Episode description

Have you ever wondered why some people with modest bank accounts feel abundantly wealthy while others with millions still feel financially insecure? The secret lies not in financial strategies but in something far more powerful – your relationship with money.

When a prestigious financial publication interviewed me about money management, they expected conventional advice about investments and savings strategies. Instead, I shared what I believe is the true foundation of prosperity – how we relate to money emotionally and psychologically. Growing up in domestic violence shelters on welfare, surrounded by hand-me-downs and financial shame, I developed a unique perspective on wealth that ultimately helped me build both a successful tech career and my current thriving business.

And, as a special bonus, I want to give you FREE access to my signature course, Slay Your Year (usually $997)! All you have to do is:

Simple as that!

Rejected for Speaking My Truth

Speaker 1

Welcome to Let it Be Easy with Susie Moore . Let's talk about the time I was rejected by the media for saying what I really feel . Now I was being interviewed by a prestigious financial publication as a life coach who works with many people , and they were asking about money . Now there are plenty of finance experts out there . There are endless apps .

If you're looking for finance advice , you will not find a shortage . Free videos , free podcasts I mean , it's endless . You can find strategy , insights , rules , books more than you could ever even consume in your lifetime .

But during this interview , the reporter was asking me very practical , especially as a life coach now with a thriving business which I'm so , so proud of . She was asking me a lot of kind of money specifics which I'm happy to go into and share .

But what I really wanted to convey most strongly is the fact that it's not about the money itself , it's not about the stuff , it's not the number on the screen , aka the money in the bank , that determines your prosperity

Money vs. Relationship to Money

. So if you've known me on my work for a long time , you'll know that I grew up with very , very little living in domestic violence , shelters and government housing on welfare , living on donations and hand-me-downs and having a lot of embarrassment around that as a kid , and so now being able to have had a great , successful career in tech , now having my own

business , which I love so much . What I wanted to convey was it's not the money in the bank , or it's not the salary that the bank right , or it's not the salary that you have , it's not your annual income . That's the thing .

Of course it matters , it's there and everyone earns something and hopefully you know we're able to invest a little , save a little , spend on things that matter to us . But I said , you know really what I want to talk about when it comes to money isn't the nuts bolts , isn't the advice , because it's . I mean , there's already incredible advice out there .

Follow Farnoosh Tarabi , my incredible friend and finance expert for all things money . I do , but I have to say what really matters is your relationship to money . That is what counts , because I can tell you this when I was 22 years old , going through a divorce , I had around seven or $800 in the bank and I can tell you I felt rich .

I felt rich because I was able to put a small deposit on an apartment . So I had seven or 800 after I did that and I had enough

When Will It Be Enough?

to see me through the week into my next paycheck , maybe even save a couple of hundred bucks . That feeling of okay , this is my starting point . I will give thanks for this . There's only going to be more is what created a cool career for me , is what created this business .

It's never the amount , because if I look at even some of my friends , or if I look at the Forbes 100 rich list , I've got I'm very humble over here . But if I look at my earnings , if I look at that as my form of value or if I look at that as something that's fixed , what you have in the bank is already old news . That's how I think about it .

And even if I lost everything say it happened I know I could rebuild because I know what to do , I know how I am , I know who I am and I know what's inside of me Meaning . Yes , it's nice to have money in the stock market . Yes , it's nice to have a lump sum . Yes , it's nice to own your house , if that's what you value .

But what I value most is my relationship to all things , and my relationship with money is a healthy one because I welcome it . I know it can be a huge source for good . I know it's great fun making it and there are so many endless ways

Foundation for Attracting More

with which to do that and then make decisions based on that , based on okay , you're in a position of financial wellness . Now what , my friends ? What if it's not the money in the bank ? I can tell you this it never feels like enough , right ? You save X , you save Y , you save Z , you hit a milestone . Then you go . I just need a little bit more .

Don't you remember that scene in Breaking Bad ? It's one of my favorites , when Skylar , his wife , lifts up like a top , a blue top , because they've got money in a storage container and it's just cash , cash , cash , cash piled fully . Don't even know how much there is it's millions , clearly and she says to him when will it be enough ?

This , to me , is a sense of madness . Right , having enough is a decision that we get to make , but , more importantly than the amount , someone will always have more , a lot more , I assure you . What if money ?

How we feel about money , our sense of prosperity , our feeling of being rich isn't the money in the bank , it's about our relationship to it , to it and to ourselves . My friends , my very first job in a bakery when I was 14 , earning two pounds an hour , which is around $2.50 US , I felt rich .

I could buy myself a pair of jeans , buy myself a mascara at the local pharmacy . What if the feeling of prosperity is all that counts , your relationship to what you currently have , because appreciating what you have , however small it may seem in comparison to others , others , is always going to be the foundation for attracting more .
