Episode 873 – RIP Jim Shooter
We talk about the late great Jim Shooter.

We talk about the late great Jim Shooter.
This Week in Legion History starts off the show, where Paul learns that 950 years from now, we’ll see the first appearance of Ultra Dillinger. This sends Paul to the time bubble all the way back to March of 2009, where Darren, Matt and Paul faced their fears as well as the Attack of the Crimson Virus in The Condemned Legionnaires, and learn that the Super Villains of All Ages is not a video dance party at all! You too can thrill to the idea of Ultra Boy talking like Edward G Robinson, and Superb...
The three groups of legionnaires all face different challenges. Science police are hunting down Ultra Boy on Rimbor, Space Pirates from Ikonn have taken down the UP Young Heroes, Peril Men, and Legionnaires on Velmar V and Colonel Pismo of the Science Police in the bridge of Legion HQ. The resolution involves some of the youngest legionnaires showing their prowess. Jim Shooter’s original scripts are discussed, Brent has some theories and Derek debunks them.
Inferno hangs out at the mall with a new crowd, meets an existential Panda, and turns up the heat… perhaps a bit too much!
Derek and Brent discover a whole new respect for Shooter and Manapul in LoSH Volume 5, issue 43, as they enjoy their world-building, comedy antics, and the respect shown for what has gone before in the threeboot. In addition, we get to meet up with lots of supporting cast characters (who may or may not be Legion fan references). Appearing in this issue are the new UP Young Heroes (including Spy, Sonar, Voice and Gazelle ), the UP President’s Deputy Chief of Staff (Zilya Popoff), SP Officers (Col...
The Legionnaires meet up with Superboy, and stuff slides quickly sideways.
Derek and Brent discuss the Legion’s new unis (uniforms) and Chameleon’s lack of vestments. The away team on Rimbor put up one hell of a fight. Garth finally has a win against Popoff… Or does he?
The Legionnaires are stuck back in time. No, really: They’re stuck back even further. It’s time for an interesting alternative history… history? No, not THAT one. Listen and find out!
Aaron Lopresti is the guest artist for the issue. It looks like a famous redhead from Legion history appears. The mystery around M’Rissey continues as does the one around the appearance of the cybernetic attackers across the UP.
The Legion deals with the Godwave in the 20th century. Brainy wants to get his hands on a Mother Box, and Spark’s powers seem to have lightened up!
Garth shows some leadership. Projectra shows her kleptomania. Imra shows her dark side. Invisible Kid shows his crush. Brainiac 5 shows his new Wormhole Conduit Transporter. Timber Wolf shows his anger. Triplicate Girl shows us her breakfast.
Inferno strikes out on her own and makes some new friends! All this plus some Stump the Subs trivia and This Week in Legion History.

The Atomic Knights, led by Rick Grimes… er, Gardner Grayle aren’t backing down, and they figure they can mess with Superboy and the Legion. Hilarity ensues!

Meanwhile, Lightning Lad’s duties as team leader aren’t going any easier as he’s forced to sit through a painful tryout session for new Legionnaires. Will Giselle. Fruit Boy or M’Rissey be asked to train with the Legion?
Supergirl and Brainiac 5 figure out what’s happening in Leesburg. The Subs try some trivia, and the biggest This Week in Legion History ever!
When things get crazy in Leesburg, Supergirl turns to Brainiac 5 for help. What could possibly go wrong?

Brent and Derek are joined by Matthew and Maurice Walker for Chapter 4 of the Lords of Luck. Batman has somehow been merged with Tharok by the Haruspex.
