は cannot be used with 'WH' Question words.

これは なん です か?*
What is this?

ペンは どこ です か?
Where is the Pen?

なまえは なん ジョン です。
(My) name is John.

たけしさんは にほんじん です。
Takeshisan is Japanese.

Dialogue:
はじめまして、わたしの なまえは ジョン です。あなたの なまえは なん ですか? よろしくおねがいします。じゃねー

"Nice to meet you, My name is John. What is your name? *formal way of saying it was nice to meet them* See you later."

*Japanese does not use spaces, but for understanding's sake, we are allowing them to break the sentence up more.
