Happy, I don't know what day it is.
I think it's Tuesday.
Oh yeah, it is. Yeah, but it's been back.
it's a Thursday. If you listen
we're recording on Tuesday. Yeah, and it's just been back holiday.
so, when it's bank holiday, literally I lose track of what day it is and where I
Same.
who I am. I have no idea
Literally. Literally. Should we get started?

wet! Woo! Oh,
happy 30th birthday to Haley it was
have aged, like, I literally turned 30 and aged instantly, I swear. I've found so many grey hairs since the weekend.
Isn't it mental I like hit
bad. Oh,
Yeah, I hit 30 no word of a lie. I then had this like developed the skin condition on my fet like rosacea on my face I've never had it before and I And I had a, struggled with a bad back. What the hell? I remember my first wedding season from being 30, I massively struggled with my back and I was like, this has never happened to me before. Like, what the hell?
is like the first birthday where I've really not really wanted to celebrate that much. So normally I go all out for birthdays. I like, I'll plan it. I
Yeah,
celebrate. But I was like, do you know what? Just turning 30,
Ah, but 30s is
away.
great. Welcome to the club. It's been a long time coming.
it's
Yeah, it's so great to be here. 30s is great. It's all good.
Yeah,
It's all good.
to be the best years of my life, you
Yeah.
Fingers
don't think you really notice it. The thing with 30 is you actually forget how old you are all the time. Like, I'm like,
to
yeah.
you just stopped counting the
Yeah, I'm like, am I 32, 33, 34? I don't really know something. around there.
30ish.
Something, I'm actually 35 this, in a couple of months.
Wow.
Yeah,
you were being the same age as me, I know it's not like a
I know,
But
that's the thing.
don't, don't
Yeah,
as being older and
no, older and wiser.
Older and wiser. No.
you don't like, realize people's ages. Oh,
guessing people's ages as well. I always think
yes, same. I hate doing that when people are like, how old do you think I am?
Oh, it's awkward if Older than you are, isn't it?
literally. But yeah, so I congratulated Hayley on her birthday two days late, but I was like,
friend.
today, isn't it? She was like, no, it was on Saturday. I was like, oh, damn it. It's because you had your night out planned, which I also couldn't go to on Sunday, so I thought for some reason it was the day before, Before your birthday, but actually it was the day after.
Don't
a great day to have a 30th on though, a Saturday.
a bank holiday weekend.
Than, I know you had your night out Sunday.
so went out for breakfast and also went out for dinner, so I ate my
Lovely,
It was
that sounds great.
Yeah,
Sounds ideal. Little family day was it?
it was
Nice.
the morning with Richard and Lily, and then I had my sister in law came over with my nephew.
Aww.
in the evening, I went out with my mom and my dad and my brother and my grandparents.
Oh, nice. It sounds
Yeah, it was good. It was lovely. Yeah.
there you go. It's all done for another year.
That's
I went all out on my 30th. Like, it was stupid. It was just ridiculous. I had a party, and then I literally, after my party, which was like two weeks before my birthday, I just refused to work. And then I went, and I went to New York,
Did
and Yeah, I went all out and then came back Christmas. So I basically celebrated from, it's my birthday three days before Christmas, from like mid December until Christmas Eve. Just, yeah, for my 30th. It was all about my birthday.
It was just all about me.
I'm always like that though. Oh
might as well.
But how's your week been other than turning 30?
Yeah, it's been good. So, I've I've got another wedding coming up this Saturday. So another quite big one. So, just been planning, planning for that. Ordering all my flowers, making sure everything's organised. I've got all my containers and stuff. I've also got an event on Thursday. There's a golf event nearby
okay.
I do some
Yeah.
So,
Oh,
I'm be busy flowering this week.
and Saturday wedd events and weddings. Jeez, yeah.
one on Saturday is quite, so, I always sort of say reuse. Where you can
Hundred percent, yeah.
and so they're having ceremonies in the church in the village where they live And then same place Sorry the where they're having their reception is also in the village So
Yeah.
of the flowers that they're using at the chair having at the church. They want to be moved back to the reception
Yeah.
as you know, and you've seen, we have to like, come in, swoop in,
Yeah.
do it as quick as we can, but it is
Yeah. Discreetly.
invisible, and we can only go as quick as we can, so I'm gonna
Yeah.
van, trying to like, discreetly park outside a church,
Bless you.
with the bee and it's cowboy hat on, on the side of the van,
Oh, I love the bee! Don't you also find that parking arse at churches as well?
I always try and get the thing is you can't because we'll be doing flowers in like there So they're having like a teepee reception
Oh, nice!
so we'll be doing flowers there and then having to go back
Yeah.
So we won't be able to like Nick a spot Also, you don't they don't want a big van parked outside
No, they really don't. No, no.
But they're literally taking everything from the church moving it back. So even like I'm doing like a garland over. There's like a Garland metal sort of
gate, yeah. Mm hmm.
that's coming back.
That's not weird, because normally, that's the kind of thing, because you normally gift something to the church, flower wise, and normally, like, yeah, the bit over the arch is, like, the easiest thing. Yeah.
yeah. So they want to, they really want to reuse everything, which, which is, you know,
Yeah.
fine. And I don't think there's any other weddings there over the weekend, but I mean, they're well within their rights to move everything over.
Yeah?
paid for it all, but, and it saves them some money to decorate back at the venue. So,
Yeah.
it's close by, so it's not, not too bad, but it will be a. be quite a rush on Saturday,
Yeah. You're gonna be running around. You've got people to help, though.
I have got people to help,
Yeah. Nice.
hopefully it'll all go smoothly, I'm sure it will,
I'm sure it will, it always does in the end, don't it? It works out in the end. What colour scheme have they gone for?
So it's all whites and grey greens.
Nice. It's just very Hayley.
Oh, there's a surprise. Yeah, so it's really like, they're really blousy blue, like a lot of flower and a bit of foliage.
Oh, okay.
like, bouquets. And
Yeah.
will be, like, sort of a mixture of both, but
Have they got long tables?
Tables, they're having round tables.
they? In the teepee? Oh, okay. That's like quite, normally everyone goes for the old long wooden trestles in a teepee.
got they're having like a like so they're sitting on like a sweetheart table, but it's round So they're
Yeah.
arch, which is a circular arch behind
Mm hmm.
we're moving the columns outside the front of the church They're like the asymmetrical
Either side, yeah.
them in front of the moon arch and then I'm decorating the table so that it's like a bit of a tablescape for them
Yeah.
So yeah, it'd be
Nice!
But
is it?
So it's in Stoke Hammond,
Oh, okay, and it's their own land.
little village. Just up the road from where we are.
Nice.
yeah. Really nice. And the
Perfect.
Well, the church is a special church for me and my family, so it's just one that we go to. My Nan's buried there, so well,
yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
so.
At least you're local as well. Yeah.
yeah, it's
Perfect.
start because it's a 12 o'clock ceremony, so.
Oh, God.
going to be like a 6am job, I think, because I've got
Yeah.
of the arch. But
Lovely.
good.
Be all fun and games. Yeah, mental. So I've done three weddings in five days. Classic bank holiday,
Oh!
just the three. Classic bank holiday weekend. And I literally feel, I got up this morning and I thought, I literally felt, I feel dead for a start. Like, as you can tell by my eyes. I haven't put any eye cream on yet. Yeah.
but
And I felt like I literally haven't been at home because the days in between, I literally just, I did Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, but my friend was here Friday, so we were out and about, and then Sunday we were in London all day seeing Martin's fam friends. So yeah, it's, I literally have been like non stop, like just going from one thing to the other. But no, three really good weddings, all really happy, all had great days.
So Thursday we were at a stunning venue down in Winchester, Avington Park, highly recommend. We've done, been there a couple of times before we've got a wedding there next year as well. And yeah, it's just, it's such a beautiful state, like it's stunning. Have a look at it online, it's honestly incredible.
Sounds nice.
and it's still private owned. And they've got loads of accommodation and stuff, so yeah, it's a really, really good place, but she her, the highlight from that wedding for me, her mum is Jamaican and had made homemade Jamaican cake and had put it in like little boxes, so we put them out on every place in, and honestly, it was the most incredible cake I've ever tasted in my life.
Oh, my gosh. What flavor
literally, Jamaican cake's like ginger, ginger cake. Yeah.
my god.
Gingery, like rum, rum cake.
that sounds incredible. That's like Richard's favourite. You know,
Oh my god, it's insane. Yes
in Tesco in the little loaf. Yeah, he
I know exactly the one you mean. Yeah. Oh my god, it's so, so good. And I actually like, cause there was loads left over and they'd had a few people drop out and stuff, so I'd eaten a bit already. And I went up to them and was like, I
for me.
need to say, that cake is absolutely incredible. And they were like, oh, eat some more, eat some more. I was like, okay.
have to tell me twice. I've
I'm like,
loads.
I wouldn't eat cake. Yeah, yeah, literally like, don't need to tell me. So yeah, no, it was a really, really good day. They had a lovely day and the timing's worked really well. The only thing was, it poured with rain on Thursday. Like, it just didn't give. It was one of those days where it didn't give. But in fact, and the wind, so we had their ceremony.
wind is so bad.
Yeah, what's going on? Well, it's on the back of so our friends,
or?
yeah Hurricane Debbie, so our friends live in Bermuda, so they were back, and they had just had a hurricane, so it's like, all off the back of that, basically, over in the back. Caribbean side. Thanks Debs.
ha
Had their ceremony. They were a bit late. I mean, I've just done three weddings. I can't remember what time, but I remember it was later in the day. I think,
ha.
like half two or something. So yeah, a bit, yeah, it was half past two. It was half past two. So later in the day, which we'd love. Plenty of time to get ready. It wasn't stressed. They were all loving life. Honeymoon suite is massive there. They've got a big fridge, oven, like everything. So we stocked it all up with drinks for them and stuff, which is great. And they'd bought a load of sandwiches and whatever. So that was really, really good. And then they, yeah, so we had their ceremony.
After the ceremony, I'm like, okay, it's finally stopped. So I'm going to get people out because they really want to do a confetti shot. Let's just go for it. Honestly, the wind was nuts. Like, Chloe couldn't even stand by the door with the basket of confetti because it was just going everywhere. Yeah, so we like, stood in the house. Yeah, but to be fair, like, we got it. We got the shot, so it was all good. But, yeah.
then because that wind was crazy
I know and they just trying to get obviously they wanted their photos in front of the house because it was so beautiful, but Yeah, and then saturday, again poured poured poured with rain, but this was just a reception So they got married in hawaii, a few weeks ago Looked insane and then this was just their part. They just had a party. No ceremony. Nothing just a reception They had a barn dance vibes.
It wasn't actually a barn dance Well, they played a bit of like country music and places, but everyone had like cowboy hats on On cowboy boots, there was those like hay bales everywhere and yeah, like barrels and yeah. In Northampton.
Okay,
So yeah. That was nice and local for me. And yeah, it was really, really good. Really, really fun. Everybody had a great time.
Country theme is
Yeah,
got
it's coming back.
all the I I went out, when I went out on Sunday, like there was so many people wearing cowboy boots and I was
Really?
that's
cause Shania's been touring. Shania's back, man. With a boom. Yeah.
pull it off though, because I've got a real cankle, so I just, I don't know, there'd be no sort of definition between boot and leg and I just don't
Brilliant. Mine's the opposite. I have the thinnest legs in the world. So any boots just ha No, but any boots just hang off me. And they literally like Rub on my leg. Yeah, it's not fun. But yeah, they also had the most elite small station I've ever seen.
Oh.
They, she didn't just do like marshmallows, chocolate biscuits. She did marshmallows, chocolate biscuits, chunks of chocolate to put in with the marshmallow, you know, to melt the chocolate. She also went like Reese's, Reese's cups,
Oh yeah. Yeah.
Minero, so you could put that in your small. She went all out. Honestly, mouth's watering just thinking about it. Pretzels. She went melted chocolate and pretzels. Yeah.
Oh
it was a real vibe going on. It was good. And then yesterday we were in Oxford. So we were at one of the colleges. We do a lot of that. So they both met at the college. You, a lot of the colleges in Oxford and Cambridge, you have to be alumni, alumni, is that the word? So you have to have graduated from there to get married there. So they'd both been to this university sorry, to this college within the University of Oxford. So the church was insane. Something out of this world.
there are incredible, like,
So good.
weekend away there a little
Oh yeah, you did.
like, you can walk around the universities, can't you?
Yeah, you can. And nightmare to find though. I was like, I can't find it again. Parking, logistics, and all those kinds of bits and bobs.
I think, is it Magdalen College?
Oh yeah.
colleges. And that was That was a nightmare to set
Yeah.
like the parking and everything like that. It's not
Yeah. Not good. Yeah, I mean, the college we were at was actually really good. It was just off the main road. It was the St. Hughes and they have parking.
Yeah.
that actually was really good. That, that was a good, good venue, but yeah, no absolutely beautiful, beautiful setting, loved that they met there. Couple of things I'd say on that one there. So they got married at like. Half past twelve. Yeah.
Yeah.
this church ceremony at half twelve. It was a long church. It was Christian Orthodox. It was a long ceremony. Just over an hour. But afterwards, they had planned in, like, a two and a half hour drinks reception.
Wow,
I was like, this is too long. It was really, really long. And in fact, it did feel long towards the end. But to be fair,
they've had like a really long drinks reception and it's just
Yeah, and we'd planned in quite a bit of buffer time because church service was at half 12. We didn't order the taxis from the church till half two because she wanted to do photos and stuff, but also we kind of knew that people, so she, she organized taxis for the key family. Everybody else either walked cause it was 20 minutes or like got their own taxi, but people were like coming in with coffee cups where they'd stop for lunch.
Oh
And I think you always need, I think we've mentioned this before. You have to be prepared that if you're going to do a lunchtime service and people are going to, it's in like a key town center or something, it's not in the middle of nowhere. People are going to stop and go for lunch. So you like, I think it was like the drinks reception was an hour in and we still had 20 people left to arrive. So actually in the end.
yeah.
was a benefit that they
That they did.
but bless they had so many people dropping out they had like
guests did they have?
so it was supposed to be like 90 and in the end they had 67 and we had eight not turn up on the day. Yeah, I've never, I don't think I've ever had that on the day, have eight people not turn up.
did they
There was like 60.
why these people dropped out.
I know, right? Because she was, she was messaging me up until the day before with dropouts. So we'd had already had quite a few dropouts but the fact that there was people on our table plan from the updated one the night before that then didn't show, I was like, wow.
that's a
So yeah, she had about 60. The other thing I'm just going to briefly mention is. She really lovely, really, really lovely couple, but she just could not relinquish the control.
oh, okay.
had me, Chloe, her husband, her photographer, all telling her, chill out,
Yeah.
it. But throughout the whole day, it was like, Hannah or Chloe can can what about this? And yeah, yeah, no worries. It's covered and yeah What what time is this and what's happening and one point, right? So they had their drinks reception, which obviously was long and they had alpacas during the drinks reception.
my God.
So they've basically done this experience before where they'd spent, they'd done like a walk with alpacas and they loved it. So they were like, alpacas at our wedding, lovely. And then when they went, they were in a different part of the garden. So we'd done the drinks reception in a different part of the garden to what you normally would.
Yeah.
said, oh, can we move everyone to like the more formal gardens? Like, yeah, yeah, of course. That's where we were gonna do, so like I advised, I think we spoke about it last time, do your group shot, announce everybody and sit. So I went over and I said to everyone, oh, if you could join the couple in front of the house. So everybody moved over. Ten minutes later, I come back outside with the photographer.
We'd been in the room doing room shots and everyone was just basically stand, standing ready for a group shot. And this was half an hour before it was due. And I was like, there's no way. And she says to me, Oh, Hannah, can we do the group shot now? And I was like, Oh, it's not for another 20 minutes. Like you're all good. Just mingle, chat, chill. She's like, Oh no, everybody's ready. And then goes like this. And I look, and I'm like, everyone's literally lined up in a group shop.
Like, there's no way People would do that, like getting people into a group shot is a nightmare. She's done that herself,
she's done it. Yeah.
without fail. Then she's like to the photographer, Right, can you go up onto the balcony and get the shot?
Oh,
Honestly, I was like, and I literally said to her, you need to stop managing your wedding. Like we kept saying to her, just chill, just enjoy it. Just enjoy it. Just enjoy it. Right. And she was like, you know, in the group photos, no, mom, right. You need to stand closer. And the photographer's like, let me do that.
Oh my gosh.
our blesser wants to.
at least they got, 'cause that's, that's hard, isn't it? Getting everyone together. So, I mean, at least
I mean, yeah, she must have been like, come on, come on guys.
Chop
but then what happened was, because I was a bit thrown off, because when she's like, right, go up, do the group shot, 10 people hadn't come in to the group shot, because normally what I would, I was then coming outside to wander over to the drink reception space, check everything's cleared down, get the, get the group shot ready. We were then thrown. And then it was like, oh, these people weren't in it. We need to do it again. So this is why we have certain ways that we do things, you know?
Do it
So just remember that if you're getting married, trust the professionals. We're the experts. We know what we're doing. We're not going to miss anything. And if anything does get missed Like, we'll probably fix it and you won't notice and
it is.
it, do you know what I mean? It's gonna be, not gonna be that vital. But once she did her first dance in Kate Kyan, she was loving life and she was having a great time. But I mean she was dragging everyone onto that dance floor. So, I just think, if you know, yeah, if you know you're gonna be that kind of person, right?
If you physically cannot relinquish control, and you are just, you know, you know you're going to be like that the other day, I would just do as minimal as possible, like, don't do all the formalities, because you are literally going to be standing there clock watching.
yeah.
Do you know what I mean? I think if, exactly, just do, go get married and then have a reception, and then you haven't got any timers to worry about.
group shots and
Yeah,
Like stage photos and stuff like that.
yeah,
like, then you've got to get everybody together. Like you're
exactly.
Oh, I need to do this. And yeah. Cause I don't know. I mean, I was like, I, I, I felt like up until the day I was quite like, Oh, you know, like being a bit controlling, but actually
is. The
the
other day you were fine.
didn't even look at the time. I just sort
exactly.
you know, like.
I felt like that at my wedding. I literally felt like my personality changed from one day to the next. I think I said before, I was literally like, stressy, crazy, bridezilla. Chloe had to literally kick me out. To literally
out.
switched off as soon as I saw my bridesmaids. And I literally didn't look at anything. And, you know, But I think that's because I knew all my suppliers and I trusted everybody and I know that they're gonna do the right thing.
that you've hired and,
that's what you gotta do. But I think, do, do, yeah, do something a bit like what we did on Saturday. Get married somewhere else, just do a reception. Pick a venue that you can go and set up yourself the day before. So you haven't, if you, if you're really that concerned that things aren't going to be set up how you want them to be set up. And it was like when she came in from, back from the church. So you know I always do a first look of the room.
Well, within, we're standing at the doors, like, Asking guests to go out to the dark the gardens direct to them She stopped right down to the to the to the room where the wedding breakfast is. She's already in there We didn't even have chance to do no first look at the room and and I had No, I had some like candles still to put out and she was like chloe chloe the candles need putting out She's like, yeah, we still got four hours till the My meal. Like, we're on it. Ha ha!
Because I was like, we've got a long drinks reception. Yeah, because we had quite a rushed morning because we had to be at the church and with her by like 11. And so we,
it was early.
yeah. So I was like, do you know what? We've got a really long drinks reception. We can sort the candles later. Like, it's not going to be an issue. Ha ha ha ha. Ah. Yeah, and I just can't work like that.
almost like micromanaging you, you just think like, this is my job, this is my what,
Yeah.
is
Trust me. Yeah.
this, you gotta
Yeah.
me,
100%.
to like, we're perfectly fine. And actually, the more they intervene, the worse you feel.
Yeah,
I feel on edge when they're like that, because you're like, oh, I don't know
100%. Same. I can't work properly. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, 100%. And, and you feel on edge.
I don't know. Yeah.
No, I completely, but that's the only, I've, I've had quite a few like that in the past. But this is the only one I've had this year. Everyone else has just been like, doesn't know what the time is. You're almost moving that, you're almost saying to them like, come on, we need to do the photos now. Like, come on, come on now. Reigning them in. And they're like, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Everyone else has been like that, which is great. So I want to see more of that, guys.
Come on, relinquish the control. And if you
Let
can't do something, do a different plan because yeah, you just, you need to enjoy that day. I feel like she was so in, like, really focused on making sure everybody else enjoys it. And I'm like, but it's also about you. Bless her. She,
Oh,
WhatsApp, which I've never sat at a community by the way. But before I don't know what the hell, how to use it.
on there and I'm like, what's that? And I've just
Yes.
You know?
So it's basically where you can make announcements. So she'd set it up with all her guests. So on the lead up to the day she was like posting little messages like three days to go, two days to go which was, which was nice and posting little like this is how we met and this is, you know things like that. And then on the day during the drinks reception she'd taken a picture of the alpacas and was like come and see the alpacas!
Oh
like, I didn't even know where my phone was for like two days over my wedding. I'm like, what's a phone? She's there doing announcements like everybody to the gardens please to see the alpacas.
On the day?
Yes!
What?
I think she was just so
That
enjoy it.
Yeah.
her.
that's quite
I know when I got the message I was like, sorry, unless she'd give it to a bridesmaid or something. I don't buy it.
Yeah,
highly doubt that
it's a do. Yeah, exactly. It sounds like it was her
Yeah, so that was my week and it's just, it's just countdowns now. It's craziness. I've got my last full plan of the year next week, which is at Kensington Palace. So still a lot to do because it was a last minute wedding. So yeah, still, still got bits to do. And things like taxis and stuff like that, like off all the.
Well, that last minute kind
Yeah, and yeah. It's really just like the countdown to the end of wedding season now, because I'm so freaking tired. 5th of October,
Oh,
so not far at all. It's like five weeks. I've literally got a wedding every Saturday now, for the next three weeks, and then and then I'm on holiday for a week, and then I've got two left. So, yeah, but I've only got Saturdays now, it's just one a week so yeah, it's, it's not, it's not too bad. Yeah, but I shouldn't moan. I'm happy to be busy. We love it. Love in life, but I'm just very tired now.
I, you know, I, well, it's a long day, isn't it, for you? So you're there all
It is, and I just feel like it's just all go, isn't it? And, and like I say, my season started in February, so I normally, it's, it's very early.
yeah,
So I'm at this point, and I had my own wedding in between. So it's just been a
Been a busy year, hasn't
like, mental, and I cannot believe we're nearly in September. Like, what the hell?
I'm literally like, I swear this year has just flown by.
Yeah, I mean, you've had a baby, so that's probably why. Yeah,
weird though, like, she's seven months old now and I just can't believe it. I'm like, what the hell? Like, we're
that's nuts.
her being a year old.
Should be at school soon. Should be graduating.
Oh God!
Bless her.
God. Yeah,
her. Yeah, nuts. Yeah.
So I I saw something quite interesting this
Oh,
on TikTok. Good old
she's, she's had time to be on the TikTok.
I have had time to,
I've,
on
I haven't.
you know, you know me. And I say I have, actually, funny enough, Richard actually found, Richard,
Oh, did he? Yeah, I love it when people do that. Like, you know,
little eye out for me, but, and he showed me. Yeah,
you videos, like wedding stuff, you're like, yeah, this is really good. Thanks.
is good. So basically this couple have gone on TikTok and and the, like the first thing you see is how we did our wedding for six grand.
Right.
that's like
That's the hook.
That's
That's the hook, people. I wanna watch this.
How have you done this? And the thing that they did that I thought was the most interesting was they hired an Airbnb for two days.
Okay.
to like a wedding venue. actually hired an AirBnB and it cost them like 600 quid
What?
hire this AirBnB.
Just
so,
night?
I think they had it for two nights,
Right.
and and then so they had the AirBnB, so they paid for that for two nights and they had their ceremony costs. They said their ceremony costs were like 270, which,
Okay, midweek registrar, potentially, yeah. Or registry office, maybe.
yeah, and then what they did was have all of their, for food, they ordered dominoes and they got all their
Ha! Oh, God.
to basically make something or bring something with them.
Right.
they did, it was all like, it was like a garden party kind of vibe. And
Okay, yeah.
of, she did her own hair and makeup. And then they did spend money out on photographer, but they said the photographer was 150
Okay. Okay, so there's a lot of things there that we don't agree with.
that's it.
But the
like,
is, is an interesting point.
thing for me was the fact that they decided rather than go to like a wedding venue
Yeah.
an Airbnb. So I was like, wow, this is, this is quite interesting. Great idea, I thought initially. I think from reading comments and delving into it a little bit further, I think you have to be very careful because some Airbnbs don't cover. So say if you just invited loads of people there, like their insurance won't cover for like more
No, yeah, you're right. That's correct. Yeah.
Yeah, so if
Was this in the UK?
or, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, so we had the same situation back in April. We did a 50th birthday party at a stately home as an Airbnb, and they don't do weddings and they don't do events. They just hire out the place and we had no end of problems because you're only supposed to have like 16 people. And then after they booked.
It was a bit, I then got involved and obviously spoke to the venue and they were a bit, well, not the venue, the Airbnb, and they were a bit like, oh, we need to charge extra because there's more people come in and there's extra insurances and yeah, that's right. Then they wanted things like security on site and yeah, parking attendance.
day, I think, I don't know whether this couple, because the comments were like, Oh, I don't know if you were insured for that. And because if something
Yeah, well, they've done it now
I mean, yeah. But I think,
maybe the Airbnb I want you're right there I wonder if they knew and if they didn't are they gonna get in touch with them now from this viral tik tok to be like Well, you should have been paid a sec Cuz a lot of these but you know when you go on Airbnb the maximum number of guests you can actually put I think Think is 12 because you see a lot of places that actually say like in the comments, like we can actually sleep like 18 and actually, so if you're booking an Airbnb for 12 people and then
you're having like 40 people turn up, like, yeah, that's imagine like owning an Airbnb and having like three times the amount of people, like you don't know what the neighbors are like, like, yeah, you don't have a tens license for that. Like, which is a temporary event notice from the council. Yeah,
of, There's a lot of benefits, but there's also a lot of like, I don't know, negatives to it. Because I feel like if you haven't looked into it properly and you did that and you just assumed that that's okay, and then something happens and you're not
that's the thing. Yeah, you don't know what could happen.
You
And if you, if, if,
lot of money.
exactly, and if the Airbnb owner turns up and kicks you out, your
Yeah,
is ruined.
when you're walking down
Yeah, but I'm not, like, opposed to it because there is a couple of lovely venues in Northampton, for example, where we are that are state, like, kind of stately homes, but they are converted into, like, apartments almost for, like, people. For B& B. So they're on Airbnb. So I think always look, because some of these actually, if you contact them direct, they will let you hire the whole place out and have an event. And there's one literally close to us in Malton which, which is a stunning house.
And they advertise, they don't really advertise as a wedding venue, but If you go in your local area, the area you want to get married in and look on Airbnb, you could probably find, search for a big house and contact them direct. And actually, yeah, you're right, you might get a good price. But 600 a night, they must have somewhere quite small, because anywhere that's like a fair size is a lot of money.
was
Like, you're looking at a couple of grand a night.
Yeah. Yeah, and then you think oh, I thought it was splitting it between whatever
Even more than that, the house, the house
than a venue, I suppose
yeah, exactly, yeah. Exactly. Like, some, you know, houses we were looking at for the event in April, you're looking at like 3, 000 a night. So,
Yeah
it might not work. And actually, also, what they did was they hired the house, then they hired me, and they hired a private chef, because you still need all those staff on site, so actually, sometimes when you work it out, is it Easier to just go to a venue who's already got the staff there and stuff.
and the insurance and everything and the liability and all that
Yeah,
but important
intrigued I need to go and find this video because did they show any videos of the hat? Like what was it? Like i'm I was envisaged with an airbnb like an apartment or like a normal house Do you know what I mean? Like
So it's in Norfolk, the venue. And
on north of my home home county
hometown. So it looks to me like it's kind of, it's like a, an old kind of barn, kind of
Okay
conversion looking like a farmhouse, I guess is probably the right word, but it's quite big. Yeah. It's got like a big conservatory and stuff. And from the looks of things, they had their legal ceremony at the local, local registry office
Yeah,
in a castle nearby, is
well norwich castle is the registry office in norwich
Oh, is
Yeah, the registry office is in the castle. It's probably one of the best registry offices in the country. So yeah, if you want to elope to a, obviously is in the city center, you know, there is parking and not at the registry office, there's local parking. But yeah, you are in the middle of a massive city, but the castle in Norwich is immense. Yeah. Really cool.
that's
Yeah.
Also, I got it wrong. They actually did the whole thing within a budget of three grand, not six grand.
I'm gonna call bullshit on that because I guarantee you know a lot of people come out with these figures You see on Facebook groups as well like well I did my whole wedding for 8, 000 pounds, and I'm like actually Jane if you sat down and wrote down Actually every single thing that you paid for like down to gifts stuff for your bridesmaids
Yeah, all those
like
bobs, it all adds up.
It all adds up. Your jewelry, having your hair done. I guarantee you spent a lot more money than you thought you did.
Yeah, I
People always think, people put their price on the venue, the photographer, the catering on the day of the wedding like hair, like the key suppliers. I don't think of everything else. That's the thing. So I I
And
call bullshit.
They said that they've done mis Like, well, they've said miscellaneous. The miscellaneous stuff cost 100.
Yeah, like what is that?
ven INCLUDES CONFETTI AND VENUE DECOR. For
what decor did you have? Like, also, yeah, it depends how fussy you are. Like, also, how many guests did they have? Does it say?
So they've had, I can see here that they've got, two, four, six, six. They've got six round tables with nine
Oh, okay.
there's quite a
Oh, so there's actually, like, quite a big room in this house then
It's
for them to,
it's all outside. Weather because they've
wow.
round tables outside. There's no cover, no nothing.
So they got six round tables and then they ordered a dominoes to, like, formal tables.
Yeah. They ordered dominoes, which their guests loved, and also all of our guests made or baked something.
Oh, yeah. That's weird. Sorry, but I think it is. If someone said to me, oh, can you come to my wedding, but can you bake something?
but like,
I'd be like, I ain't got time for that, mate.
Yeah, no, sorry.
I've got other weddings to run. Yeah, like, what, but then who managed that? Who ordered the dominoes on the day? Who collected the dominoes? Did it stay in the boxes? Was it put out nicely? Who put the plates out? Who? Do you know what I mean?
There's so many, there's
I bet their
what
bridesmaids, they're I do, I want to be a fly on the wall. I bet their bridesmaids got roped in a lot, to a lot of duties on that day. Is what I'm gonna say. Also, dominoes, then what, what about later on, like your dominoes ain't gonna last you all day, is it? Ha!
go for all the baked goods the guests bought. You know what I mean? Oh Nan's
oh, I'm intrigued by this, I'm gonna have a little look. But yeah, I'm very intrigued to know whether they did contact, they might have contacted the Airbnb and said, maybe the Airbnb wants to become a wedding venue and they've said, can we do this? And they've gone, yeah, no worries, not realising themselves that, You, you can't just do that.
Yeah,
And I wonder if they sold alcohol or bought their own. Probably just bought their own. Do you think it was like a bring a bottle kind of vibe? Because you don't need a TENS license for that.
Yeah, I
only need a,
would have been. Yeah, I would have
yeah, you only need a temporary event notice if you're, if alcohol's being sold. Or, to be honest, I'd always get a temporary event notice anyway, because if you're having music and the neighbours complain, if you've got an event notice, The police can't come and close it down because the council have agreed to it because it gets, the local community gets told, unless obviously it's over the time that the council's agreed, which is normally 11 o'clock.
But yeah, it, it goes into the local, not that anybody ever reads anything the local council does, but they almost let people know that that
Yeah,
is, is happening. That's what the event notice is for. Yeah. So if you've got that and the police turn up, you'll be alright. But I bet they didn't think of that either. But it might be in the middle of nowhere. There's a lot of houses in the middle of nowhere in Norfolk. But
I'll bet that it looks like it is. It's quite a big place. It looks like some private land. It's got a big garden space.
how would you get that for 600 quid a night? Again, I call bullshit. That, for a house in Norfolk.
for three nights.
Yeah, that's crap. I'm sorry, you can't even get, like, an apartment for, for 200 quid a night on Airbnb.
really cheap for Airbnb.
cheap.
it was on a Tuesday and they said, someone's asked, did you have to tell the Airbnb you're using it for a wedding? And did you book vendors to the Airbnb? And they've said, we told them we were getting married and asked if we could have friends and family over in the garden and hire furniture.
Oh, okay. I wonder if they told them how many people. I'm gonna, I'm gonna have to, I'm gonna have to deep delve into this a little bit. Find out more.
Okay.
I wonder,
And they
things like, yeah, that's quite a lot. What I wonder as well, like what about parking and stuff? It must have been a big place to get it for 200 quid a night. You know when things like this go viral on TikTok and it's always like, oh, we always say, isn't it, it's all smoke and mirrors.
Yeah.
if they knew the person that owned it.
Probably.
And they said, oh yeah, throw me, throw me 600 quid to cover the, you know, the electric and the, and the cleaning fee. And
It says here, Did your Airbnb let you have a party? And they said, We only had people over until 7pm and then we went out with our friends.
well, there you go.
So
Yeah.
it is.
There it is! And it definitely wasn't 600 quid. I'm gonna find this house and I'm gonna look it up on Airbnb and I'm gonna get the price and I'm gonna put it on our Instagram. Ha ha! Because there's no way you're gonna get a big, like, a house big enough with a garden for 50 people, like, a nice place in Norfolk with country where you're 200 pounds a night.
That's
No.
And I reckon, that's obviously the caveat there, is that they were only allowed people till like 7 o'clock or whatever. So then they've
But do you think they then kicked them out? That's the thing.
They said
would take the mick. Yeah. There's no way they'd have gone out at 7 o'clock. They would have just got everybody in the house. Or, or maybe half the people had left. Maybe they thought, oh, you know, grandparents and stuff are gonna leave and we'll just keep, like, our core best mates. So there's like 15 of us or something in this house.
Yeah.
how many bed people it slept, the house? I'm like, look,
it.
I'm on my detective mode.
She hasn't replied to say where how much, like how much it was or where it was or what it was called. Like, none of that's been replied to.
That's why I feel like it could just be they're trying to go viral on TikTok and it's,
Yeah.
it could be though? It could be that maybe they own it or friends own it and then when people are asking, their private messaging them are like, oh this is how you can rent the house. Do you know what I mean? And it's like a sales tactic.
if I get a reply.
Could be, yes, it could be a very good marketing stunt, you know?
Well, that's
good marketing stunt.
oh, where's this Airbnb? And then they get like, they could own it. It could be
yeah
That's it.
We're all we're all with the conspiracy theories today. Oh Well,
here.
there we go. We'll try and follow up on this We'll try and follow up. Nice. Shall we go into listeners questions and messages?
Yes. So someone's asked, when I go for my alterations, do I leave my dress and come back for it at a later date, or do I stay nearby?
Yeah.
Oh.
longer than a day. I think they mean, you know like when you Sorry, I shouldn't laugh. Because people don't know these things! You know like when you go and get your key cut or something and they're like, oh, just go off for an hour.
hang on.
Do some shopping.
yeah. Oh no, it can take weeks though, the alterations.
no, you have to leave it. Which can be arse if, like, so I wanted to use a specific, like who you used as well. Lisa Lyons. She's fabulous. She's in Harpenden But she was like an hour and a half drive from my house So you'd have to go drop it off and then pick it up Yeah, you do need to leave it there. That's the answer to that one, isn't it?
mine. I obviously got mine dressed, altered by the same lady you did. So,
Yeah.
but yeah, it was sort of, you go, you have like an appointment, an initial appointment, and they obviously don't.
Yeah
and figure out what they're going to do and then you leave it They do the alterations then you come back try it on if there's more to do Then they might keep it and do a little bit more but normally it's like that's done
Yeah
and then you might either they'll say we can keep it for you until the Week before and then pick it up or you can take it away with you and there I
Yeah, so mine was a bit, yeah, slightly different. Cause I didn't actually go for my, like my fittings until about six weeks before. Because yeah, she was just like come nearer the time. I think, I think if you pre book it in, they know they've got the time to then do it, cause it actually probably does only take them a day or two to actually do them, but yeah, it's having time to fit you in around everybody else.
And then I picked it up literally like, Well, actually, because I had two weddings, so I picked up my first dress, I picked them up both together and I picked them up a week before my first wedding. So it was a week before my first wedding and about four weeks before my second wedding. But she did have to take in a couple of little bits, but she just literally did it there and then, but they were just like a couple of like tiny little bits.
do, can't they?
Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, so there might be a couple bits to it, but no, if you haven't had any aerations done and you've gotta get it all, ma, I mean, the measuring up and stuff, that takes a good hour and an hour and a half, don't it?
Yeah, you're there for a while while they, while they do
Yeah. Pinning it all and stuff.
it. Yeah.
Yeah,
That always makes me nervous when they're like, pinning. And I'm like, Please don't
me. I, I'm like that when I put people's buttonholes on,
Oh
oh,
yeah. I
if I prick you,
a buttonhole on I'm just like, I made them, I don't want to put them on, I don't want that responsibility.
Oh. But I keep meaning to say to you there's some really nice pictures in my wedding gallery of you putting Martin and his best man's buttonholes on. They're so cute. It was so nice to see.
It's a nice photo, to be fair. Like, if a friend, but not the florist doing it. Come on.
Yes, maybe.
you know what I mean? You don't
Yeah,
you don't want your florist
I suppose,
just do that yourselves, you know?
yeah, I normally do it for people 'cause they don't do it properly,
Yeah I've, I've had it before where a photographer did it and literally she stuck the pin through the stem of the flower and just broke the head off of the
Oh, no.
And I was just like, right, this is where I leave. No, I
Yeah.
one, but it was just
Bye bye.
doing?
Yes, you did not do that properly. You did not go to buttonhole fastening training school.
Yeah, I didn't,
