I had five hours and fifty five minutes of sleep because I stayed up late last night watching You're the Hobbit, right,
you said I finished all three as well? I started part one on Sunday. Well, because are you doing the whole everything wh saga? I guess I don't know. Yeah, I don't know yet, because I think I like the Hobbit movies better. We're like the minority on that. Here's the thing. I have it on my like max Q of the extended editions. But I'm like, oh, I got it, I gotta sit down for
this. But there's really nothing good with the extended editions. Well, I also I'm not going to watch both to compare, because that's like seven hours comparing just the same movie. Okay, but anyway, back to Hobbit. You're you finish all three three last night? Well? If? Yeah,
I finished, because I started my lego. I built the Millennium Falcon from the Starship collection, maybe to build a Lord of the Rings lego while you were watching No, and I thought, I know, I wanted to film it, But then I was like, no, because everyone's gonna come for me to right, because I already started it because I didn't want to go. I've already how many times have we seen Star Wars? Like come on,
I mean I can watch it again and again and again. I know, but I love Star Wars day marathons because it's just here's the whole thing, back to back to back. But I also didn't know which one to start with. Which Star Wars do I do New Hope? Do I start the Fatas Manas? Like? Where do I start the Nukels? Never start with a newkel Oh you hat the Newkels so much? The Force Awakens is good, but then it's down downhill. Well they should never change directors.
Let JJ do his thing well or stick with what Ryan Johnson was trying to do either or yeah too. But so you watched all three of them. Finished two it's true, okay, and the third ones no, No, I finished the second and third yesterday, Well you listen not listening to me? You're not listening. We went on a tangent. That's that's, oh god, Desolation of Small and then it's the Five Armies. Yes, so I watched
Smaug and Five Armies. Yes. Yeah. While I was building my lego, I think I saw a Smaug Small Small in theaters and I was like, man, that movie just ended abruptly, making you go watch number three. Yeah, it happened to Where's the Thing? All that's just the one book, that's just the Hobbit, so right, which but it wasn't that. But that wasn't part of that. I remember remember the eighties cartoons. I never watched that. You didn't. I watched it a million when it
happened. So it's on Max. You watched it again? It is, Yeah, it's part of it. Is it Lord of the Rings or just the Hobbit? It's the Hobbit? Is it's the Lord of the Rings one too? Never watched that one. Okay, the Hobbit one is the legit? Okay, okay, continue, But so I finished. That was my day yesterday, I building lego and watching two movies, back to movies. And that's why I went to sleep at ten, had finished the Lego at like six. Then I just turned on five Armies and just kept going.
Now you're positive to get food or you're just letting it roll, letting it roll. I don't need to get food. I gotta pose, you gotta posit. We cook it up and going back to it. How many times you've seen the movie that you don't know what's gonna happen, like quoting the scenes and seeing them happen. Star Wars porkins. I love seeing them die every time. Oh my god, Star Wars Nerds are just something different. Man, Well we'll get to that. Don't you worried? Don't you worry
because we're talking about our Awesome Con experiences because we both went. We're the intention of hanging out. We hung out for five minutes, maybe five minutes. Maybe I blame you for that. I don't blame me. I am glad. I blame whoever runs Awesome. I am glad. I did not buy the Smallville small autograph or the Smallville picture. The picture would have been
quicker because we we well, all right, here's the whole thing. You've heard this because we've talked about in the past, Like three weeks we went to Awesome Con. Eric is bringing his son, I was bringing Mora and my brother John. My brother wanted to get Rosario Dawson's autograph on his lego because he just built it. Apparently not a lot of people signed lego, so if you want to get in with some celebrities, have him signed your
lego. And we bought the photo for Hayden Christisen plays anakin. I can't have you know, Vin Diesel signed my you signed my car, my car, put family familiar Corona, go ahead, all right? And so we get there. We said, Eric, you know you don't need to be there. We're getting there early on Saturday. Got there at ten o'clock. Her line starts whenever she gets there. And I don't blame any of the
actors for anything that's going to happen. Why not, you should know, because it was the sort of scheduling of things them being you know, you know, it's it's never them. Sorry, it's never them. So we've got management that are divas, that make them look like divas. I have a firm belief in that in my nineteen years of being in this damn radio industry, it's always the management or the handlers that make the actors or celebrities look like divas. So we get in line, Hey, she's got Rosaria
Dawson's got photos. At eleven o'clock, we're like, oh, dang, we missed it. Okay, we'll come back. She comes back at two o'clock, got in line on one thirty. Nah, fam, she's got photos. At four o'clock. Hey, we didn't make it that far in line. We didn't get her autographed till seven forty five pm, forty five minutes after the convention closed. Yo, And we made it before the cutoff,
which was dope. What I don't get though, is why didn't she just come do the autographs first at ten when you guys started, and then go do the photo because they're assigned a certain time. And so what what happened is and happened with for Hayden, thing is all right, Rosario, were doing eleven o'clock. Hopefully we'll get everyone done by eleven thirty so you can do your next wave. But people are late, people don't show up,
people don't know what they're doing, so that backs up everything. And so that caused our photo of Hayten Christensen that was supposed to be a five five like o'clock, to be at six thirty. It said yes. And here's the funny thing was Hayden Hayden Christensen had autographs from ten till eleven as well, and he wasn't coming back to do autographs till five o'clock. So we're in line of five thirty. Well, good god, thank goodness,
we didn't do Hayten Christensen's autograph. We met him twice, which is cool because our photo fucked up, and uh so we took the photo. Great. He shook our hands. We didn't wash our hands for a while, even though we probably should have because we we had that moment of we sat on the convention floor waiting in line. Did you really eight hours in line? Yeah, you reached the point where like I would have got a chair, buddy chairs that grabbed a chair to walk my big ass the other side
and grab chair. But so we shook hands with him our shirts. That was great. We go to get our photo printed, taken longer than normal. Okay, that's fine, it's a great photo. They had a high quality print or whatever. Yeah, hey the printer ate your photo. Sorry, like, but you can retake your photo against We got to meet them twice, which was cool. So did you go back at the end line or you know, they just to where we were at the pickup photo.
They put us like quickly right there, which is good. Thank god. I feel bad for the digital version. Yes, we got that already too, That's why I post on Instagram. So that was okay, you take a picture of the picture. No, I would do that I have a digital version. I done that. I was taking it because it was another ten dollars. That's for a physical. Oh that was for the print. Yes, it was for the jpegy right, but everyone was paying it Like everyone was like, yeah, I got posted on the gram. Take a
picture of the picture. That looks because there's glare. If you angle it right, it's fine. And I don't get the glare, and he keeps the picture. Did you both get a picture? Gave it her? Mom, Oh, because you wanted a photo of us with Santa. And we're like, we're never doing that. There's our Santa y, Yeah, here's our Santa. Hated Christian frame it. Yeah, I think my brother framed on the way home and gave it her. But then so we get out
of that, it's like six forty five. We have more waiting for us in line the whole entire time, and uh, we come back. She's like I can't do this anymore. Like it's fine, you earned it. You go home, and we're like, I don't know, we're gonna get cut off before she has this next thing. We make the cutoff, made some good friends, met a listener. It was great, got a bunch of people listening to podcast awesome, and we said, hey, Mauram,
don't take that uber home. Baby, we got the autograph, we're taking you home. She's very silent until we got in the car and got some taco bell. But you know what, that's okay. She she had that taco bell today. Huh should we go to taco bell? It okay? When I get that stupid and panata thing though, no, don't get that again. No? All right? So then what else that was? That was your experience? Yeah, I mean that was the shortened suite of it.
But we saw you for five minutes is on Christ christis where twenty five minutes and I was like, I can't do another twenty five with that again. I'm good, I'll go right now. But we had your five minutes with you, which is great. It was great. And hold on one more thing. Then we had people visit us. We had movie Eric visit us in line again, might it come so late? There was like a big accident from where he was driving from, so it was like an hour
backup or something. Yeah, thank god man, because he's says the two for when we were huh, wonder that was? But yeah, no, it was fun. I think we had to get talk. Oh. So we get there at like eleven. It took forever to find that press room. Yes, because I told you, because that's why I went Friday to go pick up badges for myself and more because and brother John John, my brother, because I knew like we had to get there quickly. Yeah, and it was a good move and so luckily, and that's why I also
wanted to scout out what way we would go in. You went in the way I told you right, No, through the the second building's double doors. Didn't do that. No, because we parked where I parked. We were the complete opposite side. And when I was raining, I didn't want it to walk through the rain with Max and the wall. Three Convention Center is two buildings really connected by a big like Overpaskway or whatever. And so if you go on the front, you're like, oh, I see Somede
said one fiftnine. Ay, that's the room. I says, this way, And all of a sudden you get to a dead end. Wait where'd the sign go? Oh? I gotta go back around and then go up and down here. Well, yeah, so I asked somebody. They told me where it was. It was a long walk go to get my press pass and I should have told him I too, but got mine, and the lady's like, all right, we gotta go get your kids pass at the at the main things. Then we had to walk all the way past
to the front, wait in line, get back to his pass. The whole time he's wearing my press pass. And then when we got his past, the guy's like, yeah, you should probably wear the press pass and give him this child's pass, and then you should wear the child's right. But they were actually checking because a guy caught a lady and a kid and he was like, where's your pass? And it was kind of like, all right, buddy, what's a lady with a kid? Like? Let
her go through? It's the matter, you know. But we got in and I think Max is already sensory overload. My son Max is already just like what is this? And he went last year, now, which way did you come in where the the marine the old thing was or by the marines? The Marines? Okay that was where that's the way you had to come through, And so we went that way. We went to the kids area. I think I don't know, maybe next year might be too big,
but he really went. He liked watching the kids in their cosplay thing because we got there right when they're doing the parade. I think it's still you're like ten, so, but you never know. And so we were an excuse to where that all costume really right, and that's what I mean. And that was cool and they got a little metal and Max loved it and he wanted to Teddy, I can't see him, like, well, then get up there, buddy, like I'm trying to get on him,
you know, go up there. And then we went down one of the aisles and just for like overloaded with toys equipment, stoff Pokemon cards. Bought a bunch of those bottom three more Pokemon keychains because one broke last year, so I got to fix found I figured out why because it pop open easily, so I'm a super glue the side shut so they don't open, so that way he doesn't lose the card and it doesn't nothing happen. And he got a score Bunny score Bunny's evolution and the big dragon looking thing yep,
m hmm. With all ones that neither my brother I or knew. We're like, okay, that's the new ones. We don't know those. Yeah, so he got those and then we saw Hoodie. He was a little awkward because he overload. We saw AR two D two come from that fifty to one fifty first Troop, I, first Legion, thank you. They were pretty cool, and we walked back because we want to find the Nintendo table because last year he got a lot of great swag. This year that
wasn't that good stuff. It was pretty much the same stuff from last year, right, but it was Zelda patches and Kirby patches year. Yeah. I think it's also I think last year they had games that were like out no they had they didn't So this year they had the new Princess Peach game, which comes out next week I think it is, Yeah, for two weeks. So you get demo that maxim On demo that he just started demoing other games. It was playing the three the Mario Brothers where it's Mario with
the water cannon, Mario whatever. So he starts playing that and I'm just like I'm just staying there, like, okay, we're doing this because they're holding the Kirby patches, they're hiding them. So he got a Kirby patch because he likes Kirby, and I got the Zelda patches and the other stuff, and then we walked back down and Max then got Daddy to buy him a Thor's Hammer meal mirror before it got broken. Yes, so it's a OG version of OG with the strap. So that was forty dollars. Hey,
it could have been one hundred and twenty. That's what the like the Black Series actual toy version of it is. And at the like, well, this is rubber proppy version. It's rubbery as hell and it's pretty heavy. So where'd you guys buy it from? Like it? Uh? One of the weapons, yeah, one of the weapons things. There's two of them, and he stopped earlier at one of them to play with one of the guns, and I'm like, let's go, buddy. I'm like, let's go, let's go. I'll buy you a T shirt, but I'm
not going to buy you one of these fake guns. And then we came back the second time and he stopped and he was looking at the swords again and then he saw Thor's Hammer. Here you go, here is the key blade right from Kingdom Hearts. So then he saw Thor's Hammer and I was like Oh, that's cool. I was like, that's a little big. And then he saw like a miniature verse of storm Breaker, but I was like, no, it's still a little big for you, buddy. And
then I was like, fine, let's just see how much. Just let's see how much Thor's Hammer costs. And he goes thirty five for the strap, forty four out or forty with the strap, thirty five without the strap, and I was like, fine, let's do the strappy one. Yeah, I mean at that point might and the kid did not put it down. He had it with him all day Saturday off for New Saturday, Saturday night, Sunday he had it with him all day Sunday, Sunday night.
He almost slept with that thing Sunday night in the bed. And it's in my room the same place he left it, because I know if I move it, you'll know he will no sense it and he'll get pissed. So Max walked away king. He got three key chains and Thor's hammer, hamm, did you buy anything for yourself besides the key chain? No, I didn't, and I didn't get anything with myself because he wasn't really like letting me look. And I was just like Goddy legos he found because there was
some legos staying in so there was a lego stand. But little Man, we walk up to one of them and he's like, all these benefigures are fake, daddy. And I'm like, the acts don't say that they are, but don't say that. I don't say it. He's like, this is a fake mini fake daddy. I'm like, all right, shut up, kid, Like they're trying to make money. Yeah, some of these are pretty cool, Like they're cool. What they're fake, They're cool,
They're not lies. Is my lego. They're definitely not like got number number five. But and then we finished we saw you again for this We saw you twice, right, yeah, yes, because we passed by you when we were in our artist alley when More was buying ear rings. Right, and Max loved all the artists stuff. I think he really he really does doing artwork. So he's definitely like looking at all the different like I mean some of those anime things were like whoa guys, I forgot about this.
I didn't tell this on Crazious Yesterday. This is my favorite thing. So we're in line for Rosario Dawson and this guy comes up to us. Is this the Rosario Dawson. I'm like, yeah, yeah, like where's the line? Like and like back there in his hands he had a framed photo of Aska and skimpy skimpy bikini with like the whole thing, because that's the thing you can buy at the end. Yeah, We're like, what the
hell is the reaction going to be when she has to sign that? And we like to think that she never got to sign it, but she probably didn't because there was one guy who had all these girls in bikinis working out and it's just like he drew all of them. But I'm like, damn, bro like like this is like a little really unrealistic. So but actually liked it. I wouldn't know. I wouldn't know. I would know, hoodie, because I have multiple you know that are on the block a little
bit there. We know you've been around the block. You have a child, so I have a child. Then we walked back to the car. It was still raining. MAXI great with his door's hand. I'm right in his hand and as soon as we get in the car, out like a light. He says, he didn't fall asleep. I'm like, Poppy, I was calling your name five times you were out, took a picture of him passed out, put all the photos and everything on my social media at mister Eric V there. I did not stop and look at Funko because I think there's so much of them because like a lot of people, one we're getting them signed
and so That's the thing. If you go to a convention like that, is by if you want someone to sign, like a Daredevil or a Soca Pop, buy it beforehand because they might sell it there, but they're gonna upsell the poop out of it because they know you want to buy it to get it signed or something. You know, yes, and uh, And I didn't look at any of the pops. And I did see though, there was a couple of uh retro game places. And I did look at the game boys. I did. I saw them too, and they weren't
that bad as one hundred bucks bat. The one I found was one ten. Yeah, I almost ripped it, almost ripped it. I was about to be like, and then I should Max have never seen it any s game. You never seen a cartridge. He'd never seen a cartridge. Is
everything that on DVD you're downloadable? So he's like, and he was looking for Mario Brothers cartridge and one of the Lick the Bins, but it was in the cagey because I was like, Max, is an expensive game, No one let's to touch it. I don't let anybody touch gravy figures. And then we found the brick. The brick people and they took a picture in front of the Charmander. Oh, and there was a vendor that had I think I told you that you can get custom Legos that light up now
whatever if they're not whatever. Yeah, there was one. There was one that was selling a bunch of custom ones like that too. They had lightsabers. There were a hundred bucks of lightsabers. Oh, light up little tiny lights. No, they weren't little tiny though, full sized lightsabers. Because they also had all these They had Pokemon, they poke balls you could buy, they had Charmander, they had all this crazy stuff. So yeah, I was. I was. It's a lot. It's a lot for a
little guy and a dad. But it's definitely the same app ething set up as last year's this year. Yeah, but I think it's funny as you go in with different looks, Like you weren't looking at Funkos. Really you're more into Legos now. I'm more into that set of cars all multiple Legos called Lego sets. Fine, like Lego sets okay uh, And then I'm into that on Pokemon collection. Then did you were you able to die?
I bought a couple of them because I went Friday the bick of the badges, and I bought a couple then, and then I went to the same booth on Saturday. They had one across and I bought two cards, but some of them are like like much. It was like the Charizard card, which is like the Barrarest one. I think you could buy it online for like ninety, but there was like one fifty. But hey, no, you can only haggle if you were buying multiple things, and I did haggle.
I bought like six cards from one guy that should have been like sixty bucks to give it to me for forty bucks really, because I was like, oh yeah, I told people about you, Grace. Well not in the podcast, but I guess sure. The Canto Boys and Pokemn collectibles, there you go, there you go. I don't know where they are now because I looked them up online couldn't find them.
