You made it!
Four days of weddinging. Well, technically three and then a set down day.
She survived,
I survived. I did. I was, I was slightly concerned that week. It was really weird. I was, I felt shattered on the Thursday night. And I was like, this ain't good. I've got two days left to go. But, I feel like after the first day I was fine.
Yeah,
yeah! Yeah,
it.
I'm excited to tell you all about it.
Can't wait to hear.
Fab, let's go!

Wedding season is here.
It's nuts. I feel really hungry today. I think it's because we're recording at lunchtime. I just keep thinking about food.
around the time that we're gonna eat and then we're
We do, yeah! Yeah, literally, all I'm thinking about is food. And weddings.
I'm just sat here drinking a really boring old water because we
Yeah.
right now in the
Yeah, what the hell.

Though that this came
yeah.
the start of the week. I do feel like you know, we've been having these like few crazy hot days They have been coming midweek because honestly guys, I know you're praying for your sunny weddings But you do not want heat like this, especially if you have a marquee wedding No No, no, no, no, no
last year in August actually, and it was so hot in the marquee. Like, it was just so bad. They had like water
Horrific.
which I
Yeah
but they were like, Take as much water! And I was like,
Give me all the ice
I was like, Help!
When you want to go sit in the trailer fridge. Ha ha ha ha ha ha.
couldn't
Yeah.
last minute, like,
Bad times. Anyone that's getting married midweek at the minute, I yeah, don't. And the men in the suits. Oh, no.
too
Not for me. Too much. Yeah, we actually had, Moving swiftly on to my big fat Indian wedding. It actually wasn't. It
it
wasn't.
oh,
an Indian wedding. It was a couple of Indian heritage and their family were Indian. There was a lot of Indian traditions going on. But actually it was, we had a good vibe. We had a good fusion of British and Indian, which was really fab.
weddings, don't you?
Yeah, I do. So yeah, I do. I mean, they were both Indian Hindu. But I do a lot where the The couple are completely split. Yeah. So one, one could be, I mean, we've done like Indian British weddings, Jewish, Jewish atheist weddings. We've done, we've done all sorts. We've actually once did an Indian and Hindu Muslim wedding, which was
that's a
very fun,
Yeah.
because obviously that's really, really like unheard of, but these days, you know, yeah, but we, we still do.
you
goes. We, we, that's what, kind of what we specialize in. But yeah, these guys came to me and they said, Look, yes, we've Indian background, Our family are Indian, But we don't want it to be like, Overly in your face Indian. What we mean by this is like, The, The big faux flower. installations and the big white dance floors with the decals of their initials imprinted into them and the, and the sofas and the, do you know what I mean? Like sometimes you,
I
in the nicest possible way, sometimes these weddings look insane and sometimes they look, can look really tacky
there's a
and they wanted to avoid that. Yeah.
do feel like I've done quite a few myself. I've done the flowers and there's a certain What's the word like a checklist of things that they
Yeah.
to have like it's common like a common denominator
Yeah. Literally.
mentioned, but yeah, I do I
Yeah. The stage. And the dance floor.
yeah, they go they go in though. They they they go
All out.
It
Go hard or go home.
of the time.
Yeah. Yeah, so, yeah, no, it was a really good few days. So we had the welcome party on the Thursday. So it was up at a beautiful venue called Berwick House in Shrewsbury. Highly recommend. It's a stately home. It's still in the family. So it was handed down to Will and his wife Cassidy and they are now running it and it's the first time it's been open for events. So previous to that, it was, it was a house and when it got handed to them, they thought, no, we're going to open this up.
We're going to,
event there,
No, but it's the, since they've taken over it, but they haven't done masses. It's quite, it's quite, we were one of the first bookings, but they've done quite a few this year. They've got, they've got, they've become really busy. I am not surprised. Like, it's such a stunning house. They spent like a huge, I think it was like 1. 5 million or something they spent on refurb in this house. Like, it's stunning.
It's got 18 bedrooms, which is kind of unheard of because in these stately homes, A lot of, a lot of the families don't want to offer for overnight stay. Yeah, because it does,
with us, like we got married in a really nice venue, like a stately, well I suppose it's a school, but still, like,
yeah.
like that, and I've seen them a few times, where they don't then have accommodation, so it's
No, and the reason is it just poses so many more implications onto the venue. So they have to have a night porter because of fire safety regs. There's so many more like safety regs. So a lot of these old houses do not offer accommodation. It's also, yeah, it's having staff there the next day. It's being able to offer a breakfast service, all those kind of bits and bobs. It just makes it more awkward. So a lot of these stately homes do not offer it. So that's, that's a real pro.
It's just a beautiful house. There's a lot of space. And they're just a lovely team as well. Really, really nice people. So yeah they had, we had the welcome party on the Friday. So when the guests were arriving, so what we did was we had, so the house had the 18 bedrooms, so we could fit like 36, I think we had 37 in the end. We added an extra bed into one of the rooms that stayed. Everyone was coming from London, America, India, pretty much.
So we then put on a bus to take all of the guests from, that were coming into Heathrow, to the Macure in Shrewsbury, and then so yeah, Thursday was like a day of arriving, so they just wanted to see everybody, yeah, say hello.
getting everybody
Yes, we
accommodation.
Welcome party in the evening. We had a pizza van and a Greek van, which they loved. Yes.
god, you know what? I had a greek takeaway on Friday last week and I,
Oh, banging. That's one of my faves.
love it.
So good, so good.
capacity.
Oh, I like a gyros.
Oh, oh yeah, can't go wrong, yeah.
go wrong with a gyros. So yeah, so they had that and I mean, So we had like 90 people RSVP'd say they were coming. I always do like head counts more out of like, just, just to, you know, for, for me to, Yeah, that's the word, gyrosy. I think I counted the most at one point was 80 people.
Okay.
food, We've got 60 portions of Greek, 60 portions of pizza. the couple were like, this is going to be far too much. So I was like, okay, but it's the minimum numbers that we can order. They're like, Oh, maybe we should just got pizza. Absolutely not. So like I say, with the maximum we had at any one point, but majority of the evening, it was like 60, 70 people went through all of the food in like an hour. 120 portions of food
hilarious!
like 80 people. Yeah, because if people are having both,
Yeah. Why not?
But why not? Why not? So Brilliant. So yeah, that was really fun. And we just had a speaker on with some music. And it was just really nice. And I think, again, it just kind of solidifies that. That, you know, we were talking about it, I think it was just last week we said about the day after, but it is so nice when people are making effort to come out of their way, like, to do something, but you don't have to do a lot, you know? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah,
last week, you come for like the day, but actually if you do like the perhaps breakfast a day after or welcome thing the day before, it just kind of makes it into a bit more of a,
a thing, and Yeah, no
hello, cause you really don't have a lot of time on the day to do that. So I feel like if you
you don't and I do think it's weird like say you've got family or friends that live like the other side of the World and you haven't seen them in years and you obviously want them to come Yeah, and also what you're walking down the aisle and you're like, oh my god Well, if it's
Oh my god, you know.
like some of your best mates that you haven't seen for like a couple of years
wanna
whatever Yeah
properly,
the lead up.
Yeah.
Yeah, so, no, it was really nice. Then on the Friday was the two, like, Indian traditional ceremonies. So you have the Ganesh Puja and you have the Haldi ceremony. So we had the Ganesh Puja in the morning. We then did lunch, which was banging, at Dostar station. Amazing. And then in the afternoon is the Haldi ceremony, which is where the couple literally sit on these little stools. Everybody, like, lines up. You get certain people that, as all the women go first, then the men. Indian tradition.
And you basically get a leaf, and you wipe this turmeric paste on them, and they're like covered
Covered
it by the end. Yeah.
turmeric's a pretty bold colour as well.
Well, yeah, well that's the, that's the whole, the day prior for the Indian wedding, so the Haldi ceremony and then the party in the evening is all about being, yeah, so all the guests had like bright yellow dresses on, it's, yeah, it's, and, and you know, I mean, I've read all about the different, what the meanings are and stuff, but every ceremony means something different, but basically it's wishing like prosperity and, you know.
Yeah.
things. It's really cool. They're just really fun and it makes for some great photos. I'm not gonna lie
pictures. So
Yeah, literally, so they had the best priest like so they said to me look mum's organized the priest He doesn't speak a word of English. So you're gonna have to speak to mum for anything you need to let him know No,
Yeah.
he did speak a bit of English, but he was just so, considering the language barrier, he was so funny. I had a girl with me called Millie, who was working with me and Chloe, and she had a Gucci belt on. And he kept calling her Gigi. Obviously as a GC fan. He was like, Gigi! Gigi! And he learnt my name. He learnt my name. And he would kind of point to things and be like, Take to my car. And you know, it was just brilliant.
But he He was quite, not demanding, but you know, He wanted Oh, and he'd be like, can you take this? Can you take that? And then he'd be like, oh, and a cup of tea, please.
Oh,
Okay.
enough.
problem. No problem. I'll do that.
Sorry, sir.
So yeah, but it was good that we, it was so good because he knew, obviously he knows what he's doing, but he knew what he wanted. He knew what he needed. He was very, it was actually very to time, which is unheard of in Indian weddings. So that was really good. He was just a lovely, lovely man. He really got me involved, which I thought was so nice. So I went
good,
Yeah, in one of the ceremonies, he he, he got me involved cause I was like, sat with the photographer. I was like, Hannah, play this to me. Come on.
nice for you though,
Yeah,
time with the couple.
I know.
to know them so well, actually. Like, you're sort of sharing that day with them in some
Yeah,
I think that's quite nice for you. Yeah.
that barrier of, like, look, I'm white, you're Asian. Do you know, like, I just think, like, come on, we're in 2024, like, we don't need to be, like, patterning, like, pitter pattering around that, like, yes, my skin is a different colour.
Yeah.
He, when we were doing the turmeric, he was, like, to me, come, come on. And then he get, like, so I was getting my turmeric, and he got this flower to me. Dipped it in and went to put it on my head. And I was like, no. And then he got me and he got it all smeared over my head. And the couple were like, quick, wash it off. Cause you look at your white skin's going to get stained basically. Cause obviously their skin doesn't, it doesn't stain as bad. It still does.
But they were like, well, you need to wash that off. And I just love it. So yeah, so and then in the evening they then have their mendi party, which traditionally years and years ago would actually be the females only. And it would give them the opportunity to have all their henna done ready for the wedding. And the bride would sit there for like four hours and have her henna done. But nowadays, the bride normally, the bride got hers done like a few days before in London because you do sit for
Oh, okay.
then
I was gonna say, do they have like a certain person that they would always use for that? They have like a henna artist that they always go to or they just find one.
I gave
Yeah.
in London
Oh,
yeah, and then we hired one in Shrewsbury or she was at Birmingham way. So yeah, so nowadays everybody just joins in on the Mendy party. So everybody came along and you basically, we had a DJ and we had. In Indian, but Indian few, so the caterer was like Indian fusion, which was really cool. So
Yeah.
outside, which was lovely. The weather was great. And then we had a
Last year.
who just did like that. You can see I've had my hand done.
Yeah, that looks amazing. So pretty.
minutes?
What? That's insane.
Yeah. She was
Wow, that's, that's impressive, that's impressive.
that
Yeah.
only do small on the guests, so that hand or if you want your foot done or
Yeah.
So yeah, so, but the brides obviously had all their hands, her palms, her feet, like everything
Yeah.
up her arm. Yeah, it'd be stunning, absolutely stunning.
I bet it looks incredible.
So yeah, so that was the Friday night. Honestly, the DJ was Met, I've worked with her before she's called Pa from Eternal Tale. brought along this woman called Sandy, who was a hype girl. I didn't know she was coming. We just
Oh my gosh!
we booked DJ and doll player. Again, doll is very, very popular in Indian weddings. The
Yep.
want it on the wedding down the Saturday. So they were like, let's do a bit on the Friday night. So that she brought along this woman, Sandy, who was a hype woman and doll player. So she'd done the doll.
It sounds incredible.
then she was literally on that dance floor all night, hyping people up. And I tell you what, it works. Like by the end, the DJ was sweating because the idea of your hype woman is she, reads, obviously the DJ does as well, but she really reads, she's in the crowd. So she reads the crowd. So she'll be telling the
Yeah.
the song and like, turn it to this, turn it to that, that kind of thing. And the DJ was just like,
That's cool.
was, honestly, they
Can't catch up.
They were so good. The music was incredible and that dance was packed all night, like without fail.
Wow,
really good and they did
that's that's good going that is because normally you get like a Quiet minute, don't you? Yeah, like a few people and then
Whee! And then, yeah. And they also did choreographed dances. So the bride and groom come on first. And then the parents came on. And the aunties. And then their,
Wow,
like, friends slash brothers, cousins came and did one as well. That was really
oh my gosh,
And
this sounds so cool Party hard
some of the cool things from Saturday. So the Saturday is then in an Indian wedding, the main like wedding day. So you have your Hindu ceremony in the afternoon. So it kind of is structured similar to a standard British wedding. So you have your Hindu
Yeah,
Then you have your, just to also highlight this couple did get married. a few days before, which I advise them to do, because I've done Hindu weddings before, where they also have the civil ceremony the same day, and it's just a ball ache. It really is, because you're
yeah just
and a
a lot in one day
and then a 30 minute civil ceremony, like it's just too much. Yeah,
Yeah, it's a lot, isn't it? Yeah.
So yeah yeah, so with the Hindu ceremony you have four, so you have what you call a mandap, which is four pillars, and you can
Yep.
nowadays, but some of them are like what we were talking about earlier, a bit, you know, with the sofas and the, and the stage
Yeah.
So they were like, look, we don't want this, we want, we're in this beautiful country house, we want a really British vibe to the Saturday, but we
Yep.
influences and tradition. So the, we had the florist make four pillars of flowers. Which was immense. It looked insane. It was really, really good. But bless her, your filfer on this. So we had them all set up in the garden and I don't know if you've seen this on my Instagram. If you haven't, please go
I think I have, I think I've seen this. Is it? Yeah.
said to me, can I start setting up on Friday the pillars? Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely fine. She did the flowers on the Friday. So she started setting these up in the formal gardens. And on the Saturday we woke up, it was due to be no rain on the Friday, woke up Saturday and it was saying There's a possible chance of rain.
Yeah.
we were like and the clouds were black and I was like, I'm
Oh.
We're gonna need to move the flowers and she was like, okay So she's like, okay,
Cry me a river. Yeah. Yeah,
hide this. I was actually quite glad Apologies to the florist. But we basically hired this, this cover. It was, it was almost like a part marquee but it was almost like, yeah, like a large gazebo bed. It was really, really nice with these big wooden poles. So, we'd spent a lot of money, like they're not cheap, as a we in case of wet weather, so I was kind of glad that we
just in case.
I'm honest, so she moved, we, we basically moved all the chairs over, the, the, the owner is, the venue is just immense, he got all the chairs in his tractor and took
Got involved. Yeah. Can't go wrong with the tractor.
such a help. So then we decided to get these flowers into the tractor. And I think he just got a little bit pedal, pedal heavy happy. I wasn't there at the
Oh my god.
video afterwards. So if anyone that's not seen the video, please go over and see it on Instagram. Because basically, the guy that works at the venue and the florist got absolutely soaked. And
no.
in, in the truck, basically. Please, please go and look.
In the trailer I did see that, yeah.
literally pulled forward. fell down.
Straight over.
down. The two flower stands fell down. The water out of the buckets went
Oh my god. Oh, I see. So she made them in them little funny little bucket thing. They're like little tubes, aren't they? Yeah.
done like, halfway up. There
Not an oasis.
then one halfway up, then one. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I mean I understood to that like you don't use oasis so it's a lot better for the environment. However, they're not, yeah, not great for transporting. Yes,
of them being in water.
yeah of course, yeah.
please go and watch. Because now we can laugh about it, it's hilarious. But at the time, we were
But at the time,
distraught,
wouldn't be laughing. I would have been like, oh my god,
had to

wedding as well. So she was like,
oh no.
it. Like, just finish these off.
Was it too far for them to like walk them over then, I assume?
And up,
Rewards, yeah. Okay, fair enough.
hill. Yeah.
Oh god, yeah.
of the venue, so yeah.
Oh,
And they were heavy.
feel for her. That's, yeah, they are,
after
must have been heavy.
back to the venue. We had to use like a sackbarrow, and that was like difficult enough. But,
Yeah.
that probably would have been the better option in the end. But to start with, we're like, great, we've got a trailer, let's utilize it.
Oh no, that's such a shame as well.
she did a great job and rectified
I was gonna say, it looked really nice. I mean, at the end of the day, it all came through in the end, so,
what
you know, how does it matter how they got there?
We also had on the Saturday, so we had the ceremony. We had a, so what they have is what they call a barrette. So that is a basically an entrance for the groom and everyone kind of parties. So you do that before the ceremony. The group groom enters, they party, party, party. The only mare of the weekend we had was they come in like a, they chose like a tuck tuck kind of
Oh yeah.
but it was supposed to be like a rickshaw, like a bike with a bit on the back where he sits and then they cycle or pedal or depends what you hire. Anyway, it turned up an hour and 20 minutes late from wherever the hell they were
Oh my god. Seriously? Yeah,
like, first look with the groom, first look with, with dad.
that's
I'm like, right, let's get this done. And then I know we're ready to go. And I'm literally messaging her like, is it here? Is it? And you know, the typical, it's, we'll be there in three minutes and 10 minutes later, it's still not there. And. Yeah, that was an absolute nightmare, but
pretty poor. Yeah, but it was all right in the end.
kind of. Kind of.
So what
It, basically, what he then
oh no.
hour and 20
Oh god, shut up, no. What was it?
it was the beer that he sits in, but it basically, it's one that somebody has to drag.
What?
Yeah, and we were a bit like, well, where's the
Drag?
oh, we didn't
Oh.
And we were like, but how do we move this? And he was like, oh, you just have to get people to basically pull it. It basically had like two sticks on the front. I know. So, instead of one person,
a wheelbarrow.
almost like that, yeah, like, yeah, yeah,
Ha ha ha!
we, instead
Oh.
going, doing the groom's entrance with him, we then had to rope in like four extra men to be able to move it.
Yeah.
light, thankfully. But yeah, not, not what we expected. And it's the fact that
Not ideal.
and it was late. So if we had turned up on time, we'd have had an hour to be like, okay. But it was the fact that we were at the gate ready to go and then we're all looking at it like,
So,
is
yeah.
Where
What is this? Instant pa Ha ha ha ha! You're the pedal! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha!
it's fine. I'll just walk and I was like no
No! Absolutely not!
for this we're
I will make this work!
so
Will you not get a refund? Will I get a refund for that?
I'll let you
just don't know. Oh my gosh, keep us, keep us guessing on that one. Yeah.
seen on my Instagram one of my highlights of the day. So the couple, when they booked their venue, had been to a local bakery, after their, when they were looking at the venue just to go and get some
Yeah.
love this
Love that.
to make our wedding cake. And they basically were like, oh, we don't want anything. They've basically seen this one tier cake on Instagram and they were like, This is fine. We'll just have like a one tier. okay, okay. She made us, basically, what we ended up ordering, was a one meter round cake, one
love this.
it was just full of fruit on the top. Like,
It looked incredible. Incredible.
TikTok, at Hannah
Loved it.
Ha, ha, ha, ha.
Another shameless plug, by the way.
Honestly, it was so good. It was, and they had to cut, they cut it with the sword, the venue were like, we've got all these different swords to choose from.
Oh, I love that.
it, it was, it was really, really cool. Cutting it up in the evening was interesting. But yeah, and we just, we sat, you know, we had a lovely dinner. They had a plated Indian meal, which is kind of unheard of as
Yep.
buffet, but they wanted it plated,
Yeah.
was still eat. Indian
do they have?
had so you had a choice of lamb and chicken. It was like chicken tikka or paneer.
Oh, okay, yeah. Oh my god, I love Paneer.
and the rati and all those kind of things. So yeah, lovely. And then for decor wise, again, you can see this on my Instagram, but it's very traditional on the wedding day for them to be in red. So the bride's always in red. The decor is very like in your face red. But they were like, we don't really want that. We want it to be more subtle.
So we went with like a real vintage rose on all the linen, and then we had the gold cutlery, gold rimmed glasses, and then the menu was gold foiled, but they were like a cherry red, so, and
Oh, okay.
the influence, the Indian red influence into the
Yeah, lovely.
just
Stunning.
And the flowers we did, they were like all down the center, so we had long tables, all down the centers, and they had like mixes of pinks and reds in them, so. Yeah, it looked stunning. so
Love that. I love pink and red.
had a band in the evening, they were fab, so it was a very different vibe. That's what they wanted. They wanted, they were like, we want a different vibe from Friday night to Saturday night. So that's what we did. We had like a British wedding party band, which were great.
Yeah.
yeah! Sorry, I've just rambled on, but
No, I love it. I really wanted to hear about this. It was such a big wedding as well, like, and I knew it was going to be like, like three, four days worth of
Tidy up
wedding shenanigans. So yeah,
Yeah.
I really was keen to hear about that. It's quite, it's interesting though. I love that you get to like, get involved with a different culture and things like that actually. It's actually really good because I don't think, I feel like that would intimidate a lot of people actually.
know what? It the other day, and I have kind of just fallen into fusion weddings, and they're a bit like, oh,
yeah.
do it? Like, like last year we did a Greek and Nigerian wedding, and they're like, but, so what do you do? Just take the wedding and then research? And I'm like, no, I just say to the couple, like, I'm unbiased, and I'm an outsider, and actually
Yeah.
well for them when you're doing a fusion wedding because you don't need to know all the traditions and stuff. You just need to say to them, what is important from your culture that you want to bring in, you know? So
That you want to include. Yeah.
lamb. It needs to be well cooked because that's what our guests would expect. And also when you do these kinds of weddings, that always so different. It's like when you do an Indian wedding, they're always so different because they have different, you know, different villages and different towns have
Yeah, of course.
traditions.
It's like culture within culture, isn't it? It's kind of like, yeah, different like layers and things like that. I, I understand that. It's, I think it's really,
You
it's,
ask them. You
yeah.
done a
What, yeah, I'm not that, but then I think what's important is that you bring in the different, so like you said, they all have like something specific that they really want to include, so there'll be like certain things that are like their must haves, and then you can kind of pick those things and then include them, and then your job is to kind of like make that
Yeah.
and gel that all together and I think that's more important than
Knowing
don't necessarily think you have to have yeah, like a real in depth knowledge I think you can just be passionate about weddings and then that kind of that just works because you are organizing it That's what they need is the organization to mold the two Cultures together
nowadays when people don't want it in your face, like, it's good because I'm using suppliers that aren't necessarily in Indian wedding suppliers. If you hired an Indian wedding planner, they probably have a whole, know, catalogue of Indian wedding suppliers. That's not what these guys wanted. And I think
No
fusion, it's best to use somebody that's not, you know, it's best to use a
Impartial bit impartial or something. Yeah.
you
Yeah. Yeah
then something different from what everybody else has. So if that's what you want, it is honestly
That's true, yeah
outside the mold. Cause we still know what we're doing. And, and, you know, there is, I still do do a bit of research on what, you know, it's like Jewish weddings now I know
Yeah.
at the same time, for an example, if you plan in a, if you want an Indian wedding and you hire an Indian wedding planner, you probably then got You are probably a bit more influenced because you're probably, it's probably a bit more like, well this is what we normally do and this is what we normally
Yeah, this is what you've
do that because
You're not like that, so you're a bit more of an open book, aren't you? Yeah, yeah, totally.
so. Yeah,
well that's good.
I just had a couple of chill days afterwards so I'm starting to feel a bit back to normal because it was, I didn't,
Back to normal.
as I thought I'd be to be fair and I had three very late nights and early mornings.
on adrenaline.
But I did start cracking out the old wedding photo album. I've started working on it. Quest, did you,
Oh do you know what? It's really bad. I actually didn't. I got bought, like, a physical, like, photo album.

And I haven't, yeah, which I haven't done. But I,

yeah. I think I'm gonna go online and put them all into a book. Like, you can have them made, can't you?

Yeah.
five hundred pounds.
Really? Okay, no. When you were saying expensive, I was thinking, 100 quid, you know, that's a lot of money. That's
For like a

of them like flimsy ones, you know, when you
Yeah. Yeah, I know what you mean. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
yeah, there are a lot of money, but, and you have,
Oh, that's
because you say the maximum kind of pages you can have is like, they range between 70. So you need to like, basically you don't want to obviously, you like, I've got like 800 photos. So you have to then it, cut it down to how many
How do you pick? Yeah, that's hard. That's gonna take you time. Like, that's

So you can pick like, say you want to do six pictures on that page. Then you click, then it shows you all the different layouts you can do with six photos. You just play around with it. But yeah, it's taken ages. gonna lie. And I
That's the thing. I've

How big is this book gonna be
yeah, I've gone for the 70 pages. I've gone for a slightly thinner page so I can have more photos because I thought that's
Yeah
think it's like centimeters by 40 centimeters or something.
So this is still gonna cost you like 400 grid Oh my god. No, I wouldn't pay that. Sorry. That sounds tight. I don't I wouldn't pay that

Yeah, if it's there people will tend to look to be fair, probably get the money, money, it's money's worth or whatever, I suppose.

Oh, that's so jokes.
It's all,

of money for your photographer, like. You might as well spend an extra couple hundred
know what you mean. You might as well spend an extra grand and just go the whole hog.
Absolutely not. No. But yeah, no. Extra
That's,
but
a good conversation that you've started though because I feel like this is something that genuinely wouldn't even considered.

No wonder they're charging so much. So I do feel like so many couples, like, don't bother. But then it's like how many couples never bother looking back really at their photos. And I just want them
I don't know, I, yeah.
it's
I like the idea of you know them canvas ones you get that are blown up, you get the big pictures like, nice.

It's honestly I had some photos printed out recently. And I was shocked at how much I literally went in there and it's like can I print like I think it was like I think I had like seven photos printed. Some of them were like A5 then I had some done in a bit bigger but I don't know A4. That's a couple of three A4 and some A5s. It cost me 50 quid in snappy snaps.
snap.
I mean maybe they're trying to get their money back after what's his name? George Michael crashed into their

Okay, free prints should be given us some money to advertise on it.

Yeah, do free prints, don't worry about your fancy book. No one needs to, just stack them on, stick them on the table, just stack them up.

Your wedding's just a gift that keeps giving.
Literally.
Oh dear, should we go on to listeners questions?
She's taking the piss, guys, because I've talked too long. How was your week?
I don't think anyone wants to hear about my week now. Do you know what? I had a good week. I I met, sorry, I think last time we spoke I was going to meet a bride. So they're getting married in August. And they're having quite a big wedding actually. They've got 14 tables plus their top table. So it's quite a lot of guests. Yeah so they're, it's in it's a venue called Vauxhall. Bass Mead Manor Bars. Yeah, so really nice. And they're, they're quite, they're quite like country themed.
Like they're, I
Rustic
other half's family's, yeah, like a farmer. Come from that kind of background, how if you know about.
Hay bales. Bit of
but they're, they're actually Oh, words of gummage. Sorry, that's really tickled me. Anyway. But what's really cool is, so, her husband to be is he's into, like, clay pigeon shooting and stuff like that.
And they're having cartridges on their buttonholes, so, I've seen it before where people actually get the, Cartridge and that have flowers so you'll see if it's like hollow isn't it so they put the flowers in there and have that But actually i'm cutting off the end of the cartridge so you can see like the brand that he uses So it's like imprinted on it. It's like stamped in like a gun cartridge like a shot cartridge
That's
so he's into shooting so yeah, yeah, so cutting off the ends the end has like a brass or a nickel like end And it's like it's normally stamped with the
Yeah.
makes them or the brand that they are so i'm cutting literally gonna cut that off and then stick it to the front of the buttonhole
no
so that
that.
no other way Look, i've cut through live gas pipes and i'm still here telling them i'm like a cockroach. You can't get rid of me

We laugh.
laugh, it's
Who knows? Anyway. So, anyway. So that's my cartridge and buttonhole story. Yeah, it was my week. Was that night. I'm also having to have some maintenance done in my cool room.
how'd you
I've got like a walk in fridge. So, yeah. It's actually really good in the summer because you go in and it's lovely and cool. Woo!
we not record today in the fridge?
in the fridge. Yeah, live from the fridge.
Love in
Yeah, so I've been having some maintenance on that which is really quite boring but it's necessary and I just thought it was interesting for people to know that it's it's actually quite important to have a
people
some florists don't have cool rooms but
off Gumdre or something?
well, no, I mean, I've done, I've literally worked with florists that just don't have one and they just, they just make it work. Like, I, the last florist I worked at, they just had a cellar and
Oh, okay.
in the cellar, but I mean it was no, like, I mean my cool room's 5 to 7 degrees it sits at.
she's got her

fresh from the
So they're sitting in there. But obviously with that, you have to allow for the, obviously when they come out of the fridge, they will just go
Oh,

Yeah.

Yeah.

van, nah.
no,
there. It's too expensive there. Some of us can't afford a 500. Yeah, the call room is expensive. The initial cost of setting it up is expensive. But the good thing about it is, wherever I go
Yeah.
I can take it with me. So it's like a it's like a room inside a room. So like it's a built room
was saying, I thought you meant
it's like literally
you can take it with you,
Oh, no, no, no
move house.
If I move like from wherever i'm operating from like it can come wherever so it's like it's it's pretty good in that respect and
house because it's not
Yeah, not Yeah, but it's it's pretty good and I love it anyway, especially this time of year because it's like It's lovely and cool, yeah. But, yeah, it's keeping it maintained and everything is quite important. Keeping it, I have to clean it, like, at least twice a month. making sure I don't have to bleach it all out and stuff. So it's quite a job to stay on top of.
interesting.
doing that this week, yeah. And then yeah, just basically trying to survive the heatwave. So it wasn't exciting as yours, but still, you know this cockroach life
well, I hope you all enjoyed hearing about the Indian Wedding. Just
Oh, I loved it,
bit about that. There might be a few things that you

into your wedding. Because there are things that I picked up, like, you, I think you mentioned before. At my wedding, I had, so every time, for every speech we had an intro song. I got
Yeah

From an Indian wedding. Yeah, I'm going to be saying it's cool.
You know, I mean, this wasn't

It's nice to just talk about it as well because it's just like all these little things that you learn like you would never know. I think that's I just think it's cool. Yeah, I like it. I enjoyed it.
got, she had six different outfits across the, across the three
Oh my gosh.
the Friday and three being on Saturday. One on, one on Thursday, two on Friday, three on Saturday. She got changed and they were heavy dresses.
Yeah I bet they were really, they're ever so like, there's like layers of fabrics aren't they? They're

well made.
handmade and I swear to God the cost that she paid for all these dresses was probably still less than her white dress. Like, such good
Really?
make them
Wow.
and the price is just, yeah, very good,
That's so cool. Wow. That's interesting though. I bet it was, was it, it was hot wasn't it? So was she having to, was she, did, how did she feel about changing that many times? Was she all right about it?
a bit like, they were very,
Getting a bit of flus.
said, they'll admit themselves, they're very introverted people, and they had to go off quite, you know, because it's a long time to spend with people, they did their,
Yeah. Yeah.
since Sunday, they did a family barbecue this Sunday, civil on the Tuesday, and then started going up to Shrewsbury Thursday, and then started the celebrations right through till Sunday, so like, we just need to, we need to, Top up the social battery, basically. So yeah, I think she was quite happy in a way to have the time. She, we kept the hair and makeup artist there to like change her hair and stuff. I think it was a nice bit of time out for her as well.
But yeah, I think she was happy to get out of the heavy dress. But it was stunning. But so
Yeah, I bet it was amazing.
Nice. Shall we move on to the listener's questions then?
Yeah.
Cool.
So so I've got one here. What wedding tradition do you feel is now outdated?
Okay, so, For me, Bride walking down the aisle with Dad. I think it's outdated, because I see more and more people not doing it. Also, your dad giving you away when you've probably lived with your other half for God knows how long just seems
Yeah, I think we spoke about that. Didn't we? I don't see. I feel like it depends. I, I, I wanted to do it because of my, I've got a really good, like, my relationship with my dad or whatever, so like, that was fine, but I feel like if you look into the actual meaning of it, obviously it's like ever so outdated.
and I think that a
Like,
brides feel like they have to do it, because it's
yeah, there's a pressure, isn't there?
But you don't. It's outdated.
Yeah, I feel that's outdated, yeah. Oh, is it? Oh.
to do with fertility or something. yeah, The traditional order of speeches, which is father, the bridegroom, best man. Outdated, because common lets power to the women. The bride talks now, and
Yeah, the bride's always, I was gonna say, yeah, women and the bride can do a speech. Yeah.
still do it, but again, it's that worry of if you see them in the morning, then it's going to bring you bad luck. Like, absolutely not. I see a lot of brides as well say, I'm really worried about staying on my own because like, I always stay with my other half, so I feel like I'm not,
Yeah, it feels weird and it's like, well why are you doing it then? Yeah.
I'm so far two months in, I'm all right. And
It's all going well so far, guys.
list was keeping the top tier of the wedding cake. Nobody does that anymore because.
yeah, no.
the, the idea is that you keep the top tier that you cut the cake for the fertility and then you're going to get pregnant the night of the wedding
Ah, then you have it on your christening.
no one
Yeah.
because
Nah. Yeah. Yeah,
of people don't get their kids christened. And a lot of people like to have the different flavours in each tier, so you want to cut them all up. So that's
exactly.
any that
Yeah,
that
yeah, so I, I was thinking like the, like the free course wedding meals a bit outdated to be honest.
Yeah,
I actually, I feel like there's so many other things you can do. I mean we were saying like about the Greek food truck. I mean that's amazing. I feel like that's a bit like you kind of feel like you have to do a free course meal for a wedding.
and yeah,
like there's so much other things you can do and also cakes like having a three tier cake is outdated like you could have rather than having a cake like I suppose you could you know you can have like desserts
Dessert
or a cheese's
yeah,
like you know there's loads of things or having what you like rather than just having what you think is like the done thing I feel like that's outdated that sort of
and I use it so, I'm a culprit, well just because it's wedding term, but we really need to get rid of this wedding breakfast term.
oh is it yeah it comes from like the 1800s doesn't it?
meal
first meal after your, yeah.
hell is a wedding breakfast?
feel really like stuck up when I say, Oh,
wedding
flowers are you having for your wedding breakfast? It really makes me cringe. I just say dinner.
of
What are you having for your,
get
we're having for your scran.
is it lunch or dinner? Like if you're up north, down south,
Oh, let's just stick to wedding breakfast
to
then.
breakfast, yeah, good point.
Or is it your tea?
tea, yeah, where I'm from is your tea. Well, it depends
This your tea.
it though. If you're
Oh, no.
your lunch. If you're having post
See, I'm not, like, Northern, right? I was thinking about this lately. It's going a bit off topic here, but I'm not Northern, but I, like, our family has a lot of Northern things that we do. I've noticed it, like, I just, there's certain things, and I'm like, that's a Northern thing.
is a bit, bit of a mix, isn't it? Like, that's
Yeah.
like, I'm from Norfolk, which is neither North or South. But I suppose you
Yeah. Yeah.
I would say that we're in the South, but, yeah, I don't know, it's weird. Weird. Yeah.
Yeah. Weird, weird, weird.
Wedding I just think of something
yeah.
think. say ceremonies like, people aren't getting married in churches as often anymore. People still do. I've done quite a lot of church weddings this year, but, you know, civil ceremonies and even civil ceremonies, people having like, celebrants and stuff and just Signed in a bit of paper beforehand, like that was unheard of
That's quite a
So I'd say that that is
Yeah. And I I also think like the whole like who's sitting on the top table thing and having like a long top table like that's outdated. Like
to sit
you can have a round one now get involved. Do you know what I mean though? It's like, it's like the whole top table and then it's then then it's the whole like thing about who's going on it. I just feel like just have a round one and sit with your mates or something.
Definitely. Yeah, no, I think they're the kind of things that we feel are outdated.
Yeah.
as we always say, do what you want to do. If you're not sure, again, and I think we've said this before, if you don't know, I have a lot of people that are like, I really don't want to do a first dance. Well, don't do a first dance then.
Don't do it then. You don't, who's, who's forcing you?
Like, do what you want to do. Like, we didn't have a wedding cake. walked down the aisle on my own. We didn't have a wedding
Everything's fine.
Like, it was your back garden.
Yeah, it's all good, it's all good.
of speeches. We had our friends do them, and us. We just saw each other the morning of the wedding. We basically got rid of all of them, I'm not gonna lie.
Throw out the tradition.
out the traditional white wedding dress.
Yeah, I've seen some with some beautiful floral prints now.
nearly went for a floral print.
Yeah, they are stunning, yeah.
to have a white wedding dress anymore.
Mine wasn't white, my dress was off white. It was like a pink. Yeah, it had a pink, yeah. Beautiful. Beautiful.
Wait, where did this come from? Am I the Arsehole for ordering a pizza to my friend's wedding because there was no food? Was this
Yeah, was that your wedding? I'm joking.
Cheeky bat. We

written this in is like, or put this on Instagram or whatever, wherever this came from, I do feel I feel like that there was food, but maybe there just wasn't a lot. We have been to weddings before, I've been as a guest, where like, there wasn't masses of food, and you are a bit like, but, Or it might be something that you don't like. And you're
Yeah I mean
I
I've got I've gotta say
I'd just be going home a bit
I went to, I went to a wedding, right?
Have you ordered a pizza
I'm not gonna, you're not gonna name any names. I went to a wedding and there wasn't a lot of food and it was actually quite sad because you're kind of, in this scenario, you're kind of actually stuck at a venue that's kind of in the middle of nowhere and there's nowhere around you and that is actually quite hard if you're hungry genuinely and they've not provided enough food. Like, this is an actual problem. So.
my house though. I cannot let
Yeah.
it
No. So, I, I get hangry, right, and I get anxious if there's not enough food in the, okay. So, in, because we, me and, me and Richard sort of saw this scenario might happen. We actually packed a lunch in the car.
Oh yeah, no,
We actually packed food, sandwiches and stuff, and we actually had to go and eat it. And when we ate it, we were just starving, like.
bad though, isn't it? It's bad that you almost knew that was gonna happen. being
This was my like, wedding experience coming in, you see. So I knew this was going to happen.
gonna,
So I wasn't going to get caught out, I wasn't going to be ordering no pizza.
