I'm your host, Scott Wyden Kivowitz. In this episode, we're going to talk about how to craft your podcast idea. This includes brainstorming and refining your idea, choosing a podcast format. And naming your podcast. [00:00:46] Brainstorming and refining podcast ideas --- [00:00:46] The first step in crafting your podcast idea is to brainstorm a list of topics that you were interested in and passionate about. Once you have your list of topics, start to refine your ideas, but considering the following factors. Is your [00:01:00] topic unique? Is your topic relevant to your target audience? Is your topic evergreen? Meaning that people will still be interested in it years from now. Can you create a podcast that is informative, entertaining, and engaging? Once you've refined your idea. You can start to develop a more concrete plan for your podcast. This includes deciding on a format and naming your podcast. [00:01:29] Choosing a podcast format --- [00:01:29] There are different podcast formats to choose from including interviews. Where you interview experts and other interesting people on your podcast. Solo shows where you host your podcast by yourself and discuss topics that you are passionate about. Panel discussions where you host a panel of experts or other interesting people to discuss a particular topic. Conversational shows where you have a casual conversation with guests about a variety of [00:02:00] different topics. Educational shows where you teach your listeners about a particular topic. Storytelling shows where you tell stories about your own life or the lives of others. Choose a format that you are comfortable with and that you think will be engaging for your listeners. [00:02:20] Naming your podcast --- [00:02:20] Now, your podcast needs a good name and it should be catchy, memorable and relevant to your topic. It should also be easy to spell and pronounce. Here are a few tips for naming your podcast. Use keywords that are relevant to your topic. Be creative and unique. Keep it short and simple. I use alliteration or rhyme. Once you have a name for your podcast, you're ready to start creating content. Crafting your podcast idea is an important step in creating a successful podcast.
