Episode description

Have you ever completed something important and felt nothing but relief? That subtle response might be a warning sign you're living in survival mode without even realizing it. Throughout my own journey, I discovered this pattern in myself—finishing significant projects and immediately moving on instead of celebrating achievements. This episode unpacks this common tendency, particularly prevalent among high-achieving individuals, to chase the next exhale rather than experience true satisfaction.

Relief certainly has its place in our emotional spectrum. That flood of gratitude when finding a lost item or avoiding a dreaded mistake is valuable. But are we shortchanging ourselves by setting our emotional ceiling there? Where is the accomplishment, joy, peace, satisfaction, and celebration? Many of us have trained ourselves to bypass these elevated states entirely, conditioning ourselves to perpetually seek the next challenge before processing our wins.

And, as a special bonus, I want to give you FREE access to my signature course, Slay Your Year (usually $997)! All you have to do is:

Simple as that!

Signs of Living in Survival Mode

Speaker 1

Welcome to Let it Be Easy with Susie Moore . Here is a sign that you might be living in survival mode without realizing it . I noticed this myself , maybe a year or so ago , and it was a profound insight for me .

It was this when I completed a job , something that was important , something that was significant maybe it was a talk , maybe it was a collaboration , maybe it was creating something from scratch when it was over and I'm saying over with a great result you know clapping happy I hit a goal , whatever it may be , but it was a good outcome , a positive result .

Instead of feeling this sense of accomplishment or achievement something that drove me to want to celebrate , even relax instead I just felt relief , relief instead of accomplishment .

Relief Instead of Accomplishment

Is that how you feel sometimes too ? Maybe you've got something to do that feels significant and important and you complete it and it goes well . And instead of taking even a moment , a minute to celebrate , to congratulate yourself , to pause , you just feel relief and you're on to the next , on to the the next , onto the next .

I know a lot of high achieving people do this , especially women . We don't sit , we don't take a moment , we don't breathe and go wow , look at how far I've come . Look at how well that went . These are the reasons , in particular , that I feel satisfied right now . This is what I'm taking with me into my next project .

We simply feel this sense of relief that something didn't go wrong , we didn't mess up , there wasn't a colossal mistake . And now we're on to the next thing , because we have to remain busy and we're seeking the next sense

Missing Life's Moments

of relief . Not even achievement , not even happiness , not even satisfaction , but this sense of relief that we keep chasing . So think about this If we're constantly just seeking relief and maybe we set our goals high and we achieve them , and we feel this sense of an exhale instead of a oh , isn't this fantastic ?

What if we're going through life completely missing it ? Right ? This is true survival mode , isn't it ? I noticed this a couple of years ago , when I completed something that took me . A couple of years ago , when I completed something that took me a lot of time and effort and as soon as it was over , I was busy .

One hour later , talking about something else , planning something else , and my husband said to me he's like that was pretty epic , right ? How do you feel ? And I'm like , yeah , yeah , yeah , good . It's not always obvious , it's not always big , it's not always this significant aha moment . I'm in survival mode . Oh my , am I missing out ? It was a sense of ah .

I suppose someone else would be taking the afternoon off , someone else would be just enjoying this , somebody else would just be allowing themselves to internalize that there was a job well done and that requires a rest . A toast , a piece of cake , I don't know . Whatever it is that makes you happy . I think that it is a tragedy to go through life

Joy is Your Birthright

thinking relief is the best thing that you can feel , thinking that relief is all there is , thinking that , yes , relief is wonderful and we know that sense of relief . Imagine you think you've lost your phone or your wallet and then you find it flooded with relief . That's wonderful .

Especially too , I think , if I've made a mistake , and then I check that I haven't . I didn't press , you know , send to all . I'm like oh phew , relief , relief is a wonderful thing to feel , and it's a wonderful thing to seek out when we feel low .

So if I feel slightly depressed , or if I feel anxious , or if I feel even bored and I can seek something that brings me relief , that's wonderful . We're going up what's called the emotional scale . According to Abraham Hicks , relief is a great thing to feel , but are we shortchanging ourselves ?

Where is a sense of accomplishment , joy , peace , satisfaction , pleasure , celebration ? My friends , if you connect with this on any level , I'm going to tell you there's more for you . There's more joy and more goodness and more pleasure that you are able to experience . It's your birthright . Joy is your birthright .

Are you selling yourself short , seeking only relief , jumping to the next thing , without pausing , without taking a moment to acknowledge how far you've come , how well you've done , how well you are doing and how good your life really is doing , and how good your life really is ? Until tomorrow , my friends , so much love and ease .
