Maybe you're brand new, you just stumbled in. Maybe it

was something your friend gave you said, hey, check this out. Well, if you're a believer, non believer, atheists, Maybe somebody who's been in the church a little too long develop those white hair chiny chin chins all over your body, you know, the white hairs of wisdom. As they say in the Bible. We have a phrase for everybody around here, and that

phrase is we dare you. We dare you to stop in listen, develop your faith, start your faith, grow your faith, reignite your faith with us by taking the good old scriptures from the Bible e the Basic Constructions before Leaving Earth Manual. We like to call it and wrap it around your world, my world, in the collective world around us, through stories and hopes of transformation in your life and my wife as well. And today this is our Faith

Break edition. We're getting back into our faith breaks. It's about a fifteen minute show where we take something out of the Bible and just give you a little morsel that you can carry throughout your day, week and month, or until the next time you hear the brand new podcasts here on. Let's get biblical. Let's do that today. Let's talk about a word that we don't like to hear. Discipline. Discipline is a word we don't like. We don't like

to be disciplined at time. We don't like to be told what to do well let's pump the brakes on what discipline really means. Are you disciplined in your relationship? I'm trying to make it happy. Are you disciplined with your friends? Do you live up to their expectations or maybe even yours? And what I mean by that is are you a really good friend to them? Are you disciplined? Maybe at your gym you show up on a Monday, Wednesday,

Friday and you're getting that body into shape. Are you disciplined with your mind getting into different things like reading or playing games that really help your mind. Are you disciplined in your relationship? I paused on that one. I'll say it again. Are you disciplined in your relationship? But are you really disciplined in your relationship with Christ? Now you may not have that relationship and you don't know

how to develop discipline just yet, And that's okay. Stick around you See, discipline with Christ is a tough one. I wake up in the morning and I'm told before my feet heat the ground, I should pray to the Lord.

Right.

We hear that as Christian followers, and sometimes we don't do that because the alarm goes off. We jump into the shower, we brush our teeth. We go on to work. We barely have enough time to kiss our children, our wife as we go out the door. Ouch. Can you imagine how different your life would be, or that day would be, if you start it off with some than positive By the way, the cross looks like a positive symbol if you start off with Christ and say, Lord,

just thank you for wakening today. I don't know why you woke me. I don't know why I'm here, but thank you for a new breath and my lungs. Amen. That's it. And then you jump into the shower, and that shower feels different when you brush your teeth, it's a little different. You go downstairs, you kiss the wife, you hug the kids and say, hey, I don't have a lot of time today, but let's make time for each time each other when I get home, and it's

a different atmosphere, right, the power of positivity. Well, it's funny how the cross is a positive symbol. So why not start our day that way and be disciplined with it. I know what you're saying, Oh Katie, we can't all be like you. You sound like you're holier than now. Time out, Time out. It's March madness. Well it's actually April. We just passed March madness. But I'm gonna call a t o here. Okay, I'm not really good when it comes to being dis blended God at times. Oh how

dare you, Katie? You know, you get on the air and you speak of God, and you read of the Bible and you pray with us, and how dare you? Listen? We have a phrase around here. It's not even our phrase. It's from the Book of Romans. We all stumble and fall short of the glory of God daily. And that's okay, because we stumble so we can continue to come to Him. All right. Maybe in your day, you had a flat tire,

Maybe you got to work late. Maybe your paycheck wasn't as much as you thought it was going to be. What's the first reaction you have? You're angry, You're upset? Why me? How about Lord? Thank you for keeping me safe. I got this flat tire because apparently there might have been an accident on the road up the road that I could have gotten into. You made me late to

work for a certain reason. Thank you for the less money in my paycheck, because I would have wasted on something that was useless anyway, if you change that mindset through Christ and be disciplined with Him, it's going to be a different light coming into your life. Well, I'm reading in this book called Disciplines of a Godly Man, and there's a great series right now, Disciplines of a Godly Woman, Disciplines of a Godly Family, so on and

so forth. But there's some great antidotes and nuggets from this book that I'm reading. I want to share with you today, and I want to start with my own testimony. I'm not great with the discipline of Christ. I don't wake up every morning before my feet hit the ground and say God, thank you for another day. I may say it once I get up, go to the bathroom, brush my teeth, go down, maybe have a cup of coffee, say hello to my kids and family, and then I

go have devoted time with him. Maybe you don't have a lot of time to devote, right, you're just bing bang booming out the doors. Well, listen while you're in the car, put on some worship music. Hey, don't put anything on at all before you put the key in the ignition. Lord, thank you for another breath. Allow me to have a good day. Allow me all. I want

to honor you throughout that day. Amen. That's simple. If we did this every day and we're disciplined, that light comes right into our life and then people are saying, hey, there's something different about you, and then God will bring blessings upon us. Now keep in mind, we don't do these things to get things. We give back to God because what He's already done so much for us by dying on the cross, giving his only begotten son, Jesus Christ.

You see, what if that was your friend, what if that was your mother, father, child that was on that cross, You think a little differently about that person giving their life for you, right, will start changing your outlook on life and realizing this person was sin to take away your sins by being nailed to the cross. I do that daily and things are different for me in the morning. But like I said, there's some days I don't always

get disciplined. Happened to me the other day. I came downstairs, I was getting ready to get my coffee, gave my wife a kiss. She had a lot of things going on in her life, chaotic life at the moment, and our business is just booming. So she had a lot to do with that. We're trying to get the kids ready and I come down and I said, yeah, I'm going to go take a bath and I'm going to start my day and if there's anything you need, let

me know. And she jumped right on me. And that's because it looked like I was inconsiderate to her, right, which I was. But if I had gotten up and started my day a different way, that atmosphere would have changed. And so she went to work with an attitude. I started to have an attitude. I kind of barked at the kids a little bit, but then when the dust settled, the smoke cleared, I sat down for ten minutes. And this was on a Sunday before we went to church.

I sat down, I open up the Bible, and God's amazing because he led me to a section in Luke where Mary is singing praises to the Lord and the word grace popped out to me and He's telling me, you need to show your wife grace, show your kids a little more grace. And when I prayed to him and I did that, atmosphere changed. Going to church was different, The rest of the day was different. Things were better

for her. It was amazing because I remained disciplined. Now you can remain disciplined working out your job, maybe disciplined with your kids and wife. Why can't you be disciplined with God? You see? Even Michael Jordan stumbled, Thomas Edison stumbled, but they remained disciplined in what they did and became great in their respective fields. What does the Bible say about it?

Speaker 1

Katie?

Speaker 2

Well, first Timody, I call him first Timody. You know, Timothy krocket. I'm kidding. See, I stumbled. I fell short of the glory of God. One Timothy four, verse seven says, train yourself for Godliness. Yes, train yourselves, exercise, work out? How do you do this? Opening the Bible, reading, praying, train yourself, go to small groups. Get into a church that has some cool groups you can go attend. I have a men's group right now where we do different

activities every two weeks together and share life together. I know that sounds corny to you non believers. It's okay, But guess what, it's not corny because what we're doing is we're training ourselves for Godliness. And when we do that, we're able to discipline ourselves and dig deeper into Christ, and the whole purpose of this all is to build

a bigger, deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. Now, in this book Disciplines for Godliness, it says the call to train ourselves for godliness also suggests directing all of our energy toward that goal. That's what you do, right, You direct yourself toward a goal. You say, Yep, I'm going to work out. I'm going to get those glutes ready. I'm going to get this ready. I want to look good here. I want to get into that dress. I want to

get into that swimsuit. And you direct yourself toward that goal. Could you imagine if you direct yourself toward God every day by getting into the Bible and praying and reading and getting into church. Woo, your world just is blown away with amazingness that is brought to you in part by our Lord Jesus Christ. It's amazing. It goes on to say as well in First Corinthians Chapter nine, Versus twenty five through twenty seven, it says, I discipline my

body and keep it under control. You see what we've got to develop now, guys, is a spiritual sweat. This is what they say. I love this. In the book Spiritual Sweat. You gross. I thought the Holy Spool Spirit was just spirit. Well, you can have Holy Spirit or that stinky teen spirit, as Nirvana used to say, That's what I like to say, But I'd rather have that spiritual sweat. And we must get rid of every incumbents

in every association, habit and tendency that impedes Godliness. We need to get rid of this so we can replace it with good things. Right, watch things that are weighing you down. Basically, what's weighing you down is TV taking away from you, is your hobbies taking away from you. Now, there's nothing wrong with having hobbies, but when you're devoting more time to that when you could be giving it

to God, that's taking you away from that. But we've got to develop that spiritual sweat like you develop sweat in the gym. This will bring you discipline for Godliness. And this is an amazing feeling because you're able then to share it with others. That light is being shined in your life and you start to see doors open that have never opened before. So today, what I say to you is get in discipline with Christ, whether it's waking up in the morning for the first time ever

and saying, Lord, thank you for waking me up. First time turning on kay Love in your car or a truck, first time going to church, first time opening a Bible, Develop that spiritual sweat today, develop that spiritual discipline for Godliness, and watch your world just come together. It's an amazing feeling. And I want you guys to feel the same way

that I do. Every time I see somebody struggling, I realize that they're not near God because I know when I stumble or I'm not disciplined, I I'm furthest from God. Maybe you've never met God, maybe you've never known God, and this is your opportunity to know him. All I'm asking right now, if you want to get to know God right now, just close your eyes, open up your poems,

and repeat after me. It's nothing crazy. But if you're looking for a change in your life today, to develop discipline in a relationship with Him so it can overflow to others and overflow in your life, this is your moment and repeat, Dear God, I come to you in the precious name of Jesus. I thank you for another day. I didn't really believe in you, but now I believe in you. I believe that you were a man, that

you rose, and that you died for our sins. Dear Lord, I ask for you to come into my life and make me yours. Dear Lord, allow me to have you as my personal Lord and savior. Take over my life and make me new weekend, Dear Lord, I love you. I need you. Please lead and cultivate my life, and I pray it depression name of Jesus. Amen, Well, welcome, You're now a part of the Kingdom. What's next? Open the Bible, start reading, maybe Book of Proverbs, maybe starting

the New Testament. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John develop a personal relation to today, to the form of prayer and reading. Find a good church, find a good group of people. Change your life, develop spiritual sweat out of kind of discipling your life toward God. It's amazing. And also go check out those books Disciplines for a Godly Life. It's amazing. Guys. Thank you for listening to a Faith Break edition and we'll see you guys next week. God bless y'all and take care.
