, it was, that was a little bit annoying because I thought it was one of those things that I could just whap onto Amazon, order them, next day delivery, done, but apparently not.
And even me, looking at wholesalers for you. Not, not a sage brain to be found.
will get them on Sunday. No,
Sorry.
I don't know that green that you're talking about because one of my couples has got them in for their wedding in June because they've gone like olive greens,
yeah.
greens,
Yeah, it's kind of a weird limey olive, that's all I could find, so I failed, but, well, I didn't, my wholesaler did, but, you know.
did and we also had today our jabs for our honeymoon.
Oh, did ya?
out Yeah, you can go to your doctors. You can get a a form a holiday form You fill out where you go in and then they check what jabs you've had and when And they'll tell you so I only needed one but martin needed two. So yeah, very important So you don't get
Okay. Yeah, that is important.
yeah,
Did you have to pay for them?
to.
No? Oh, they were free? On, of NHS.
on the NHS.
Wow, sometimes I know you have to pay. Depends where you go then, maybe, I don't know.
Got a bit of an achy arm going on, but yeah, you know. I'll tell you one thing I've been looking at as well, and I don't know what you think about this, and I've ordered about four now, but I don't like any of them. Did you have a bag?
I had a tote bag that just had a few essentials in which I kept in like the behind the, behind the scenes. I'm not,
well
I wasn't a film.
just gonna take like, was thinking maybe I'll just take like a little makeup bag with a couple of top up
Yeah,
and just leave them in the toilet. Yeah,
so I had, you know,
I?
my lipstick. So, the, the, my hair and makeup artist, she got me the lipstick, so it was the same one, obviously, that she was using, so I could just top that up. And I think I had, like, some pow you know, like, powder and things like that. Bits of, like, hairbrush, maybe. You know, mints. All those little bits that you keep in your, like, bag on a night out, basically.
yeah, exactly.
to freshen up or whatever.
thought I'm not gonna be carrying it around and I thought it'd be nice Maybe to use it afterwards and at the honeymoon. Then I
Yeah.
now I can't find
No, you won't hold it.
stress about it
You won't have it on you. It'd be annoying if you had to hold it. It'd just, no, I mean, Yeah, so, that's what I don't understand about these dresses, wedding dresses that have pockets. What are you putting in your pocket on your wedding day? Your phone?
are you?
Who's putting their phone in their pocket on your wedding day?
I don't even want to
What?
my phone.
No.
gonna be at the wedding. Why do I need my phone?
Oh hey!
Oh dear, like, and everyone else will be taking selfies.
Yeah, so I don't get that.
you can see it in the outline
I just think, I just don't get it. I don't get why you need a pocket. And everyone's like, wow, dress with pockets. I'm like, no, why?
No,
a waste of a pocket.
well we'll strike that off the list
Yeah.
about
See you later. Yeah, yeah.
wait, I'll wait. So, one thing that I was very much. And you asked me about this, right? Before I got married, I was like, you were like, are you going to change your name? And I was very much like might to eventually, you know, once my passport's run out. Now, it's the weirdest thing, since I've got married, I'm now like, I want to change my name. I really, really want to change. I don't know what has happened,
I know.
the most bizarre thing.
But it's like, I feel like if you want to change your name on your own terms though, perhaps it was a bit of that though for you. I don't know, like, did you want to like, keep, because I, I don't know. I really wanted to double barrel my name, right? So my, my maiden name is Smith, and then my married name is Waller. So I wanted to do like, Waller Smith. But my other half really wanted to just have Waller. And I was like,
Yeah,
trying to like,
yeah.
a stance.
Yeah, yeah,
no.
no. I was a little bit like,
yeah, yeah,
but now I'm really keen. But, I'm like, where, because again, this isn't the kind of thing that I normally would deal with. Once a couple's married, my job is
yes.
Where do, where do you even start
Oh, that's a good question. I don't know Should I quickly look it up? So Marriage certificate entitles you to take your partner's surname or vice versa It also entitles you a double barrel surname with or without a hyphen in which order makes sense to you.
So anyway, so normally you'd have a wedding certificate. There you go, people. Top tip. I'm sure I've seen somewhere though on TikTok that don't, not to do it. And there's a reason why. And I
So,
remember
I think if you're, are you thinking of your passport and like, going on holiday?
Yeah.
So, as long as you book your holiday in whatever name is on your passport, it doesn't matter. So say, say if I got married and I changed my name to Hayley Waller, but my passport was Hayley Smith. You just book your holiday in the name of Hayley Smith.
Right.
That, that's, that's all that is. So, but I changed, I actually did change everything. My passport and everything. I just did it all. Because I was like, yeah I changed it which is easier. So I got it all done.
it's baffling, because honestly no one at any point, and you know on the day, I didn't even think, like, oh, well what name are they putting on the certificate? You're just, you're just so, like, so, once that's done, What do you do then? Because I'm just envisaging, like, Like Obviously, so you bank. Do you have to take your marriage certificate into the
yeah. You do. Yeah. So a few things I did. So with your driver's license, you have to actually send your marriage certificate off. So they take it, they, they seal it up and they put it in an envelope and it's like signed and tracked and everything. Then they, they return it back to your address.
Right.
but yeah, they require that for you to change your name. Same with the bank. You have to take your marriage certificate in with you. So on that, that's why the marriage certificate will say which name you've changed to.
it makes sense
So they, they take like a number off of the certificate and everything. So it's all like filed away. So they've got proof or whatever. But yes, you have to go physically in with the certificate. However, I did find a service that you can do online and it's called Nameswitch. Basically you can. Buy like different packages. And I think the most popular package is like an online one. And basically what you do is you upload all your information.
So I guess it'd be your marriage certificate and everything like that. And your details and you pop on there what you want. to change your name on. So it comes up with a list of everything. So you've got like your bank and then which bank it is.
Yeah.
Like if you've got any like finance taken out that you need to, all of that, like your, your household bills, all sorts of things, mortgage. And it basically downloads all of The forms, the relevant forms that you need, so you can fill them all out and then you upload them again and they send it out for you.
Oh,
And it does it all in one place so that you don't have to physically go around to all of these websites.
and do it.
Yeah, so it kind of takes that apart. But you do have to pay for it, I think it's, I don't, I think it's about 40 quid, something like that. But
like accounts like your food shop and
yeah, like everything.
like
Yeah,
account and yeah, do you know what
all of that.
like It's a lot. Do you reckon you've still got stuff in your old
Yeah, I do. I actually, I'll be honest, it took me, I was still pregnant when I changed my driver's license. It must have, but she said the lady in the post office, because that's where I went to do it, told me that it literally, you get people that have been married for like 10 years sometimes, they come and like,
Yeah
just, sometimes it's,
Must get really
yeah. And it's like, life's busy, isn't it?
well, yeah, because say you like, for example, you change your driver's license, you change your passport, then you go to pick a parcel up, but you haven't changed your ASOS account. Then they're like, have you got ID?
Yeah, I have had, I had, kept getting that annoying thing happen, so I was like, well I better go change it then.
Better go do it.
Better do that. Yeah,
do it when you've got the time. Like in my head I was thinking I'll do it at the end of the year when it's a bit of a quieter time,
I would.
like November time, when I can literally spend a day sitting there and doing everything that I can possibly think. It's the same as when you change your address though, isn't it? We changed our address recently.
you have to go through. Yeah.
I even change
Yeah.
baffled by this
Oh,
and
glad we brought it up. Yeah, yeah. I'm confused.
quick. I'm very confused. I'm very confused, but I might just have to de poll it. It's
Yeah,
is. email them and just say
sorry.
nobody
my name?
warned me about this.
Yeah. Oh,
Yeah, can you change it or is it too late?
unless, unless your name, it puts on your marriage certificate, like, Hannah Rose married Martin Roberts.
it doesn't I've got it in front of
Oh,
Yeah, it
it's not got both your names on it. I'm confused.
I just got a bit of fun names on
Yeah. Does it say like your marriage to, and then his name,
Yeah
maybe then it means that your name is changed because you've married him and that's just what happens.
Maybe
gonna, I'm gonna dig mine out and check.
though Because do you know that they only changed it literally a couple of years ago that you can have so it used to be you Could only have your dad's name on on your but now you can have
Can I have anybody?
people Yeah, so if you're like adopted or anything, you wouldn't have been able to have their name. You had to have your birth
That's mental, that's so old fashioned, isn't it?
Isn't it for all intents and purposes, Hayley's just popped off to the toilet. While she did that, I have just googled this. So, Contrary to popular belief, a woman's surname does not automatically change to her husband's surname upon marriage. Neither will your marriage certificate indicate in any way what surname you will be using following your marriage. A marriage certificate simply recalls the names of the couple who are marrying.
your marriage is your personal choice, what you want your surname to be, your options which are detailed, Explained in detail in this article are, continue to use your maiden name, take your husband's surname, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Oh, I see.
So you don't, it
Yeah.
names that
Right.
and then I read, further down, that basically, the the idea of the marriage certificate is you then have that to prove you are married.
I see. Okay. That makes sense, actually. As I thought over it, as we were talking, I was thinking, actually, I don't think on the R certificate, it's just got both of our names, like, I, Mary, and then
Yeah.
know what I mean? Oh, well,
decide to do with your surname following your marriage, they will, you will probably want to change your title to Mrs.
yeah.
yeah, I need to read into this more. We'll have to discuss it in deep. But yeah, no, it is
That's interesting. I'm glad that you brought that up, though, because,
Yeah, there we go we know. When to apply for your deed poll. Apply in time for your wedding on the day. I don't think you need
no.
poll. Unless, it says here, if you're double barrelling your surname. If you, uh, or if you make your maiden name a middle name. Or if you mesh your surnames, then you need a deed poll. Otherwise, I think you can just,
Well that's some good information though. Didn't know that. That's really good. I'm glad that you brought it up.
There we go. Hey,
Oh,
cool.
There you go.
Awesome. Should we go on to the listeners
Yes, let's do it.
Amazing. Okay. Do you want to read the first one?
Yeah. Hi girls, love the pod. Thank you very much.
Thanks.
getting me through wedding planning. Huge congratulations to Hannah. I heard her say that she's getting married at 3pm. So am I. But I feel like no one else does that. Could she give a rundown of her order of the day? She's getting married in June and she's still struggling with it. Thanks. Laura. Thank you, Laura.
So, first up. time that you've
Yeah.
And you're so right, a lot of people don't go
No.
it's the best time of day, obviously, I
Course it is.
Now, I'll tell you why it's the best time of day. Is because, And you're going to be like, really?
Best time is one o'clock actually.
but it's not. It's the worst time. It's the worst time to get married is one o'clock because it's the, it's like the most inconvenient time for Ian,
was gonna say, it all revolves around food. People are hungry.
because, but honestly, people's lives evolve around food, right? Look at our working day. We start after breakfast time. We have a lunch break for lunch. We finished before dinner time, like everybody's lives. Whatever you say evolves around food, right? And lunchtime is at like 12, 1 o'clock. I think it's 1 o'clock, right? I always
Yeah, well I have it at one, yeah.
if you get married at 1 o'clock, right, people are going to be traveling, etc. So they're going to probably need to leave at like half 11, 12, depending on where they live. You know, if you get married at 1, you need to arrive by half past 12. then you're going to go into canapes. Honestly, it's all I ever hear at one o'clock ceremony is, when is the dinner? You get married at three. Everyone's at their lunch before they come to the ceremony. Great. And then you sit down at like five o'clock.
It's dinner time.
Love it. Do you know what, when you put it like that, that is a good point.
Genius. Absolute genius. Okay, cool. So first up, what I always do is I try and work backwards on things, right? So you need to look at what time you want your music off. I'm guessing you get married in June this year, so I'm guessing you've sent your invites for evening guests, if you've got evening guests. So general rule of thumb is you get married at three, your ceremony's half an hour, so it'll take you till half past three.
Drink reception's normally an hour and a half, so you could cut it down to an hour and fifteen, depends how many family photos you want to win. Don't do many. Don't do more than 10. Biggest, biggest bane of the wedding. Yeah, it's a lot, right? So I always say it takes on average 3 to 5 minutes to gather that group of people and take a family group shot, right? So if you're doing 10, that's going to take between 30 and 50
Yeah, true.
doing 10.
Yeah,
So if you're doing that many, To have an hour and a half, if you're only doing a couple, you can have a little bit less. But yes, that gives you time to have drinks, canapes, photos, you couple photos as well, and then start getting people seated. But depending on the amount of guests you get, you got, you need a good 20 minutes to set everybody down. And people are always surprised by that, but honestly, everybody at that point is like, Oh, I'm gonna go to the bar, I'm gonna go
I'm just gonna go anywhere, but where you need me to.
Literally. Yes, like herd and sheep. So, I would say that you want to be eating by about quarter past, twenty past five if you want to start serving. Again, it really is dependent on what you're having. Now, I'm having a barbecue, so my barbecue is being served between five and six o'clock. So lovely. But if you start seating guests about ten to five, the start is to be served about ten past six. then need a good two hours, really, for a three course meal.
So you, we always say 45 minutes per course. that's from the waiter serving the food, you eating the food, to clearing the food.
Yeah, yeah.
So that's just over two hours for a three course meal.
It's longer than everybody thinks, isn't it? All these timings, I think.
are like, I'm not sitting there for two hours. I'm like,
Yeah.
that long. So, if you're starting eating at like, ten past five, I'm like, okay. Yeah, you're gonna be, so yeah, start seating people about 10 to 5. So it gives you an hour and 20 minutes drinks reception. 10 past 6, go into your starter. That's taking you to like, 10 past 8, right? 10 past, no it isn't, my maths is terrible.
Ten by seven.
past 7. 10 past
my maths is
If you're doing your traditional speeches three speeches, because you are getting married that bit later, I would recommend that the waiters place the starter the dessert, sorry, and then you go into your speeches while people are eating dessert. It just saves a bit of time. So, go into your three speeches. You can then have your speeches done by like quarter to eight. 8 o'clock, right?
What I'd say then is once speeches are done, give everybody 10 minutes to, if you're doing tea and coffee, always doing tea and coffee on a station. Don't have it served to the tables. No one cares. No one wants it. You're just paying for everyone to have a tea and
Yeah.
pay for tea and coffee for a
I like the idea of a station. That's a good idea.
get it out the
Are you having one?
no,
No. Yeah.
tea and coffee, wasting money.
Fair enough.
Yeah, so go and have it in the station and then at eight o'clock, then go into your first start if you're doing a cake cutting, go to your cake cutting first dance. So that will all kick off at eight. And then if you're finishing at like half 11, which most people do half 11 midnight, it gives you a good three and a half, four hours of
Party! Yeah,
Does that make sense? Yeah?
that's good.
little bit more about, in depth, of what you're having. I mean, by the time this podcast goes out, I'll message you this as well, because by the time this podcast goes out, you probably would have got married.
No, no, technically not.
will message you as this as well, but for anyone that's listening in future tense, if you don't get married at three o'clock, it's a wonderful time, and that is how I would do it. So, do
Yeah. I,
with that?
yeah, I agree. And I also I feel a bit differently now about the wedding time. Now you put it around the food thing. That makes, that does make sense. Cause people's, I feel like people's mood is always dependent on how hungry they are as well. So, yeah.
true. Although we've got a bit of a bugger with our wedding because we're getting married at three, so inviting everyone at half two, lovely. A lot of Martin's family are in Luton, so we're like, well they're not going to have to leave home till like half one, quarter
Yeah,
have their lunch first. it's the bloody radio one
oh,
in
yeah, of course it is. Yeah
So the traffic's going to be insane, so they're going to need to leave like
the day before
Although, yeah, literally, I was like, If it was me, I would be leaving the day before and I'd stay
Yeah,
But anyway, it's, but then I said to Martin, you know what, they'll just leave early and then they can get a Maccy D's on the way. I mean, what a way to make the
exactly. I see no negatives about that. None at all. None at all.
like, tell him not to come to the venue before half two because there's gonna be nothing there. Like, if I was them, I'd be in McDonald's or Starbucks.
Tear lit?
So yeah, I hope that
Yeah, hopefully that helps.
3pm Brides, I'm, I'm all about the 3pm. Also, right. You've gotta think of it this way, if you get married at one o'clock your guests are arriving from, like, twelve, after twelve. Even worse if you get married at twelve o'clock that is like, aw
Oh my gosh, I've done a lot of 12 o'clock weddings lately.
awful,
Oh so early.
When, by the time you're evening finish your guests will have been at that wedding for twelve hours.
It's a long time
day.
Ha
lot,
that is a long time.
Plus, there's yourself 3 p. m. Ceremony is amazing because you've got more time to get ready. It's so much more chilled. I've told my hair and makeup artist I do not want anybody there before half past nine.
Love it.
like the dream. Like some people having to get up at like 5, 6 in the morning. Like, absolutely not.
That was me
Yeah, no. Not, not about
Well fair enough
you not hear my discussion last week about how I got up, had a lovely breakfast, was chilling,
I know, the dream, the dream,
lovely, lovely,
oh, well, well
cool. So next up we've got, Is confetti or something else a must at a wedding? We really aren't bothered. Well, if you're not bothered
no, I don't think it's, you don't, I've been to many weddings and they haven't bothered with confetti, to be honest with you, and if you're not bothered then absolutely not, it's just a waste of money isn't it? That's another thing you can say, because it's, don't forget, I do, I, I do, I, I had one so I'm a big fan, are you having one?
Yeah, I
yeah,
Got my
so
packed.
let's not forget it is an expense like it used to be that people bought their own confetti But now like the bride and groom supplies of confetti and then you hand it out That's how it is because sometimes you don't know whether you can have confetti as well as friends on the venue blah blah so so and you're not talking like 30 quid here. We're talking like couple hundred quid on confetti Right, so
you go down the paper route like I
Oh, yeah, hang on a minute. Yes. Sorry. Yeah.
we
Yes
that.
the Amazon the Amazon confetti. Ha ha ha.
confetti. If your venue allows it, some don't allow it,
Yeah
yeah, no, I think if you're not bothered, but at the same time from my experience now, is there things that now that you're like, actually, I'm so glad I did
yeah, I love our confetti shot. It's one of my favorite photos of us We had like they often the photographer will get you to like stop have a kiss halfway and then carry on walking sort of thing So you get like the most that it's it's a lovely picture But if you're not worried about it, you're not bothered then well
think
answer's no
think about, are you actually definitely not bothered,
Yeah,
your other half just going, what are you paying, spending
yeah,
If you actually, like, have a little look on Pinterest at some confetti shots, do you want that shot? If you're like, no, absolutely not, I do not want to do it, then don't
yeah,
care. But think about if you definitely aren't bothered, and why you're not bothered. And if you're still not bothered. But then it's the same as me with the cake. I was like, I'm not bothered about having a cake. I don't want to do a cake cutting. So yeah,
yeah,
get, get what
yep. Yeah, so I think yeah, take that advice and
run
run with it. Woohoo!
And your fish cake.
Lovely.
Yummy. is it fish cake? Oh, it sounds so weird. You know, when you're like, I am having a fish
Yeah, I love, bloody love a fish cake.
