Ladies and gentlemen, boys and.
Girls, children of all ages, Welcome to another edition of Let's Get Biblical with your host, a man formerly in the world of entertainment as a stand up comedian and actor, now an evangelist for Christ.
Here he is your host, my host, our host KD. Welcome everybody to another edition of Let's Get Biblical right here on your favorite podcasting platform wherever you may be listening to us, whether it's speaker, Spotify, Apple, iTunes, and more. We broadcast to seventeen countries on seventeen platforms worldwide. And I know what you're thinking, you old timers of believing in the Lord, the white haired wisdom carriers, kind of like myself. Or maybe you're a atheist and non believer.
Someone's starting out your faith and you hear this hippity hoppity nonsense to start a biblical show. Yes, this is a different type of biblical show, brought to you in part by yours truly and of course the Lord above. And what we do is we take the good old bibl e the basic constructions before leaving Earth manual, wrap them around your life, my life, and the collective world of around us, trying to understand what the Lord is
trying to speak to us at that time. And sometimes these podcasts aren't just made for you, they're made for me because I get out of this as much as I give into it for you guys. So thank you guys for listening over the last several years. Make sure you check us out on YouTube as well. We are on Let's Get Biblical with Katie's. Sometimes we'll do some
quick private sermons over there. We'll also have some funny videos over there and more and quick memes things of that nature that you can share on your social media outlets as well, because remember, it's about spreading the gospel, and in twenty twenty six, the best way to spread the gospel is to take programs like this, videos that you see and share them because you're doing just that,
sharing the gospel. And today we're going to talk about something interesting that I didn't really know much about until I got into my student ministry studies through my local church and also Global University online. We're going to talk about the time in the Bible where God was completely silent and why it is important to just listen in
those moments of silence. You see what I did there some of y'all just turned off the podcast to something you thought happened to your iPod or iTunes or anything like that. No, nothing like that. But there's a time in the Bible, from the Old Testament to the New Testament, over four hundred years were spanned where God didn't speak. Can you imagine that today? Can you imagine that a
world where God did not speak? And maybe you're a non believer right now, maybe you're an atheist and you're like, I can't hear him speak it, Well, this is the opportunity to listen because he's actually talking to you. There's a reason why you're listening to this podcast right now. There's a reason why somebody said, Hey, John, Joey Jane, check out this podcast. This guy's a former stand up
comedian and an actor. But he's talking very biblically. I think you'll like this guy because I never know what he's gonna say next. Listen. I'm gonna be honest with you guys out there in podcast land. I never know what I'm gonna say next. Okay, it's delivered by the good old Lord. All right. It's always been that way.
When I was a stand up comic. So that's what we do here on the show is we take those good old verses and we talk about topics like the four hundred years of silence from God, and what we do is we wrap around testimony of my life, your life, collective world around us in hopes of transformation for myself and you guys out there. Okay, it's like sitting down at a dinner table and now we finished dinner, we're gonna have dessert, and you're like, all right, why do
you look so good? Or why is your job working so well for you? Why is your marriage working so well? Well, now we're going to discuss it, and now you're going to wonder why the whole thing comes together, and that's because of God. So let's talk a little bit about our topic today, which is the four hundred years of silence that God gave from the Old Testament. At the end, which was the Book of Malachi starting to be one of my favorites. It's only about, you know, four chapters long.
So if you're new and you're looking for a book to read, start in Malachi. If you want it's only a couple chapters, Okay, then go to the Book of proverbs. It's kind of like little fortune cookies for you. And each and every one of those chapters is designed around each and every day of the month. There's thirty one proverbs hmmm, and almost thirty one days and every month. So something for you to think about. Then move on to the New Testament. This is where you'll get to
know Jesus through his disciples, which is fantastic. But today that four hundred years of silence, that's interesting, right. Here's God in the whole Old Testament trying to speak through Noah, Adam and Eve, through the wars and famine, the kings, through slavery. He tried to speak. He's kind of like that dad that kept trying to show you listen, you need to listen. Listen, you need to listen. Listen. He starts shaking it and you don't listen, and then all
of a sudden he goes quiet. I don't know about you, but my father in the past, when I wouldn't listen to him and he goes silent and just kind of sit in his chair, that's when I really tried to listen. So going from the Old Testament to the New Testament, which is getting ready to have the birth of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, and things there are going to come. All these things in the Old Testament had to happen in order to get to the New Testament. But why was
he quiet? Well, like a good father, he wanted you to come to him. And this may be that opportunity right now for you non believers out there. You're going through a period in your life where it's quiet, nothing's moving. You may be banging your head against the ceiling and wondering what's next for you. You can't get to the next part of your life. You can't get that promotion, you can't get that spouse, and you're fighting with your parents,
or you're fighting with your girlfriend or boyfriend. And even though the world may sound chaotic in the outside world, your inside is really quiet because He's waiting for you to come to him and speak to him and talk to him. This is the same thing during that four hundred years of silence. I really believe in it. I believe this is where God saying, I want you guys to come to me now. I want you to seek me.
For instance, I was sick a couple months ago. About a month ago, I went through about seven days of absolute heck, I never felt so worse in my life, never felt so worse in my life, And all of a sudden, I was wondering why I wasn't feeling well well those seven days. I didn't pick up a Bible. I was speaking to him through prayer, but it wasn't deep rooted prayer. It was more like protect from the other family members in my house not to get sick. It wasn't deep rooted prayer where I was trying to
develop that relationship with him. Because this is about a relationship, it's not about a religion. That's what I want you to know to start things off. When it comes to getting to know God, getting to know Jesus, the way to the Father is through Jesus. So what's the best way to get to know the Father, No, Jesus. Develop that relationship today, and that's what you're doing by listening to a podcast like this. So during that four hundred years of silence, this is where people should be coming
to him. Now, God didn't speak to us through prophets at that time or teachers. People may have been trying to seek God at that time, still obeying in his laws, but then had to come something in the world to really wake them up up. And that was the birth of Jesus Christ. For he is the way to the Father. So that four hundred years of silence is like what we go through every day. And when I was sick,
it was quiet. I got tired of watching the same TV shows and I got bored in the house, and I probably should have been turning to the Lord in my Bible and just reading. There was silence, and in that silence, I should have come to him toward the end of my sickness a little bit. Toward the end, I was feeling a little bit better. I started opening up the Bible, I was reading a little more, trying to do some of my online studies. I started feeling better.
Now what you're saying, oh, you're telling me right now, Katie, If I just believe that it'll happen, well, it depends on what what you're believing for. If you're believing for healing, you're dealing for transformation, you're dealing you're believing for renewal in your life and a relationship or a job or wherever he may be. If you believe in Jesus Christ and the power of Jesus Christ. There ain't anything he
can't do. Now. Also a little side note there, we say on this show every once in a while, he won't give you the whole Hershey bar at first. He's gonna give you a little morsel. He's gonna give you a Hershey kiss from time to time because he wants to see you digest that first. He's gonna give you something and see if you appreciate it at that time. Because you know what it's like giving a kid a chocolate bar, right, you can give a young kid, say like a three year old chocolate bar. He's going to
devour that whole thing in two minutes. He doesn't know any better to say. I'm gonna eat a little bit now, eat a little bit later, i'm' let it digest. I'll lead a little bit more, and then all of a sudden, when happens to that kid, we get sick. Right, it's the same thing in our lives. He doesn't want that for us. He doesn't want us to get sick. So he's not going to have you consume any more than
your digestive system can handle. And that includes the things that you read, the things that you listen to, the things that you hear. You may only listen to those podcast this week. It's a start. You may turn on a TikTok and all of a sudden there's a video by Brandon Lake or a Christian artist you've never heard of, and you're like, oh, I like that song. It sounds like so and so, just like at the top of the show you heard l Cray that songs called the Drop.
Lacree could be an artist on the Billboard charts in the secular world. He really could. He could be somebody that's up there with the likes of Taylor Swift, this and that and the other thing. But he chose that road for the Lord. Now it's time for you to choose a road not just for yourself, but for the Lord. And you have by starting out with this program. So the four hundred years of Silence happens. Have you ever had silence in your life? I know single mothers out there,
You're like, I have chaos every day. Even in the beginning. In the Book of Genesis, chapter one, it says in the beginning right, and when you move on to chapter one, verse two, it talks about there was complete darkness over the waters and God was starting to create the world at this time. You don't think there wasn't chaos. Then the waters started churning, the world started moving. But to God, that's not chaotic. In the midst of chaos, who was in the center of it? God? When God was creating
the world, it was silent. Do you know that the Lord wants you to come to him in your quiet times? This all ties in. It makes sense now, doesn't it. Not even just the four hundred years of silence from the Old Testament to the New Testament, but silence in your life, silence to develop a relationship with the Lord. It even says in Luke chapter five, verse sixteen. But
Jesus often withdrew to a lonely places and prayed. If Jesus went somewhere where it was quiet to pray, which he was drawing closer to his father, why wouldn't we do the same thing to develop this relationship with Jesus Christ, find a quiet time to go pray. I don't care if you've never picked up a Bible. I don't care if you don't know how to read the Bible. We all know how to talk. And when we close our eyes and just say Jesus helped me. Guess what you
just prayed. I'm a big believer in prayer. You want to be rich in life, be po. You know when you kind of broke, you say, I'm po right, Well, I have an acronym for that, Poe Poe. Pray over everything you wonder why you're having a bad day. I mean, Monday mornings started out for me. Okay, I literally felt like Garfield. Okay, I hate Mondays all right, because I woke up with all the great intentions of praying with the Lord, reading my Bible, grabbing my wife's hand, giving
her a kiss, saying hello to the kids. But we had a plumbing problem and I had to fix it right then and there, which took four hours. And I realized, in that quiet time when my family left the house to allow me to fix this thing, I needed to come to God. I took a quick, little quiet drive to home depot, which all us men love, right, it's not quiet when it comes to our pocketbooks. At the end of that trip, right, and all of a sudden,
I had this amazing prayer time in my truck. And I got home and I turned on Zach Williams' music in the background. It's kind of seemed like I'm talking to myself, but I'm talking to God. And the project went pretty smoothly. He just wanted me to be with him in those quiet times. Now, don't get me wrong, in the quiet times, the opposition can come to and really attack your thoughts. Oh, this is what you're doing. Oh you want to get to know Jesus. Okay, you
do that. You do that and see what happens. And then your mind's like, what do you mean, I'll see what happens. Because once the opposition gets in between the ears and sneaks in, like the serpent that he is, through the nooks and crannies of our life, he tries
to break it apart. Tried to break apart that day for me because he knew I had an amazing day at church and we had church meetings on that Sunday, and then Monday came and I had great intentions to be with the Lord and get some work done with my student ministry and do these podcasts. And then all of a sudden, you're gonna have a problem with your plumbing, and I know you hate dealing with stuff like that. I'm gonna come after you we don't even know it, guys.
But in the quiet times, the opposition can try to manipulate you. But in the quiet times, when we go toward the Lord in prayer and develop that relationship, man, anything can happen. That's what happened during this four hundred years of silence, four hundred years of silence, and at the end became the New Testament in the birth of Jesus, Christ came to be the savior of the world. Now, during that four hundred years there were kings that were trying to dominate the land and do bad things to
the people, in slave people, things of that nature. That was the serpent, That was the opposition trying to get into their lives. But it is finished. And when you know the Bible and you know the next chapter, you have nothing to worry about. And when you go to the Lord in those quiet times, just like we talked about in Luke chapter five, verse sixteen, I love that. But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. We should be doing the same thing, should be doing the
same thing. You can move on to other verses such as Psalms forty six ten. Be still and know that I am God. If you just be still and say, Lord, let me feel your presence. I've never prayed before. I don't know you, but I want to get to know you. You're gonna feel an overwhelming, calming presence come upon your soul. I believe that I've seen that, I've felt that, and I want you to feel the same thing. Psalms forty six to ten goes on to say, be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among
the nations, and I'll be exalted in the earth. Means he'll be known everywhere Psalms sixty two, verse one. Truly, my soul finds rest in God. When do we rest in the quiet times? Right we go to bed at night, when everything is settled and is quiet. Truly, my soul finds rest in God. My salvation comes from Him. It's wonderful.
And finally, Mark chapter one, verse thirty five. Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, solitary confined just with him and the Father, where he prayed. This ties back in the Luke five verse sixteen, but Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. Mark one
thirty five goes on saying these verses. The description of these verses where we were talking about guys, act as reminders in the power of the quiet time of God. And boy, was there a great quiet time from the Old Testament to the New Testament where God didn't speak and it was quiet. I want to try something with you, guys, and we do this every year wherever you may be. Maybe you're in an office cubicle right now, don't do it. If you're driving, all right, pull off to the side
of the road. Maybe you're on the treadmill, get off of that for a moment. We're just gonna have ten seconds of quiet, no prayer, just quiet. Now. I want you to feel the presence of God in ten seconds. That's it. Ten seconds. I dare you. That's a phrase we have around here for everybody. We dare you. We dare you to ignite your fate. We dare you to start your faith. We dare you to grow your faith with things like this. Ten seconds of your life. That's all
I'm asking for. Ten seconds of quiet. You always complain about it. I don't have time to just sit and be quiet. Yeah you do, Yeah you do. I mean no offense. You've wasted twenty two minutes on this podcast. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. It's not a waste. It's not a waste. So I want ten seconds from you to be with the Lord, and we're going to start in three two one. I want you to know that was fifteen seconds. I want you to know that that peace you just felt it was God. That peace and that
comforting was from the Lord. For fifteen seconds. Did any of you think of anything or did you just think about that moment in what was in it? That's the question I want you to answer with yourself in your next quiet time. You can take fifteen seconds, you can
take longer than that. I remember at the beginning of the year, we were doing a fasting thing here in our home, and I wanted my children and wife to pray upon their fast so we'd pray over it, and then I said, okay, you're going to have five minutes with the Lord. That's it. I don't care if you're walking around the backyard, I don't care if you're in your room praying. Just five minutes me. I go into my prayer closet, literally, my son, my eight year old,
walks in the yard, my wife listens to music. My other son goes in, just lays down. But it goes back to that rest. Right truly, my soul finds rest in God. My salvation comes from Him. You just had salvation for fifteen seconds of your life. Could you imagine what it would be like the rest of your life if you gave your life over to Him? And maybe you be thinking about that right now. I need to
change my life. It's been too chaotic. And listen. It's not all rainbows and sunshines, kittens and marshmallows coming out of your dairy, or it's not because it is a hard walk. But man, when you're walking hard and you're in that piece, it is glorious because he's defending us. He's cloak, covering us with his love, defending us with his shield and sword. So right now, wherever you may be, I ask you to pray after me. There's nothing magical about it, but just a moment with you and God.
Dear God, I come to you in the precious name of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Dear Lord, I am not perfect. I stumble daily and I fall short of the glory of God. I turned my life over to you. I needed to change. Please, I'm ready to make you my personal Lord and savior of my life. Make me new Lord, cleanse me. Now. I believe you were real. I believe you were born. I believe you had died, and I believe you have risen for my victory and yours. Dear Lord, help me take over my soul today. Amen.
And if you just repeated that welcome, Welcome to the kingdom. He's been waiting for you. Next step, find a place with like minded believers like yourself, church, small group. Continue to listen to your podcasts. Open the Bible, that's the biggest Start. Like I said, go ahead and start in chapters one through thirty one of Proverbs. They're like little fortune cookies for your soul. And pray. I dare you, what else do you have to lose? I dare you pray?
Have faith in whom you're talking to, And just like those fifteen seconds you just had of quiet time, peace will be unto you. Guys. Thanks for listening to another episode of Let's Get Biblical with Katie. We'll see you guys on the flip side. God bleame us shall take care,
